We’ve all been saying this for a while now, especially us OG’s. Things haven’t changed for the longest time now, it’s as if Apex is running on newly converted players to the detriment of OG’s leaving the game, but this model won’t strive for ever.

I’m tired of constantly going up against 3 stack pred / masters as a solo queue player, if apex wants any chance at long term success they need to fix the SBMM situation (especially for solo players, apex has the worst solo experience out of any game I have played)
Only ever solo queued and eventually was able to no fill consistently and felt proud of my improvements. But now SBMM makes soloing pure hell and feels like a goddamn job. Started play the finals the last 3 weeks and while I miss Apex I’m having fun again so until their is a genuine fix to matching-making Apex is on hold rn

Same here, got banned cause I exposed a cheater, Lettucefieldtheory (mod) got really pissed off for some reason, even tho my posts (multiple) had over 5k upvotes. Same with the EA Apex forum, a few of us got perma banned for “naming and shaming” actual cheaters.
So if it isnt beneath EA to use EOMM, whos to say they arent doing more nefarious things like maybe putting you in easier lobbies when you buy skins, or taking into account how much money youve spent and that plays a part in your matchmaking. It sounds crazy but COD is under fire rn because of this.
I wouldn't be surprised honestly. If you think about it, some players open their wallet like nothing. If they keep getting easy lobbies and winning more games; i'm sure that contributes to those people spending even more money.
Oh it’s definitely the same as COD. Along with the influx of cheaters using Zens, Titans, XIMs on console and Aimbot w/ ESP on PC. There is definitely a “White-List” of players which just got exposed as well. They also using NetDumas and VPNs for bot lobbies too.
Ain’t no way I’m getting easier lobbies i dumped tons of cash in into this game, I’m 3x masters on Xbox 4k horizon my pubs matches are gladiator lobbies and my friends can’t even hang they get dumped on if i can’t clutch it. It’s bad bro makes me want to play another game because not everyone is top 3500 player bases consistently like me. So when they que up its 3 stacks on stacks feels like masters lobbies tbh half of the time.
My lobbies are so sweaty that i haven’t had a high dmg game in awhile every now and then i hit low 3000s but 4k nah man haven’t got one of those in a long time
With the SBMM it has completely turned me away from the game. I want to have fun but it seems impossible. Getting constantly stomped isn’t fun. When it’s a game like Dark souls for example I can get better at the game and I’m rewarded for my time and effort As to where if you are trying to get better in apex it just keeps you in a perpetual state of losing against someone who was better than you. I rarely if ever fight against people lower skilled than me so when I’m getter better I’m never feeling that I am. That’s not fun. When you are running on a treadmill at least there is some benefit to doing that it rewards you but the treadmill apex has you on doesn’t have any benefit at all. Just suffering…….

yeah man its bad, i just had a 25+ min queue in ranked just to end up with a lvl 30 and his console friend on my team getting almost 0 damage and no kills while i had 6 kills and 1400 dmg when we died to a triple pred team

I just spent a really long time finding the perfect sensitivity for my aim after switching to controller and it really does feel like aimbot to me, having dropped a 33k 6400dmg game last night in control with most of my LTM games being 20+ kills (i dont play ranked or pubs anymore). But im also not the type of person to call other people cheaters just for using controller because it still does take an immense amount of training to get consistent on it. I just put so much effort into getting good (playing since the first day of release) that I dont really want to just quit and lose my skill you know... even though the game literally is in its worse state rn.
So today I was completing the new weekly quests, just leaving dropship and leaving game. And holy shit guys, the number of people I saw do the same thing was mind boggling! And get this- most were 4k 20bomb masters/pred players. I saw their death boxes drop immediately from the sky, landed on a few, and saw their badges. These people are totally “glitching” their way into easier lobbies. It’s bullshit.
I ran a few games last night with a buddy of mine who plays on console, our first game in we ran into Trev with his 3 stack of preds and got demolished. The next game we ran into revengeful, non stop triple Pred badges the entire game. It was the worst night on Apex since i started playing.

I completely skipped last season due to other games taking my attention but when I came back to apex this season, I was getting super high kill games and the lobbies felt “normal” but then I started playing against 3stack masters and preds that one one clip me. Hiswattson is def onto something

I was that player tbh, until a few months ago, dropped the game after too many broken promises, and not fixing actual issues, and adding more layers to the detriment of solo queue players like trials fro rank, that really killed it for me as a regular high diamond solo player.

me and my friends tried out leaving all games and throwing them and after 100 -+ games we still went against pros or 3 times preds and its actually not fun because my 2 kd doesn't mean I am a multi masters/pred player. And I haven't touched pubs in 2 months, yes 2 months I only play ranked and I cameback and it was still the same only preds and pro's. So for me and my friends it didn't apply what you said and what hiswattson said.
just leave jumpship before timer is up. do this about 6 times and ull be put into bot lobbies. i did it no fill trios and would drop 4k 20 bombs. easy af.
The whole “no audio” thing is not a glitch. They intentionally remove the audio of their bots. They will also spawn in random teams around you. I have tons of videos to prove they spawn in bots in the middle of your fights. That’s why third partying gets so out of hand sometimes
You also notice how on those no-audio teams you cant spectate after you die?? It instantly goes to the furthest team across the map. Not by any nearby teams.

The problem with this especially in master/ pred ranked also is that if you’re a player who is playing legitimately and consistently you could have a day that your team slays out and then the game puts you into a lobby ONLY against people players that 100% are using cheats or exploits with a fucking insane mmr making your que times crazy long because you are at the humanly possible bottom tier of what the standard for the top tier mmr has been set due to the cheating accounts.
HisWattson said it best, “this game isn’t designed to be fun, it’s designed to be ADDICTIVE” EA/Respawn don’t give a damn about how polished their game is, they only care about it being barely acceptable enough for you to open up your wallet.
It takes way longer now to get easier lobbies after consecutive losses. That’s a good thing for people intentionally trying to manipulate the system, but thats a bad thing for above average players that get stuck playing the top 3% of players. Players’ reward for improving should not be to exclusively play the highest MMR players, especially when its pubs and nothing is on the line.

I do think pubs is an important part of the game too, so the matchmaking of pubs is relevant. At the end of the game, you want to have casuals play the game and have fun. It is mindblowing that Respawn would make the first games after a long break a fun-experience and then throw you to harder games. People will stop playing the game, if they don't have fun. Playing in super sweaty pub games is no fun for anyone and that is why so many are leaving Apex. I used to hotdrop in earlier seasons, I would hotdrop a lot, have some awesome games, sometimes I would die off Spawn couple of times and feel the game getting easier. This has been changed, no matter how bad I play, and I have been having many bad games since I stopped grinding the game much, I still play against tripple or duo stacked multiple preds and masters. So the game is definitely making my lobbys very sweaty. And I think I am not the only one. To save the game, they need to change ranked MMR back to either playing against real Bronze players in Bronze or to award you a lot of points if you get thrown into a Masters Lobby because the game thinks that is where you belong. Same to pub games, just make the matchmaking random, as it used to be in old battlefield and cod days. Those were the most fun. People having fun will make them play the game and make them want to spend for it. That is what I did, when I had fun, I was happy to spend for the game. Now, not a penny, fix your game first, Respawn.

I travel for work and hadn't played Apex in 3 months maybe even more , I fire the game up and right off the bat I'm playing against idk who tf these kids are stacked up with all the badges. While spectating and seeing 90% hit on full auto weapons sometimes over 100 yards.
That wouldn't work imo, I have an alt account that I made when I was still under level 500.. played no fill only, and it didn't take long to put me in lobbies that were possibly even more stacked than on my main. I had probably a 0.5 kd on my main lol. And that's with only playing no fill on the alt.. best game before pred lobbies was only a 2.1k 2nd place game. The matchmaking is fucked
as someone who takes week long breaks from the game on a regular basis since this game wears me out while playing it: i cannot confirm this at all. i take 2 weeks off of this game and i get into the same ultra sweaty 100k kills triple stacks in pubs and ranked when i decide to hop on the game again
Wheres the mid season patch? According to the in game challenge tracker, we're at the last 2 weeks in the season. But obviously thats not true because theres at least 5 weeks left. So if theres 15 weeks this season, it shouldve came 3 weeks ago so where the hell is it? Is it just not coming?

2 seasons ago i played this game ervery day for couple of hours. Now even after not playing for several weeks because of the bad sbmm i still have lobbys with full master / preds. The whole system is not working.

I can attest to this. Did not play pubs for 4 days, got about three games with at most level 50’s. After getting a 16 kill game the very next one was multi pred champs

Dude I’m not shocked at all, I always thought it was weird that back in old apex days there always seemed to be some sort of twist or something felt off with my first game of almost every season as in I would almost ALWAYS win my first game of the season or I’d have a really good game. For the record I was aware of SBMM but I specifically remember back when Revenant dropped in season 4. I unlocked Rev and joined my first match. My teammates died and I won the game SOLO with 13 kills and I dropped my first ever 3k. I always felt as if there was some “compelling force” that made the game feel so much easier. But NOW it all makes SO MUCH sense.
The reason it's not changing is because IT WORKS. Unfortunately, the masses ARE addicted and DO spend the money. We all know EA is greedy, so why fix it if it's not broken, from their point of view? Until we start changing our patterns and behaviors as players, they're not going to change a thing. They care far less if we're having fun while playing and only that we're still playing...
I got into a few games the other morning, and for context, I have roughly 15k total kills. My very first game of the day, the champion was a pathfinder. 4k, 20 bomb pred., with 101,000 kills. My skill level is nowhere near theirs. Yet, I'm in the match with them.
Just as EA script the matches in Fifa to make the game addictive and abusive and make the players spend loads of money, thye also with respawn script the matches, Apex for casuals is literally an abusive experience, especially in Ranked.
They changed the EOMM for my account. Even after two weeks of not playing, thrown into Pred lobbies. Also, haven't had a bot lobby in over a year. I am not good enough to fight 3 stacks... and death after death... EA can keep the game. Absolutely loath it at this point.

While all the info provided being true, these “Pros” and “Streamers” play ALL THE TIME and still get bot lobbies tho..A glitch? Yeah right, they use NetDumas and VPNs to get easier lobbies consistently. Not like any of it matters anyway when they all literally use Scripts, Mods, Aimbot, and Zens/Titans.
I would say hit me with a rank whenever I finish playing for that game say b tier or a tier depending on how I play. And those ranks play into determining if I move up from gold to silver or master to pred. It doesn’t fix the ranked grind but maybe this way it feels more rewarding
The "don't play for a while or die quick a few times to get an easy match" just isn't true. I didn't play for 6 months then tried out this idea. I played five duos games last week and the worst player that killed me was a 6k kill Wraith. Best was a 35k kill Wraith. Every player on every team that killed me were masters players, minimum. I even took damage from a few preds. Whatever is going on with this game is incredibly off-putting. I uninstalled again after those five games. I hope they can balance it back out because this game as it is just isn't fun anymore. I don't mind playing against better players, obviously that's how you improve, but playing against players that are 5x better than me is just embarrassing.
As someone who’s only maxed at a 3,400 damage game, it bothers me that I go up against Conduits, Wraiths, Pathfinders, and Bangalores that get 4,000 damage games ALL DAY.
you can blame EA all you want but respawn devs are absolutely pathetic and so unprofessional. they always make these promises and never deliver, I remember teases about better servers,120 fps on console, 3 years of promises for cross play (in which the finals ALREADY released) even cross play took them like a year and a half. these are just off the top of my head, if this doesn't make it obvious respawn devs suck at their job I dont know what does. not to mention heirloom skins are insanity, Fortnite released skins you can both upgrade and customize with more than 3 tiers in season 5... they were on the battle pass lol
"lobby manipulation" has been a thing since people started creating FPS game content. When streamers log of for the night they pop into a few games and kill themselves a few times off drop, this lowers their MMR so they can get into these bot lobbies for content.
And I did get twice this season masters, 2 different accounts but its actually not play-able. To many cheaters and i play only against pro players or 3 stacks preds. i always wait till top 10 and then push. And when in my trials I go NA (I am fro EU) because NA preds are more like diamonds EU so I have some what (20%) fair matches to play. I shouldn't be in this high MMR, because am not really the best player.
I play Solo with random teammates in all of the modes of Apex games at least 8 out of the 10 times and it can be a bitch in relying too much on other players for their performance when I do tournaments with Z league since a year and a half ago. That was when I started reporting players and see a temporary relief of sweats coming into my online gameplay.....but it is for the moment at times.
What HisWattson says, makes absolutely sense, HisWattson was also the one who said Apex wants to make and keep it as addictive as possible so you dont stop playing, looking at this now, it makes sense.
Apex just loves semantics if you recall correctly this game didn't have aim assist when it came out it had "Target compensation" now they use Aim assist and anyone who knows game functionalities knows the difference between them.
I took it upon myself to document how many preds 20bombs or 10000+ kills player killed me this last week. 32 … that’s almost every other game I’m getting rolled by someone 10x better than me…im so done with this awful system. I don’t mind playing against people much better than me occasionally, but almost every other game? Hell no😴
Apex is literally the main reason I finally sold my PS5 and quit gaming for awhile, got into cars now but all that aside I really wished gaming cared about the solo player and not trying to milk you dry. Oh well 🤷🏾♂️ wish everyone the best if you still play.
I cant handle the strick SBMM in pubs. I only play for maybe 5 hours a week. Still get put with full 3 stacks and are getting very long queue times. Only have a 2.4kd

I have complained about SBMM giving me Pred lobbies in Bronze Silver and Gold for over 3 years, was banned on apex reddit because I kept bringing it up because I was tired of GRINDING in Bronze and Silver lobbies with Preds. Now everyone wants to make an issue of it? Bruh... it's too late... the game is dead. Stop kicking dead horses. The average person is not a 3 stack, and we have all hit that uninstall button out of frustration. APEX you will be missed... but good ridance.
You actually get put into these lobbies more often than you think (well at least in previous seasons) it’s just you have to be able to recognize it asap, have had dropped hot and survived it. Gotten 2 4Ks and each time its cause there was some brain dead baby stack running LL end game and you just have to farm the crap out of em and also not get 3rded. Also do not give a f about any teammates you have they will get you killed and steal your damage ong. Best of luck it took me 1 1/2😂😂😂

I used to watch lots of Apex guys and when they talked about bot lobbies I thought they were mocking how bad some of humans?! Perfect Dark was a Goldeneye clone. It even had some of the same levels and weapons. Perfect Dark had various multiplayer modes. In one you play against your buddies on the couch next to you. In another mode you could play alone or multiplayer against bots on various levels with various objectives on many maps. I knew I was playing bots...
I don't think it matters if you quit playing the game anymore for matchmaking. I quit the game for over 6 months because every lobby had preds and masters in it. Tried again today for 2 games, both games had preds and masters in it.
This match rating I’m talking about is just like the rating they give on liquipedia if a pro has a a good tournament they rate them s tier for that specific tourney. Sometimes you see b tier performance but their team won. It’s just an interesting stat… If they had a match rating like this in ranked it motivates you to play for s tier games rather than ONLY grinding points. To cap it off give me a globally visible average of my last 10 games. If I’m in good form it’s a tier or s tier. If I haven’t been doing well or haven’t been playing it drops to d tier. I’ve seen this work in League of Legends, so it’s not a crazy idea to try it
I haven’t played pubs in almost 2 months now bc I’ve been visiting family. I go back home on Thursday so I’m definitely gonna test out this theory. The simple truth is EOMM and SBMM just don’t belong in the casual pubs game mode. It’s a casual mode, there is no reason for stuff like that to exist. The only reason why it does is bc the shitty servers couldn’t handle connection based matchmaking and EA won’t get new ones that could handle it
I've come from 1-2 week breaks in the past few months and for me games were not easier. Still got killed by Masters in Silver lobbies. Before last MM change I was around 1.1 k:d, now I'm on 0.6-0.7. I'm just tired of being meat for Diamond+ players to boost their ego's. Game's MM is shit.
Queue for norms face 3 stack preds/masters despite having spent most of my time in the game at gold rank. Queue for mixtape? Shouldn't have done that. Que for ranked 'this game is going good' just for the team to be suddenly killed by a lvl 52 7 kill kill-leader with a lvl 1528 teammate whom are both in your first 'placement' good times good times. Always fun wanting to play an hour or so of apex in my day to face only people who put 8-16 hours a day into the game :)

Literally got pooped on by His Wattson in a pubs a few days ago. I can’t lie. All I play is pubs. It’s so much sweatier than ranked. Lots of ratting in KP drawing out in rank in. I get the same skill level in my pubs as Pred masters but the aggro plays go hard.

I swear to christ, it's just gonna be more of the same shit. They do this EVERY season. EA always disappoints, just gotta keep your expectations as low as possibly.
I don't think there is anything intrinsically wrong with EOMM/SBMM. The issue is with how aggressive it is. Even if a player is better than their "perceived" rank, I don't think that means shooting them up to top-tier lobbies. I think a better system would test high-performing gold player against platinum players. If the system notices that they keep crashing out, then drop them back to gold lobbies. If not, they'll keep playing plats until they're plat themselves. Once they hit plat, then the system can decide whether or not it moves them up to diamond or keeps them in plat lobbies.
Matchmaking is how it is so that there are always fodder teams that are mismatched for established teams to dominate, easily. The devs are pandering towards the top percentage of players. Making the general game experience for it's general playerbase BAD, in order to keep the top percentage of players from crying that they've got to fight teams of their own skill calibur. Instead, a solo quer like myself, has to be punished by 3 stack preds, just because I play the game a lot. I'm not a "professional". I don't make a living playing the job. My stats don't dictate that I'm AceU. You've basically got to exploit the system, make a smurf account, or fight qgainst the best players/teams in the game, whilst having some random low level teammates that disconnect immediately. I've been playing every season of this game, and it is the most toxic thing. It could be beautiful, but it's developers are nasty towards thier consumers. Any ither competitive FPS has a handle on their Matchmaking, the most FUNDAMENTAL ASPECT OF THE GAME. Yet, with all the hype and money that apex creates, it's still structured unfairly, to it's entire playerbase. I can't get a single match that feels "fair". All of my opponents have 60,000 kills on thier legend, 4k and 20bomb badges. I don't have a single legend with even 5,000 kills on them. How is that fair for anyone? It's garbage, but people play still because of their investments. Time, effort, money. The game's mechanics are why I keep coming back. But it's disgusting how they manipulate such broken ass system and force it onto us like we don't realize what's happening. Everyone's got q false narrative surrounding it, to protect thier ability to exploit the system in thier own favor. It makes me physically sick to think about how it's dtill going on, they're robbing us in briad daylight, and still get to play the hero.

I’m tired of constantly going up against 3 stack pred / masters as a solo queue player, if apex wants any chance at long term success they need to fix the SBMM situation (especially for solo players, apex has the worst solo experience out of any game I have played)
Facts solo que was always scuffed but its pretty much not playable the majority of the time now
Only ever solo queued and eventually was able to no fill consistently and felt proud of my improvements. But now SBMM makes soloing pure hell and feels like a goddamn job. Started play the finals the last 3 weeks and while I miss Apex I’m having fun again so until their is a genuine fix to matching-making Apex is on hold rn

I wouldn't be surprised honestly. If you think about it, some players open their wallet like nothing. If they keep getting easy lobbies and winning more games; i'm sure that contributes to those people spending even more money.

Oh it’s definitely the same as COD. Along with the influx of cheaters using Zens, Titans, XIMs on console and Aimbot w/ ESP on PC. There is definitely a “White-List” of players which just got exposed as well. They also using NetDumas and VPNs for bot lobbies too.
Ain’t no way I’m getting easier lobbies i dumped tons of cash in into this game, I’m 3x masters on Xbox 4k horizon my pubs matches are gladiator lobbies and my friends can’t even hang they get dumped on if i can’t clutch it. It’s bad bro makes me want to play another game because not everyone is top 3500 player bases consistently like me. So when they que up its 3 stacks on stacks feels like masters lobbies tbh half of the time.
My lobbies are so sweaty that i haven’t had a high dmg game in awhile every now and then i hit low 3000s but 4k nah man haven’t got one of those in a long time
With the SBMM it has completely turned me away from the game. I want to have fun but it seems impossible. Getting constantly stomped isn’t fun. When it’s a game like Dark souls for example I can get better at the game and I’m rewarded for my time and effort
As to where if you are trying to get better in apex it just keeps you in a perpetual state of losing against someone who was better than you. I rarely if ever fight against people lower skilled than me so when I’m getter better I’m never feeling that I am. That’s not fun.
When you are running on a treadmill at least there is some benefit to doing that it rewards you but the treadmill apex has you on doesn’t have any benefit at all. Just suffering…….

yeah man its bad, i just had a 25+ min queue in ranked just to end up with a lvl 30 and his console friend on my team getting almost 0 damage and no kills while i had 6 kills and 1400 dmg when we died to a triple pred team

I just spent a really long time finding the perfect sensitivity for my aim after switching to controller and it really does feel like aimbot to me, having dropped a 33k 6400dmg game last night in control with most of my LTM games being 20+ kills (i dont play ranked or pubs anymore). But im also not the type of person to call other people cheaters just for using controller because it still does take an immense amount of training to get consistent on it. I just put so much effort into getting good (playing since the first day of release) that I dont really want to just quit and lose my skill you know... even though the game literally is in its worse state rn.

So today I was completing the new weekly quests, just leaving dropship and leaving game. And holy shit guys, the number of people I saw do the same thing was mind boggling! And get this- most were 4k 20bomb masters/pred players. I saw their death boxes drop immediately from the sky, landed on a few, and saw their badges. These people are totally “glitching” their way into easier lobbies. It’s bullshit.
I ran a few games last night with a buddy of mine who plays on console, our first game in we ran into Trev with his 3 stack of preds and got demolished. The next game we ran into revengeful, non stop triple Pred badges the entire game. It was the worst night on Apex since i started playing.

I was that player tbh, until a few months ago, dropped the game after too many broken promises, and not fixing actual issues, and adding more layers to the detriment of solo queue players like trials fro rank, that really killed it for me as a regular high diamond solo player.

me and my friends tried out leaving all games and throwing them and after 100 -+ games we still went against pros or 3 times preds and its actually not fun because my 2 kd doesn't mean I am a multi masters/pred player. And I haven't touched pubs in 2 months, yes 2 months I only play ranked and I cameback and it was still the same only preds and pro's. The whole “no audio” thing is not a glitch. They intentionally remove the audio of their bots. They will also spawn in random teams around you. I have tons of videos to prove they spawn in bots in the middle of your fights. That’s why third partying gets so out of hand sometimes
You also notice how on those no-audio teams you cant spectate after you die?? It instantly goes to the furthest team across the map. Not by any nearby teams.

The problem with this especially in master/ pred ranked also is that if you’re a player who is playing legitimately and consistently you could have a day that your team slays out and then the game puts you into a lobby ONLY against people players that 100% are using cheats or exploits with a fucking insane mmr making your que times crazy long because you are at the humanly possible bottom tier of what the standard for the top tier mmr has been set due to the cheating accounts.

It takes way longer now to get easier lobbies after consecutive losses. That’s a good thing for people intentionally trying to manipulate the system, but thats a bad thing for above average players that get stuck playing the top 3% of players.
Players’ reward for improving should not be to exclusively play the highest MMR players, especially when its pubs and nothing is on the line.

I do think pubs is an important part of the game too, so the matchmaking of pubs is relevant. At the end of the game, you want to have casuals play the game and have fun. It is mindblowing that Respawn would make the first games after a long break a fun-experience and then throw you to harder games. People will stop playing the game, if they don't have fun. Playing in super sweaty pub games is no fun for anyone and that is why so many are leaving Apex.
I used to hotdrop in earlier seasons, I would hotdrop a lot, have some awesome games, sometimes I would die off Spawn couple of times and feel the game getting easier. This has been changed, no matter how bad I play, and I have been having many bad games since I stopped grinding the game much, I still play against tripple or duo stacked multiple preds and masters. So the game is definitely making my lobbys very sweaty. And I think I am not the only one.
To save the game, they need to change ranked MMR back to either playing against real Bronze players in Bronze or to award you a lot of points if you get thrown into a Masters Lobby because the game thinks that is where you belong. Same to pub games, just make the matchmaking random, as it used to be in old battlefield and cod days. Those were the most fun. People having fun will make them play the game and make them want to spend for it. That is what I did, when I had fun, I was happy to spend for the game. Now, not a penny, fix your game first, Respawn.

I travel for work and hadn't played Apex in 3 months maybe even more , I fire the game up and right off the bat I'm playing against idk who tf these kids are stacked up with all the badges. While spectating and seeing 90% hit on full auto weapons sometimes over 100 yards.

That wouldn't work imo, I have an alt account that I made when I was still under level 500.. played no fill only, and it didn't take long to put me in lobbies that were possibly even more stacked than on my main. I had probably a 0.5 kd on my main lol. And that's with only playing no fill on the alt.. best game before pred lobbies was only a 2.1k 2nd place game. The matchmaking is fucked

Dude I’m not shocked at all, I always thought it was weird that back in old apex days there always seemed to be some sort of twist or something felt off with my first game of almost every season as in I would almost ALWAYS win my first game of the season or I’d have a really good game. For the record I was aware of SBMM but I specifically remember back when Revenant dropped in season 4. I unlocked Rev and joined my first match. My teammates died and I won the game SOLO with 13 kills and I dropped my first ever 3k. I always felt as if there was some “compelling force” that made the game feel so much easier. But NOW it all makes SO MUCH sense.
The reason it's not changing is because IT WORKS. Unfortunately, the masses ARE addicted and DO spend the money. We all know EA is greedy, so why fix it if it's not broken, from their point of view? Until we start changing our patterns and behaviors as players, they're not going to change a thing. They care far less if we're having fun while playing and only that we're still playing...
I got into a few games the other morning, and for context, I have roughly 15k total kills. My very first game of the day, the champion was a pathfinder. 4k, 20 bomb pred., with 101,000 kills. My skill level is nowhere near theirs. Yet, I'm in the match with them.
Bot lobbies, configs, zen, rage hacks, radar and who knows what else. This game is so tainted lol
Just as EA script the matches in Fifa to make the game addictive and abusive and make the players spend loads of money, thye also with respawn script the matches, Apex for casuals is literally an abusive experience, especially in Ranked.

They changed the EOMM for my account. Even after two weeks of not playing, thrown into Pred lobbies. Also, haven't had a bot lobby in over a year. I am not good enough to fight 3 stacks... and death after death... EA can keep the game. Absolutely loath it at this point.

I would say hit me with a rank whenever I finish playing for that game say b tier or a tier depending on how I play. And those ranks play into determining if I move up from gold to silver or master to pred. It doesn’t fix the ranked grind but maybe this way it feels more rewarding
The "don't play for a while or die quick a few times to get an easy match" just isn't true. I didn't play for 6 months then tried out this idea. I played five duos games last week and the worst player that killed me was a 6k kill Wraith. Best was a 35k kill Wraith. Every player on every team that killed me were masters players, minimum. I even took damage from a few preds.
Whatever is going on with this game is incredibly off-putting. I uninstalled again after those five games. I hope they can balance it back out because this game as it is just isn't fun anymore. I don't mind playing against better players, obviously that's how you improve, but playing against players that are 5x better than me is just embarrassing.
As someone who’s only maxed at a 3,400 damage game, it bothers me that I go up against Conduits, Wraiths, Pathfinders, and Bangalores that get 4,000 damage games ALL DAY.
you can blame EA all you want but respawn devs are absolutely pathetic and so unprofessional. they always make these promises and never deliver, I remember teases about better servers,120 fps on console, 3 years of promises for cross play (in which the finals ALREADY released) even cross play took them like a year and a half. these are just off the top of my head, if this doesn't make it obvious respawn devs suck at their job I dont know what does. not to mention heirloom skins are insanity, Fortnite released skins you can both upgrade and customize with more than 3 tiers in season 5... they were on the battle pass lol

"lobby manipulation" has been a thing since people started creating FPS game content. When streamers log of for the night they pop into a few games and kill themselves a few times off drop, this lowers their MMR so they can get into these bot lobbies for content.
And I did get twice this season masters, 2 different accounts but its actually not play-able. To many cheaters and i play only against pro players or 3 stacks preds. i always wait till top 10 and then push. And when in my trials I go NA (I am fro EU) because NA preds are more like diamonds EU so I have some what (20%) fair matches to play. I shouldn't be in this high MMR, because am not really the best player.
I play Solo with random teammates in all of the modes of Apex games at least 8 out of the 10 times and it can be a bitch in relying too much on other players for their performance when I do tournaments with Z league since a year and a half ago. That was when I started reporting players and see a temporary relief of sweats coming into my online gameplay.....but it is for the moment at times.
The match making is by far the worst thing about this game rn.
What HisWattson says, makes absolutely sense, HisWattson was also the one who said Apex wants to make and keep it as addictive as possible so you dont stop playing, looking at this now, it makes sense.
Apex just loves semantics if you recall correctly this game didn't have aim assist when it came out it had "Target compensation" now they use Aim assist and anyone who knows game functionalities knows the difference between them.

I have complained about SBMM giving me Pred lobbies in Bronze Silver and Gold for over 3 years, was banned on apex reddit because I kept bringing it up because I was tired of GRINDING in Bronze and Silver lobbies with Preds. Now everyone wants to make an issue of it? Bruh... it's too late... the game is dead. Stop kicking dead horses. You actually get put into these lobbies more often than you think (well at least in previous seasons) it’s just you have to be able to recognize it asap, have had dropped hot and survived it. Gotten 2 4Ks and each time its cause there was some brain dead baby stack running LL end game and you just have to farm the crap out of em and also not get 3rded. Also do not give a f about any teammates you have they will get you killed and steal your damage ong. Best of luck it took me 1 1/2😂😂😂

Perfect Dark was a Goldeneye clone. It even had some of the same levels and weapons. Perfect Dark had various multiplayer modes. In one you play against your buddies on the couch next to you. In another mode you could play alone or multiplayer against bots on various levels with various objectives on many maps.

I don't think it matters if you quit playing the game anymore for matchmaking. I quit the game for over 6 months because every lobby had preds and masters in it. Tried again today for 2 games, both games had preds and masters in it.
I won't play apex for a week to 2 weeks and my lobbies will still be master pred 3 stacks
This match rating I’m talking about is just like the rating they give on liquipedia if a pro has a a good tournament they rate them s tier for that specific tourney. Sometimes you see b tier performance but their team won. It’s just an interesting stat… If they had a match rating like this in ranked it motivates you to play for s tier games rather than ONLY grinding points. To cap it off give me a globally visible average of my last 10 games. If I’m in good form it’s a tier or s tier. If I haven’t been doing well or haven’t been playing it drops to d tier. I’ve seen this work in League of Legends, so it’s not a crazy idea to try it
I haven’t played pubs in almost 2 months now bc I’ve been visiting family. I go back home on Thursday so I’m definitely gonna test out this theory. The simple truth is EOMM and SBMM just don’t belong in the casual pubs game mode. It’s a casual mode, there is no reason for stuff like that to exist. The only reason why it does is bc the shitty servers couldn’t handle connection based matchmaking and EA won’t get new ones that could handle it

I've come from 1-2 week breaks in the past few months and for me games were not easier. Still got killed by Masters in Silver lobbies. Before last MM change I was around 1.1 k:d, now I'm on 0.6-0.7. I'm just tired of being meat for Diamond+ players to boost their ego's. Game's MM is shit.
Queue for norms face 3 stack preds/masters despite having spent most of my time in the game at gold rank. Queue for mixtape? Shouldn't have done that. Que for ranked 'this game is going good' just for the team to be suddenly killed by a lvl 52 7 kill kill-leader with a lvl 1528 teammate whom are both in your first 'placement' good times good times. Always fun wanting to play an hour or so of apex in my day to face only people who put 8-16 hours a day into the game :)

I took a 6 month break and first game on i went against a 3 stack and one of em was a 139k kill lifeline

This game has a horrid ecosystem. Everything is bad. Didn’t know that was possible.
Literally got pooped on by His Wattson in a pubs a few days ago. I can’t lie. All I play is pubs. It’s so much sweatier than ranked. Lots of ratting in KP drawing out in rank in. I get the same skill level in my pubs as Pred masters but the aggro plays go hard.
They are trying to make games have the feel of gambling but it doesn’t work

I swear to christ, it's just gonna be more of the same shit. They do this EVERY season. EA always disappoints, just gotta keep your expectations as low as possibly.
I don't think there is anything intrinsically wrong with EOMM/SBMM. The issue is with how aggressive it is. Even if a player is better than their "perceived" rank, I don't think that means shooting them up to top-tier lobbies. I think a better system would test high-performing gold player against platinum players. If the system notices that they keep crashing out, then drop them back to gold lobbies. If not, they'll keep playing plats until they're plat themselves. Once they hit plat, then the system can decide whether or not it moves them up to diamond or keeps them in plat lobbies.
Matchmaking is how it is so that there are always fodder teams that are mismatched for established teams to dominate, easily.
The devs are pandering towards the top percentage of players.
Making the general game experience for it's general playerbase BAD, in order to keep the top percentage of players from crying that they've got to fight teams of their own skill calibur.
Instead, a solo quer like myself, has to be punished by 3 stack preds, just because I play the game a lot.

You've basically got to exploit the system, make a smurf account, or fight qgainst the best players/teams in the game, whilst having some random low level teammates that disconnect immediately.
I've been playing every season of this game, and it is the most toxic thing. It could be beautiful, but it's developers are nasty towards thier consumers.
Any ither competitive FPS has a handle on their Matchmaking, the most FUNDAMENTAL ASPECT OF THE GAME.
Yet, with all the hype and money that apex creates, it's still structured unfairly, to it's entire playerbase.
I can't get a single match that feels "fair".
All of my opponents have 60,000 kills on thier legend, 4k and 20bomb badges.
I don't have a single legend with even 5,000 kills on them. How is that fair for anyone? It's garbage, but people play still because of their investments. Time, effort, money. The game's mechanics are why I keep coming back. But it's disgusting how they manipulate such broken ass system and force it onto us like we don't realize what's happening.
Everyone's got q false narrative surrounding it, to protect thier ability to exploit the system in thier own favor.
It makes me physically sick to think about how it's dtill going on, they're robbing us in briad daylight, and still get to play the hero.
