- Luke (Lucas Black) is a young golfer who's about to take a swing at the big time until he has a meltdown that makes national news and scuttles his once-promising career. While driving through Texas, Luke crashes through the fence of rancher Johnny Crawford (Robert Duvall). Johnny makes him an irresistible offer: spend a week with him in the tiny town of Utopia and see if Luke can change his life.

From Boo Radley to Johnny Crawford, it's been an honor for me to witness Robert Duvall in movies from the 60's to present. I know of no other actor who genuinely portrays a fictional character so magnificently. For me it's almost as if his on-screen magic captures, transforms, and surrenders me into his character...Mr. Duvall you are truly gifted and are loved by God and by many...Thank you for what you do and for who you are.

You're a poet son. Yes, Mr Duvall is one of the very few immortals of the industry- few would remember Boo, he deserved an Oscar for that role alone. He one of the few seemingly untouched by the trappings and corruption of the big screen system.

Superb definition of blind faith, trust , good relationships, character and integrity. He saw he had already won, he was already victorious because found Gid inside himself. Interestingly enough, I was curious to see your first film role and it turns out to be " Boo " Ridley in 1962. Although I have watched the Movie as a child in the 60's, I just recently finished reading - for the first time - To Kill a Mockingbird; $. 50 library book sale. Today, instead of people being induced by a holographic Jesus, we now have RUclips & Facebook ( Not Me ). I suppose it was this Sci Fi Movie. Thx for the movie all who made it possible. Brought back a memory of a friend who had AIDS. It was getting late in her life and she knew it and the one thing she had on her bucket list was to personally see the PGA golf tournament. She did, and I might add 2 more before she passed away. She was a great gal, and now I have an advantage to think about her a bit more often. Sincerely at 78 years old, I remain Sentebey.

Wow, so incredibly beautiful. I can’t believe I never new about this movie. So inspiring, especially when look in to story be hind it. As I watched “not knowing anything about it” I was shocked at how opposite to usual hollywood narrative it was. I was so blessed. I really felt the anointing on, lots of tears. Who will ever forget Robert Duvall's magnificent performance as Gus in the wonderful "Lonesome Dove"?? I have watched that movie at least six times just to be able to see Gus one more time. "Tender Mercies" is another one of his unforgettable performances I have watched over and over. The man can truly act.

The movie is corny. Check out the karate kid. It is about the same punch line. I would have quit on this movie if Duvall hadn’t been in it.

Robert Duvall & Lucas Black also played in a movie called "Get Low" Duvall`s character name Johnny Crawford R.I.P played on The Rifleman as Lucas`s son. And Can`t Lucas Black drive a car without crashing it, Tokyo Drift. Both of these men are top notched actors. If you think this movie is about golf you need to watch it again. God Bless

I need to start playing golf again. His rage looked very cathartic, honest. cleansing, ACE.... They shut down all the Public golf courses around Dayton Ohio during the Plandemic violent attack and shame muzzling years.
I passed this movie atleast a 100 times not because I didn't think it would be good movie because lately I've been watching Christian movies and staying away from anything that I deem as worldly.
Tonight I am in alot of pain and I've been fighting this spinal nerve pain for over 28 years.
We have such a loving God and Father who loves us nomatter where we are in life and at almost 54 years old I'm searching for a better relationship with God the Father and He never ceases to amaze me with His unwavering love and His willingness to make a place for me.
This movie was filled with hope, love, redemption and forgiveness and most of all it centered not just on the game of life but what really matters most in the end is our integrity, our willingness to learn and the ability to forgive ourselves and those we need too and building upon our relationships and never forget that this time on earth is just a vapor and eternity is neverending.
