I thought it was very interesting that you looked at the Sopranos through a feminist lens, I think many people wouldn't have been as quick to see a show about a guy who is a mob boss the same way, and I think even less people would be willing to humor the notion that Sopranos is feminist in nature, but you laid out the themes in the show that work as feminist philosophy. I liked how so much of this analysis touched upon so many themes in the show, which is fitting, because the Sopranos attempts to commentate on so many different facets of life. Sopranos isn't a show about the mafia, but more of a show that uses the mafia as a microcosm for life.
It actually is, in all the ways I’ve described. We’re not talking about what some people have gotten wrong about feminism, we’re talking about actual feminism. I’m not sure which part you think is degrading towards women in the show but I’m pretty sure the people who can’t see what I’m talking about are too invested in their mistakes to be able to see the show from the overhead angle. There isn’t more men than women who have seen the show and the show wasn’t made for men solely. The show was inspired by a woman, and is about nurturing feelings and raising a family. The characters careers, habits, or settings isn’t automatically devoid of feminism just bc some folks can’t see past their masculinity. That’s kind of a theme in the show. Watch more and I’m sure you’ll see, Tony’s in therapy because of that entire attitude. Thanks for thinking it was a good analysis though 👍🏻
I’m pretty sure the theme song grabs its chorus or at least it’s inspired by, Jimi Hendrix - Hey Joe …I could be wrong 😂
i haven’t heard that! they could have definitely been inspired by that as well :)
Nicole, beautiful synopsis and break down. Thank you so much, love.

I don’t think it’s a feminist show. Far from it but good analysis
