Nitecore have a useful little kit here with the 21700 i series battery, this is a custom cell which has both positive and negative connections on both ends. The cell can also be used in "normal" devices such as torches/flashlights.
Using a magnetic connection you can attach items to it. The MPB21 Kit comes with the ML21 Light/lantern which has an output of 80 lumens, and the MPB21 is the power bank module, turning the battery into an ultra compact power bank.
I look at this kit, show you how it works and what I think of it. There are some obvious advantages here (super compact size and you can simply get spare/replacement cells), it's small enough to carry with you anywhere or as an emergency power or light source. There are a few areas where I would make some adjustments, and I discuss this in the video.

I like that you mentioned the short circuit protection, and showed it not sparking and shorting. I was interested in just that :D
Thanks. Have to have it on this it would short quickly otherwise
It's very good and useful.
you can use it as a light, charger, and spare battery.
I like it with a few tweaks it could be even better
Clever product 🙂 I don't like the micro USB port though. It feels too outdated. I would probably buy this, but ONLY if they upgraded to USB-C.
You are right it should have USB C, it is odd. Still the concept is a good once
I have two of them i bought a few years ago, very good lights, great to have at home 👍🏻
No question useful, perhaps they can tweak the concept a bit later on
@@MrBazReviews 100% agree about the usb c and different light levels.
This Nitecore adapter supports the other 21700 batteries ? or we need only this spetial 12700 battary ?
It only works with the custom battery unfortunately
Nice review. Could you provide links to the battery monitoring devices you demonstrated with in the review? Thanks
I've added that there are a few the UNI T is good, but you need a constant power source otherwise it will reset (ie a powered USB port not power bank)
The other ones are various USB ones. amzn.to/3rCNL2P
5000 mah battery shouldn't it have a discharge output close to 5000 ? How is 3200 decent ?
Battery nominal voltage 3.7V, output 5V so the voltage boosted means you lose capacity. EVERY power bank works this way, You NEVER get the rated output ever. Typically 60-65% on the best ones. Factor in efficiency loss with cable too.
Want to know the temperature when you using it as a light and power bank. Also, it do not have any protect shell does anyone willing to risk if the battery exploding?
It's barely gets warm the temperature is no concern. These cells are in stainless steel cases, they are not easy to damage
Micro USB good for 2008. Not for 2023
I agree I want to see the type C port on this
I just don’t take products seriously when I see micro usb😊!!NEXT
Type A and micro? 😞 That's a deal-breaker for me. Is there a Type C version available?
I'm not aware of an updated version, it would be pretty easy to do. I have no idea why they used Micro USB it's annoying
Mr Baz" your excellent" i absolutely enjoy your little forays into the world of Cell powered illuminatory devices, All the verybest for the Constant disturbance, namely -the Earths Current & on-going Mind Fu*kery" At least we can Light the path ahead, sorry couldnt help meself on that lame as pun, lol. Be good and thanks. B-b
This is good, bar the few points I mentioned. It's one for the "post-apocalyptic" EDC bag. Or perhaps one to just keep around and use when required.
I recommend watching the Last of Us to get into the vibe on that, it's quite good really.
Maybe I should deep dive more into this type of product ;-D
I dont buy nitecore products because of they still using micro usb that showes you that they prefer to save 50 cents per unit instead of giving us usb-c
I don't think there is a royalty for type C anymore, but I hope they change the design and use it
@@MrBazReviews there is if they mentioned USB Type C as a feature on packaging they can avoid paying it if they didn't mention what is a charging port type on a device
@@khaledaboizzat Either way it should have a type C, perhaps they will modify it can't be that hard to do. They have a powerbank with a type C port using this battery, I might look at that soon.
the thrunite ts2 blows this out the water while being cheaper . go for the olight if anyone is considering this nitecore because of the micro usb , if people stop buying the old micro usb devices eventually companies might get the message , but even the micro usb aside the thrunite is way better than this
I've not used it, but it does look interesting slightly different take on things. There is potential with this to change a few things and push the concept more.
@MrBazReviews if you get a chance I would grab and as I think thrunite nailed it with the ts2 , great bit of kit amd a really good price , would highly recommend them to anyone
@@alpinab14 Yes I might try one the design looks interesting. I did look at some other videos people made, strangely they got very few views really, seems it hasn't caught on for some reason.
I do have a nitecore power bank coming in a compact carbon one, they have discontinued the F21i. They could update this one, and it would be even more appealing
NOT a good value in the US. Thrunite has had a similar option for awhile that was $20- when it came out, and now floats between $25 and 30-,
NOT a good value in the UK either, Thrunite also had a similar option here!
The custom cells are more expensive, the Thrunite was I think an 18650 power bank where you could unscrew the body cap and replace the cell.

香港那里有此牌??
Not sure what you mean card?
The year is 2023, and Nitecore is still using micro-usb instead of usb-c.
The item was on my shopping cart and was totally buying this until i saw the micro-usb nonsense.
i immediately removed from my cart and delete this crap product.
I agree it needs a type C port, and it's something that is very easy to do. I hope they can change it because it would have much more appeal
