    Professor Phillips received her law degree from Washington University in St. Louis. She also has a Finance degree and a Master of Business Administration degree from Missouri State University. She is a Certified Financial Planner. Upon graduating from law school, Professor Phillips became an associate at Brown, Todd & Heyburn (now Frost Brown Todd) in Louisville, Kentucky. At Brown Todd she assisted clients with commercial real estate development, business and estate planning, and estate administration. She also developed a real estate and estate planning practice as part of Brown Todd’s New Albany, Indiana office.
    Professor Phillips and her family returned to Missouri where she continued her real estate and estate planning practice at Lowther Johnson in Springfield. She then spent four years as in-house real estate counsel for O’Reilly Automotive, Inc., overseeing the legal aspects of acquiring and constructing the company’s retail properties throughout the United States. She began teaching per course at Missouri State in 2008, became a full-time instructor in 2016, and a clinical assistant professor of financial planning and law in 2022.
    Growing up on the trout fishing resort her grandparents established in 1954 at Rockbridge, Missouri, Professor Phillips enjoys the outdoors, including fishing and trail running. She has completed numerous races ranging from 10 miles to 50 miles, in states from Louisiana to Idaho.
