The point of Ben 10 is “walking a mile in someone else’s shoes” I can’t think of a more pro trans thing, imagine having the time and energy to attack people because of how they identify themselves
Ah yes. Transphobia from fans of the show where the main character solves problems by becoming different aliens with different personalities and even says "I'm one of everybody" And sorry you've been having to deal with that bs
As someone who isn't trans, unnecessary hatred to someone's way of life is pretty petty and makes no sense. It's also nice to know when you've made a mistake and it was resolved peacefully and you have said your apologies.
Fr, I can never understand transphobes. Also, yep! Learnt my mistake, made my apology, now just time to prove that I learnt my lesson and keep doing what I do best!
I also would like to point out that in Alien Force within the Big Chill Episode, Ben did exude traits of being pregnant eventhough he was in human form.
Outside of weird pregnancy cravings, yeah. Although the smoothie flavors he drinks are weird to begin with, and yet he knocks Max's cuisine for some reason.
Your response to the Ink Tank was genuine. We are humans and we can jump the gun on our responses sometimes when it’s something we care about. And sometimes we trip when we do it but what matters is fixing what you can and growing to learn from it. It’s times like these that humility is needed by all
The idea of segmentsapiens building a child is hilarious to me because it’s just a Lego build. Reminds me of the robots movie lol Maybe they reproduce like salmon where the female lays eggs and the male fertilises them only with lego fragments and some kind of binding agent from the male causing the fragments to melt and fuse together into a slurry and form a child.
As someone who is a cis male, I always find myself deeply interested in transgender peoples takes on things I grew up with. Things like Bionicle, and now Ben 10, have changed so much now that I've had the chance to glimpse through the eyes of someone who read the source material so differently, and frankly more personally than myself. Thank you for what you're doing for this community! Edit: This doesn't just go for Trans people, but pretty much all LGBTQ+ identifying people, and People of color. I've learned so much about media I adore thanks to marginalized people's own take-aways and readings of said media, and I could not be more grateful thay these people are sharing their experiences!
As someone who can take a lot of my mindset regarding sexual orientation from early 2000s to mid-2010s, you can be whatever you want as long as I am not forced it upon myself. To each their own as long as you aren't a jerk or obnoxious.
Absolutely agreed! This is the best way to be! Let people live, don't enforce your beliefs onto others, and just try to get by without making life hell for everyone else!
@@OlliepopVT, one of my personal ideas about Ben 10 and how the Omnitrix becomes latched to an individual comes from Race Against Time. It's confirmed Ben is 100% a database of all the aliens in it during multiple continuities. So on a DNA level Ben is an entire spectrum.
I get the “as long it’s not forced on me” ideology, but it seems people only bring that up to argue against characters being gay or trans because they’ll see those characters existing in that way as “forced” on the Audience when it’s not, it’s just them existing while queer that they don’t like. A lot of transphobes and bigots see that as forcing on children especially which is ridiculous because I’ve only seen cis straight characters in movies and tv until I was old enough to watch shameless, and I still came out queer.
@@joeyscomics5197 I use it because I have a transgender sibling. She's still the baby in the family, I still care about her, we're still making bus drivers uncomfortable while we still talk and reminisce over ourselves doing Shrek impressions waiting on the bus to get to us. That's why I say, I'm not forced to do anything and I am not in a place where it's uncomfortable because it's still the same person who I grew up with rather than acting any different, just choosing to identify differently because that's who they are.
@@D_0_S I’m happy you’re so supportive of them. I was just bringing it up because most people that I’ve heard say “do what you want just don’t force it on me” don’t know the difference between just bringing up trans people and forcing someone to transition. On paper it’s a reasonable thing to say but I’ve seen it used by bigots just covering their back.
Thank you, Bonnie! I've wanted to speak out for ages but didn't want to get into a pointless argument. This topic is really important to me, though, so in the end I just decided to face the subject head on!
Only thing I can say is more than a majority of Aliens Ben has access to are male but because the Omnitrix mixes his DNA and consciousness with theirs examples being Upgrade, Nanomech, Wildmutt etc. with those being more confirmed with how they're species is too animalistic or too mechanical which explains why Wildmutt even Ultimate or Ben 10K's versions lack the same appearance of his species.
Good video. I am non-binary myself and I have seen some anti-LGBTQ prejudice in the Ben 10 fandom. Personally, I think part of the reason for the presence of some intolerant people is because the Ben 10 franchise has a lack of obvious, canon LGBTQ characters. I have some character who I personally head canon as LGBTQ (Professor paradox, Lucy Mann, etc) but there is a lack of canon LGBTQ characters who would be obvious to the average Ben 10 fan. In general, the more canon LGBTQ characters you have in a series, the less likely you are to find anti-LGBTQ people in the fandom. It is not impossible to find anti-LGBTQ fans of LGBTQ friendly series (I once saw a video made by an ant-gay Christian who was a Steven Universe fan) but it is less likely. As a side note, I think the Ink tank are generally perceived as LGBTQ allies. They have had Pride flags in the background of many videos, I think they have collaborated with LGBTQ content creators and they have talked about shipping two Ben 10 characters in a queer relationship (Attea and Looma Red Wind). I have never seen any anti-LGBTQ bigotry coming from the Ink Tank and I would be surprised if I came across some. Also, personally, I consider Big Chill's species to be parthenogenic. Parthenogenesis is where a female produces offspring without having their egg fertilized. There is one species of lizard, called the whiptail lizard, in which every member of that species is female and parthenogenically produces eggs. I consider Big Chill's species to be entirely female, like that real world lizard species. I believe Ben considers Big Chill to be the mother of his necrofriggian kids, lending to the idea that Big Chill is female. Of course, people can interpret it differently, thats just my take.
About the whole LGBT+ thing, my mantra is "live and let die". As long as you are a good people, why should i even care about how do you feel? You desserve to be happy. My problem is with the group that makes more sound, that looks like they just want to be the center of everything
I agree with this entirely! As long as you aren't harming anyone, you can believe whatever tf you want inside your own head. Be respectful, be kind, be happy.
Fun fact is that in Brazil Portuguese translations, which are kinda official, Ben reffered to Pesky Dust as female when talking about how dangerous the alien would be to Kai, but aliens like WildMutt in portuguese would have the female pronouns because of the genders of the words in Portuguese, cuz "Besta" (Brazillian name for WildMutt) is a female word. But PeskyDust doesn't fall into this word play, and is mostly considered actually female by Ben himself in the show.
@@哲二川上 Portuguese is a romance language and all of them have gendered words and objects, in the case of Portuguese there is feminine and masculine, both depending on the context can stand as neutral ones
Oh....hm... I would argue that having t*ts does classifie kinda to mammel, but agree, that doesn't automaticly means two genetalia sex, there are egg laying mammels
I think it means they have characteristics analogous to mammals like the presence of milk-producing mammary glands for feeding their young, a neocortex region of the brain, fur or hair, and three middle ear bones but doesn't necessarily mean they fit under the same phylum so just because it has fur and mammary line structures doesn't indicate any intrinsic mammal-ness
@@airplanes_aren.t_real I did not think of this this intricet, I just assumed the presente of enlarged breasts indicates the presentse of milk (or some liquid with similar function) to feed their youngs... And this might indicates mammalien biology, at lest we do not know really different ones, but as I said, there are egg laying mammels, and technicly platyapuses has no nipples (look it up, they "sweat" milk, and use the mother's fur to suck the milk😅) soooo😅 But again, I absolutly see where you are coming from
To be very pedantic, no alien can be a mammal. To avoid getting into the weeds of taxonomy, a mammal is essentially any creature that descended from the life form in Earth's history that developed mammary glands, and no alien is descended from them. You could call them a mammal in a casual non-scientific way, essentially saying that the alien resembles mammals, but they technically wouldn't be one no matter how closely they resemble one. But also most sci-fi stuff ignores this and treats mammals, reptiles, birds, etc. as descriptive categories rather than a mark of lineage.
@@prestonlogan3808 I mean, I get you, but plants have genders (or st least many, not all) so "male" and "female" (if ve really want to categorise) do exist there too... So even that, can imagine a plant based life form also have an organ that function as breast
So sorry this has been happening to you! As someone who identifies as Genderfluid, a big reason I became comfortable in my own body is because of Ben 10! Being the person you are inside, regardless of what body you inhabit. I too have experienced parts of the fandom that feels this way. It's unfortunate, but the people in the fanbase I have grown close to (which is a very good handful) and the creators I know all do not support this transphobic attitude adopted by those parts of the fanbase. Thanks for talking about this, and I hope you're doing ok!
I would agree with that argument, but Gender Fluid is sometimes agreed to be part of the overall trans umbrella, such as with Non-Binary people as well!
well since ben is not real and also a singular case and not a community its hard to fit him in to one box. Hell with some of the playlists having their own identities and individuality it kinda makes it an even bigger can of worms. Closest we could use irl would prob be multigender.
Everyone acting transphobic like ben wouldn't find a way to use the gender swapping mode on the Omnitrix to help people like he did with the specie swap mode did to the hybreed
i dont see any good logical and more importantly morally reason to be transphobic, i have several trans friends and seeing them be bogged down by the shit of the world breaks my heart so thank you for speaking out about this
Being transphobic in the Ben 10 fandom is nuts. One of my flags is literally referred to as a “Ben 10” flag and another looks like something you’d see in the show as a flag some alien species would make for Ben. Ben would think that people being transphobic makes no sense. (Also the funniest thing about people saying you can only go with what you were assigned as birth, is funny to me because I was assigned a gender long before my birth and before my parents knew. My grandpa predicted me being a guy and my mom decided to chose a more neutral name because of that.)
@@Carfleeze Agender and Uniromantic(I use the green flag and not the red strike one cause it fits better when my flags are side by side). My sibling was the one who brought the Agender flag looking like the og omnitrix to my attention cause they always ask me about flags they’ve never seen and when they saw the flag while looking at the pride name cards on overwatch they asked “what’s this Ben 10 flag?”
Glad to hear the drama with The Ink Tank was cleared up. Still kinda curious what the whole issue was, but I suppose that’s not my business. Onto the main topic of the video: the franchise as a whole just doesn’t lend itself well to bigoted world views, thematically speaking. That said, some people just don’t want to engage with themes, so I think the series probably should’ve done better with explicit representation (especially in the main cast), rather than just metaphorical representation, that would’ve probably done a better job at deterring bigots from the fandom. That said, that’s probably a problem with higher ups at Cartoon Network/Warner Bros though, so I don’t hold it against the actual writing team.
Kiri, don’t blame yourself over the drama, you thought you were doing the right thing by trying to help someone in need, I think the way the Ink Tank responded was horrible, but the way you handled that response makes you really mature and the bigger person, and I respect you for that
Thank you, Grag! I didn't want to just make things worse, so I took their words on the chin, buckled down and just decided to move on. Life is too short to argue!
@@OlliepopVT No problem! Yeah, I completely get that, I’ve been in so much drama, that I just decided to stay away from it all, I got into drama cause i wanted to help people, but it only made my mental state worse
I'm usually joking under your videos, Kiri, but I want to be genuine for this one. This is probably the best way you could have handled the situation. When people defend their beliefs it's common for them to get antagonistic and angry, which can undermine their points, but there isn't a slightest bit of negativity in this video, despite addressing people who are ready to send actual death threats over their own beliefs. I'm glad you've done it this way, and my only wish is for this fandom to become a bit... closer together. We aren't many, but our hearts are filled with endless passion for this franchise.
I found this video after slowly realizing that Ben 10 was probably part of my early subconscious discovery as being someone different then how I grew up so I'm happy that it helped me in that way
i dissagree with the whole "ben is technically trans" thing but i do agree with the points. there was literally a whole episode with big chill being a "mom". he literally TRANS-forms into diffrent beings to solve problems and save the day. i get how thats very diffrent from transfering into a diffrent gender but still...like, thats basically saying you are all for furries but not trans people despite both being a part of the show technically.
I think a good interpretation that can be read as trans is this When Ben transforms into big chill he biologically transforms into an asexual species. If Ben retains his gender identity, viewing himself as male, then he is technically transmasc, since his gender identity does not match his physical sex during the transformation. However if he does view himself as a different gender while transformed, then sure it might not mean he's trans in the sense of the first interpretation, but the fact that he identifies himself differently while transformed should still count mostly due to how fluid his identity could be. Regardless which is the interpretation anyone prefers, I think the sheer fluidity of his transformations kinda makes his identity also fluid, whether his physical sex is what changes or his gender identity
i love this video because i feel like there are SO MANY fandoms where transphobia/ homophobia literally make no sense because the media itself never condemns the lgbt community, and is most of the time supportive of it
People who are religious who like Ben 10 that aren't transphobic I have a question so how would the angel Gabriel react to meeting Ben 10 just wondering also hope you're having a good day Kirin
@@OlliepopVT well, I am a 21 year old boy but I dont identify myself as homosexual, gay, straight or something. Whenever I like see females, I typically blushed and thats just normal. If a boy blushed to a guy, that's okay. Despite the presence of transphobia, they too are people and they have life. We have to treat them as they are literally people, not an animal that doesn't belong because THAT is not us. And yes, we must have a better Ben 10 community, but more importantly; Be better than ourselves.
Well i dont have hate for trans people and i dont have problems but for some reason when i saw feed back with the trans flag in the eye it looks a bit funny how his eye looks closed yet sorta like a frog eye
Ok, let s forget that ben 10 is a kid show, where they couldn't really show the genitals on ben's aliens. Even tho some aliens could've been identified as asexual, a lot of them can be divided by there gender via colors, biological structure etc. . Also there is no specefied proof of a gender swaping function in the omitrix, probably becuse Azmuth didn't think much of the change in experience when you would wear the watch. Anyway I'm glad that you shared such personal part of your life with us. 😊
I know this is serious but transphobes being a fan of a tv show where the mc transforms almost every episode, you would expect it to be trans ally heavy but here we are.
@@GmrGod10000 a device that plays with not only your genetic code but also your atomic structure, It's not unbelievable to see the omnitrix change Ben to a female human. It didn't happen in the show but it's not impossible.
Frankly i dont really care what you identify as. So long as we all chill i dont care if you have a unicorn horn. You do you. Also thank you for bringing up big chill as they are an interesting point.
@KirigiriKirin I am a scientist at heart, and I look at biology. So, your point on gender biology is interesting. Another point is that a lot of the species look the same, showing no sexual dimorphism. I respect people no matter what, as there is just no need for it. Also, you speak like a pure biologist and I approve.
I’m kinda surprised that Ben 10 of all cartoons has some people in the fanbase being transphobic, do to it literally being the best allegory for trans people but go figures. I’m glad you also make a follow up on the Kuro allegations, I’m glad both parties resolve the issue and hopefully in the future you don’t jump head first again. Amazing video as always Kiri!
@@Oera-B Wtf are you on about? Nobody asked you to be impressed about anything and also I hope you do realize that storytellers when making fiction do use reality as a basis for their stories, as well as the allegory that come from it. Also reality is trans people do exist and don't deserve the hate that comes from bigoted mindsets.
Ok I know alot off people are gonna write this but transphobia from a fandom whose main protagonist's power is to transform, yeah that sound like 2 brain cells competing for third place. Also don't beat yourself over the drama you thought you where helping someone and you responded in a mature way so don't worry about it. Keep up the amazing work and much respect for speaking how you feel mate.
Simple answear, not all Ben 10 fans are from the western world. There are fans from Eastern Europe, Middle East, or other parts of the world. Not only religion, but the culture in general.
Indeed you speak the truth! But I think the only transformation that Ben really sees as non male is Big Chill. Becouse the few times we heard Ben talk about his kids he said that he was their mother. So Ben at the very least has no problem with seeing himself as she if he transforms into female only species (and I use the word female becouse Big chill was able to give birth)
1:20 you are preaching, and that’s totally true us kids say whatever from reasons ranging from thinking it’s funny to hate and it’s mostly whatever’s popular at the time heck I myself was a victim of this a couple years back cause anti lgbtq was everywhere in my area but really all it takes is one moment for it to change for me it was my friends revealing they are gay and trans and then that’s when I realized the whole anti lgbtq stuff was stupid, people are still people regardless of if they identify differently from birth, I mean why hate them for being comfortable with themselves
@@OlliepopVT You dont need to like them since they are sus after all cant deny that but they keep the Ben 10 Fandom Active & interesting since what if ben 10 can summon the aliens rather then turning into them which makes it more fun oof lol
I think alot of peoples anger and distaste comes from the idea of people being so desperate to see their identity in a character, they’ll make head canon and then call someone homophobic because you don’t agree with the sentiment (not saying this in reference to you, just saying I’ve seen it alot) Ex. Trying to apply the label of “transgender” to Ben……he’s not and never is….all his transformations are male. This is made apparent by the fact that he is used as a *genetic base* for his transformations. Granted, yes, there are different methods of reproduction depending on the species…..but all species shown have been Male/Female oriented from what we’ve seen. People will see this and assume it’s a response based on some deep seated hatred to not have Ben be trans, but it’s just about accuracy for the character. Something that suddenly gets appreciated when a character that *actually is on the spectrum* is made to seem like they aren’t by any given person (This phenomenon extends to many characters nowadays that shapeshift in general) To say “I see similarities conceptually that I can compare to my identity and feel good about” is a wholly separate idea from “I want this character to be what I am, so I’m gonna be adamant that they are”
All this to say, both sides could definitely afford to be more tolerant. Non Trans people of accepting that we live in a crazy new era with crazy new possibilities….the mere fact that we *can* change genders now is a wild leap in our concept of life. And Trans people of the fact that, not every thing that shares similarities to you in character *has to be* of the same character. Transforming ≠ Transgender. It almost feels kinda minimizing to just attribute transgenderism to any character that can turn into another gender…..cause isn’t it supposed to be more about what’s inside??
@@OlliepopVT No,no…I totally get that, I was just going off of that example as well to make my point! That’s definitely my bad for not being clear, I should have extended that addendum from the first paragraph to the entire comment
I think one of the biggest reasons why there's so much homophobia/transphobia in this fandom is that the show was really popular in countries in and around middle east. And I don't think I have to explain how this might cause a lot of fans to be homophobic/transphobic.
8:06 I'm not sure if it's still canon but I saw somewhere that goop, and by extension his species (I'm just going off of Ben's pronouns for the sake of simplicity) is basically just one big cell and his planet is a cluster of cells. Making him either an asexual species or part of a larger whole
What’s so weird is that the show is about transforming into other beings to accept them. It’s literally about accepting differences. Never understood being a transphobic Ben 10 fan, your actively missing the point the show is about.
I would just like to correct 1 thing that I heard about. Echo echo are born from the sound emitted by their home planet, not their duplication. If they reproduced solely by their duplication, then they would all essentially be the same person, as we see with Ben. Just wanted to clarify that
Great video! I thought that you put your points across very well and agree that there both is a transphobia problem in the fandom and that it needs to be addressed. I hope this reaches out to people and helps them understand. Although on a lighter note, a couple years ago someone suggested Ben being nonbinary to me for a lot of similar reasons to a lot of the things that you brought up in this video and my third eye opened and have kinda held onto that since.
Kiri:Transfobia is a big problem in the ben 10 fandom. Me:WHAT.SINCE WHEN.HOW. Kiri(probably): Twitter.Never used it? Me:(sigh)Of course...Also no. Kiri(probably): Lucky.
I wish i had the confidence to come out as trans, but i know people wouldn't accept me. i have a hard enough time making friends already and a lot of people don't even accept gay people wear im from let alone trans people. i have nobody to talk to about those kinds of things. I don't know what i should do.

@@Oera-B I don't know if you've ever felt this way, but I've wanted this for a very long time. One of my earliest memories is thinking about being the opposite gender and i've thought about it more and more since then
As an autistic person who may seem “less” to peoples standards I myself think that being yourself is more important than pretending to be someone you aren’t as I consider myself am a straight male who is also a furry
Personally, I always headcannoned that advanced usage of the Omnitrix would be able to switch between genders, at least in species that have them, so a Ben more experienced in using it might be functionally gender fluid.
Glad all sides of the "drama" are resolved now, but,, oof, The Ink Tank saying "stop trying to be a hero" inside the Ben 10 community saddened me a little... your positivity (and dope-as Cannonbolt jacket) made up for it tho~
Now I don’t often comment on videos but as someone who hasn’t come out yet in my personal life and by extension my legal identity I’ve only faced what could be considered transphobia by 3 people and even then the only person who did it the most has gotten over this and it and become a better person and the other two may have just forgotten I’m trans. But none the less I just came here to comment for the algorithm and to say the idea of this fandom having transphobia is depressing in nature and Ben would absolutely call out transphobia and I personally believe that in the Ben 10 universe the different species of the galaxy helped the transgender community and by that I want to specify by help I mean as in with science and possibly magic when transitioning and helping people realise their identity in different ways like therapy or some other form like say a device that allows the user to swap their gender the same way the omnitrix does so the person can experience being in their preferred body type. And of course Ben himself is a good dude who would support the community.
Though I’d give a mini update for anyone who would care: I’ve come out to my mother and it turns out the two members of my family I though had forgotten just wasn’t sure how to start conversations about it, admittedly there seems to have been a slip up or two but it was not in a negative way just a little accident, the third person who I had some issues with we’ve talked it out and handled the issues.
Ben def the kind of person to beat the shit out of a transphobe either physically or verbably with his witty remarks. and holy shit i relate to the Transbian egg part XD i was one until a few years ago. also i LOVE your Vtuber Model.

While child petrosapian’s exist it’s possible they follow gemstone rules and just grow in size
I never saw the follow up about the Ink Tank? I remember a "I won't support the Ink Tank but won't give details till the victim talks about their issues" But then I never saw anything after that?
I think it would be a neat concept that ben has one or few transformations that race alone has female only, but ben's male DNA is still transferred into his transformations(There for a while I thought Pesky Dust was female the way Ben shrilled turning into a Nemurnina but its been debunked cause we seen Male variants as background folk), so it be a scenario like Nanomech almost, or even on akin to the Xenomorph King from the Alien franchise being artificial but a male variant nonetheless. While as these female lifeforms he uses aspects of feminity in that regard but remember this franchise is targeted to young male viewers to sell toys lets not deviate TOO far from that.
I would even point out that the... Without better words, "idea" of transgender is being that one whishes to live in an other body, as identyfieing as that. This idea kinda can be projected to Feedback, as Ben is known to liked being him, in hero time, when it wasn't convinient and out of being hero, just in free time... Not perfect paralel, but it's kinda there, at least the point to being more understanding trough experiencing existence as different lifes
As someone who doesn’t comment much, this video was handled well. While I am straight, I obviously have limits to my thought of the trans topic. Live your life how you want to as an adult and be happy. This situation was handled the best way it should have been.
as a transfem myself this video feels like a very needed discussion, i didn't experience transphobia in the fandom places myself (although that's probably because even if i comment something, which i rarely do, i never "revealed" my identity besides of bios or a small flag in my reddit icon, and usually people don't immediately go look at my profile i guess) but wherever there's a queer person unfortunately there's also gonna be queerphobic people, so this is an important discussion to have and you did a great job as always. I also never thought about "trans Ben" but damn if it's true 😹
And and and, didn’t Azmuth said the omnitrix was made to “bring back an alien from the brink of extinction”? Meaning if a population only have say male gender left, a female individual would be required thus a gender setting be required? Also as a big fan of Kuro, you are forgiven.
Hey Kiri, Love this video, as a muslim person myself, I don't have a problem with Trans people, everyone has they're own identification and self expression, like how I use my art to express myself, and while I don't have problems with people's beliefs and identification, the only problem I have is when they enforce who they are to me when I already accept them and bombard me with their personal opinions towards me that are typically incredibly rude and insensitive towards me and my culture, putting transgender identity and ideas in with Ben 10 and helping those who may be having a hard time with it, you're very brave and I respect you for that, also people getting mad at me for situations out of my control, like if I get something, someone points something out about it, then I feel bad for doing, if you've read this whole comment then Thanks P.S. Would you mind going over my Ken 10 redesigns so far
The way feedbacks dial is displayed reminds me of SOTO movie how the omnitrix counted down to self destruction via orange bars but now I guess it just a big trans bomb in this context lol
I just wanted to say the section where you made claim to where if ben turned into a female he would become stronger that's actually not how the omnitrix works I agree about the deguise part but not this since if ben turns into a specific species the omnitrix turns into the peak physical of that said species without training or knowledge or time used but I like the video nothing said was inherently wrong or bad I just thought I would say something in relation to this
Never thought of it that way. Honestly I thought you were going to strech a few statements from one of the shows from here to Mars and back to justify Ben being trans. But I gotta say you brought up really good points and explainations for those points and I'm happy I kept watching even if it was first just to find out what happend to the Ink Tank situation. My first thought when you brought up the Gender of Bens transformations was just that "but the Onmitrix is set to always turn the user to the species equivalant of their own gender" but I completly forgot about Asexual Species and Species that have neither Male nor Female but other Genders instead. Also I don't know if this is the first apperance of the VTuber model (probably not but still) but this is the first time I saw it so I just wanted to say it looks great and the design is really cool. edit: I just checked for the first video with the Model and DAMN I missed a lot of your videos, jesus fuck it's almost a bit embarrassing XD
Such a character development. Jokes aside, I’m proud that you own to your mistakes. I just hope that you and Ink Tank are in good terms now. Possibly friends again. It’s vague due to the situation and circumstances. All I can say. Live and love everyone
I have never seen a transphobic Ben 10 fan but honestly if you are looking at Twitter for such stuff, then you definitely will see hate for everything, thats why I myself use Twitter once in a blue moon, to troll/hate people on Twitter for fun also Ben definitely isnt transgender, lets just not use gender related stuff for such iconic characters (sorry if I hurt anyone's feelings here)
Not looking at Twitter ngl, they're just all in my comment section. Also I was not saying Ben IS trangender, I made a comparison for the sake of making a point.
Fair! There were certainly leaps made, but to be fair, most of my theory and discussion videos have those as well, so that might just be how my brain processes information heh. Thank you for watching!
thank you for doing this. while i know that a video like this won't actually do much, i still really appreciate it as a fellow trans woman in this fandom.
I'm saving this from the perspective from a non-trans person Though proudly Bi, not a caparison at all, but something of note. I think it's a bold statement saying Ben Tennyson is transgender. I think a slight addendum should be made. Ben 10 is / would be considered trans but Ben Tennyson isn't. I think there should be a distinction made between the two, as the physical character of Ben Tennyson doesn't refer to himself nor do other referred to him as anything but He/him, something I do think character use They in reference to him once but I have no exact quote. I'm writing this next part after watching the whole video, as Kiri goes counters my point, I don't know how I feel about Ben being considered trans even thought he himself isn't written to personally be it. He doesn't get to choose the sex of the aliens, as if there is another option he doesn't know how to change the setting. Once again, I am not trans, so I don't know how you or other trans people consider someone forcible changing their identity without being allowed to pick (regardless of the forms locked biology from the Omnitrix), as it should be of their own personal choosing. I get a weird feeling from what I just wrote that i'm calling a literal trans person transphobic here, i'm not, i'm not good voicing my view here because I don't want to come off a disingenuous because there is a lot of merit to what Kirigiri is saying. I just think from my gauge of Ben's character, which lets be real is one of 1000000000000, he would always consider himself a cis man no matter the form. If suddenly a recording of a writers room featuring duncan rouleau from 2005 surfaced that said the opposite and that Ben indeed considers himself trans, then fuck yeah more power to concept, hell even if that was a retconn from a currently running sequel series I'd be for it. But the character of Ben 10, as a transformed Hero / mantle certainly is for the reasons you mention. I believe there should be a separation here because without the Omnitrix, Ben would probably not even question his gender. Will say this is a reach, but from what we can tell from No Watch ben, he still goes by male pronouns. granted, that's a different universe and that is a whole different can of worms. Also, I think it's fine to separate Ben 10 from Ben as the title is used weirdly in the show anyway, we never see him come up with the title and characters just suddenly start referring to him by it. I was going to make a Kamen Rider reference but it might be too niche. will say i'm not greatly educated on a lot of the LGBT topics mentioned, as i'm from Ireland and when i was in school a lot of import things like trans rights, gender identity and LGBT history wasn't taught. I do think if the Ben 10 Series was made today as if it didn't air in 2005, I can totally imagine either the Man of Action team or Dwayne McDuff using a lot of LGBT theming. Dwayne's writing lends itself very well to social injustice topics, as shown through Static Shock, which to my knowledge had an openly gay character. Though if he was good representation I have no idea as i've not read much of the comic or watched a lot of the show.
Honestly, i think I've said this is some way before but it shouldn't matter. I don’t care if your male, female, trans, gay, ect ect. If your nice then good but if not then why?
I don’t think I’ve ever heard of the transphobia in the Ben 10 fandom. Then again I do enjoy the Ben 10 series casually, usually only watching Ben 10 related content once in a blue moon. But I never considered Ben to be trans coded till now, so that’ll be interesting for me when I view the series again. It’s frustrating to know that people hate on trans people just because they want to feel like themselves for once. (Warning:rant incoming. More praise after the long rant, so read at your own risk.) For me personally it’s especially frustrating since one of my family members that I live with is transphobic, although they don’t actively state their opinion of trans people in public. And it’s so frustrating because I keep trying to tell them whenever they bring it up in private that trans people don’t have mental illnesses (well, I am aware some might, but not any that would make them trans because that’s not how they work.) or that the very surgeries that they claim that some people regret having more often that not have no regret or that they regret it only because of the transphobia around them. But I don’t ever seem to have the right words to properly express those ideas or the data to back it up, so unfortunately I sometimes just agree with them to try and end the discussion, though unfortunately from recent memory that doesn’t work (and they don’t rant about it often it’s more inconsistent than anything) so honestly I feel kinda like I’m just as guilty for agreeing with them to stop the conversation, but at the same time it also makes me feel guilty because other than the transphobia, they’re a great person, if somewhat overbearing. But other than that rant, you are one of the most mature people on the internet I have discovered, and I appreciate your ability to have a level head and the ability to accept your own mistakes. Especially with something you didn’t mean to happen with your videos about that Ink Tank situation. (do not remember much about it, all I knew was that something potentially happened, but not enough information was known to give a proper opinion on.) so again, thank you for being a great creator on the internet with a wise view!
Let's please not forget that surgeries done on intersex babies are done without the baby's consent, and have no consideration for what sex or gender the person identifies as, but it's just a judgement the doctor makes. It's a violation of the intersex person's bodily autonomy. That's where the term "assigned gender at birth" originates from. It is a horrible practice and needs to be stopped, while consensual gender affirming care needs to be normalized.

Valid arguments!
Interesting take!
About the whole LGBT+ thing, my mantra is "live and let die". As long as you are a good people, why should i even care about how do you feel? You desserve to be happy.
My problem is with the group that makes more sound, that looks like they just want to be the center of everything

That is because our languages pronoun system is different

But again, I absolutly see where you are coming from
To be very pedantic, no alien can be a mammal.

That said, that’s probably a problem with higher ups at Cartoon Network/Warner Bros though, so I don’t hold it against the actual writing team.

i dissagree with the whole "ben is technically trans" thing but i do agree with the points. there was literally a whole episode with big chill being a "mom". he literally TRANS-forms into diffrent beings to solve problems and save the day. i get how thats very diffrent from transfering into a diffrent gender but still...like, thats basically saying you are all for furries but not trans people despite both being a part of the show technically.
That thing about Ben was just to make a point, I don't personally subscribe to that idea heh
I think a good interpretation that can be read as trans is this
When Ben transforms into big chill he biologically transforms into an asexual species.

I think alot of peoples anger and distaste comes from the idea of people being so desperate to see their identity in a character, they’ll make head canon and then call someone homophobic because you don’t agree with the sentiment (not saying this in reference to you, just saying I’ve seen it alot)
Ex. Something that suddenly gets appreciated when a character that *actually is on the spectrum* is made to seem like they aren’t by any given person
(This phenomenon extends to many characters nowadays that shapeshift in general)
To say “I see similarities conceptually that I can compare to my identity and feel good about” is a wholly separate idea from “I want this character to be what I am, so I’m gonna be adamant that they are”
All this to say, both sides could definitely afford to be more tolerant.
My statement on "Trans Ben" was purely for the sake of example, and not something I was actually trying to push. Apologies for the confusion!
Ah, good point
8:06 I'm not sure if it's still canon but I saw somewhere that goop, and by extension his species (I'm just going off of Ben's pronouns for the sake of simplicity) is basically just one big cell and his planet is a cluster of cells. Making him either an asexual species or part of a larger whole
Interesting, I didn't know this!
Why are we categorizing aliens in human standard's?
Because we're humans and that's the only standards we can use (duh! 🙄)
For the same reason most of them are bipedal, have the same sexes as us and breathe oxygen
And all the species names are earth-based
@@alienanetit's almost anthropology will always bleed into alien /s
What’s so weird is that the show is about transforming into other beings to accept them. It’s literally about accepting differences.
Never understood being a transphobic Ben 10 fan, your actively missing the point the show is about.
you people use this non-sequitur for literally franchise
Hehe, it makes more sense than you'd think!
''Ben is trans'' OFCOURSE HE S TRANS ITS IN THE NAME TRANSFORMER
HE TRANSFORMS FROM ONE FORM/ORGANISM TO THE NEXT
HE'S AN ACTUAL TRANSFORMER!!🤣

You should think very carefully about why you want to be the opposite gender and whether it's really necessary before anything else.
@@Oera-B I don't know if you've ever felt this way, but I've wanted this for a very long time. One of my earliest memories is thinking about being the opposite gender and i've thought about it more and more since then
Almost every fandom unfortunetly has people like this.
Yeah, it's a real shame

I used to be like that when I was a kid, glad I grew out of that phase
Fr, anyone who grows out of that phase got it lucky
As an autistic person who may seem “less” to peoples standards I myself think that being yourself is more important than pretending to be someone you aren’t as I consider myself am a straight male who is also a furry
14:44 You did what you thought was best thats all anyone can do
Yep! What matters is learning from my mistakes and moving on!
Agreed
Personally, I always headcannoned that advanced usage of the Omnitrix would be able to switch between genders, at least in species that have them, so a Ben more experienced in using it might be functionally gender fluid.
Yeah!
Glad all sides of the "drama" are resolved now, but,, oof, The Ink Tank saying "stop trying to be a hero" inside the Ben 10 community saddened me a little... your positivity (and dope-as Cannonbolt jacket) made up for it tho~
Hehe, glad you like the jacket!
being transphobic in a fandom about a series where main characters main ability is transforming is wild
He transforms into other aliens duh are you really that dumb and those aliens are the biological males of those species
because changing ur species and gender is different
Preach!
Alien race( All Genders ) will be revealed soon in the franchise
Ben def the kind of person to beat the shit out of a transphobe either physically or verbably with his witty remarks. and holy shit i relate to the Transbian egg part XD i was one until a few years ago. also i LOVE your Vtuber Model.
Aww thank you so much Blaze! I'm very happy with my model hehe

Zero organs

Diamond doesn’t particularly age and Tetrax and diamond head look identical despite the age difference much like jellyfish capable of reverting themselves back into children.
While child petrosapian’s exist it’s possible they follow gemstone rules and just grow in size
I never saw the follow up about the Ink Tank? I remember a "I won't support the Ink Tank but won't give details till the victim talks about their issues"
But then I never saw anything after that?
The videos came out just a few days after the original one, I believe
I mean ben 10 is a 10 year old kid who can become alien
Wtf is this he a boy proper biological man stop corrupting the character
I would even point out that the... Without better words, "idea" of transgender is being that one whishes to live in an other body, as identyfieing as that. This idea kinda can be projected to Feedback, as Ben is known to liked being him, in hero time, when it wasn't convinient and out of being hero, just in free time... Not perfect paralel, but it's kinda there, at least the point to being more understanding trough experiencing existence as different lifes
Yeah! While perhaps not "Transgender", Ben did certainly feel more comfortable in a, for lack of a proper term, "Transspecies" environment
thank you kiri for succesfully removing transphobia from the ben 10 fandom we love you (i am trans myself :3)
I'll keep doing my best! Trans pride ❤
It’s very weird to me how a series about a person transforming into aliens has a very transphobic fandom
Thank you for speaking out about this
And thank YOU for watching!
because changing ur species is different than changing ur gender
As someone who doesn’t comment much, this video was handled well. While I am straight, I obviously have limits to my thought of the trans topic. Live your life how you want to as an adult and be happy. This situation was handled the best way it should have been.
Thank you for the positive feedback! I'm glad you think I handled things well!
as a transfem myself this video feels like a very needed discussion, i didn't experience transphobia in the fandom places myself (although that's probably because even if i comment something, which i rarely do, i never "revealed" my identity besides of bios or a small flag in my reddit icon, and usually people don't immediately go look at my profile i guess) but wherever there's a queer person unfortunately there's also gonna be queerphobic people, so this is an important discussion to have and you did a great job as always. I also never thought about "trans Ben" but damn if it's true 😹
I'm glad that I am able to represent people like you with this video, Alez! All the love to you!
And and and, didn’t Azmuth said the omnitrix was made to “bring back an alien from the brink of extinction”? Meaning if a population only have say male gender left, a female individual would be required thus a gender setting be required?
Also as a big fan of Kuro, you are forgiven.
EXACTLY! That's another good example for the gender swap function!
And thank you for the forgiveness/gen
Hey Kiri, Love this video, as a muslim person myself, I don't have a problem with Trans people, everyone has they're own identification and self expression, like how I use my art to express myself, and while I don't have problems with people's beliefs and identification, the only problem I have is when they enforce who they are to me when I already accept them and bombard me with their personal opinions towards me that are typically incredibly rude and insensitive towards me and my culture, putting transgender identity and ideas in with Ben 10 and helping those who may be having a hard time with it, you're very brave and I respect you for that, also people getting mad at me for situations out of my control, like if I get something, someone points something out about it, then I feel bad for doing, if you've read this whole comment then Thanks

The way feedbacks dial is displayed reminds me of SOTO movie how the omnitrix counted down to self destruction via orange bars but now I guess it just a big trans bomb in this context lol
LOL
I just wanted to say the section where you made claim to where if ben turned into a female he would become stronger that's actually not how the omnitrix works I agree about the deguise part but not this since if ben turns into a specific species the omnitrix turns into the peak physical of that said species without training or knowledge or time used
but I like the video nothing said was inherently wrong or bad I just thought I would say something in relation to this
Never thought of it that way.
Aww, thank you so much! This comment was absolutely wonderful
Such a character development.
Jokes aside, I’m proud that you own to your mistakes. I just hope that you and Ink Tank are in good terms now. Possibly friends again. It’s vague due to the situation and circumstances.
All I can say. Live and love everyone
So, are you going to review their new aliens as you planned to before the drama?
Yes indeedee!
I have never seen a transphobic Ben 10 fan but honestly if you are looking at Twitter for such stuff, then you definitely will see hate for everything, thats why I myself use Twitter once in a blue moon, to troll/hate people on Twitter for fun
also Ben definitely isnt transgender, lets just not use gender related stuff for such iconic characters (sorry if I hurt anyone's feelings here)
Not looking at Twitter ngl, they're just all in my comment section.
Also I was not saying Ben IS trangender, I made a comparison for the sake of making a point.
I feel you made smaller-bigger jumps in logics at some points, but I mostly agree. Interesting video🙂
You never know until you try!

🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨Why do people act like that?🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨
Who knows! I'm sure it's mostly just lack of education and people wanting to be a part of something
The classic fear of change. And feeling that they feel trans people are trans because of hate.
Honestly, i think I've said this is some way before but it shouldn't matter. I don’t care if your male, female, trans, gay, ect ect. If your nice then good but if not then why?
Completely valid!
More praise after the long rant, so read at your own risk.)
For me personally it’s especially frustrating since one of my family members that I live with is transphobic, although they don’t actively state their opinion of trans people in public.
I'll keep improving and doing my best!

thankyou for speaking your truth. youre brave and its a shame theres ignorant and or transophobic or homophobic people out there.
