Congrats, man! I still remember tuning in to some of your old streams and you mentioning how some of Spef’s timesaves were out of reach for you, and now you’ve completely blown those old records out of the water.
Thanks Nate! It's pretty crazy how far this has come. I came back because the Kukie Skip saves 1 full second, but I've actually saved 1.95 seconds. Frame rules dropping like flies!
I remember renting this game back in 1993 and bringing it back to the store because it was too hard.. FML I can't believe you did this in that time... My mind is blown...
Thanks Jamie, and thanks for watching! I’ve got still got some marbling left in me! High score attempts, blindfolded attempts, and 150% emulation speed attempts are all on the menu. :-)
Grats on this. Way back in Nintendo Power era, they had a trading card with a pro challenge of finishing the Silly race with at least 50 seconds on the clock. I'd say this is uber-Pro level, lol
@@yelsraek You can still get them here and there on eBay. I have the full 170 card set. Side note, I managed to knock out the Marble Madness challenge thanks to your videos. I'll give you a shout out when I post the MM video, probably next week.
after all these years of never knowing how many levels there were, i found out i was 1 level away from beating it all along. i would always get to level 4 or 5, then run out of time.
I’ve been trying to channel my inner Yeslraek lately with this game..I’ll be at 83 seconds in level 4 and those fucking Hammers slow me down every time leaving me with bullshit for level 5 by the time I get to 6 I shit the bed each time
Thanks so much! The Twitch VOD will be out there for a bit, if that helps. Here's a link with a timestamp that picks up right where this video leaves off: www.twitch.tv/videos/1163143399?t=01h09m34s
Awesome. You could've shaved another 10s off the Ultimate Race time, though. At about 89s after dodging the black ball, it is possible to crash into the Goal. Still, amazing gameplay!
I have not seen such a technique on the NES version. I know it's possible on the Genesis version. Would love to know the setup if you have a video you can link to!
Great question! A few months after this run, we discovered a manipulation that can save a little more time in the Aerial race. Some day I'll go back and get it! 🙂
I use 90 because that's what I grew up using. There are definitely more 90 speedrunners than 45 speedrunners, but both control settings are represented. Technically there is no advantage using one over the other.
The camera doesn't scroll as fast as the marble can move, but it is possible to control the marble when you can't see it, so I'm navigating the end of the level blindly. 🙂
In the NES version, that shortcut is "pixel perfect", meaning there is only one pixel along that wall where the marble goes through. It's not necessarily hard to do, but it IS hard to do FAST. 🙂
There isn't a clear definition for "100%" of this game. I suppose the closest you could get is a category called "Long Way", where you have to take the longer path every chance you get. 🙂
I always found red marble, player two, to be harder for the courses. So I am sure doing this with player two is more challenging. You are about 50% better than I ever was at the game, back when I played it in 1991 - 1993. Yes it was that many years ago and yeah I was really good, but.. your skills are definitely better than mine on three of the courses. :)
The music immediately made me want to find a NES controller and throw it on the floor
“Walker” will now be immortalized for marble speedrunning historians to watch 50 years from now
there is only 6 levels? I played this so much as a kid and never knew that
You know you're good at the game when you beat the level before the camera does 💀
The anger I have watching you destroy this game like it was nothing when I couldn’t even get passed the 4th level taking my time 😂
That nes music knows how to stress you out, this man has nerves of steel
The heartrate is one of my favorite parts of this, love it and congratulations Kearsley.
Yeah, same. His goes from 80 to 150 in like 30 seconds 🤣
good eye, I woulda missed that!
This man just looks like he beasts speed runs. Gg!

Congrats, Yels! It's been fun watching the grind over the past few months, and the payoff was well worth it.
Thanks so much, Mog! :-)
To think how much this game owned me in the arcade and the NES.... videos like this kill me

I need a 45 min summoning salt video on this
That would be a dream come true! :-)
Your hair grew with your ability
I found out that David Wise composed the music for this port
Awesome job yels!
Thanks Twinstar!
Great work Yels!

When that marble falls and makes that noise I always felt bad.
Congratulations!!!

Yeah, buddy!Congrats!
Thank you, sir!
Big fan of the mad scientist approach
That beard is amazing.🧔♀️

Whoa when he got to the last level his heart rate went from 80 to 130 and when he won it went to beating 150 times a minute
The nerves were very real! I always get nervous on a good pace! 🙂
Amazing run.
Thanks very much!
Today I learned the timer carries over :/

Do you use the 45° or 90° control setting? Always a 45° myself.

@@yelsraek That's allowed? Wow all these years
@@juggawest Certainly! If the game didn't want me to do it, it would stop me somehow! 🙂

The Journey is complete. We have arrived at 2:38. :-)

The hardest game ever
as a kid, i don't think i passed stage 3...
Me too, if I'm honest! I did not have the capacity or the patience for this game as a kid, either. 🙂
Listen I'm really into taking a #2 on people while I have the opportunity. I think you know where I'm going with this. Haha
Couldn't see the ball cross the finish line on the first race, looks like cheating.
