Ben I have to say another amazing video of the history and heritage of an age old distillery! The musseumand lineage is absolutely mindblowing and looks like they saved virtually every document and possibly sales receipts! Thank you so much for producing and teaching us about the technology and history of distilling whiskey!......Happy Holidays to you and the family!............Slainte!

Remember the red label that Churchill for example used to drink, is not even close to what it is today. The only one worth it today (IMHO) is green label, but I personally grab a bottle of Highland Park, Laphroaig, or even Aberfeldy before going for a JW blend.

I can believe that. If you think about it, every shop around you has Johnnie Walker whisky on the shelves. The same goes for where I stay. The amount of whisky they need to produce and export is insane! Black label is 12 years and they export millions of that bottle so just imagine how many are still maturing for next years bottling. Same for green etc.

Black Label is what I drink most often. It's really my go to. But once in a while I'll pick up a bottle of what is in my opinion the best value blended whiskey, and that is Johnnie Walker Green Label (what I'm drinking while watching this). For 80 Canadian dollars, nothing beats it. It's almost as good as the Platinum Label which cost almost twice as much.

If Johnnie Walker put half the effort into making good scotch that they do in marketing, they might even be worth buying. Then again with millions of cocktail making grass hoppers already buying their swill, I don't see them changing any time soon. Actually it is a good thing so many people don't have a clue or else good scotch would be unaffordable.

It has its time and place... On the rocks, just as a quick aperitif it's equally good as a Ballantine's Finest, Famous Grouse, Dewar's white label, Grant's and other NAS blended scotch from bottom shelf. And with a good ginger ale it's actually really nice.

The Blue Label you buy today is an absolute disgrace when compared to Johnnie Walker Blue Label from the previous bottlings. I own a few cases of the old style bottle and this Christmas compared the two back to back. I was shocked at the flavour differences. I would never be able to recommend the new Blue Label. But if you can source the old bottles. Another planet and highly recommended.
