I love when Spider-man gets serious like this. It's great when he jokes around and throws out a bunch of quips, but the times he becomes serious and uses his skills and intellect to their full capacity are a true marvel to see.
Best part is, Spidey can do both at the same time. Those quips are part of his arsenal, too; they keep foes just a bit too distracted, make them underestimate him. It gives him that subtle edge that sometimes makes all the difference in the world.

Captain America at the end sounds a lot like Ultron in What If when he senses The Watcher. Almost identical dialogue but it hits completely different coming from a hero instead of a villain.

Avengers, the X-Men, the FF, and the entire Sinister Six. Even without going off into extreme what if future versions like Assassin Spider-Man he's taken on almost every major team and won. I really hope someday they get him back on the timeline that was going to lead to Peter as the world's greatest hero, or at least do a full storyline of it instead of just the hints like the one time he went into the future and briefly saw the giant statue, or the hints from Cable.
I doubt it is going to happen. Spider-Man has been stuck in a cycle now, ever since One more day and any writer who takes it upon themself to write a Spider-Man comic just do the guy bad. I mean look at the Zeb Webbs run dude got cucked by a dude we have never even seen before and the opening page said what did Peter do? just remember, Spiderman holds back. Theres a comic where Doc Oc swaps bodies with him and realises that, if he wanted to, Spiderman could easily of killed Doc Oc or any of his enemies with ease. But plays the fool, making quips and acting like a child. It shatters Doc Oc.

When mind control devices are a common occurrance, and the heroes "always win" in-universe... I mean, kinda makes sense, doesn't it? Given those two factors, it just makes it seem like mind-controlling the most powerful superheroes would be the best route to ruling the world.

I feel like Peter didn't even really KNOW, like for a fact, that he wasn't brainwashed, but he's Spider-Man so of course the worst possible case is probably true, ie Peter vs all of his friends and heroes, because that's just how life is for Spider-Man.
The writers do him dirty.
what people need to realize is that Spider-Man HAS to hold back because of how strong he is and how smart he is. I mean, sure, he's not Tony Stark smart or Hulk strong but he can easily give most super heroes and villains the fight of a lifetime. it's how he stayed ahead of them since he became Spider-Man. he's survived buildings falling around him, being thrown around by Hulk, being hunted by Kraven, and even had to endure losing the people he loves most. at the end of the day, Spider-Man can take all that and keep going because of how determined he is to be a force for good

Most people, especially in comics, is that Spidey isn't just a friendly neighbor, but a MENACE! JJ Jameson has it right- if Peter ever wanted, he could've become a villain on par with Doc Doom, maybe even Thanos. He has an equal intellect to Stark, Richards and others, can lift and hold up 1600 Tons his peak, and even THE HULK said once, that when Spidey hit him, The Hulk FELT it.
And let's not forget the entire rogues' gallery of his, and how he literally keeps them all at bay in New York. Hell, without him there, the city would be in so much trouble. Praise the Lord Stan Lee that Spidey is a paragon of a good guy, but oh Ditko, save the soul of a fool that makes Spidey angry.
Even with all his superpowers, it's really Spiderman's brain that saves the day more often than not.
And then there's Cap who's just so goddamn insightful.

I know writers will do whatever they want on a character. But I call it bullshit when he has to beg Norman Osborn for the new suit because he's gonna die by the hands of Vulture, when you literally have him face off against the Avengers. He may not have defeated them, but I believe that him making some plans that can counter or neutralize each Avenger is already enough feat for him to defeat an old man in a bird costume.
This, Ends of Earth and other comics alike are EXACTLY why I never got the Batman Prep Time argument. Spider-Man found a eay to subdue and evade the AVENGERS...in ONLY 12 HOURS!!!😭
EVERY intelligent character in comics can use prep time. Its not only a Batman thing😂. So ANYONE who goes against him can use it

Spider-Man, like batman, is a top tier intelligence in his own universe. Peter is actually rated officially with a 250 IQ vs Bruce Wayne's listed 186. Spider-man has shown his raw intelligence on more than one occasion. Peter has Degrees in Biochemistry and Bio engineering, he invented all of his gadgets including the web shooters and web fluid, routinely hacks and rewrites Stark Tech, made a time machine ou of a Blender. Made a tracker that ties directly into his spider-sense, joined the Fantastic 4 because he was an intellectual equal to reed Richards (Stated By reed on more than one canon occasion), can disable Stark tech which he has done on more than one occasion. invented gadgets to evade advanced sensors, learned and used advanced alien tech on the fly, etc.
It is literally one of the defining things about Spider-Man... he is smart... like really really smart.

@@talyn3932 The 250 IQ debate doesn't really work for spider-man though. IQ is also a measure of reaction time as well as intelligence. People score higher if they answer faster. So Spider-man doesn't actually need to be that smart to score high.

@@psychosalad6653 the raft is just a prison for high priority criminals. If its in a story then its probably just people escaping and/or going to the prison. No crazy storylines based around it. It shows up in Earths Mightiest Heroes, Ultimate Spiderman, Spiderman PS4...aand thats all I can think of right now.

it is not a 4th wall break. 4th wall break is addressing the audience and/or comic writers. there were beings in that universe controlling things and talking on panel no? being intelligent doesn't have anything to do with instincts.
I love when Spidey has to go up against his friends... With the exception of the times he flat out baselined Tony and Cap, he mostly just lets them beat themselves. Usually in the form of them being overconfident.
Additionally, I would have expected Spider-man to have a sense of the "Beyonder" too & more readily than Captain America!
Yeah but if you were the Beyonder, wouldn't your first move be to block those known to have extra senses from detecting you, either by altering yourself or by altering them? But you might not think to mess with someone who doesn't have such powers, thus leaving yourself open to human levels of intuition and experience.
At that power level I'd cloak my presence from everyone regardless of what powers/abilities they have.

people honestly forget that Spidey is one of the smartest heros in marvel, not like on the level of Reed Richards, but dude can match wits with bruce banner!! (also little fun fact: Spidey is one of the few people hulk genuinally likes)
so him coming up with counter measures of in case of brainwashing is just another day for him, dude has that in common with batman, give him prep time and he can turn the tables on his villains
case and point: every time he's had to modify his suit/web shooters, dude has different suits and web shooters for certain villains!!!
