- On this channel I show you real people who lived on our planet many years ago. For fans of Anthropology and History. Today I'm going to tell you about....
In 1921, a Danish farmer decided to dig up a burial mound, but came across a coffin made from a hollowed-out oak trunk. Inside the coffin were the remains of a girl about 18 years old. Much organic matter was preserved, but little remained of the skeleton. Hair, teeth, fingernails, some skin were well preserved.
The girl was slim, 160 centimetres tall, with short blonde hair and well-groomed fingernails. The girl was wrapped in an ox skin and a wool blanket. At her feet lay the remains of a cremated child, about 5 years old, in a knot of cloth.
Of particular interest was a perfectly preserved outfit. It was a short blouse with sleeves up to the elbow and a short sheepskin skirt. The girl was also adorned with bronze bracelets and a woollen belt with a large bronze disc and earring. Beside her head lay a birch bark box with an awl, bronze pins and a hair net, as well as a bucket of leftover beer, from wheat, honey and lingonberries. Наука

@@brunobastos5533 your very possibly correct. I got alot of these stories pop up after I commented on this. Thru prehistory females were buried tho it seems that males are found most. You will find if you look that many females were buried with weapons or with containers of food and drink but a few are similar to this one. The way she is laid out with such care. Her husband or father was well off for the day. But if you look at some of the others you can see a pattern. Some that are richer in gold just look as if these things were just thrown in with the body. One's less well off look like this one, laid out with care for their journey. Maybe I'm just seeing things. But it seems that if you look closely you can get a idea of how this person was thought of! But who knows. The more these intellectuals dig the less they know.

Yes, I would like to know. An Arsenio Hall, one of those things that makes you go hmm.
They have found out she had her origin in germany
It was her child
Still debated actually, Strontium tests have revealed indications of her being a native to Jutland and other tests have shown slightly different results so now they changed the signs in our national Museum and the scientists are deadlocked in their debates
There was no border between Germany and Denmark back then, and likely the same people lived in both places -- at least northern Germany would have been similar to Denmark.
Germanic tribes are ancestors of Scandinavians Germans Dutch Belgians French English Austrians Swiss
probably all of us on Here are related ,there wasn't that many people back then. my ancestors come from scottland Norway and Sweden and germany
I love how they illustrated her with zero body hair and depilated brows posing as she was a video game character. There must be a gamer behind the recreation of her existence.
It was probably ai art or a younger 20 something artist who like fantasy novels/movies/games.
And her chest was ridiculously large. Gamer, graphics nerd, fanboy did the illustration. Based on no skeletal remains. 😮
She must have been something very special when alive to have received such an elaborate burial. At 18, I assume she could be someone's wife, but probably not the mother of the five year old that was interred with her. Big sister, maybe? Or perhaps it was her parents that buried her in such a grand fashion. Regardless, what a wonderful way to honor her life than to place her as they did. They could not have known that we would be learning about their culture 3000 years later, but I'll bet they would be surprised to learn that so much of her lifestyle survived the millennia.
when a important person died in scandinavia back then they would sometimes kill there servants also and bury them beacause they thought they would continue to serv them in the afterlife.

I doubt she looked that good in life even for today’s standards. Regardless if she was well taken care of and was well groomed and had a good diet the lack of proper hygiene and medicine and other that didn’t exist back then that do today probably meant she didn’t look in any way like the attractive woman who they’re trying to portray her as. She probably looked very good to people 3,000 years ago but compared to what we have access to today she in no way could’ve pulled off such a look.
@@SonOfABithYou're talking about modern hygeine and medicine in a kinda skewed way... Amazing reconstruction. Living now is sad but looking at their lives then was sadder. My daughter is about the same size (5’2”) and just turned 18 in March.
What even
I understand what you're saying. They routinely dealt with what we consider an uncommon and horrific happening....the deaths of their very young. They didn't even see it as a reason to come unhinged. Patents would bury as many as half their children of age 18 or less. Most people that survived pastvthe age of 12 could expect to bury their parents before reaching age 20. The deaths of snall children and infants was commin place. They couldn't become wrecks. They STILL had to keep going, or society would just utterly fail....as itvis now. Hardship was the expected norm....and not sone uncommon thing, that would knock people out of their nice, comfy little lives.
What so you done so sad about the lives back then? Is rather liy then than today ANYTIME.
I mean to comparing their lives to our today and call their lives sad is just silly. They knew what they knew and that is what the had, nothing more. They lived their lives, toiled hard to survive and that was it, day in and day out. They didn't know any different! Nothing sad about that in the perspective of what they had and knew. People back then are just like we are today, our knowledge is built from one generation to the next and those people back in our history are no dumber than we are today. You could take one in a time machine form 3k years ago and other than total shock, they would be able to communicate, work, live, and learn just as we do today without any difficulties.

The US is full of them, they've plowed right through them and built buildings on them since the first colonies settled. They survived by grave robbing and stealing from native camps so it makes sense
There are probably laws and historical societies that lobby for said laws.
All of these people have been found during excavations or in the past when archology was done by some wealthy donor or during peat digging in the boggs or back when farmers removed the hills to make room for their crops..

What was the significance of the large bronze disk??
Well groomed, clean nice nails ? She must have been important. Died very young, sad
The average life expectancy of a woman back then was under 30, with women living past that age considered exceptional. Making it to menopause considered extremely exceptional to the point the woman would be feared. So she would then either be highly ranked in her society as a priestess or revered wise advisor, or everyone would be terrified of her as a witch.
This girl was obviously highly placed in her community. Likely a rare beauty and her passing was seen as a great loss to her community.. That's a lot of care, respect and love that she was sent to the afterlife with. The childs remains are heart breaking.. But child mortality was extremely high back then as well.
My guess is it was her child, and a cremation was done and the remains kept so she could keep her child near, then both interred together to be with each other.

Long before the ancient Vikings came along so she’s not of Viking descent. She’s of mixed descent of many different early nomadic Germanic and indo European tribes. She was probably of nomadic ancestry and was probably constantly on the move. Her ancient ancestors were most certainly hunting mammoths thousands of years before her.
@@SonOfABith this is Nordic bronze age, they where farmers, the Mammoths had long been gone, for thousands of years.

@@ulrichkristensen4087 I said her ancestors not her. I said early nomadic Germanic and the Proto-Indo-European tribes. Those ancestors would’ve been hunting mammoths. The land she was living on was probably the hunting grounds her forefathers were using a thousand years before. And it was a little before the Bronze Age. Not exactly the Bronze Age just yet. Don’t believe everything you read on Wikipedia, dates on there fluctuate so much it’s hard to pinpoint exactly what they claim the Bronze Age officially begins. Just because the year 3,000 BC or BCE hits doesn’t automatically mean everyone in the world suddenly stops being nomads and settles down to establish villages and build farms. The early bronze in other parts of the world were still living a largely Stone Age nomadic lifestyle being constantly on the move. Much of the primitive Nordic peoples were still living a nomadic lifestyle. Going from place to place, which explains why they say she’s been many places. In some places the age of Bronze had begun but it hadn’t yet in the Nordic areas. It was still very much the late stone ages there.
