Nice one, Karl - our man at the coalface. It looks like things are beginning to move faster, which is nice. A little birdie tells me that the latest plan for HS2 is that it will definitely run from Euston to Crewe. All the carnage around Aylesbury could be worth something after all. Onwards to Manchester, I say ... Keep 'em coming ... 👍
Cheers. I heard that too about the northern leg. It will just be called something else. I'm surprised at how quickly this Oxford Road bit has progressed in the last few weeks. I reckon that planning issue must have halted proceedings for a while and now it's all approved everything is coming together quickly.
Sadly, your "little birdie" is woefully incorrect! Earlier today, LBC radio suggested that the government were planning on reviving the Phase 2 section between Handsacre junction & Crewe in the new year - a reversal of the previous government’s cancellation of the leg last October after costs had spiralled to £36 billion. However, a few hours later, the PM's official spokesman said .. "as we set out in the King's speech, the government will not reverse the decision to cancel phase 2 of HS2. As you know, the project has been repeatedly delayed, costs have spiralled & the project has clearly been hugely mismanaged". Excellent news indeed as HS2 is an environmental disaster of epic proportions & Britain's biggest infrastructure mistake in half a century.
In addition to planning delays the other issue is and has been cost. HS2 have been placing some work on hold as the funding isn't readily available to keep up with interim payments to Contractors.
Karl - good stuff as ever; this is getting to the most exciting bit, the whole transition over to the new road layout.! I can almost see you camping out, stocked up on snacks and a large flask of hot tea, following progress. Drone stuff will be ace to see, capturing some of the work if you can... 💪. Subbed.
Sadly a waste of money when the country refuses to provide an adequate pension for those of retirement age, sad that infrastructure for the minority is given priority , good informative videos , thank you
Adequate pension?! You're saying that we should give more money to the generations that not only had it all, but are also statistically the wealthiest demographic cohort in the country? We need to stop spending money on the people of yesteryear and start investing in the people of today. This railway is a highly necessary part of the investment into the future.
That's what the information from HS2 says, from the 25th anyway until the 4th. Maybe those men I spoke to didn't know for sure. We will find out very soon!
I believe that's what's happening, 18th-21st closed, then closed again 25th Oct- 4th November. It will be a relief when it's finally open and done with, it seems to have dragged on indefinitely.
Always enjoy your A418 updates, thanks.
Thank you.
Thank you for all this real information and views ..thank you ...
Thanks, looking forward to seeing the new road.
It’s been a long time coming this opening! Watching with interest 😎👍🏻
