In 2020 I started a new job, bought a home and was dating a man I thought I’d spend the rest of my life with… in 4 years I lost the man, the job, my mother developed a terminal illness and I became a full time caregiver. Thankfully I still have the beautiful home I planned on filling with children, and I do have a great job that allows me the flexibility I need to care for my mom. But I’m now 40 and have no plans of dating ever again, lol. I’m thankful for the life I’ve lived, and I’m happy that God blessed me to see 2025. I have no idea what the future holds but I’m hopeful that it will be bright. You’re a beautiful person Stephanie, and truly a gift. I hope you get whatever it is you want in life ❤

I just want to add to the record that I'm a subscriber who's watched every single one of your videos, even the ones about reality TV shows I've never seen, simply because I love your point of view and the way you explain it. You so genuinely, articulately and humorously share your experiences. It's something that not only narrative television and movies can't touch (Insecure could never) but other RUclipsrs can't achieve. There's a kind of relatability to your content that surpasses even our very different life experiences and goals: I'm a bisexual polyamorist who never wants to get married or have children, but your very specific feelings and reactions and the way that you talk through them have been so elucidating to me. I know you focus all too much about making this a job, and I also know that positive comments have a fraction of the impact negative ones do, but I watch your videos within the first hour they come out because I'm so genuinely interested and whatever you have to say.

Hi Stephanie. I think you are absolutely spot on in your analysis of your channel. It’s not just that a lot of your content is be considered ‘vinegar’ . As we all know, the Internet is already a negative space . Bad news sells better than good news. The problem arises when people who look like you or are in a similar situation regarding love and marriage see you as a reflection of themselves. So when you say things like ‘ I may never get married’ Or ‘ I will probably never have kids’, It feels as if you’re telling them that they may never get married or have children. Now they feel like the negativity is towards them and not just some random celebrity. At the end of the day, I strongly believe that you have a gift for speaking and storytelling. I prefer your Storytime and talking videos, not because they’re negative but frankly, because you could talk about anything and I would still listen to you. Have you ever considered including stories with positive outcomes every once in a while? Maybe that’s something that the algorithm will love but dunno 🤷🏽♀️. Anyways, keep doing what you do and I wish you all the best xxx
@@hellostephco84 what about having people write in their own dating stories/struggles and then do commentary on the social issues that are related to it. Not necessarily advice or offering the solution, but just discussing how people in society are when XYZ situation happens. Sort of how you do your social commentary on celebrity gossip. Your perspectives are very empathetic and nonjudgmental so I think people will feel safe sharing their stories with you.
Agreed, plus the idea of relatability in today's world usually comes with some kind of monetary gain for the creator. It's sad but there are still creators that can remain genuinely relatable and carve out a living for themselves without the obvious scrambling for ad reach.
Wow. I just read the email she received from the viewer or ex viewer and i couldn't disagree more. I'm very much helped by Stephco's videos. I find her videos fun, informative, entertaining, reassuring, and cathartic. I find comfort in her stories and I'm proud and encouraged by her bravery in trying things out and putting herself out there. She's doing something and having experiences and while they may not always produce the best feeling in the end, she's living and doing something rather than being so afraid of criticism that she hides away and refuses to move. A lot of ppl are too afraid to do anything and she really encourages the faint of heart to be brave and that we're not alone so that means there's someone out there just like me and therefore there's someone out there just for me. I love Stephco's content and would be sad to not have her voice on RUclips

Listening to Steph is like sitting down with a girlfriend and a good cup of coffee and just talking life. So many people want to run from reality and pretend everything is ok. It’s a shame folks can’t just be themselves and if the content isn’t for them why hate watch, just move on.
I don't have a uterus lol. It's a long story but i've explained it in another video. I have advanced fibroids and the next step is a hysterectomy and I don't want to do that until after menopause bc it might not be necessary since the fibroids do shrink during that time. I'm blessed to still have regular cycles and not have a body or life that's too impacted, but I can't carry my own children. But i do know that some women can still get pregnant in their forties! Just not me. The baby would not survive. Sad stuff! But I'm happy for others and it took a long time to get to this point of acceptance and I'm super proud of me (it took a really long time omg)

I find many Obgyn’s are quick to do hysterectomies and it’s a lazy option for doctors who aren’t as skilled. You’re in Austin and I recommend seeing Jennifer Travieso at Ascension.

You're not in this alone it was not the year for a lottttttt of people including myself. The highlights of my 2024 was traveling. The lowlights of my 2024 was gain 30lbs due to work/man stress, Let my job Christmas Eve, left my man Christmas Day, lost about 6 friends.. It's the 3rd day in 2025 and i'm currently jobless, manless, friendless and looking for a job, apt, and man in NYC. At 25 I did not see my yr starting off this year but here we are. I am delusion enough to believe things will all work out. I am a dryer and doer ... if something doesn't work keep switching it up and trying other avenues that will work. My Primary Goals this year: A weekend job that accomodates around masters program, a sugar daddy /sugar boyfriend, sugar fiancé/ sugar husband, a good apt, losing 30lbs, eating healthier.

My RUclips pet peeve is when creators make videos essentially saying “I was secretly struggling with singleness/fertility/finances/career/life for the past six months/ten years ago/always but now everything’s great and I’ve got my happy ending”. I have so much more respect and interest for content that documents the journey, not just a positive outcome. There are woes and wins and wonderings! It's always interesting to me how people can read/watch the exact same thing and interpret it so many different ways. I read the email before I heard steph's summary of it and I didn't get any of what she said. I believe (but def could be wrong) I can typically tell when somebody is having good intentions, shady intentions or bad intentions. I really think that commenter thought she was doing good, even though it was just unnecessary feedback. I also understand her perspective on how she experiences thia type of content. Doesn't mean Steph has to change anything about her content.
I came to say this. I didn't really see anything wrong with the e-mail in and of itself (or at least, I felt that the woman had good intentions and wrote it in good faith...)
Not to monopolize your comments, but as a singer/songwriter, I came to this same conclusion. The market didn’t really want my brand of unproblematic, uplifting music, so I got a regular job in the industry and only perform and put songs out when I want. I felt like a gave up for a while, but having insurance and a retirement plan made up for that. Such is life.
💯 As an indie author, I concur. Sometimes that's the balance an artist has to strike to stay authentic and sane. You can make peace with that compromise when you're willing to release attachment to the outcome you originally hoped for. Those who cannot release have to lean into being pidegonholed in order to earn fame.
I will say Steph I absolutely adore just hearing you talk about whatever topics and would honestly tune in if you had a podcast. I’m just not really a vlog watcher 😅 unfortunately but love hearing you talk. Wouldn’t mind if you just gave your input on random reality shows like you did with love is blind. Your content is always such a guiding light and validates our experience as women in our 40s in this time. 6:26 We also never hear the stories of people who forced matters in their late 30s. Steph, even though I'm in my early 30s and married, your videos validated my dating experience as a dark-skinned black woman. I wish you were on RUclips in the mid-2010s when I was out there. I would have appreciated knowing that I wasn't crazy. Back then Molly on Insecure was probably the closest representation I had to being on those dating streets. I am praying that 2025 will be your year like 2024 was Reesa Teesa's year. You are just as talented of a story teller and have insightful takes into pop culture and media.
I completely understand maybe trying to do a career switch. I tried to do the content creation/entrepreneur thing and it was a long drawn out hot mess 😭 so when I recently got a new job I decided to kinda quit trying to make money with it and focus on using my channel to document my hobbies and creative journey. Just filmed my first video on that for the year. I’m excited to just let go of trying to make it work, I’m ready to just have fun and create art again. Hoping the same for you too! That lady who sent you that email talking about your life...are we not allowed to express ourselves for the chance that other people will watch and redicule? I say if they don't really care about us they would leave us alone and not make fun of us. If someone is pressed male or female that is their problem. I will not be silenced, and you shouldn't feel that way either.
Something I wanted to say that I didn't include is that while I respect her choice to talk about her issues with a mental health professional and leave them within the confines of the therapist office, what about people who don't have access to mental health resources? What about people who are not currently seeing the right mental health professional? I had people reach out and tell me "my therapist told me these things were in my head, you've convinced me they're not". Expressing yourself in a public way and allowing others to hear your struggles may be a bad content strategy but it can be a very helpful tool for human connection. Her suggestion that I only express myself in the way that she (and many others) have decided is the "approved" way was classist and restrictive. But, I have seen her sentiments expressed many times so I included them here even if I don't agree, I do acknowledge and understand.

Im glad you are letting go of expectations, because I found expecting my life to get suddenly better always made me so sad when a new year came and it didn't. (which is why i steer clear of astrology - makes you believe in something that is purely up to chance). After covid I decided whatever happened, happened and in that year, i met my partner, moved out of my cold damp house share from hell, quit teaching and found a high paying job in Project Management (and yes I do travel for work - LOOK INTO IT!!! Many transferable skills from teaching oddly) and now im pregnant. It all happened once I let go. I wish this for you.

Don’t feel bad. 3, say it with me every body IT IS BECAUSE YOU/I ARE BLACK, that’s it that’s all. With the advent of AI I would recommend an experiment: reupload your story with a different face/race and suddenly everybody can relate. This space is so unbalanced.

People born or raised during a certain decade 1920s-1960s) have a behavior of being silenced and how having a voice was always shunned. I think thats what that angry email viewer might be doing not realizing she needs therapy. They have been robbed of openly and confortably expressing themselves without consequences.❤
You know what’s interesting? I read that e-mail and did not think the writer was angry. I thought she is just a person who is grappling with the very abrasive realities of her life that are linked, in part, to her Blackness and to her physical appearance. I posit that her e-mail (at least the part we saw) did not have solutions because she is still trying to find a way to carry the immutable elements of herself with grace and dignity. She is trying to be indefatigable while life delivers a series of brutal body blows. But, that’s just how I saw it. I know other’s opinions will differ.💖

I can 100%% relate to the personal year 8 and a universal year 8 cycle experience. I entered 2024 super excited and full of hope after leaving my corporate career and training as an esthetician and turning 30 in march. I barely got any clients, struggled to make ends meet, barely grew my TikTok following to 1k 😅 I’m now on anti-depressants and looking to get back into a corporate job. But it was definitely a growth year for me, the universe showed me all the ways in which I was giving my power away. Now I’m entering a 9 cycle I’m really focused on creating stability for myself.
Interestingly I don’t listen to anyone else on RUclips. I love your content! Keep doing what is best for you. I literally wish we could be friends. Maybe it will happen serendipitously. And yes, hook ups can turn into more, but he literally never gave you more. For the whole year he didn't give you more. Last week my friends and I got together and talked about some painful life experiences and it really healed us. I have a close girlfriend who is drop dead gorgeous and she told us that she still has trauma from going to an all white school and being told she was ugly because of her race. And guess what? All three of us had been told that before. I personally had a white boy tell me that he thought I was funny and beautiful but would only be interested in hooking up because I’m black. I quickly declined his insulting *** offer. Anyway because of my friend’s honesty i felt safe to share my negative experience from high school as well. When someone is vulnerable it causes a chain reaction of vulnerability and honesty and it helps us all to know how to move forward in strength knowing that WE ARENT the problem and the world we live in that paints blackness as undesirable IS the problem. And it helps us feel less alone. Anyone that says you shouldnt talk about that is not interested in progress

In 2020 I started a new job, bought a home and was dating a man I thought I’d spend the rest of my life with… in 4 years I lost the man, the job, my mother developed a terminal illness and I became a full time caregiver. Thankfully I still have the beautiful home I planned on filling with children, and I do have a great job that allows me the flexibility I need to care for my mom. But I’m now 40 and have no plans of dating ever again, lol. I’m thankful for the life I’ve lived, and I’m happy that God blessed me to see 2025. I have no idea what the future holds but I’m hopeful that it will be bright. You’re a beautiful person Stephanie, and truly a gift. I hope you get whatever it is you want in life ❤

I just want to add to the record that I'm a subscriber who's watched every single one of your videos, even the ones about reality TV shows I've never seen, simply because I love your point of view and the way you explain it. It's something that not only narrative television and movies can't touch (Insecure could never) but other RUclipsrs can't achieve. There's a kind of relatability to your content that surpasses even our very different life experiences and goals: I'm a bisexual polyamorist who never wants to get married or have children, but your very specific feelings and reactions and the way that you talk through them have been so elucidating to me. Hi Stephanie. I think you are absolutely spot on in your analysis of your channel. It’s not just that a lot of your content is be considered ‘vinegar’ . As we all know, the Internet is already a negative space . Bad news sells better than good news. The problem arises when people who look like you or are in a similar situation regarding love and marriage see you as a reflection of themselves. So when you say things like ‘ I may never get married’ Or ‘ I will probably never have kids’, It feels as if you’re telling them that they may never get married or have children. Now they feel like the negativity is towards them and not just some random celebrity.
At the end of the day, I strongly believe that you have a gift for speaking and storytelling. I prefer your Storytime and talking videos, not because they’re negative but frankly, because you could talk about anything and I would still listen to you. Have you ever considered including stories with positive outcomes every once in a while? Maybe that’s something that the algorithm will love but dunno 🤷🏽♀️. Anyways, keep doing what you do and I wish you all the best xxx

Not necessarily advice or offering the solution, but just discussing how people in society are when XYZ situation happens. Sort of how you do your social commentary on celebrity gossip. Your perspectives are very empathetic and nonjudgmental so I think people will feel safe sharing their stories with you.
Completely agree with the take that 'relatability is a scam'. Internet popularity is very fickle and not something one can pin their self esteem on.
Agreed, plus the idea of relatability in today's world usually comes with some kind of monetary gain for the creator. It's sad but there are still creators that can remain genuinely relatable and carve out a living for themselves without the obvious scrambling for ad reach.
Wow. I just read the email she received from the viewer or ex viewer and i couldn't disagree more. I'm very much helped by Stephco's videos. I find her videos fun, informative, entertaining, reassuring, and cathartic. I find comfort in her stories and I'm proud and encouraged by her bravery in trying things out and putting herself out there. She's doing something and having experiences and while they may not always produce the best feeling in the end, she's living and doing something rather than being so afraid of criticism that she hides away and refuses to move. A lot of ppl are too afraid to do anything and she really encourages the faint of heart to be brave and that we're not alone so that means there's someone out there just like me and therefore there's someone out there just for me. I love Stephco's content and would be sad to not have her voice on RUclips

I don't have a uterus lol. It's a long story but i've explained it in another video. I have advanced fibroids and the next step is a hysterectomy and I don't want to do that until after menopause bc it might not be necessary since the fibroids do shrink during that time. I'm blessed to still have regular cycles and not have a body or life that's too impacted, but I can't carry my own children. But i do know that some women can still get pregnant in their forties! Just not me. The baby would not survive. Sad stuff! But I'm happy for others and it took a long time to get to this point of acceptance and I'm super proud of me (it took a really long time omg)

I find many Obgyn’s are quick to do hysterectomies and it’s a lazy option for doctors who aren’t as skilled. You’re in Austin and I recommend seeing Jennifer Travieso at Ascension.

You're not in this alone it was not the year for a lottttttt of people including myself. The highlights of my 2024 was traveling. The lowlights of my 2024 was gain 30lbs due to work/man stress, Let my job Christmas Eve, left my man Christmas Day, lost about 6 friends.. It's the 3rd day in 2025 and i'm currently jobless, manless, friendless and looking for a job, apt, and man in NYC. At 25 I did not see my yr starting off this year but here we are. I am delusion enough to believe things will all work out. I am a dryer and doer ... if something doesn't work keep switching it up and trying other avenues that will work.
My Primary Goals this year: A weekend job that accomodates around masters program, a sugar daddy /sugar boyfriend, sugar fiancé/ sugar husband, a good apt, losing 30lbs, eating healthier.

I love your content! My RUclips pet peeve is when creators make videos essentially saying “I was secretly struggling with singleness/fertility/finances/career/life for the past six months/ten years ago/always but now everything’s great and I’ve got my happy ending”.

I totally understand the sentiment. People accuse you of "giving up" because this kind of choice forces them to confront their own fantasies and fears. They have no clue all the time and energy it takes to *invest* hope in a fruitless endeavor. Free yourself!
It's always interesting to me how people can read/watch the exact same thing and interpret it so many different ways. I read the email before I heard steph's summary of it and I didn't get any of what she said. I believe (but def could be wrong) I can typically tell when somebody is having good intentions, shady intentions or bad intentions. I really think that commenter thought she was doing good, even though it was just unnecessary feedback. I also understand her perspective on how she experiences thia type of content. Doesn't mean Steph has to change anything about her content.

I had to go back to read the email, and I agree with you.
Not to monopolize your comments, but as a singer/songwriter, I came to this same conclusion. The market didn’t really want my brand of unproblematic, uplifting music, so I got a regular job in the industry and only perform and put songs out when I want. I felt like a gave up for a while, but having insurance and a retirement plan made up for that. Such is life.
💯 As an indie author, I concur. Sometimes that's the balance an artist has to strike to stay authentic and sane. You can make peace with that compromise when you're willing to release attachment to the outcome you originally hoped for. Those who cannot release have to lean into being pidegonholed in order to earn fame.
I will say Steph I absolutely adore just hearing you talk about whatever topics and would honestly tune in if you had a podcast. I’m just not really a vlog watcher 😅 unfortunately but love hearing you talk. Wouldn’t mind if you just gave your input on random reality shows like you did with love is blind. Steph, even though I'm in my early 30s and married, your videos validated my dating experience as a dark-skinned black woman. I wish you were on RUclips in the mid-2010s when I was out there. I would have appreciated knowing that I wasn't crazy. Back then Molly on Insecure was probably the closest representation I had to being on those dating streets. I am praying that 2025 will be your year like 2024 was Reesa Teesa's year. You are just as talented of a story teller and have insightful takes into pop culture and media.

I completely understand maybe trying to do a career switch. I tried to do the content creation/entrepreneur thing and it was a long drawn out hot mess 😭 so when I recently got a new job I decided to kinda quit trying to make money with it and focus on using my channel to document my hobbies and creative journey. Something I wanted to say that I didn't include is that while I respect her choice to talk about her issues with a mental health professional and leave them within the confines of the therapist office, what about people who don't have access to mental health resources? What about people who are not currently seeing the right mental health professional? I had people reach out and tell me "my therapist told me these things were in my head, you've convinced me they're not". Expressing yourself in a public way and allowing others to hear your struggles may be a bad content strategy but it can be a very helpful tool for human connection. Her suggestion that I only express myself in the way that she (and many others) have decided is the "approved" way was classist and restrictive. But, I have seen her sentiments expressed many times so I included them here even if I don't agree, I do acknowledge and understand.

Im glad you are letting go of expectations, because I found expecting my life to get suddenly better always made me so sad when a new year came and it didn't. (which is why i steer clear of astrology - makes you believe in something that is purely up to chance). After covid I decided whatever happened, happened and in that year, i met my partner, moved out of my cold damp house share from hell, quit teaching and found a high paying job in Project Management (and yes I do travel for work - LOOK INTO IT!!! Many transferable skills from teaching oddly) and now im pregnant. It all happened once I let go. I wish this for you.

Steph I don’t like people easily but I really like you …why? Because you represent me. You’re not negative you’re authentic. Your struggle videos give me hope and are NOT traumatic because they’re relatable and I feel less alone. If people don’t resonate sure…if people don’t like it sure…but there are many of us who get it and need content like this. Some people just don’t like the truth and anything honest is negative or confrontational…that’s their issue NOT yours. Thank you for sharing and being yourself.

It is inherent in human that when you complain about something , they automatically think, even deep inside, it is your fault. Like U said in previous video, they often reply " I would never allow to be treated like that", when one can see they do desperate things as well😢

🤔That email reminds me a convo being had on some podcast or something and they were talking about older women would quiet younger women from voicing discomfort, or displeasure.
People born or raised during a certain decade 1920s-1960s) have a behavior of being silenced and how having a voice was always shunned.
I think thats what that angry email viewer might be doing not realizing she needs therapy. They have been robbed of openly and confortably expressing themselves without consequences.❤
You know what’s interesting? I read that e-mail and did not think the writer was angry. I thought she is just a person who is grappling with the very abrasive realities of her life that are linked, in part, to her Blackness and to her physical appearance. I posit that her e-mail (at least the part we saw) did not have solutions because she is still trying to find a way to carry the immutable elements of herself with grace and dignity. She is trying to be indefatigable while life delivers a series of brutal body blows. But, that’s just how I saw it. I know other’s opinions will differ.💖

Honestly i just love listening to you talk about things. Whatever the topic may be.
I can 100%% relate to the personal year 8 and a universal year 8 cycle experience. I entered 2024 super excited and full of hope after leaving my corporate career and training as an esthetician and turning 30 in march. I barely got any clients, struggled to make ends meet, barely grew my TikTok following to 1k 😅 I’m now on anti-depressants and looking to get back into a corporate job. But it was definitely a growth year for me, the universe showed me all the ways in which I was giving my power away. Now I’m entering a 9 cycle I’m really focused on creating stability for myself.
Interestingly I don’t listen to anyone else on RUclips. I love your content! Keep doing what is best for you. I literally wish we could be friends. Maybe it will happen serendipitously. I’ll keep watching all 2025. These long ones are my favorite so I can listen like a podcast while driving or cleaning.

And yes, hook ups can turn into more, but he literally never gave you more. For the whole year he didn't give you more. Please don’t listen to that lady who said you shouldn’t speak on your experiences or that you are “parading trauma”. That lady reminds of the old folks in my family who think the best way to handle trauma is to sweep it under the rug. That hasn’t worked for their generation and it’s not gonna work for ours.
Last week my friends and I got together and talked about some painful life experiences and it really healed us. I have a close girlfriend who is drop dead gorgeous and she told us that she still has trauma from going to an all white school and being told she was ugly because of her race. And guess what? All three of us had been told that before. I personally had a white boy tell me that he thought I was funny and beautiful but would only be interested in hooking up because I’m black. I quickly declined his insulting *** offer. Anyway because of my friend’s honesty i felt safe to share my negative experience from high school as well.
When someone is vulnerable it causes a chain reaction of vulnerability and honesty and it helps us all to know how to move forward in strength knowing that WE ARENT the problem and the world we live in that paints blackness as undesirable IS the problem. And it helps us feel less alone. Anyone that says you shouldnt talk about that is not interested in progress
