You got one wrong it was in a letter from Benjamin Hawkins to then president George Washington to be exact "I'll be there God willing and the Creeks don't rise" he was referring to the possibility of a Creek Indian uprising. Benjamin Hawkins was the first Indian Commissioner and at the time he lived just west of what is now Macon Georgia.

I had heard half to two-thirds of these before. Some were variants of what I learned - I grew up with “as useless as tits on a bull,” and you had the variant. My grandma used to say, “I’m so hungry I could eat a horse - and chase the rider!” Mom occasionally said, “Well, I guess she flushed your toilet!”

Idk if we are also supposed to have memory issues in our old age but so many duplicates and even triplicates, but some funny ones I haven’t heard either
I understand how it feels when you come across the same sayings repeatedly it can be a bit frustrating. But hey, at least some of them were new and gave you a good laugh! Maybe it’s a sign that the classics never really get old, even if we’ve heard them before.

I had heard half to two-thirds of these before. Some were variants of what I learned - I grew up with “as useless as tits on a bull,” and you had the variant.
My grandma used to say, “I’m so hungry I could eat a horse - and chase the rider!” Mom occasionally said, “Well, I guess she flushed your toilet!”
