Back during late spring, I built 4 raised beds that are 9 ft long x 6 ft w x 24 in deep. I saw a crew trimming the trees around the powerlines and roadsides. I was able to get them to drop me a full load of those woodchips and mulch. Along with tree limbs, cardboard and other compostable material from around the property on the bottom, that load of free mulch was a huge money saver. Just topped with leaf compost. Next spring, I know it is going to settle. I can get mushroom compost. I am topping it off with that b4 spring planting. Wish I'd of put these in forever ago... Love your videos 🥰
Yes! Been doing Hugelkultur for years now with great success. All kinds of peppers, tomatoes, etc. Patio tomatoes are a bush style determinate and one of my favorites. Very gratifying to grow your own. It's a labor of love. Simply can NOT beat vine ripe!
Did you struggle at first with the tomatoes? I’ve heard such bad stories of tomatoes getting diseases in spreading them that I’m almost afraid to plant them

@@CheyenneLeeBehrsin Get some chickens, and cuddle them lots, and they will become some of the funniest animals you will ever own :) I have photos of my kids sound asleep with their chicken under a blanket, cuddling it like a cuddly toy, I have photos of them riding scooters sitting on my kids shoulders, the list of photo's goes on! The chickens also nail the garden pests as well! Kids aside, the chickens are just funny, they are not always bright, but I promise they will do stuff that will make you laugh all day long. 👌🙌👍P.s For a Coup, I just bought a very small do it your self garden shed and just modded it and put a roost in side. It is easy to then open the door and clean out the over night fertiliser for the garden fwiw.

Runoff from the roof will flood the beds, you'll probably have to move them next year. Squirrells are cute and fun to watch, but when you start growing a garden they become monsters, the most humane way to control them is a fenced in yard with a dog that loves to chase them (some kind of hunting dog, like border terrier, as most other dogs will ignore them after a while). A pool noodle makes a good armrest for the metal raised beds, while weeding the beds can be therapeutic, standing bent over takes its toll and the pool noodle is a cheap way to soften the edge, just slice one side and slip it on, remove it when you're done weeding. Kelly should have access to cow poop on the ranch. You could toss a few fish in there also. In southeast Tennessee we have a growing season but with proper plant selection you may be able to grow all year long.
Good looking beds! Looking forward to seeing what you guys grow out of them! Also, there's no such thing as "cubic square feet". They are 2 different measurements. A square foot is a measurement of area (2 dimensional, LxW) and a cubic foot is a measurement of volume (3 dimensional, LxWxH). In this case you're talking about volume, so it's 12 cubic feet (the equivalent to about 90 liquid gallons).
Great way improve the garden, growing veggies can be very rewarding, there are so many paths you can go down, hopefully you'll be expanding your raised beds and reaping the rewards of well placed investment and hard work. For future raised beds, might I suggest you look into incorporating "Wicking bed" system, it is a great way to effeciently maintain watering regimes in raised beds, especially benificial in tropical climates. FYI Pineapples do really well in pots (well drained potting mix). Strongly advise to create a separate compost/worm farm system to add to you gardens (make a varmit secure composting section to help deal with all your fish scraps, and beach combed seaweed. Raised beds always take surpising amout to fill (12 cubic square feet? LOL ;D ) ..... a little planning can really help keep costs down, early prep by loading up your pick up/truck/ute with cheap (sometimes free) bulk manure (from stables), wood chips/grass clippings (from commercial tree removal or yard care businesses in area) can really help prime your beds. At first I thought these beds were horse troughs that are water proof (duh they hold water) from the insides. I like the height of them since it’s easier on your back when you tend them.
if you need more compost stuff , most landscapers have to pay to get rid of it , so if you ask they will sometimes drop off loads of wood chips or other cutting if they are working in your area, Good Luck

This is so wrong what you are saying. Please read James 2:18-19 which disputes two of your points. Just believing....even the demons believed in Christ. Paul says by his works his faith is shown. Add a gutter and they will be ok or a couple of door rain guards will solve the runoff problem .. The pool noodle is a great idea !
