We tried it starting at Lake Powell. I was definitely out of shape. My brother was a good cyclist. rode his bike to work most days in Logan and on occasion to Brigham City or Tremonton. He had also ridden Lotoja several times. We pushed our bikes most of the way. That was close to 20 years ago and now the OHVers have made the trail a lot rougher. I wouldn’t even recommend riding a bike across Grey Mesa now. That was flat and the only place we were able to ride. Absolutely don’t even think about trying the ride by yourself!
@@bruceredd3480 one more question. In the video they don't go all the way to the hole in the rock. Is there a reason they aren't able to go all the way to it?
Wrong Side of the river. I really hope they don’t go crazy and push the road down to the lake. Where they stopped is at the top of Little Hole in the Rock. Since I have two sides of my family that were a part of the expedition and settled SE Utah I feel a little protective. It really is awesome what my great great grandparents did.
This is the Hole-in-the-Rock trail on the east side of the lake. The trail doesn't descend into Cottonwood Canyon to the lake, but ends about 3 miles short. To access the actual hole in the rock you need to take the hole in the rock road on the west side. That is a much more user friendly road and will take you directly to where the blasted the crack for the road. @reabbotted
If you are an experienced SXS enthusiast, is this trail marked well enough that you can follow it without a guide your first time? I do have Ride Command with my Polaris RZR Pro S, so it is likely saved in the system.
What time of year did you do this. We did the same route but ran into rain and lightening right before getting on top of Grey Mesa and turned around. Great summary of trail highlights.
I would love to go on this trail in my general. With a group like this
Bucket list trail in my jeep!
Let’s go!
That's cool, I've wondered if I could do it by bike

Great summary of trail highlights.
We did the ride mid-December.
I’ve had snow in March on this trail.
I really enjoyed the video, but just one note background music is too loud and it detracted from the video.
