I can't believe this happened - Zip line disaster.

  • I want to first reiterate that this zip line malfunction is completely our error/user error, and no fault at all of the SkyMule. Thankfully the SkyMule itself wasn't damaged in this either, which I forgot to mention. I also should mention that Steve did feel bad about this happening, knowing how much time and effort I put into making all of this lumber, which is why he is now setting things up better. Do I wish he listened to me and that my lumber didn't get wrecked? yeah. But I'm looking forward to the new system he installs - like any new invention, there is always a trial and error period, right? 😊.
I try to be as honest as possible here, and some part of me thought to just let this whole incident slide by and not share it publicly, but this is all part of being human and I value sharing both the good and bad. So much of life is perspective - 10% what happens to us and 90% how we react to it. I was very upset about this happening, and did have a melt down, but it was very short-lived and after I decided that I wouldn't kill Steve (😜), I decided to thank him for helping me 😊. No one got hurt, and that is truly what is most important.
Thank you for joining me, and I will see you in the next video!
    Michelle 💕

The music at 7:30 reminds me of the old days living in Kentucky, sitting on the porch of my back woods shack, a little home brew, my old guitar and my bloodhound, Red, barking at some critters. Didn't have no GPS in those days, so Red was on his own to get back to the domicile. Such a simple life.

As an added bonus, a motor could be added to retract the mule up to the start point. Doing great, and yes, that damaged wood can be part salvaged for a privy or elsewhere, so glass half full. I'm glad everybody is ok. Things happen, and we learn, move on and rebuild. On an unrelated note. I held out for the longest time from trying diesel as a saw lube, but I won't be going back. It works incredibly, and you only need a very tiny drip, unlike water or any other mixed fluids I've tried. The saw blades are as clean as they are coming out of the box brand new. And there is a light oil film on them which keeps them from rusting. I had thought the smell of the fuel would be bad, but you can't even smell it on the lumber. Admittedly, my clothes smelled a bit like diesel, but not bad at all really.

I'm looking forward to seeing what Steve comes up with on the return line for the SkyMule now, and very surprised he thought at the time that amount of weight could just be let go without controlling it's decent, on what was the current setup. Live and learn...and think he knows better now! I'm especially thankful for you now, on how the sliding glass door got down the mountain, and the controlled decent by you during that. I love your outlook on things once the smoke cleared in this situation, and wonder if Steve will give your thoughts/ideas, during things like this, more thought/consideration in the future? **fingers crossed** Stay safe y'all...and Clyde please wonder closer to Mom and Dad in the future!

No human or animal injuries that’s a good thing. Materialistic things can be replaced ( with patients) . When you said “ that’s to heavy” oh boy came into my thoughts , then it happened. Good to hear that everything will work out eventually. Take Care. 👍👍😊

Sorry to hear about your skylift issues. At least no one got hurt. That spinning hose reel could do some real damage. That would be a sad sight to see tears coming from those beautiful blue eyes.

Well there's almost always a silver lining to every bad situation. At least you know your limitations now, and there's always room for improvment, and necessity is the mother of invention.

Sorry to see this happened to you (Michy Bunyan) ! I can see that you are quite emotional and upset about it. Most importantly nobody was hurt! Keep up the good videos. Have a Happy Canadian Thanksgiving! Oops it has passed.

Sorry to hear about Hannah. You do some dangerous activities and I often wonder if your going to get hurt. I've taken calculated risks myself over the years but I still would rather live life on the edge over living the ultra safe life. Your videos are always interesting and amazing. Keep safe!

"Well, that didn't go quite as planned!" Physics, gravity, mass, momentum, strops, ropes and knots... - You've got some kindling! 😁
I'm glad you're all safe and Clyde is home after drifting off AGAIN! - I wonder what smells he finds out there?! - Large cats and bears I guess? Press onwards another step. Fortunately you have lots of trees, so quantity of wood is plentiful! Love your work Michelle, you're one tough woman! ❤

Wow! Well done. Thank you for a really good job of putting together a video to tell the story. So glad nobody got hurt. When energy gets out of control, it can have tragic consequences. This retired engineer is looking forward to seeing what Steve comes up with to improve the Sky Mule. I have to say, the Sky Mule has had some pretty amazing moments - getting that door down there undamaged being one of them. That was nothing short of amazing.

Hello Michelle Glad to see you both are okay amd all not so much for the sky mule though. Maybe Steve can come up with a gear reduction on it and lower material down the mountain and maybe even bring materials back up it. As far as your dogs goes Poor ole Clyde seems to get lost very easily these days guess that's something you will just have to live with bless his soul He really loves you both an wouldhate to see him get lost or maybe even hurt himself. I pray that you can get everything done too as winter arrives soon. Far as the materials goes thank god for all the trees and someone like you who loves her sawmill can do the work in replacing what you have lost. looking out for your next video and hope you get it the way you want it. Looks Cozy place to stay in just don't sleep walk . LoL 😂 😂

Smooth seas never made a skillful mariner. Also, when we are passionate about a project, it's really easy to be deceived by a pace subject to time constraint and obstacle. Careful safety first mindset, sometimes slowing down is exactly what we need to gain traction and compound progress. Great honest video. It would be the worst to see you, Steve or any of the dogs get hurt. Keep up all this great work is such amazing environment!
