I see just a brunch of "un-backended" sites with cool graphics, but everythings is mocked up with in-code datas. This is more a Designer job to me
For the amount of hardwork and effort, 2nd and 3rd websites were amazing. But the 1st website is way more functional and visually calming and minimalistic which works well in modern world.

personally i love the idea of your portfolio being a video, i have no clue why i didn't come up with it even though i am doing game dev, i think for a freelancer it's quite a good idea to make the website cool and impresive, so clients remember them unlike every other generic modern minimalistic design 2 electric boongaloo, and you can always just have a 2 button choice between fun and boring versions of the site, if you think it's a waste of time for the client

Bruno is probably specialised in computer graphics because that webgl renderer is beyond most web developers pay grade. It's more complicated geometric projections and concepts than web design

Filip this is huge, Bruno Simon was my Dev Teacher during my Degree at HETIC, Paris. BRUNO is literaly the smartest and yet simpler tech guy I've ever ran into. All my fellow comrades where so admirative of him and his skills. So this is so amazing to randomly see a random video on RUclips and stumble on his website portfolio ! Life is funny sometimes. Cool vid!
The car website was really nice! But imo it was a bit 'too' interactive... cuz users are mostly engrossed in exploring the game world, playing the minigames and stuff, and the actual essence of the website, which is the designer's portfolio and resume, gets overshadowed in all that fun and games
Does it really matter though? You could see how Filip forgot what he was doing for a moment and was just enjoying the website. If that would happen with a recruiter then the guy that created the website would definitely be called in to talk. I mean the website is kinda proof that he can develop stuff and that is the most important part.

yes, agreeable but the second website lacks a lot of UX principles. For example, if someone needed your social media links, then they would probably have a hard time finding it, even tho it was the coolest website I have ever seen, it still didn't deserve a 10/10 for a web developer's portfolio
I understand why the 3d car website was more fun and why you personally rated it a 10/10. But clearly the last one is better for ease of use and display info in a productive manner. The point of websites are for them to be straight forward and easy to use. If someone is looking at a portfolio, they will want the info to be right there to view with minimal hassle. So it seems pretty obvious why the last portfolio mixed fun and simplicity together to get the best of both worlds. So for fun purposes, I would rate the same as you. But for real life and productive purposes, I would rate the 3d car one less than the last one.

The second website's amazing and a wonderful idea, but in terms of implementation, it's not at all difficult. It's certainly got nothing to do with front-end web development: I'm a game developer, and I could create something like that easily, but ask me to write a good-looking, responsive web app and I'd probably shit myself.
I came from a different major in college, but now learning about web development from the bottom to support my major. This video literally makes me both excited and afraid about the future of my life

For everyone getting discouraged: Don't. Yes, these are amazing projects but you have to realize that these guys took just as much time and effort to make it. Considering how these portfolios are literally showing their skill-set, it wouldn't be any surprise if they put their all into it. I'm sure all of you can do the same with some research and effort. Artistically, these sites are absolutely amazing and stunning. But as a portfolio, they’re very unreliable. Takes too long to access information, or the information is displayed in a complex way that is either hard to read effectively or is very distracting. Honestly if you want an effective portfolio site, you may be better off with a barebones html page lol
I think robbi leonardi needed an 11/10. His ideas and presentation (and obviously skill) are next level. THe whole idea behind the side scrolling video game resume was that the info he wanted to present, by convention, is best presented in linear fashion. He connected that thought with the creative idea of a side scroller and executed a masterful presentation. If I could I'd take a notebook and pencil and learn everything there was from the man.
My only issue with these website is the assessbility issues. The neon colors and the moving words, the bright driving game, etc is terrible for people with disabilities. Tech companies are getting serious about accessibility due to lawsuits. They should hope they dont get interviewed by someone who is serious about that.

Hey, I found one easter egg in the Bruno Simon website, if you look at the top where the header of the site is shown, it's all underscores and a jeep emoji, well, when you're moving, it changes, it looks like the jeep is also moving.
