how does someone enter their 80's singing like they were in their 40's, and the sound is so rich, it's not like someone with a gravel voice w/ great style is still singing, this is a voice for the ages........ (knocking my head) may we be blessed with yet another, but I'm going to savor Spellbound as I'm sure most of you will
This song reaches down, and "oh so deepwardly", into a part of my soul----being that of a man---that I am inherently not able to live out.....at least not in the way that Judy sang it....felt it....and lived it. However, thanks to the GIVER of my life, this song couldn't be a greater gift to me here at the mid-point of our year and our 2024 summer.
I didn't live in Colorado, but I grew up among mountains and ocean. 40 years in the hot flat Califorina central valley. Just heard this at her concert and just cried. Changing my life to go back to mountains. Thank you always Judy!
This song captures the feel of the long ago Colorado of the 1960's. I still cannot listen to this song without a lump in my throat. Thank you, Judy, for this masterpiece and your eternal golden voice.
Judy i can’t even begin to tell how this made my heart sing the first time I heard it today. I’m a 68 year old Colorado native girl. I can’t stop singing it and playing along on My new Roland piano. Seriously you’ve made me so happy! I’m blessed to live at 9000 ft in Bailey Colorado. I’m flying high because of this song and your love. You touched me and my beloved on the other side now ,to our love for each other and Colorado. I can’t thank you enough. ( I lost my baby grand about 10 years ago and finally gave myself the gift of this sweet little piano. Your song wants me to play more!)
I'm building a cabin in the Spanish Peaks of Colorado this summer and will enjoy this song there many times. I also love her song "Mountain Girl" She sang it at a concert of hers a few years ago. It was like a sign from heaven that I had to fulfill my dream. I will leave my 7 foot grand piano in my Virginia home and get a Clavinova for the cabin. It'll be nice dividing my time between these two places. Keep playing music, Christine. It touches hearts more than anything else.
67 year old Colorado native here, Christine. I don’t live in CO anymore, but my husband and I used to love driving up to Bailey, enjoying a malt or cone from the Coney Island. I’m glad you have a piano again (doesn’t matter what type). Yes, Judy’s voice is amazing, both now and in the past. I was friends w/her sister through church in Denver in late elementary school. Keep on singing! I’m loving this song, too. Music keeps us young!
@@paulheffron4836 Hi Paul, Oh, must be such a beautiful place you have in Colorado. I am such a huge Judy Collins fan and have most of her albums. Are you a singer? Are there many venues that are not too far from the area you live in Colorado for folk music?
I had the extreme privilege of hearing Judy Collins sing this live on stage last night (2/25/22) in Olympia, WA. She extremely blessed with a voice as strong as ever, which mesmerizes her audience. I can't wait to listen to the rest of her new album. I want to catch the outbound Zephyr and travel with the wind, and all I have to do is close my eyes and listen to this, and I am transported. Thank you, Ms. Judy Collins, for sharing your immense talent and humanitarianism with us.
Saw her tonight 9/25/22 this song blew me out of the water! Ran home to find it and now is stuck on repeat. Also she is hilarious on stage with her incredible stories
I was a teenager back in the early 1960s when I first heard your "Golden Apples of the Sun." Your pure voice and musical decorum struck an indelible chord which has carried me through your long career. Your songs have never failed me. Judy, heartfelt gratitude for enriching us with such exquisite artistry.
A voice pure in heart and soul, I have been and still a fan of Judy Collins for over 50 years and have been privileged to see 3 of her concerts in Melbourne Australia over that period, Judy has a voice as pure and peaceful to soothe and relax the human soul….Thank you Judy from a devoted fan for your truly beautiful voice and songs that you sing.
I just love this song. I have been to Colorado. As a native Texan, this lady is one of the best singers in my time. God is surely blessed her with such talent.
Saw her last night at a wonderful 500 seat venue in Berkeley, CA. What a treat to see one of my all-time favorite singers, whose music I fell in love with in my freshman year of college, 1964. In addition to so many of her standard classics, I was happy to hear her perform this one too, which has recently become a new favorite. Thank you, thank you Judy, a true National treasure.
Got to hear her sing this here in Oregon this week. Absolutely love the images she paints with the lyrics; resonates in me long after the song ends. Love her music since I first heard her songs in the 60s and 70s.
This entire album is STUNNINGLY BEAUTIFUL... Thank you Ms Collins. Throughout the years, the decades you've recorded stunning albums while always raising my consciousness, but THIS deep hearted diary may well be your Opus. Congratulations.
The Zephyr runs between Chicago and San Francisco, coursing through the plains of Nebraska to Denver, across the Rockies to Salt Lake City, and then through Reno and Sacramento into Emeryville/San Francisco.
Oh my Judy love love this song as I do your song Morocco. May you always know how your singing has brought me comfort and hope and sustained me all these years! 💕
Ah, such a beautiful song - such lovely lyrics. So very well written. I close my eyes and visualize what it must have been like to live in Colorado through the eyes of a young girl. I have only been to Colorado once, during the summer in (Estes Park and Loveland) for a few weeks visit, back in about 1972 and I was a teenager then.

Pretty amazing to hold onto that voice and lovely attitude for 6 decades. She always had great taste in recording choices. And her melodic piano playing is too often ignored. This song and "The Blizzard" are perfect bookends.
My favorite song by Judy collins is who knows where the time goes that she does . Judy Collins has one of the prettiest voices I have ever heard . I hope Jesus blesses you and you have a great successful new year Judy . This to is such a pretty song done by a lady as I said by a woman with a voice as I said like an angel .
That is such a lovely song and it was equally lovely reading the various comments from those who recognize Judy Collins for her continued quality of voice and sentiments! Saw her Live a few years ago up in Bayfield WI and it was an evening of enchantment.
So beautiful. There are no words - other than Judy’s voice is clear , beautiful & refreshing in a world where music is often overproduced & lacking real depth. Bravo , Judy! 💕💕💕
Judy this song is wonderful and I cannot believe how mesmerizing your voice still is. I want to thank you for bringing this album to my brother Phil. You know how much he loved you. 🙏
