- And 20 years later, they were at it again. I think this was from a 20th anniversary reunion special. Bob McGrath (by then on Sesame Street) looks like he's having fun back with "that gang that sang Heart of My Heart." I wish I had the rest of the show, but this was one I downloaded last time it was on youtube--if I recall, it was posted by tvcollector.
oh God Bless him is he????? WOW... I am 44 yrs old and I love Mitch Miller, part of the music I grew up on, my parents had alot of his records and I always loved his singing, his orchestra... reminds me of my grandparents, my parents, and listening to records with them, what "bittersweet" memories... aw... Thank you Mitch and RUclips...
Fondest of memories...Me and my Grandpa singing this together in 1959. Miss him!! Thanks for sharing this! It was his favorite song!!
My Dad's favorite MM song as well.
Thumb up if you got here learning about Bob McGrath's passing today. R.I.P.! You enriched so many lives (virtually every American child, and probably comparable numbers internationally!) in so many ways!
RIP Mr. Miller, you brought a lot of fun and happiness to this kid.
RIP, Mitch. Even in your 100th year you were still winning fans!
What a great man! For decades I didn't give him much thought. Now I'm born again - realizing the special wit and good music of Mitch Miller.
thanks I can still remember my parent's singing in the living room to songs like these on shows like this. Good god how I wish kids today could feel that just once, I think x-box sales would decrease 10 fold.
My father and his brothers would sing this song. My Grandfather would be at the piano. Fond memories.
I loved this show!!! This brings back so many memories. Thanks so much for posting this.
I came here because of the recent death of Bob mcgrath. Loved him on sesame Street and didn't realize he sang. I watched Mitch Miller a lot when I was a kid so I watched Bob then and didn't even realize it. I miss them all.
RIP to the legendary Mitch Miller who passed away today!
He lived to be 99, which is fantastic. Also RIP to Rosemary Clooney, Bob McGrath, and Irene Cara (who was too young IMO).
Mitch, you have touched the hearts of many people. Thank you for all that enjoyment. Rest in Peace.
Ron
In my home we watch Mitch Show and yes we sang along! Thanks for the Memories, Mom and Dad Loved this show. They're in heaven now but you just bought me back to some very special time with my parents. Thanks!
Nice to see Mitch and the gang 20 years after the TV show. I was a young lad when the original show was on, wish they had full episodes online somewhere.
Thanks Mitch Miller for everything...we will miss him...RIP
And now might he rest in peace. Mitch Miller, July 4, 1911 - July 31, 2010
I still own two of Mitche's classic Christmas albums on vinyl!!!
RIP Mitch Miller a popular musical legend
Incredible--Irene Cara was discovered by Mitch Miller and there she is singing Heart Of My Heart.
It almost makes my heart ache to hear this and all the Sing Along With Mitch clips. Wish there were more. I spent many a night with my parents and grandparents watching Mitch and the gang. So funny to hear these wonderful songs and know all the words by heart.
Mitch you were truly one of kind and your music too
I played this at home directed at the children... This kind of stuff has a strange mesmerizing effect them...

He had about another 13 months then.

this must be the 1981 show he had 20 years after the original show .
Amazing!!! Mitch Miller is still alive!
Ah... At (cocktail) parties, my folks would pull out the sing along sheets, pass them around, and everybody sang and laughed their heads off. We kids thought it was really strange and very square.
Heart of my heart
RIP Mr. Miller

REST IN PEACE DEAR SIR
Bob McGrath from Sesame Street!!
Mitch left us in 2010 at the age of 99.
Damn.......Mitch had a Brotha' singin' with him!! Even back in the day.....wow
at 0:31 is that Bob from Sesame Street?
In the words of my Russian pen pals----DA!
siggghhhhh those wonderful days before synthesizers ruined music...
Mitch did a show in the 90s about Barbershop music featuring the quartet Rural Rout 4. Does anyone have a copy of that?
Bob McGrath from Sesame Street 😊
I could have sworn that it was "Mitch Miller and the bouncing ball'... I thought there was a ball that would bounce upon the words as they were sung so as to know where one should be to keep up with the lyric.
Guess that memory didn't hold up well...
The lyrics were displayed, but there was no bouncing ball. A sitcom on NBC around that time, MY MOTHER THE CAR, DID display its theme lyrics and used a bouncing ball to follow the lyrics.
@Jaimo1985 yes, indeed it is.
I believe he still is. According to wikipedia he lives in New York City.
@Jaimo1985 ...yes siree
The guy appearing at 1:14 looks like Screech on "Saved By The Bell".
@trwent lol yeah ROFLMAO!!
Isn't he still quite active?
@djonyviiiick he just died.
Irene Kara??? Yuck
