The rest would be him fighting with Eren's ideas and destructive desires in an internal level while also having the plot propel by the external antagonist.

    I had a theory that this "Ymir's" centipide is basically "life will" itself, most likely this tree is supposed to symbolize the Yiggdrasil, 9 worlds, 9 titans etc... So the thing is, this centipide came to Ymir when she was dying and wanted to live, but it's also interesting that Ymir became slave to Fritz, I think she became slave to children / main goal of life - to reproduce. That's why she is slave in Paths dimension. But when Ymir is kind, liked living things, in flashbacks she said basically "you need to live that everyone likes you and help others", Eren is about freedom, freedom imo is also one of the main goals of life, so I think if he still alive he is not a slave like Ymir, but maybe more like a slave to freedom, so my thought is, if it supposed to represent Yiggdrasil, what if the The "Ymir" tree supposed to be "Asgard tree" like gods literally gave Ymir powers (it also might be the Midgard tree), but the Eren tree supposed to be Alfheim tree. So if Asgard tree spawned when there is wiil to live, Alfheim tree is spawned when there is will to freedom. It sounds like a complete nonsense (especially because English is not my native language) but it kinda holds... Well first of all, Eren has green eyes, sometimes ltblue, Elfs are often portrayed with either green or ltblue eyes, elf ears in titan form, and he is pretty tall looking titan. We know for a fact that some of the titan stuff is based on Scandinavian mythology. After rereading, looks like a lot of overthinking nonsense tbh.

      Honestly yeah I could honestly see this being something because I also looked into Ymir and realized the founding titan is supposed to be the first giant. Aswell as the symbolism between the coordinate and the tree that connects all eldians to be like that of the trees in mythology. But idk it’s possible but I don’t think that isayama would think this deep into it and maybe only used it for reference and inspiration because poking at how rushed the story is, I don’t think he would think about something like this.

      @ssknnth 9 месяцев назад +4

      @@erenjeager5290By killing the person she loved most, Mikasa showed Ymir that it was possible to escape her imprisonment and finally become free from her devotion. In doing so, Mikasa effectively changed the past because now Ymir is not enslaved to King Fritz and no longer needs to create titans for him. This is how the titans cease to exist after Eren's death. Ymir would live a long life and eventually die without passing her titans down and so the titans never exist against. So in a sense, the events of the past would be completely rewritten by the events of the future.

    my take on the end is that some of the founder's power remained with eren at his grave, then developed the tree again. fate dictates that the cycle repeats over and over again, that the struggle for freedom will continue endlessly (as said in the ending song lyrics)
    however it's unlikely that the titans would come back in their previous form, as look at the boy compared to ymir. while the boy is venturing here seemingly out of his free will and free of danger, ymir was desperately running away, injured, trying to survive. as zeke says, the paths and the titans were born out of ymir's will to survive, so she escaped to it after death. most likely out of the boy something better will come to be, something unlike the titans, showing there is still hope for humanity to escape the cycle after all this
    and no eren won't come back to life nor will the series continue, i'd rather it not pull a "somehow eren returned" thing

      For years he has suffered a hellish life, he suffered more then anyone else. Im not justifying his actions with his suffering btw.
      But lets say he didn’t go for it, he went to the cabin and lived in peace with Mikasa till he died. Then Marley would attack paradis anyway cause they’re scared of the rumbling. I have another theory. remember it was said that the founding Titan can see the memories of the future Titan? Eeran saw far into the future and what he saw is that despite him destroying 80% of the world - the world will be rebuild and llife will continue, civilization grow, war and similar events happen down the road in history. so for him it made sense to take care of the friends despite the horrific immediate consequences coz he knew the history will make its path anyway as it always does.

    I saw a video that said the hallucigenia takes form of the persons greatest need or wish or whatever. Ymir wanted to be healed, so the hallucigenia gave her a big, strong, regenerating body. The boy at the end would obviously have no such desire, so he wouldn't be the beginning of another titan army. As to why the titan marks are still on Eren's face, I just imagine it's because he died that way. All the other shifters faces we see changed because they are alive. If we could've seen Zeke's face, it would be a bit easier to draw parallels. In the case Zeke didn't have his marks anymore, I feel like we could confirm Eren is indeed still alive. But we don't see him anymore after he dies, so we can never know for sure. Also, if we were to get an AOT spin-off, I'd prefer a prequel. Partly because I feel like a sequel would have all the characters mentioning the rumbling and everything over and over.

    Omg you might just be right! A couple more points:
    - Gabby shooting Eren's head clean off clearly didn't kill him, so why would Mikasa doing the exact same thing do it?
    -Your answer to the previous point may be that Ymir/hallucogenia saved him as that's what grows out of his head. BUT remember they clearly did NOT kill the hallucogenia in the final episode! They even comment that it's not even worth trying to do so since it survived Armin's colossal/nuke blast.
    Sure Ymir might now have closure and be clear to finally pass on, but that doesn't include the hallucogenia. Oh wow that perfectly fits your theory! (Lol and I even commented on a thread immediately after the ending about Eren's head not decomposing, but I didn't think much of it! It also explains the tree at the end but I just assumed that that was just thematic.)
    I hope you're right, not only because I don't want the show to end, but also bc as much as I love the show and the ending, I just saw a great video about how too many people still are misinterpreting Eren's character, essentially excusing genocide and fascists (sorry "Jaegerists") because of a deterministic timeline. And yeah as clear as it is that we should not admire him as he is a "pathetic garden variety idiot that came upon power" and in his world he was the ultimate slave to the future that he couldn't change - we in the real world should not be living our lives assuming that the future is determined and that we have no free will...)
    Again I still love the show and ending above almost all others, but I think it could be even better if say, like Guts in the later chapters of Berserk Eren can learn to overcome his trauma and grow from his weaknesses...perhaps representing a hope that maybe humanity can eventually outgrow the "cycle of hatred/violence."...(or as Armin would say, even if that goal is not feasible we should still strive for it...)

      I normally don't reply to old comments, but the 2 ppl who replied earlier got it half right. While Zeke coming into contact with Eren did play a part in him not dying right then and there, the main reason why he survived having his head shot off was because that organism was inside him (once Zeke made contact with Eren's head). And he "died" when Mikasa cut off his head because, at the end, they separated Eren and the organism. If he and that organism came together before Mikasa was able to chop Eren's head off, Eren would have lived

While I no longer remember my opinion at the time, *now* I do not believe that Eren somehow survived. (Nor do I think it would be a good idea.) However I still stand by most of the rest of my post. For example I believe that the Hallucinogenia's fate was left completely vague. Last we see Reiner is wrestling with it while Armin nuke-transforms. But we niether directly see it die nor run away. Why can't people just let perfection be perfection. It's so anoying people always wanting more and more. Just this once be satisfied with this very good thing we got. Besides why risk the very high chance of a followup that doesn't do justice to the original.
    Also some points of yours are a bit off and some depend heavily on interpretation. Like assuming that mikasa meant heaven. Besides that, great theory. Tho I do think the tree was meant as symbolism that it is a cycle and not meant to be taken litteraly. Yeah eren didn't stop war forever and the cycle continues, but he did establish peace for thousands of years and I think many people underestimate how great of a feat that is. There can never rly be true peace, just like nothing can ever be in a true state of balance. It's just not the way the world works; the universe, space, time, politics, life, there is no existence without chaos. And that is not persé a bad thing, which a lot of people are making it out to be. Saying eren didn't succeed in creating peace, etc. They make it seem like he failed, when in actuality (like I said before) he achieved an amazing feat (1000+ years of peace) and succeeded in wiping out the power of the titans.
    Ps. Sorry, this comment is way too long. It's just annoying to see people dismiss all the good that came from his actions and basically say his whole life was a waste, when it's simply not true.

And what made you stick afterwards was the plot and the badass characters. I don't think it would be popular if they made an AoT 2 because it's hard to reproduce nostalgia and the first time feelings you get out of the show, but it's not impossible it would have to take a complete new way creative and intriguing while still managing to give us that epicness that was the first season and a solid story to follow it.

You could still throw in the power of the titans coming back, and at that point it's like titans fighting mecha titans. Witht he right writting there could be something gold there.

    Why didn’t Eren visit Mikasa in the day dream state the way he did with Armin and others in the last episode? I believe Eren did visit Mikasa and gave her instructions about what Mikasa should do after she killls him. I have a sneaking suspicion that Eren did not die and him and Mikasa lived their lives together in secret.

    I wouldn’t consider myself a hardcore AOT enthusiast, or anything more than a lowkey-fan. While I did finish watching this gem of a series from start to finish, I may not be able to pick up every small detail about every character, or fully understand every single scenario that went down during all 4 seasons-I do believe Isayama along with the anime directors, added the scene with the boy delving down into the tree in the end-credits for 2 main reasons.
    First reason being very niche, Isayama as a writer simply wanted to leave his fans with some sort of plot-armor or source material so they could come up with their own ending or headcanon as to what happens towards the end or future of AOT.
    Second reason would be that, just in case once day Isayama does decide to return to being an active writer again, he is able to use the scene with the boy entering the tree as a continuation of AOT if he still does not feel 110% satisfied with where the story has gotten so far. Or maybe, even use that scene with boy entering the tree as source material for another one of his new creations. Almost like a prequel but not really a legit prequel. Instead, a completely different story involving different characters but it’s just set in the universe of AOT with mutual history involving titan-like monsters and a deity figure like Ymir.
    Nonetheless, nobody knows what the future actually holds for Isayama or AOT itself…however, I do believe that Isayama has left us with a lot of loose ends when it comes to this series. I’m just as nervous and excited to see what this genius-excuse-of-a-madman ( Isayama ) has in store for his readers and audience in the future. One thing for sure, AOT has definitely grown to be one of my most memorable and liked animes of all time.

    Head cannon: If the cycle repeats like at the end with the boy and his dog, the boy is going to be the next founder and Eren's head is probably gonna play the same role as the glowing hallucigenia that gave Eren his founding titan powers.

  • @lalisasmr
    @lalisasmr 2 месяца назад +1

    I'm pretty sure Eren is dead. The marks didn't go away because he died while still being a titan. We have to remember that at this point, Eren was just a head. He never bothered regenerating his entire body back. Who's to say he even could? He only survived getting shot by Gabi because he made contact with Zeke. The fact Mikasa is as sad as she is cements that he didn't suddenly come back while she was carrying him back home. I don't think anyone would be surprised that she found a way to take him back, even if he was literally rotting in her arms. They would have run away together if he was alive.
    Eren shared some traits with Ymir, but he was mainly a slave of choices, mostly his own at the end. He saw that the conflict would continue to some degree, and in large part because of his choices. He created the Jaegerists who only want to keep fighting. So what was the point of the rumbling? His own decision-making was flawed, but he was stuck. What would have made sense was to eliminate the titan powers. Why neither he nor Zeke realized that was also a solution, is beyond me. No need to sterelize anyone or commit genocide. Level the playing field as much as possible and let everyone who wants to fight have at it.
