    Since the entire putter moves during the stroke, I tend to think it’s not anchoring in the truest sense of the word. The belly putters clearly were fixed to a specific point on the body, and this doesn’t seem to have that same advantage, in my opinion. If it made putting that much easier most of the pros would be using it, but they’re not. It’s just a handful of guys that have lost their way with the conventional putter. At the end of the day, there are much greater injustices going on in the world, so I’m going to stop worrying about it.

      i agree but i think it’s more of a feel thing, when i switched to an armlock the extra weight and length makes it feel like you can really put the head right where i need it, probably a person to person thing tho

    I notice your grip is still down the shaft handle similar to a normal putter and to many golfers (especially older golfers), we like to stand more upright and view the line of the ball using the longer shaft and maybe even a more open stance (which I now use to look down the line). I've now tried a broom stick which moved all over the place while holding both the top and bottom of the club, but now I've tried gripping it lower and it seems more balanced. By the way, very hard to blame the putter when you don't read the lie of the greens properly, which many golfers suffer from. I'm going to try an arm lock hoping it will be "just right." 'Thanks for your review :)

    I’ve gamed the odyssey 2 ball arm lock and the SIK. The SIK feels like it was made to be an arm lock, the odyssey feels like a regular 2 ball with a longer shaft. It wasn’t as up right, you could see the heel way off the ground and it felt like you had to forward press way more. The SIK feels more natural, sits more upright and it doesn’t feel like you need to forward press as much. My speed and putting have improved immensely since I switched to the SIK. A huge improvement for me over regular sized putters and the odyssey arm lock.

    would be keen to try one, the only issue is price and getting your hands on one to try out.
    I think in the next 12 months i would like to get a full putter fitting to really see what is appropriate for me.

    If you think it’s “cheating” you’re crazy…. Funny thing is the pros get books for the greens that tells them the breaks now that’s cheating 🤣

    Nice review ! You looked very natural with both . I think / would feel the armlock may be the better on 6 ft and less with practice - more steady & and to stroke it with less or no hands to cause face rotation . Just going to give it a tryout . Going to convert a standard putter by extending it and using an Arm-Lock grip for loft adjustment . The Lie angle seems important for a proper, comfortable fit & stroke . Not planning to bend the standard putter . Cheers from Lakewood, Colorado USA !

    If you have the tips, take the index finger and middle finger off the putter shaft in your grip. This is what causes the yups, the two fingers on your right hand, for a right handed golfer.

    Curious, I’ve been left hand low for about a decade…does that setup work with an armlock? I’ve been wanting to find something that can calm my yips in the 3-7 foot range…I’m a 7 handicap and feel like I’d be about a 2-3 with more confidence with the flat stick

    • @canyonaro
      @canyonaro 3 года назад +1

      I haven't been a left hand low player but in trying out arm lock, I find left hand low to feel more natural. If you watch Jordan Speith putt, he basically creates an arm lock position by pressing his putter into his wrist with his right hand. Definitely worth giving it a try.

    Don't quite get those who claim it to be illegal. It doesn't currently break any rules in golf (as used properly and not put above the elbow), and if you feel it provides an advantage then why wouldn't you want to use one.

    I don’t feel like that is cheating. I’m totally against these long putters that you can anchor to your chest. I’m glad they changed that rule. But when you are just resting it on your arm, you still have to make a putting movement and the top of the putter shaft moves. I personally don’t use an armlock putter, but I don’t have issue with it.

  • @zacharymilos392
    @zacharymilos392 3 года назад

    I don't see it as cheating bc the butt of the grip still moves in a path with the rest of the putter. Belly anchoring is different bc the butt of grip doesn't move relative to the head. I'm considering giving it a go myself

    I had a broomhandle when I deve!oped the yips! I stopped when the anchoring rule came in! I went to a Boccieri heavy putter then back to a normal Scotty mallet. Touch wood, yips free! Armlock is quite definitely anchored so, YES, it should be banned!

  • @itshadouken

    Rangefinders and green diagrams are 100% cheating. This is just a form change, you still have only your body and the stick to put with. I’d like to see all rangefinders removed from golf. Part of the game used to be using your eyes to determine distance, now it’s just a spreadsheet.

  • @ndmagic99

    It’s clearly not anchoring. Your forearm moves up to a foot during the swing. So there is no fixed point.

      I agree. Plus they say forearm but that's not true. The reason it's anchoring is because it goes to the upper arm. If it was forearm only than it may pass because of the hinge at the elbow.
