Forgive my guitar, it refuses to stay in tune for long! (turns out I hadn't tightened the tuner screws in years)

The pick squeaks were soooo creepy and good! I remember learning this song off this video a couple months ago :)

Digitech GNX 3000, they're discontinued now, but you can get them second hand, if you get hold of one I can tell you the settings, if not, my guitar is a BC Rich, and the pick ups are their stock EMG pick-ups, I definitely recommend getting decent EMG's and you're half way there to getting the same tone or bite that you want to get. It's all about tweaking and getting the right frequencies ;)

Hey man great job! Sounds like you could play for the band easily xD. But seriously great job. I have a question though. I'm about to turn 17 and I've been playing since I was 15. How long did it take you to learn to be as good as you are? Because even to today I would only consider myself amateur, like a 2/10
Don't think of it like that mate, every time you practice, even if it feels like you've made no progress, you are making progress. I've been playing for 10 years (started at 16) the first few years I wasn't able to play much of what I wanted to, but I could figure out small parts at a time, and that's what I've always done. It doesn't necessarily mean it'll take you 10 years to get to a level you want to be at, could be a year from now, or a few years. It's really down to how often you practice, and your desire to play.
All I'd recommend is not to spend time trying to learn hard stuff, and getting frustrated. Learn the stuff you feel is possible, and is fun to play, and before you know it, you'll be playing stuff you thought would be impossible for you to play, and you'll be having fun doing it, since that's what it's all about!

Sick cover of a sick tune. How do you learn them so fast?
Thanks mate, I'm not sure, some songs just come naturally, real fast, others I just spend a lot of time listening, and figuring out. I really enjoy the process of it though, so I guess that helps too.
How do you get that awesome tone? Could you tell me the settings for the dials on the amp? I can't seem to get a decent tone myself. And amazing job with the cover, awesome skills.

Quick question, what strings would you recommend, mine are always buzzing do you use?

First of all, thank you very much! :) And secondly, I'd say 0.54 - 0.56's but the key is to adjust the tension on the bridge to get a nice balance for the strings, not too loose or not too tight. That's why yours are buzzing, you need to raise the strings just a slightly bit higher when they're thicker to get that same tension you feel with a standard set of strings.

In the intro, what do you do with the 3s and 4s? I can never get it to sound right.
There's a slight chug of the open string before you hit each note, and then you've got to hit 4 to 3 real quickly as if it's just one note. 0-0-3>4-0-0-3>4-0-0-3>4-0-1-0 - if you play those tabs real slow, you'll hear it, and then you can speed it up when you're ready.

Thanks a lot man, I have an ancient thing called a Digitech GNX 3000, they're discontinued now, but you can find them pretty cheap second hand.
To be honest you could do better with a basic interface then some amp modelling software.
I dunno, i just can't hear any attack and it kinda annoys me here, maybe you like it so i dunno.
Either way, using your camera mic isn't going to cut it, so invest in a decent audio interface (i have a scarlett 2i2 and if you're serious about recording i'd recommend shelling out for a 2i2 or 2i4), but if you don't have the cash go for something cheaper, it'll still be better than your cam sound. Try to make sure it has a gain knob at least.
From then go to amplitube/TSE X50/guitar rig/whatever. If you opt for amplitube, try to get some decent cab impulses, I personally don't like the integrated ones. X50 is probably the best if you only want metal tones tho, easy as hell to set up. Never tried guitar rig but it's an option.
Last option is mic-ing up your cab. Most popular choice is an sm57 but whatever boats your float (or you can get a hold of).
Then just put it in reaper or whichever daw you like, and tweak till you get what you want. Recording and editing music is a good skill to learn.
And can you layer your track over the actual music track, if I watch a cover i'd like to hear the song itself and not just the guitar parts.
