I do have an idea that the Mokka will probably be no stranger to garden centres, and probably has a tin of travel sweets in the glovebox. James really must be firm with this man now.
Lesson 1. Don’t sell old Vauxhalls Lesson 2. When someone tells you they’ve got rid of a new car and want an old dump truck…RUN! They’re skint Lesson 3. Don’t give them discounts. They’re skint and trying it on. Lesson 4. Keeps copies of all the service info and documents. Lesson 5. Tell him to piss off he’s a total chancer.
At this point James, tell him to do one or buy the car back, you will never get him away because he knows you'll fold and help him. Your too good for your own good. 😊
Mr Mokka gave 🚩🚩🚩when he gave a new car back then asked you to pay his tax 🙈 you are a good person James, I hate to see it when people mess you around, you don’t deserve it ☹️
Well said great bit of expectation management. Good luck with your new mate you havent seen the last of him! It maybe wise to buy it back if he keeps on much more
He may also run out of fuel and also can’t afford the road tax. 😎🤣 James your too nice and easy all these extras I’d have bought if back and he can do one 😀💪
James he wants you to put new engine gearbox and replace every component on the car with a new one supply a lifetime warranty and wrap the car in bubble wrap haha
A very clever person that I know (me) with many years motor trade experience once said (and a few times since) if we treated the public like they treat us we would be in jail.
Hi James you so right about components failing at any time , I have 2015 VW t5.1 transporter bought new , at 14,000 it had the air con pump replaced , 14,600 the alternator , 16,000 a duelmass flywheel, glad to say all under warranty,
I keep a full digital record of all history/ documentation etc on every vehicle so can refer back. Also do 3 month/3000 miles warranty on vehicles up to 5 years& 1 month /1000 miles over 5 years.
I did work for two dealers that left the motor trade because of come-back customers like him. They both emigrated to Wales, no idea where they are now.!
Chops I have watched you on and off for a few years. If I was to buy a car from a dealer local I would try and get something knocked off as I would know it will be a nightmare getting the dealer to pay for anything if something was wrong in the first month and chances are I would fix it myself. With you I would pay what you are asking as I would trust you 100% to be MORE than fair. Take care and good luck.
Bloody hell James 🤣 Month max before tiddles is leaving you another message. I think in a previous life you've got to have been some kind of guy leading a donkey around with a lady expecting her first child looking for a stable 😂
James, dealing with the public is always a pain. The old saying, this job would be great if it wasn't for the customers. Obviously, someone had his great great grandfather as a customer and that's where the saying comes from. All the best. Keep cool and keep on going. All the best. Mark
James, you go above and beyond! I’d have no hesitation in buying a car from you (I’ve already wore one!) but I would be much more realistic about what is my responsibility after that! Mr Mokka Man sounds like one of life’s eternal worriers/overthinkers! Just enjoy the car!
As I said in the comments a few days ago James. Trade to trade on the sub 5k cars. One side of your units as a workshop and a handfull of higher priced cars in your other unit which could be made into a nice showroom. With your level of after care, you need more margins to give the service that you give. All the best, Tony.
Might be an idea to photocopy paperwork so then you can check what work has been done love watching your videos if I lived nearer I would buy a car from you
I've got similar on now bud, sold a 69 plate bike, I actually bought it for myself, retro mash 400 scrambler, too slow, sold it, lost on it, now he's living with me, 69 plate, 800 miles, like a new bike, 1595,they're 4300 new, guy thinks I'm the main dealer, he's chucked loads of fuel additive in it causing a miss fire, now abs light is on....
Wow, cambelt job of the century for that price that is, wow. My S3 was somewhat different back in 2016 😆 He'll be back cus he's had to use the brakes and the ashtray is full!
I had a mk5 Astra 1.7 diesel years ago the thing used to eat alternators had 3 on it in 5 years then the mother in law got one and that was the same 😂 look forward to your Christmas card off him
Used to work for national company, we had a good maintenance repair network but customers wanted cheaper maintenance only to discover back was not there when needed..
Hi James , sadly he will keep asking and taking money off you for his perceived issues for as long as you keep agreeing to his demands. Sorry if that seems rude but it is the brutal truth, I was a small business owner so I feel your pain!
@ChopsGarage I had a y reg astra with 1.7d. Turbo went and engine ran pm it's oil. Revving it's nuts off. I thought that engine was gone. Mechanic put a new turbo on it. Right as rain.
my dad was selling his old jag with very low mileage years ago, punter dressed in overalls looked over the whole car for ages and came back with a list of minor issues to adjust the price. Dad just said 'I think you just need to buy a new car' and closed the door, the guys expression was priceless
Why I only sell pickups they sell fast people don’t mind dents don’t expect it to be perfect understand it’s a work horse cars are to much hassle they have to be near perfect condition which then costs more to retail them
I show everything on the walkaround video bud, especially important invoices for say cam belts, stuff like that, it's saved me a few times, a big thing is customer loosing docs then saying you didn't give them it, had one the other day, a v5 on a mgtf, guy was great to deal with, at first, then he's messaging saying I'd not given him v5 or history, sent him video of the stuff, soon shut him up.
I totally get you, Chops Garage. My friend bought an old Toyota for a few hundred pounds. Every time he heard a noise, rattle, or noticed a minor issue like a worn wiper, he'd go straight back to the dealer. This car had covered about 150,000 miles! After numerous visits over several months, the dealer eventually bought the car back for £50 more than the original price, despite fixing some wear and tear free of charge. The dealer even started hiding in the workshop and ignoring phone calls! Life’s too short for that.🙄

James you now have a friend for life. He will be ringing you on Christmas morning because he has a flat tyre or a blown side light bulb.
So his alternator had gone, you wouldn't have rung up? Of course you would 🤦
@stepheng8779 Wouldn't have rang about 6 times and left messages.

December 25th, "hello James, my Christmas tree lights won't turn on".

Just wait until he runs out of washer fluid !
Just tell him to get some replacement Lucas smoke.
James, you couldn’t make this stuff up! You deserve a medal 🥇
When the 30 days are up, you need to be firm, no means no
Are you listening James?
It's minimum 6 months
3 mths warranty not 6,he said that near the beginning
It’s good to know that there are still some honest dealers like yourself out there.
He returns a brand new car then replaces it with a 10 year old car with over 100000 miles,🤥yeh right.
I've been waiting for this one!! I knew he would be back.

Rinder would eat the buyer for breakfast
Just tell him to go away and multiply…….forcefully!
"James, I cant see a receipt for a brake fluid swap and I might have a crash.
James, the cars dirty, can you pop over and wash it?"
James just say no 🤬
I bet he gets his weekly shopping, and asks for a discount, because he has to heat it up, then wash the plates.
The next time he comes back ( as he is highly likely to do ) just buy it back off him and send him on his way .
