    You got one wrong it was in a letter from Benjamin Hawkins to then president George Washington to be exact "I'll be there God willing and the Creeks don't rise" he was referring to the possibility of a Creek Indian uprising. Benjamin Hawkins was the first Indian Commissioner and at the time he lived just west of what is now Macon Georgia.

    ...creek doesn't rise... Originally said - written in a letter to President Washington about getting to the capital upon being summoned. 'The Creek' is held to be the Creek indian tribe. The matter is not settled if the Tribe or body of water.

My grandmother used to say "if it was a snake it would have bit me." when finding something that was right in front of her for that she'd been looking for. Cherished memories.

    I had heard half to two-thirds of these before. Some were variants of what I learned - I grew up with “as useless as tits on a bull,” and you had the variant.
    My grandma used to say, “I’m so hungry I could eat a horse - and chase the rider!” Mom occasionally said, “Well, I guess she flushed your toilet!”

Here’s an old saying that everyone says backwards, you can’t have your cake and eat it too. If it’s your cake, why can’t you eat it? It’s supposed to go like this, You can’t eat your cake and have it too. Doesn’t that make sense? Speaking of sense, always carry some coins in your pocket. If someone says that you’re senseless, you can say, no I’m not, I have plenty of cents, as you pull a handful of coins out of your pocket.

    His dog chases parked cars.
    I saw something dumber once.
