- The Hole in the Rock trail is the kind of off-roading experience that has it all. If you like to camp and overland, rock crawl, sightsee, or actually drive historic trails, this is a destination to add to your bucket list. There is an option to travel either section of the trail; one from Escalante to the hole in the rock, and the other crosses the Eastern side of the trail from Halls crossing on Lake Powell to a view across the lake to the Hole in the Rock. The trail was established in the winter of 1879 and todays Jeep trails stay amazingly true to its path. Take a look at what Hole in the Rock Utah has to offer.
Hey great video about a historic and epic trail. Thanks for the shout out to my son Chet's Eagle Scout project. It should be noted that it took five years (and a change in park service leadership) to get the permission to mark the 'slick rocks' portion of the Hole in the Rock Trail. These cedar posts are anchored with cement in holes drilled into the sandstone. Lamont Crabtree was instrumental in obtaining permission to install these as well as positioning the posts. We hope that they stay undisturbed for a long time.
I’ve watched this video at least a dozen time, best Jeep video ever!
Having done the Hole in the Rock trail from the Escalante side, out and back, in a Jeep, I can tell you this: it’s definitely an adventure of a lifetime. At about 63 miles, one way, it’s an all day trip. When you’re out there in the middle of nowhere, with no cell reception, just you and your Jeep, it’s very humbling to think what those pioneers must have been thinking.
Great video. Makes me want to jump in the Jeep and go.
You and me both!
This video is a masterpiece.
We appreciate it!
Awesome video, thanks for sharing!!!
This is an unbelievable video. Videography is amazing and composition truly professional. I'm seriously impressed.
Wow, thank you!
This is such a good video! Good work!!
Glad you liked it!
Great video. I have been lucky enough to run this trail three times over the years. Twice from the east side and once from the west. When we reached the top of the crack on the west side, we hiked down the trail that had been constructed down to the lake's edge. We were amazed knowing wagons were lowered down this route. The holes in the canyon wall to build the road were still there. And the climb back to the top was incredibly tough. My legs were on fire by the time we reached the top of the trail! But what fun we had.
I like how all the Teraflex videos are extremely well produced.
Beautiful video
Dennis and crew, thank you for this! Great production and history lesson of the trail/area...Always love your content! Thanks again! 👍👊🇺🇸
Nice video. Five of us did the trail last August. Camped three nights on the trail. Fantastic experience we'll never forget.
So epic! Great video! Now on my bucket list!
I love the way you put this together having grown up in the four corners, and never done the hole in the rock trail, it’s definitely been one of my bucket list trails and this gives me incentive to get on it. Thank you for sharing.
I love all of these types of videos.
You got to love these flicks. Great history lesson for the day.

Really awesome video! Nicely done!! Thank you 🙏
Amazing visuals and interesting narration as usual, the effort you take in tracking down the history of these trails is incredible, a true enthusiast.
Amazing Documental Great Job !
Awesome video.
Some amazing history in that part of the world. One of my ancestors was in the hand cart expeditions that settled in Salt lake. Would love to do this trail.
Great video!!!
Out of all of the aftermarket parts I’ve put on my Gladiator those Falcon shocks have made the most improvement. Next will be the adjustable steering stabilizer and those fancy ball joints. Thank you for making a great product!!!
Stoked to hear it!
Great job on the video mixing a modern adventure with the history of the trail!
Y’all should do a whole series on trails with this formula. I bet the history channel would pay you for it if they can find a spot between alien shows.
Those sure is some good lookin trailer queens!
OUTSTANDING!!!!!!
Another epic job with editing
Awesome video! I need two things now, a Jeep and to do that trail!
Amazing video and history lesson. Both sides are a bucket list for our jeep. Can the east side be done without lockers? I have a beautiful 2015 jk with one of your suspensions and falcon shocks.
Is awesome!!!
Such an amazing video! I was thinking of taking my inflatable paddle board down the hole in the rock trail to the water, anyone know if any camping I can do around there? Would be sweet to paddle board to a beach/opening and camp. Also, any advice on this type of 1 night dispersed camping at Lake Powell would be greatly appreciated.
Don’t see the Gladiator at the end of the trail in the video. Will a gladiator make it? Exceptional video. Thank you for creating and sharing.
Yes it will!
Well done!! Great views!! Love the history lesson along the way!! Hope you turned off the air conditioner some so you could rough it like the original trail blazers.
Can you imagine if those settlers had gotten to see a JL?? They would be blown away.
Beautiful job on this video. More than just a RUclips video. @10:42
Attention other Jeep RUclipsrs...THIS is how you shoot, edit and make a video.
How do I give this beautiful vid five likes?
My 2021 JLUR can't get here soon enough!
Great video, what sort of equipment was utilized on the various rigs?
Like a bedtime story to keep you awake...
That trip looked awesome that would be something I would like to to do will my jlu spot with 33" be ok to do
Any word on the timeframe for the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon lift for the diesel?
What fenders are on that white JL at 38 seconds in? The black JL at 2:25 also has them?
They look like Nemisis
Fit Pro- They are Nemesis Industries Notorious & Crawler Flares. They are absolutely amazing and I run them as well on my JLU. nem-ind.com/jeep-wrangler-body-armor/jeep-wrangler-jl-18-19/flares.html
Wait did I just see a JL with Front and Rear Teraflex Bumpers!!!!!?????!!!!!!
So... whatever happened to Steve? I need answers!
Steve is still here!
I hate living in southeast Ohio, there are no public access trails, and almost no ohv areas, most are just mud holes or only built for atv. If i wanted to go to a public trail it would require a 4 hour drive one way
