I live in the desert where there is little to no moisture in the air so glycerin draws the moisture from my hair instead of from the air. So be careful in dry climates with using glycerin.
Tip for low porosity hair: open your cuticles by rinsing hair with cold water… (like as cold as you can take) in the shower. Like 2-3mins. After that, spray the rose water on your hair shaft (or scalp, it’s your call) . Then seal with either sweet almond oil or vitamin e oil, or whatever oil your hair likes. Most important step is opening your cuticles with cold water. Cold water also eliminates the frizz from warm water. So every time you wash your hair, always do final rinse with cold water.
@@Yolandaareynolds yup it helps seal in the moisture . I remember a beautician telling me that years ago but of course I forgot . Thanks for your comment.
If u have starter locs don’t put glycerin in your hair especially if u go outside and it’s the summer time . It will draw the moisture out of the air and when u wake up some locs will be unraveled .
great to know!! I have a concoction of glycerin, rose water and tea tree oil - I just started my locs and it's all I have but noticed that my ends aren't staying. this def is the reason already lol need to get more plain rose water
Love this video. I have regular rosewater, but I keep glycerin on deck for some DIYs, so I may add it. Also, from what I remember, glycerin is a humectant, which is basically used in products to attract and maintain moisture. So it seems like a great product for low porosity hair for sure. Thanks for the vid...😊
@@lillybanks6999 from my understanding, with low porosity, the hair is harder to hydrate. BUT once it is, it tends to retain the moisture longer as well.
@@cocoliwise oh no! i feel like i never got around to trying it on my hair. Hopefully, you find the right product to help get and maintain your moisture. It can be a difficult trial and error.
I'm not loc'd, but keep my hair in two strand twists monthly & just bought rose water for my scalp & hair. My hair doesn't like alot of product or to be messed with often. I'm hoping it will like this.
Hi, I understand because my hair is the same way. I can’t do a lot of products or styling so I tend to leave it be most days lol spritz with a little water and oil and go about my day lol I have to try the two strand twist!
Your locs and color are so pretty 🤩 Lol l am low po . low porosity is hard to absorb , but we actually retain well. The cuticles “ blinds” are closed as they lay flat along the shaft, but once moisture does get in , it is in .
Thank you! I used a box dye from Walmart years ago. I honestly don’t remember the color but it didn’t take good. My natural hair is brown/light brown so the dye added a reddish tent to it .
I’ve heard so many different stories when it comes to water temperature. I just use luke warm for washing and conditioning . An old beautician of mine used to recommend luke warm/cool water for rinsing . At this point idk what to believe 😂
@@makaylawilson6654 I just didn’t feel like it it moisturized my hair better than the regular rose water so after the bottle was gone I didn’t purchase it again.
@@LatoyaClark I purchased the Rosewater and Glycerin when our local health food market went out of business. My locs loved the first spray but the next day they felt like there was a coating on them. I like using rosewater by itself and once made a batch but that’s another story. I poured half a bottle of rosewater and glycerin into an empty bottle. I filled the original bottle with distilled water. This eliminated the kind of sticky feeling on the second day. I do not use a lot of product on my locs but they do like a good spray with distilled water. The rosewater and glycerin mixed with distilled water works great in dry climates during the summer. I live in Maryland where it’s humid in the summer but this mixture keeps my locs moist and soft throughout the day. I have very low porosity hair. When I did the test I left a strand of hair floating on top of the water for almost 24 hours before I poured out the experiment. Will I buy rosewater and glycerin when I finish my last bottle. If I find another really good sale, probably. I have had no build up issues. Love your locs😊
Thank you! I’ve actually only dyed them once, about two years ago but it didn’t really take the way i wanted it to. I naturally have a dusty light brown hair color lol
Yup I do still use this maybe once or twice a week and I sprayed some oil on my scalp because it was a little dry. Honestly I don’t use product often, mostly water so I don’t have issues with build up.
The regular rose water is ok but when I do use it I always follow up with an oil like vitamin e or coconut oil. It really just depends on your hair type. Thanks for watching ❤️

Cold water closes the cuticle

@@LatoyaClark yes that’s what I meant to say. It seals the moisture
@@brilynn4037 I was just about to say that! I went to hair school and cold water closes and seals, not opens!!

For low porosity? Help me understand.
Low porosity is the hair that’s on the dryer more brittle side ?
@@lillybanks6999 from my understanding, with low porosity, the hair is harder to hydrate. BUT once it is, it tends to retain the moisture longer as well.
I so wish glycerin worked for my low porosity hair. For some reason it irritates my scalp.

Did ur hair like it???
Thank you for this detailed information. I love the color of your hair and how most of the tips are pointed.

Thank you and thank you for explaining that more in detail !
Is there any difference between the rose water used for hair and the one for face????
Nothing. The Rosewater and Glycerin from The Heritage Store is packaged as a facial spray, but it also works on locs.

I live in a damp place so I'm good lol my hair missed glycerine so bad during the beginning of the lockdown!
Winter time only it's moisturizing. In summer or dry weather it dries hair by stealing moisture from it. That's kinda what i heard about glycerin
Yup I’ve heard the same thing .
Your locs are beautiful! How did you achieve that color!?!?

I use rose water in peppermint oil
