      I'm an American who started playing soc.....er futbol about 20 years ago. Came across the EPL one day on cable and was immediately hooked. Loved the passion of the fans, the rivalries, and the intensity of the game. Seemed like a real sport compared to the over-commercialized junk that sports had become in the U.S.
      Sadly I can't watch EPL anymore. It's become the same mediocre crap as everything else that's marketed to the "prawn sandwich brigade".

    This was when football was at it's absolute peak.Contact was actually allowed,tough characters ruled and the entertainment was unsanitised.
    Keane and Vieira were the last 'Guvnors' of the game before football went soft and stopped what we used to know as tackling.

    I remember watching this game on television and they caught the tunnel incident as it took off. I saw Vieira shrinking in front of the Keane onslaught and as Graham Poll called it all to order and the teams went out I said, "Nobody has kicked a ball yet but United are well on the way to winning this game". What a winner. You would always want him in your side.

    An absolute leader for so many years. He was at the heart of the greatest English football team in history and the mentalitly was at 100%. A fantastic footballer mainly because of his mentality in my opinion. There isn't a captian like him at all in the premier league right now.

    1:02 "It's a physical game and I think fans enjoy that as much as scoring". True words. Everyone who lived through the 90's and early 00's era misses that side of football. There'd have been a dozen red cards in some Arsenal-United games in the late 90s and it was brilliant. Men against men.

      Pssht unfortunately that’s what’s held the English National team back for years!! While everyone else (Spain, Germany, Brazil to name a few) were out there teaching their youngest technique and skills, the English were always picking the most physical to progress in the clubs! Luckily this has now changed 👍

    One of the best MU ever had in the squad and we really don’t give him enough credit for it. He was tough and fearless and a great inspiration for his teammates. He was the making of Ronaldo who was a junior player under him and gave him his philosophy of not falling over constantly and being resilient. Good on ya Roy!

    no words for this man. honestly. i cant even say there s been another player of anywhere similar profile in english football ever. if you ask anyone who grew up watching football at that time - like me - who s your first name on the team sheet if you could build an XI of any player in the league. he s that player for anyone even rival fans, no doubt about that. absolutely elite at everything even the intangibles that made him the best leader in football history.

People have come into this rhetoric of ''he was such a great leader but thats why he was in the squad not his skill'' prime Roy Keane finished the league season with 11 goal contributions (More than Pogbas first season here and five less than his second) 4 tackles and interceptions per game (Pogbas peak in the PL is 2.8) he also was third in the league for successful presses and added to that with 1.2 key passes and 1.4 dribbles. Keane was talented.

    I'm an Arsenal fan, and I miss those days (I'm sure the Man U fans do as well), was always great to watch those two battle it out. What I would call "proper" midfielders. Imagine either of them in either of our midfields today. They would destroy worlds.
