I had a summer camper I used home steading on the rail road property each week away from home 25 years back. So I know one has to do what they have to , to survive. The one thing and maybe you had it in some other videos was you both must had to take sponge baths. I used micro wave for hot water, as I had rail road electric and water then. But I tell you 5 days of not having a full shower! ~ was a plus ~ each (Friday) I drove my 250 miles back home for the week end. Never realize how great a shower can be. Really in joy seeing your cool videos. And back 25years ago I had a 5 gallon bucket lined with a storage throw away bag in the bath room. With a toilet seat. I don't miss those winters at all in the pull camper. But as you said the warm weather so much more a plus. -- Thanks
+Vincent Stewart It sounds like you've probably got some pretty interesting stories from that time in your life! I'm sure we could relate to many of them! :) We have a small portable (outdoor) shower that we use when boondocking in the wilderness, but most days, we usually just wash up at the gym. Thanks so much for your comment!
When you get to Nova Scotia, try to do the Cabot Trail, it's a beautiful ride with mountains on one side and the ocean on the other. Have fun on your trip.
Mateusz Pędziwiatr Thanks Mateusz! Thats a very nice thought... we can't wait to share our experiences with some little ones some day (hopefully soon) :) Thanks for watching!
I'm really looking forward to coming along with you on your travels via your videos this summer! You guys do a great job with your filming-very likable. Safe travels!
in the far north woods of Quebec you can hear the classic "indian Love Call" with nelson eddy and jeanette mc donald; sort sets the mood like O Canada! we all love our wonderful neighbor to the north, thank you Canada!
have yourselves a very wonderful trip you both really deserve the very best for eachother and the far north. Sorta the reason it is all there. have fun!
just found your video and is also on my favorite list to watch. your information was clear, and well presented.i have been considering converting a van but have hesitated as it would be just me and my 3 dogs. I have never had to trouble shoot, or empty a black water tank as we, as a family always had a cottage in northern Ontario. I now , at 74 feel that there is so much more of Canada I want to see, and it is now or never. so, keerp your fingers crossed and will keep you posted. my plan is to use the summer for travelling. will be using the kiss principle when I convert it unless I can find a converted van reasonably priced.thanks again for posting, keep it up
Being a Canadian living in America, I would love to travel the country of Canada. I am familiar with Montréal, Quebec City, Nominingue, and Mont Tremblanc. It's such a small area. I have wanted to go to the Gaspé and out west. But to do the whole country would be amazing and a way to get back in touch with my heritage. You are quite fortunate to start of your married lives traveling so much. I am very happy for you! 😊
+Monique Liddle Thanks Monique! We agree that we've been very lucky over the past year. Most Canadians never get to see as much of the country as we have. It's been a goal for a long time, so it's all been very exciting :) What part of the US are you living in now? How long have you been there?
+A Guy. A Girl. And a Campervan I currently live in northwestern Pennsylvania, where the part of PA touches Lake Erie. I have lived in the U.S. since 10 yrs of age, but my parents drove us up to Canada every year until I left for college - and we lived many places up & down the East Coast, including the south. Some years it was a long drive! I really want to travel across Canada, but it will be difficult to do alone as I have multiple sclerosis. But I am not giving up yet!
I have been in the U.S. for approx 35 yrs. My Mother's side of the family are all French-Canadian...live somewhere in the province of Quebec. My Dad's family are all British!
I'm probably a little late in finding your videos, and by now you may already know that WD-40 displaces water in a damp or wet distributor cap, coil wire ends and other ignition parts. But, if you didn't know that, try it instead of the hair dryer next time, or if for some reason you can't use the hair dryer. I had a much older Dodge pickup and had to keep a can of WD-40 with me for the same reason. I learned later that my distributor cap was cracked, which was allowing moisture to get in. Your videos are appreciated!
First of all I really enjoyed this video. Keep up the good work. Secondly, you could attach an additional basket to the hatch at the back of your van to use as an extra cargo space. Good luck
Looking forward to your trip! The quality of your video camera and audio is great wich is a important "sellingpoint" for watching your videos. Combined with a happy couple makes it unique!
My advice? Take a little detour to the northwest when you get to Nova Scotia and take in Cape Breton and the Cabot Trail. It's breathtaking. I appreciate that time is limited and there are a million beautiful places in our awesome country but missing Cape Breton is a mistake you'll regret.
looking forward to the trip! you should definitely get shots of the scenery in each place. I'd like to see what you guys do day to day while travelling, even what you cook. I'm from a town in Ontario and have yet to travel and stay in any of the other provinces, but I've been to the US before.
Its good idea to keep a 4way and double check your lug nuts. My son had a flat so we got new tire before we went to cedar point the next day.Well to our surprise 8 miles on freeway we lost our tire fender studs. I found the tire opposite side of freeway. The company paid for towing fender rim another tire lugs to. On the companys web site someone complained later of over tightening and stripped lug nuts. We never complained accidents happen. Good luck like your videos. Stay safe.
Daniel Tranchida My goodness, I hope everyone was ok! You're absolutely right about the wheel wrench, and we should have checked our lug nuts as soon as they were done. The may be experts, but it's still our safety on the line. We'll know for next time! Thanks for your comment, and for sharing your story!
Roger Olivier Thanks Roger, we'll do our best to post videos as often as possible! It's a little difficult on the road, due to lack of time/wifi, but whatever we'll try to keep up with it! Thanks for watching, and thanks for your comment!
Hey I made an account to write here, you guys are awesome! :-D, I have a van myself kickstarting a dream and what not, its a bit older, but full of love and has lit the candle! Thanks for sharing, lots of lots of lots of insight you guys give. Thats what lots of us need. Just a little more inspiration, so hats off to you. I bet the east was magnificent to you guys. Those folks know how to have fun don't they??! Cheers, Shawn
+Shawn Bibby Thank you Shawn. We very much appreciate your kind words! We'd love to hear more about your van - please let us know how your journey progresses! Thanks again for your comment, and thanks so much for watching! Oh, and you're right - the East Coast was amazing! The land, the ocean, and most importantly, the people. Truly a magnificent experience!
In August, we're heading for gaspé, N.B ,N.S. and P.E.I. from North of Montreal with our Fifth Wheel 29 footer. Our first trip in too many years. Looking forward to your trip videos, it'll give me more ideas to plan our trip Have a safe and pleasant trip and watch for kangaroo crossings LOL
S10gary lol, thanks for your comment s10gary! You're trip sounds awesome as well! Please keep us posted on how it goes! We hope to have another video posted within the next day or so.
Thanks for sharing your trip with us on youtube . Hope to travel the same route you did someday . We own a 2003 Roadtrek . 19 ft . The paint is flaking away just like yours . Mileage is just 107,000 km ( we put 20,000 km in 4 years since we bought it ) We bought it Ottawa , This year we are driving across Canada from NB and next summer maybe a trip to NFLD .
richard gallant You trip sounds awesome Richard! We traveled from Ontario to BC and then up into the Arctic, last summer. It was an incredibly life-changing adventure. Good luck, I'm sure you'll have a blast! Strange about the paint eh? We've seen a few older Dodges with similar problems. Luckily the primer underneath seems solid. Ours had about 200k kms when we got it. We've put on about 55k in the past year lol. Thanks for watching, and for the comment!
Have a lovely trip! You guys just came onto my recommended video list and Im super stoked to find you guys =) I live in Melbourne, Australia and my partner and I are considering Tiny House living or van living at the moment. Looking forward to following your journey!
rebekahsjs Thanks for your comment rebekahsjs! Glad you found us too! :) Living in a tiny space may not be fore everyone, but if you're even partially considering it, then you'd likely love it! :) Good luck to you both!
that is the number one song you never wanna hear while you are on the road; its called "you picked a fine time to leave me loose wheel" to the rythem of "lucille", have a safe journey! eh! really missed your videos!
When you crossed the ferry to Newfoundland, You were literally about 100km from my house :P Had I known about you folks then, I'd have given you a tour of the Great Northern Peninsula! Maybe next time. :) Blessings from Paradise!
I used to live in Nunavut!! you can't go there by van though. :) I lived in the Arctic Circle for 2 yrs in a hamlet called Gjoa Haven. Just thought I'd say not that it maters, lol. Sorry you are having van troubles.
R unners LOL. We crossed the Arctic Cirlce last year on our way to Inuvik in the Northwest Territories. It was by far one of our favourite parts of Canada! As for Nunavut, we'll be travelling the last 30km by boat. Most of the islands in James bay are part of Nunavut, and that's the only way we could figure out how to do it while still including it in our coast to coast to coast road trip. Thanks for your comment!
Another great video guys, simple things like shopping and filling the van with it makes good viewing, its just my opinion...Oh and because I'm from the UK can you tell me what PEI stands for...Thanks
Looking forward to following you on your video trip. My wife and I start our 2 week trip across the US next week. If I were you I would definitely make a point of letting the shop know about your lug nuts that is extremely dangerous. I understand those guys are overworked but there's still no excuse for that someone could have gotten hurt. Have you guys come across just incredible in Canada? He puts out some pretty good videos also.
Wil Reyes Thanks Wil! Perhaps we'll start exploring the US next! :) Good point about the shop... I think we'll speak to them about it. We have stumbled upon Justin Credible, in fact. We've enjoyed a few of his videos as well. Thanks for the tip, and good luck on your adventure! :)
Happy 1st wedding anniversary!!! That first year can be quite a big adjustment- even if you were already living together-now you are MARRIED!!! I thought it was a huge year, full of so many changes-and you guys are living full time in a van!! How much longer do you plan on doing those?? If it was me, I would want to save enough to pay cash for a house. None of this slave to a mortgage nonsense-in my opinion. Good luck to you both!!!
Geny R. Thanks for your comment Geny! We've had quite the first year, indeed! :) It may not be for everyone, but if nothing else, the adventure has brought us closer together! We'll be sticking it out in the van for as long as we can... I'm with you on avoiding the slave nonsense!
+79tazman We actually went to Lunenburg and Peggy's Cove last summer. Loved both of them! We will hopefully be creating a video about that in the future. Thanks for the comment!
You guys are amazing!! If you can last 12 months in a campervan shoulder to shoulder without killing each other, then i'd say it's safe to bet that this marriage will last forever. Keep up the videos and please don't move, a guy a girl and an apartment just doesn't have the same ring to it.... However... A Guy, A Girl, A Baby and a campervan.... well that seems a little more interesting. Stay safe on the road guys.
Aprille Shepherd Mobile internet is a little difficult in Canada. We haven't been able to find a single plan that is affordable with enough data to be useful. We've mostly just relied on the kind business who offer free wifi, and do our best to patron them as often as we can.
Get yourselves a new distributor cap. I'd lay odds that it's cracked, and it was only a coincidence that the coil situation came up. I've had my "fun" with that whole dodge situation and dampness. OR, keep a spare coil and distributor cap on hand. Just a suggestion.
spacesaverbob You're right about the crack, but it turns out it's actually in the coil itself. We've had a tough time finding a new replacement for it though. Thanks for the comment! Suggestions are ALWAYS welcome!
Do you guys have an itinerary for this trip? I literally am looking for EXACTLY this trip for July 2017 but can't quite figure out where you made your stops.... so excited to visit Canada for Canada Day and hit all of the free parks!
Hey Guys! Great videos! I stumbled across your channel yesterday and love the idea of what you are doing. I'm also really impressed that Paula was able to get all of that stuff in the van :) Regarding the coil getting wet...was it really high humidity that caused that or something else? I've had coils "fail" when going through really high water or even in seriously hard rain (toad chokers if you will ;) but not just sitting. I'm just curious. Thanks for the video and we look forward to more in the near future!
Greg E Paula has become quite the little storage expert over the past year. She can find places to put things in the van that we never could have even fit in our old apartment! lol It was raining quite hard all night and the humidity was really high. That seems to cause us problems periodically. turns out we have a small crack in the plastic casing of the coil. We've had a hard time finding a replacement though unfortunately. Thanks for your comment!
We are getting ready to make this trip! And we also have similar lifestyles. Homesteading on our little farm in CA. and traveling in our van the rest of the time. We should hook up!
Just curious, do u not recycle cans and bottles in Canada? Noticed when u sent hubby out w/ the trash. No getting away from chores even in the van, lol
You should down to Maine and visit, Portland, maine has the best lobster! If you guys come, I'll take you to the best place in town, its called Dimillo's floating restaurant.
ben shafer Thanks Ben! CAA is probably the most popular in Canada, but we're with a company called "Good Sam's Club". Their prices are incredibly reasonable, and they cover any road in all of North America. So, if we would have needed them when we were up in the Arctic last summer, they would have been there for us (assuming we could find a phone to call them that is...). We've luckily never had to use their services, but for their prices and offerings alone, I would highly recommend them.
Like your videos I too am looking for a class b considered a tear drp but way to small for the amount of traveling I want to do , still looking this isn't the time of yr to buy, safe travels
One more thing about Cell phone coverage, I hope you are with Bell or a company that partners on Bell towers and not with Rogers. I forgot to mention that Rogers has VERY limited coverage on the island of Newfoundland (greater St John's area in the east and the city of Corner Brook in the west. When we travelled the province with friends 5 years ago they were unable to use their cell phones for most of the trip.
L. J. Desjardins Luckily, Paula is with Bell, and I'm with Fido (Rogers). That seems to keep at least one of us within coverage most of the time. Thanks again for the comments!
+SKPjoe Coursegold Thanks for the sub SKPjoe! We really hope you enjoy our other videos as well! That's awesome that you're planning a similar trip! It's a fantastic part of the world. You're going to love it! :)
Nice video. But make sure you lock your wife in at night when you take out the garbage. I seen the door still open when you walked away. But you do make a awesome video
Very ambitious. I hope you realize you will not be able to do top speeds on many of these northern roads. The road from the James Bay Highway to Waskaganish is an unpaved road that opened in august 2001. The Trans-Labrador highway is mostly paved, but there still may be unpaved sections. Cell coverage is non existent in remote areas. Gas stations are few and far between. RCMP were lending locked Satellite phones to people travelling between Labrador City and Goose Bay for emergency use. Don't know if they still do that. Make sure your jack and spare is in top shape - CAA will not be there to help you. Far North is mosquito/black fly country. A few links that might be of interest: jamesbayroad.com www.tlhwy.com www.roads.gov.nl.ca/cameras/trans_labrador.stm When you hit Newfoundland, we live near St John's on the Avalon Peninsula. If you would like some local guides you can contact us. We can also help if you just need more information about Newfoundland in general. You are going to miss so much with your limited timeline - we took friends on a coast to coast tour of Newfoundland and it took 3 weeks to include side trips off the main highway.
L. J. Desjardins Thanks for the comment L. J! We've done a fair amount of research prior to the trip, but local knowledge is always MUCH appreciated! You're very kind to take the time to provide all of this information, and to offer up your services. Thanks again!
+mackuss The ignition coil that connects to the distributor / spark plugs. It has a small crack that allowed moisture to seep in, causing it to malfunction so that the spark plugs couldn't fire.
+TheW1zard12 We have a number of places that we stay. There are a couple Walmarts which are very welcoming to RVers, a few public green spaces that allow overnight parking, a campground just outside the city for when we want a few extra amenities, etc. We've even found some crown land in the area where we can camp for free. Then, because our van fits in a regular parking spot, we can even do some urban camping on the street, if that happens to be more convenient for a particular evening. Thanks for your question W1zard!
+Ridzuan Rahim Last summer, we spent 2 months exploring western Canada and the arctic. This summer, we spent 3 weeks traveling the east. We could have easily spent a couple years for these trips though, so we'll likely head back to many of the places we've visited, to explore them further.
With things the way they are in the USA currently I was thinking to move to Canada. My wife and I live simply. Does anyone have a suggestion for a target city or area in Canada to move to?
Billy T We actually both have full time jobs. We traveled for a couple months as our honeymoon last summer and then returned to work while still living in the van. We've just been fortunate enough to save up a lot of over time in order to take the time off for our travels.

Fantastic job you guys...I've always been fascinated with the Canadian North...Best to you both! Brian Morrison, Vermont, USA
When you get to Nova Scotia, try to do the Cabot Trail, it's a beautiful ride with mountains on one side and the ocean on the other. Have fun on your trip.

You might want to get a 3 tier wire basket for fruit and veggies. It holds a lot and makes snacking visually easier and great storage solution.
Cheryl Patterson That's a great tip! Thanks!
You guys are two beautiful, down to earth people, great video, but I did miss seeing the bloopers at the end.
mrbr549 Thanks so much mrbr549! You're far too kind! We'll do our best to include some bloopers in the future :)
Awesome. I cant wait to see more videos!
Bill and Karen Thanks Bill and Karen! We'll do our best to post as often as we can!

Keep the videos coming :)
Oh yeah, and have a safe trip!
Cliff Tavares Thanks for the subscription Cliff! We hope to have another video up in the next day or two.
Have a great trip! 👍❤️👍
Alex Lester Thanks Alex! :)
I love your video, I was always curious on what people buy for food when it comes to camper vans due to the limited space.
520wsd Thanks for the comment 520wsd. Glad you enjoyed it. We'll do our best to show more of these types of things!
Great vedio , hope you both have a wonderful trip.......

Be safe out there... can't wait for the next video ... best wihes :)
WebWorkerin Thanks WebWorkerin! We hope to have another video posted in the next day or so! Thanks for watching!
love following your adventures. find it very fasintating. I'm. an empty nester and would love to do something like this
that is the number one song you never wanna hear while you are on the road; its called "you picked a fine time to leave me loose wheel" to the rythem of "lucille", have a safe journey! eh! really missed your videos!
bill bye lol Bill! You're right, we certainly don't want to hear that song on the road! We hope to post another video posted in the next day or so!
just stay safe ok!
Have a great time and keep smiling!
Gwyn Dekker Thanks Gwyn! :)
Have a safe and awesome trip.
Hollenthon2468 Thanks Hollenthon22468!
When you crossed the ferry to Newfoundland, You were literally about 100km from my house :P Had I known about you folks then, I'd have given you a tour of the Great Northern Peninsula! Maybe next time. :) Blessings from Paradise!
Fantastic video
Nice itinerary. Can't wait to see it carried out :)
jbentio Thanks jbentio! We hope to post another video in the next day or so.
Thanks for your comment!
that's awesome!! I really look forward to seeing that part of your trip. Have a great holiday!! Thanks for all the great videos.
Great video's. I am not into "off Gridiron" i am too old, but I appreciate your views.
Another great video guys, simple things like shopping and filling the van with it makes good viewing, its just my opinion...Oh and because I'm from the UK can you tell me what PEI stands for...Thanks
Mark Wright Prince Edward Island
Mark Wright Thanks Mark, we'll do our best to show some of the little things along the way. We appreciate your comment!
Sarah Lavoie Thanks Sarah, you beat me to it! :)
Good point about the shop... I think we'll speak to them about it. We have stumbled upon Justin Credible, in fact. We've enjoyed a few of his videos as well. Thanks for the tip, and good luck on your adventure! :)
Great video !!! Happy travels : )
Marty L. Thanks Marty! And thanks for watching!
Both of you are ammazing ..... It's my dream to do this trip .... Respect
Looks like a fantastic trip!
Debbie Schneider Thanks Debbie!
New to your channel... from SoCal (LA)... you're a cute couple...keep the nice videos coming...thanks
Pluto Believer Thanks Pluto, you're very kind :)
Hi there. I know you guys are in a house now, but I am binge-watching all your old videos lol :)
Very intresting video U made ;) Wish U all the best
Jakub Gajos Thanks Jakub! We appreciate the comment!
Great video!
Fabian Franco Thanks Fabian!
You should of stopped in Peggys Cove and in Lunenburg in Nova Scotia those are two awesome places to see
+79tazman We actually went to Lunenburg and Peggy's Cove last summer.
Jeff Dale You're far to kind Jeff. Thanks so much for your comment! ;)
Excellent video
justina johnson Thanks Justina!
I would love to hear how you manage your (mobile) Internet in Canada and also when you are on the move.
Aprille Shepherd Mobile internet is a little difficult in Canada. We haven't been able to find a single plan that is affordable with enough data to be useful. We've mostly just relied on the kind business who offer free wifi, and do our best to patron them as often as we can.
cool thanks... Wind has some good plans.
Once the plague is controlled , I'll be heading north for summers up there as part of my bucket list 😁
AWESOME!! Good luck! :)
Luke Borchardt Thanks Luke!
I love your channel. Super excited to see the candid stuff. Don't spend too much time editing...just get the content out :)
Ryan McLean Good advice Ryan. We'll do our best to get it out as often as we can. Thanks for watching!
I'm also really impressed that Paula was able to get all of that stuff in the van :)
Regarding the coil getting wet...was it really high humidity that caused that or something else?
A Guy. A Girl. And a Campervan when you can't replace it...superglue it :) Good luck!
That wheel balance caused the brake issues in Labrador perhaps.
great videos---keep it up
Jeff Thompson Thanks Jeff! We'll do our best :)
xD this is the first vid i seen by u both! and i LOVE U GUYS!
And I LOVE CANADA
i wanna move there some day!! ^-^
We are getting ready to make this trip! And we also have similar lifestyles. Homesteading on our little farm in CA. and traveling in our van the rest of the time. We should hook up!
2015,Wow, great trips!it is my travelling plan too
Just curious, do u not recycle cans and bottles in Canada? Noticed when u sent hubby out w/ the trash. No getting away from chores even in the van, lol
Lauralie Karels I'm in Ontario too. We recycle at home but most businesses don't have recycle bins🙄
Thanks... A dream of mine... From Australia :-)
Doug Fairweather Thanks Doug! It's been a dream of ours for so long as well. Finally living it is an incredible feeling! :)
i like them safe trips
Michel Brouwer Lol, we'll make it as safe as we can.
You should down to Maine and visit, Portland, maine has the best lobster! If you guys come, I'll take you to the best place in town, its called Dimillo's floating restaurant.
David DeRoche Thanks David! Perhaps that will be our next adventure! If so, we'll let you know! :)
that would be great.
cool video.
michael adams Thanks Michael!
wtf, 10 minutes of you organizing your food. Real exciting stuff.
How long will this trip take? Looking forward to your videos! :)
Can you make a video on buying a camper? Need some tips just about to sell my car and buy a van a tip video would be great!
I'm jealous of your freedom.
Have safe trip, what kinds of road assistance do they have in Canada ?
ben shafer Thanks Ben!
Like your videos I too am looking for a class b considered a tear drp but way to small for the
amount of traveling I want to do , still looking this isn't the time of yr to buy, safe travels
good video..
Thanks again for the comments!
what do you guys do for work ?
hi, just subed, now i have 11 videos to catch up on.
i'll be doing this same trip in july 2017.
Does carrying a lot of food spend more in Gas ?
A few links that might be of interest:

When you hit Newfoundland, we live near St John's on the Avalon Peninsula. If you would like some local guides you can contact us. We can also help if you just need more information about Newfoundland in general. You are going to miss so much with your limited timeline - we took friends on a coast to coast tour of Newfoundland and it took 3 weeks to include side trips off the main highway.
L. J. Desjardins I'm sure they'll be fine Dad
L. J. Desjardins Thanks for the comment L. J! We've done a fair amount of research prior to the trip, but local knowledge is always MUCH appreciated! You're very kind to take the time to provide all of this information, and to offer up your services. Thanks again!
S10gary lol
i'll be traveling to NFL this summer, your post helped me. thanks
What coil were you talking about that got wet?
+mackuss
The ignition coil that connects to the distributor / spark plugs. It has a small crack that allowed moisture to seep in, causing it to malfunction so that the spark plugs couldn't fire.
Where do you usually stay in your hometown?
+TheW1zard12
We have a number of places that we stay.
How long do you take for all journey in Canada?
+Ridzuan Rahim
Last summer, we spent 2 months exploring western Canada and the arctic. This summer, we spent 3 weeks traveling the east. We could have easily spent a couple years for these trips though, so we'll likely head back to many of the places we've visited, to explore them further.
With things the way they are in the USA currently I was thinking to move to Canada. My wife and I live simply. Does anyone have a suggestion for a target city or area in Canada to move to?
what did u do for income during your year on the road?
Billy T We actually both have full time jobs. We traveled for a couple months as our honeymoon last summer and then returned to work while still living in the van. We've just been fortunate enough to save up a lot of over time in order to take the time off for our travels.
