  • Monument Ridge was add to the Badge of Honor trail system in June 2020. This video is from check in #14 when we were passing through the week after it was added.
This is a 2-8 rated trail. We can understand why. The 2 rating is for the dry conditions like we encountered. although, we dipped in a few muddy spots and learned it could get ugly in the rain where when wet it can become an 8 real fast. The mud is sticky, slick and did I mention sticky. Sticky enough that it threw off our balance of our wheel once we got back on pavement.
The trail offers up beautiful wild flowers and majestic 360 views of the Teton mountain range once you reach the cabin at the top of Monument Ridge. Truly a scenic drive. It took us about 3 hours total with pictures and tire air down and back up.
Is it worth the very remote drive to acquire the badge, I found it to be quite the relaxing drive to get there and the views kept us entertained the whole drive.
I would go back if in the area but if it is raining, forget about it. Even with a winch, often there is nothing to winch to so with out other rigs to winch off of, keep your solo runs to dry days when the trail is not a slick mess.

Thanks - Looking to take my daughter out to area next spring for a graduation trip. I have a stock JLU that will probably have 265/70 R17 All terrain tires on it when we go. Looks like it is a very doable trip if it is dry. Your jeep looks a little more modified than mine. Is there anything I missed that you would advise against under dry conditions?

Well it has been a few years but if it is dry a stock rig can make it no problems. There were muddy spots but nothing bad. Enjoy and be aware that is bear terrain if ya stop to have lunch. It is a nice easy trip with outstanding views and wild flowers.

Great video, thanks. I will be coming down from Grand Teton with my MH towing Jeep. Any idea if there's a place I can unhook to run the trail?

The North end of this trail had a lot of camping by the creek.I'd say there were dozens of spots off the gravel road. On the South end there is a parking area but not much camping spots for rv life.

It was obvious it was going to get destroyed over time. Badges are cool but there is a limit lol. One wet day and it get rutted up pretty bad the dries hard with nasty ruts.

thanks for the video! some of us in Idaho are headed there next month for a group trail ride and this video provide a great preview for what we have to look forward to especially if the weather hasn't been dry.
