  • Big areas, big trendy glasses, yesses, t-shirts that go down to your knees, skinny jeans, life lessons instead of sermons, pastors as Christian celebrities instead of servents. Talk about how God wants to bless you, but no mention of his judgment. Everyone gathers to be entertained, but there is no true fruit of real life change. A church more concerned with relevance than with God’s revelation. A church more concerned with relatability then their accountability to God. This is celebrity Chruch Culturecelebrity pastors and it needs to change.
    and it needs to change.

That’s why there are more false converts in our day than any generation before. There are so many kids growing up in these churches and when they become young adults end up “falling away” because they start questioning things that should have been answered many years ago. As a person who is engaged in apologetics, I sometimes ask questions to people like, you believe in the Trinity right? They say yes. I ask why? Sometimes I met with a shrugged shoulder and sometimes I get, because the Bible teaches it. I say good, you’re right the Bible does teach it. My next question, can you please show me where throughout Scripture it teaches on the Trinity? Almost always I am met with I have no idea. For someone raised in the church they should absolutely know where to turn throughout Scripture and find where this doctrine is laid out. I personally was not raised in church and didn’t come to Christ until I was in my mid 20’s. I’m almost 35 now and I have come across so many people who barely know the foundational doctrines of the faith they claim to belong to. Something needs to change or we are setting the church in America up for destructive failure.

Correct, I have seen it get progressively more blatant in the Baptist church I was attending for over 10 years. You’re welcome. There are so many fantastic resources out there to properly learn biblical theology. But unfortunately the average Joe doesn’t know where to turn to get these resources. The church at large needs to stop worrying about feel good sermons on Sundays and equipping the Saints with how to understand their faith, defend it, and utilize it when engaging with others.

I had a discussion about this with a friend and he informed that as long as the focus with the preachers sermons, is on life lessons, man centred instead of God centered, a you focused approach then a Jesus focused approach, then that's were the problem lies. He also mentioned that some of these churches include aspects of the world culture, they put on shows, entertainment, advertise using movies and certain secular songs etc. And I didn't see a big issue with it at first until I came across other churches which just as much influence but their sermons and social media platforms presented a more God focused approach. I can't speak on what I see, because only God knows the true contents of a man's heart. So we pray and hope that the pastor's, churches etc that we surround ourselves with don't lose sight of God in everything they do.

Not one mention of the Bible or any reference back to a verse for the entire service. During worship a few months ago the presence of God was so evident, but to 2 separate people, one told us what they saw and the told the pastor. They said they saw a cloud, beginning at the stage moving to the back of the room. It was simple but it was encouraging to hear. I didn't have to see it though to know the LORD was pleased with our praises to Him.
What's amazing about God is that He doesn't need a man made atmospheric mist. When His presence fills the place He provides these tangible encounters.

You may not be a pastor or leader of a church, but you are still being a servant in your own way, sharing the word of God, tackling these topics that a lot of us are honestly confused on. Saw a good example of this the other night on TBN where they were showing the hype of the fans before a pastor conference and a woman crying and saying "if I could just meet 'so-so', they're amazing!" And the network deliberately aired that before showing the following messages delivered. Stuff like that makes me cringe. Being in that leader's shoes I personally would be like "no, please don't air these fans gushing over me, the focus should be on Jesus not me" but that's rarely seen. These pastors will mention idolatry in their sermons and refer to things like coffee or something, but never about themselves. Unfortunately I'm hesitant to put on these Christian networks anymore because they're slowly edging out the meat giving pastors and replacing their air time with these water-downed milk pastors. I have nothing against Christians who are still growing and still on the milk of the Word, but we see how dangerous it is when we put shallow rooted Christians in high authority roles. Pray for the body of Christ!

It's really informative and I am starting to better understand the Bible and God.
But I'll be honest I'm still torn about my old church. I don't think that the pastor is a deceiver, I really do believe he is a man of God. But he's just seems more concerned with gaining numbers that imparting the knowledge of the Bible.

There is a difference between bringing people to church and bring people to Jesus/God
One sees statistics while the other sees salvation
    Edit:
To put this into perspective, many people go to church, but few have relationships with Christ.
Whenever you bring someone to church, is it meet a quota (fill the church as much as you can) or is it to help have a personal relationship with Jesus?

Really cool video but I gotta ask, from what you said in the beginning which were like t-shirts that go over the knee, yesses, skinny jeans, are implying that these are not allowed to worn in church? I just want to ask this question just for clarifications and not to attack. I hope you I answer my question. Thank and God bless

These churches are more of a social club, than anything related to the Bible or what the church should be.
They also teach advice similar to pop psychology, business, occultist ideas, mixture of multiple religions, and so on.

This is what I like about my Catholic faith. Our mass is meant for confirmed catechized Catholics… it has always been that way because The early church was outlawed under penalty of death by the Romans. It wasn’t a “come as you are and check if it’s for you” kind of congregation. I know other Christian denominations bring people to the faith that way and there’s nothing wrong with that..UNLESS it’s like this video says and it’s about entertainment

I think it all comes down to preference. There are bad big or “mega” churches and there are bad small churches in the world. I go to a fairly big church that has modern worship music and is casual with clothing and I fully believe God led me there. If people like smaller more traditional churches than great but I don’t think there’s anything wrong if people prefer the more modern style churches. As long as the word of God is getting preached correctly

Agree with this video. It's why Pastor Furtick can feel it's ok to make that "cool" trendy satanic hand sign in public in his church. I think with the illustration you gave with relevant church I don't know if I agree that it's a problem for the church to try to appeal to the youth in a way that will speak to them in a way they'll understand

check it, like many pastors, he fell into a trap. it is a sign of the devil when pastors or worshipers need 2000.- Dollar Suit, big cars, big houses, live like celebretys etc. for their ego. Dont spend for such a church and cancel it. they know as much about god as a bike does from a maserati.

I disagree with the “no real life change”. Because lives are changed, maybe lacking some things like all churches lack… but my life changed tremendously through a church that was trendy, but had discipleship that covered all the other stuff

Okay... but you mentioned this as a "show"? As with these individuals, there is a camera and production with your "show". You are using RUclips which is a platform centered around "influencers" creating content. A synonym for "influencer", especially in our culture, is... "celebrity". As these pastor strategize with their sermon titles, you strategically titled this video in a way that would garner views. Honest question, how exactly are you different?
I am truly trying to ponder on this present reality. In some way, with social media, I feel there is an inescapability to all this. And I am really wondering how to live in this tension and reality of sorts...

Celebrity churches follow business models created by false teachers. (money is important than Jesus. Man Centered Preaching rather than God centered.) Most of them care about entertainment, how to attract followers using worldly methods. You use worldly methods you produce worldly followers. They care to please people rather than to please God. Pray for discernment. ♥️🙏

I think between the group of people wanting entertainment above all and the group of people wanting tradition above all, the eyes can get off of Christ.
I was in a church today where the pastor was giving an overview of Jonah for his sermon. 4 chapters and he really only summarized 2. He didn't read any Scripture, nor did any members have any Bibles out. I'm trying to keep up with where he is and he keeps moving on. Nothing he said was wrong. It was very basic, but not at all wrong. The problem is that no one had their "map" open and he wasn't reading the "directions" out loud, anyhow. Heresy could so easily occur in such a situation, it's scary! But you see things like that a lot around the UK, I find. It seems like the churches in the US are more interested in theology which is really sad. Great for the US, mind.
