  • In this video we're pre deer season scouting WMA's in preparation for hunting season. I showcase the beauty of the endangered Florida woods and swamp. With building and growth on the rise in SOFLO its a blessing to be able to escape into the little bit of Old Florida we have left. We will find many animal food sources, butterfly host plants and remains of animals that once walked the woods. Today we scout 2 areas in attempts of locating high traffic trails and heads of wood to put our cameras up. The hope is for good feedback from the trail cameras so we can come back to hunt the spot on opening day. If you plan to hunt make sure you have all the proper licensing and education to do so. Florida laws are strict and there are plenty of them, educate, educate, educate before going out!

    +25yrs hunting Florida WMA's, tip for summer scouting: bring an umbrella -- provides decent heat relief as you walk! Especially areas where there's no canopy.

    I just spent 29 minutes with Cheyenne, and I'm a happy man. Even with the heat and humidity you looked cool Cheyenne:-)) Thanks for the small rant and I loved the comment about pansies. Oh, I forgot about the trashy people who can’t pick up after themselves. They were raised by trashy parents and weren’t taught about responsibility. When ever I went hunting and camping with my kids, I taught them to leave our camp site cleaner than when we got there. We all need to be responsible as we are the stewards of the land and seas and we need to protect and take care of those places.

    Those pond apples are called crab apples, an yep deer will devour them when their ripe, we only knew of one spot where they were in the Corbett area 40 + yrs ago, an we could alway get deer an hogs there. Deer are known to eat over 400 different types of food sources, exactly how many different species in fla, I don't know.

    The terrain where you hunt looks very strange to me being that here on the west coast we don’t have palmettos and all the other junglely flora.🤣 The areas I used to hunt in had pines, grass and rocks. Oh, and little plants with seed pods that when you used to brush against them they sounded like rattle snakes. Hope you have a great deer season, how far from these areas is your home?

  • @turdferguson5300

    Hunting is so different in flat land, I wouldn't know where to start. I've always lived in the hills of SE Tn. with the acorn trees and natural funnels. Were you find the most sign here is where the deer were feeding last week. The acorns on the tops of the ridges will drop first because they get the most sunlight. Don't hunt there though there will be lots of sign. The trees are dropping on the sides and bottom by the time season opens. If it's been a dry summer the trees along creeks will have acorns. If I can find a place where a tree fell across a fence that's a good funnel, or a place where water runs off a bluff. A good buck won't travel far without a good reason. In Florida I'd be lost or gator chow !

      It’s definitely a different habitat than what I’m used to hunting. I can’t imagine hunting in the temperatures that you Floridians have to deal with. You must really have to work fast to process your meat.

    That was a fun woodland tour for a MN hunter. What cams did you get? I keep saying I should get some too, as I hunt all public lands and have time to really hunt around, but the season starts and I start moving around sitting and scouting and time flies and deer get taken, so I'm still a camless goof. Appreciate your fondness for hiking and enjoying the workout aspect of hunting. It does save you money too, which can ultimately mean more time for more hunting for more of your life because you can attain financial security and comfort sooner and choose freedom and adventure over work to pay for unnecessarily expensive and nonessential things. You'll boost your savings rate for your income you make and stay in great shape. Keep up the good fun.

      I like that analogy about saving money! Never thought that deep into it!! We each have one Tacticam cell camera and a few super cheap tascos . I’ve hunted Montana in the past with rifle and I couldn’t even imagine trying to pick a spot. There’s so much open land, how do you choose!?

    • @aaronalto3034
      @aaronalto3034 2 года назад

      @@CheyenneLeeBehrsinMy MN woods are sort of like your guys turf, but different tree species, so it's same game you guys guys work, bottle necks via wetlands, and multiple trails junctions. You mentioned setting up not being able to see far, which totally rang true for me too, but we do travel a bit to some public ag lands and I love seeing deer on the move at a distance that I wouldn't normally see in the woods. We hunt the public during the wk (back to that early retiree, choosing freedom thang) so we usually have it our selves during archery. Keep up the good fun and intense adventures.

    Hi Cheyenne,
    I enjoy your videos of your hunting and outdoors adventures. A month or so ago, I watched your video about scouting for FL hunting sites. I just watched it again this evening, and I'm saddened to see that apparently the Wokesters have gotten to you (perhaps it's about making money and keeping all varieties of subscribers). In the original version, you comment about doing things the old-fashioned way, using your own legs, and not wanting to be a pansy riding an ebike. That commentary is now all gone, and there's no mention of ebikes/side-by-sides, etc. I guess some of the snowflakes got their feelings hurt!
