But, that's the only good reason I can think of why it's in baby formula. The bad reason would be the negative effects it would have on such a tiny baby. I have an underactive thyroid. Fluoride is known to slow thyroid function, so I wish they didn't put it into my city's water. No. The fluoride added to tap water is hydrofluorosilicic acid. It’s not the same at all. There’s not a single enzyme or use for fluoride in the body.
