I do suspect A&H have put a dodgy stock fader in there expecting a good number to upgrade to an innofader - something I did after learning there needs to be at least one more curve setting between middle and left to blend house music. The lack of flexibility would only leave the line faders. The innofader is a fiddly, time draining job but the Xone series needs one to complete a great product. Good video sir.
Had this mixer for a few weeks now - agree with everything in this review. I am stunned at the crossfader - it's incredibly poor for a mixer at this price point. £100+ for the Innofader upgrade is a bitter pill... Apart from that though, loving the sound quality and the Serato integration is spot on and really tight.
Yep, a pair of 1210Mk2s and Serato Control Vinyl. I've since added the Xone K1 MIDI controller which really opens up the Serato FX and looping capabilities.
@@gnollins are you getting quite a weak signal from the phono inputs playing vinyl compared to line? I have to turn the agin all the way up to 3 o'clock to get enough volume out of my turntables!
@@ioandavies8423 I sold my Xone 43C and bought a Xone 96. The phono inputs on the 43C are quiet, but does it matter as long as you can make them loud enough? Some cartridges have a higher output than others (the Ortofon Concorde Nightclub series, for example) which can improve things.

Why hate on A&H for the Xone:62 when you could hate on them so much harder for the execrable Xone:32, with its trim knobs on the BACK of the mixer, requiring DJing's first reach-around just to mix? I think it makes a lot more sense to judge A&H by the excellent Xone:92, or the DB series.
I absolutely get it, but I have a soft spot in my heart for the old 32. It was the first Allen & Heath mixer I ever used and made me fall in love with them.

I returned it to the distributor, who tested it, and then every other boxed mixer in their shop, and found the same result. They contacted A&H who said this was standard production quality - a constant line hum from the master outputs. Also agreed that the crossfader was crap, and replacing & servicing it is a PITA - why not just have an easily removable plate?
Great review! Quick question regarding the X:FX feature: are those knobs really worthless if no external FX unit is connected? I am wondering if one can just route the sends RCA into the return RCA and the click the X:FX button in the filter unit. Then those nobs would control, per channel, the LP/MP/HP, no? Thanks! Patrick
I wish it was just a double version of the 23 without the C because I don't care about Serato but do care about analog. Thinking I may just end up with 2 X23's eventually... Unless they finally release a 24. Waiting on that to happen along with say a Kaoss Pad 4 and an MX-2...
Now that this mixer is Traktor Scratch Certified, it appears that the Xone 43C is a better alternative to a Nexus mixer than the DJM 750mkII if you think the crucial Nexus feature is compatibility with both Traktor and Serato. I think that's a lot of Serato and Traktor users because we rely on those effects rather than Pioneer's beat synced and sound color effects.
@@dandjp82 It works great with Traktor Pro 3.3. It's a class compliant sound card for Mac; it isn't problematic like the DB series with Mac. The 43C is especially great if you can't decide whether you want to use Traktor or Serato because you can use both!

@@dandjp82 You are probably thinking of the 23C, which is wired out of the box with 1 and 2 on stereo channel 1 and 3 and 4 to record but if you want DVS functionality you need to open the mixer faceplate and switch the cable from one part of the circuit board to another so that 3 and 4 route to stereo channel 2 as outputs rather than inputs 1 and 2. I did that mod to my own 23C and installed an InnoFader but not everyone wants to do that. The 23C is great for Traktor with an X1 but it doesn't support Serato. The 43C doesn't require any mod to record the output signal but you still need to install an InnoFader if you need a sharp cut for scratching. The 96 is the only Allen & Heath that comes with an Innofader on all models. I use a separate two channel soundcard to record mixes because I record into the same laptop I use for DVS and that avoids crashes/drop-outs/etc. because the 'work' is offloaded to the mixer's internal sound card to output and my recording sound card for input respectively.

I use traktor and still use 2.8 and Audio 8.Been told could use 43c and PX5 as analogue mixer and not need to update software as later version don’t support audio 8. Would also need to update my OS X and my laptop getting old so don’t want to spend out all at once. Nightmare. Thanks for your time you been really helpful
Hi Mojaxx. I have a Xone 43, Kontrol X1 mk2 and a Pioneer Interface2 as obviously the 43 doesnt have a built in soundcard. I use both Traktor and Rekordbox for DVS with 1210s but cant get post fader effects to work at all. You mention the send/return is post fader but I wonder why they wouldnt be with a device connected by USB? [the x1 mk2] Any input would be greatly appreciated
Wouldn't it be possible to just set the X-FX knob to full (100% wet) and then just turn the RMX-1000 on and off with its dedicated button? Then you wouldn't have that phasing issue.
Problem with this is, is that the wet part bypasses the filter, so this means you can't filter an individual track anymore. However you can filter the total mix with your xfx filter button.

I am wondering if you know how the xone innofader made for the A&H mixers will interact with the crossfader curve controls? It has 3 curve settings but how will those settings work with the new xone innofader? I can't find any info on it and want to know before I order the fader.
so there isnt an on and off switch for send/return, just dry/wet? I've got an rmx 1000 and was considering this mixer. Does it limit you a good bit? on my pioneer mixer i just turn the effects button on and off and you can also be creative gating effects with that too.
I've played with this a little since it came in Friday. To me the gains seem way to hot when using the line in inputs. If I have the xfx cranked fully ccw to dry the gains have to be turned almost all the way down. If you have the dry/wet at the 12 o'clock notch then the gains are somewhat normalish....still too hot me thinks.
Off topic, but with regards to the 62 I don't know why the crossfader is even relevant anymore? The 2 best DJ mixers on the market now are the Model 1 and DJM V10-LF, neither of which have a crossfader. Why? because nobody cares about performance/battle mixing anymore.
The crossfader and the upfaders all have a similar quirk in that the blend is super smooth until the last 20% when it can drop in our out quite suddenly. My workaround is to just work the EQs more aggressively. Apart from that it’s a solid piece of kit
Hey, I'm looking to upgrade my Xone 32 as it's had it's day. Can this mixer be used just to control Serato so I could get away without using turntables? I want to buy loads of tracks unavailable on vinyl (my primary medium) but don't want to faff about with the time code vinyl etc as it's just for the odd track to chuck into my otherwise vinyl only sets. Bear with me...I'm clueless about digital stuff.
If you're still mainly playing vinyl, I'd just buy a CDJ to go with your set up. That way you've got an extra 3rd deck to play your digital tunes and dont have all the hassle of a laptop/dvs system.
Me too, don't get me wrong. I will always mix DnB on my 1200's, but beat matching house and techno is incredibly monotonous to me now, I just prefer to have that taken care of while I concentrate on using remix decks and effects (within reason, nothing is worse than some slaphead DJ who mutilates a load of tracks with too many effects!) I'm actually in the market for the new 1200, waiting on the UK price tag, wouldn't surprise me if they ask for £4000, which is essentially about $6500 or so, so I might order from the states.
+hypercatjohn Makes sense! I mix purely dnb with vinyl still, but I'm planning on branching out into other genres and upgrading to digital.. I ideally like cdjs but as i already have a macbookpro, a dvs system would be sooo much cheaper!

Ha, that silver X:one 62. Three of the venues I DJ in still have those. They come out, my Z2 goes in.

You can! I use a Xone PX5 with Rekordbox DVS with no problems at all!

So, the fader is not good for blending when u switch to the lower curve? I was thinking about getting but i am a blender.
You'll need to spend time adjusting to how it works, but then you'll be fine. The blend curve is smooth, just a bit different from the norm.

Well I bought a Traktor Kontrol S4, works a treat. Not even remotely a hassle, either.
