i'm a lazy builder i just took over a village after killing every1 the base comfort was 23 very high and only took about a half hour of clean up to make it look nice and not a pile of rubble...
I love how this game lets you do that. I love building but I know a lot of people dont want to spend 10 hours of their gameplay making a suitable base so yeah pretty fuggin cool
Few tips after playing around with the building system for a while : 1. Don't use foundations they're a waste of resources. The building system in Enshrouded doesn't rely on support structure mechanics like Valheim so you can just create floors really close to the ground, which look just like foundations but require like 1/10th the resources. 2. When playing around with the single block placement, if you accidentally remove some blocks that you didn't want to remove, you can overlap it with a wall or floor or roof (any of the prefab structures) and place them down, and it will fix the whole thing but only use the same number of resources as the missing blocks. Really handy since positioning the cursor for a single block placement is janky at times. 3. If you want to dig out an area but don't care about getting the dirt/stone you would from digging manually, you can place a foundation or clip a floor into the ground and delete it. Instant level floor.
For some reason my dumb brain did not register the building hammer, so I build an entire base with those loose wooden blocks. Took me 6 hours before I selected the hammer by accident and had a quadruppel facepalm.
Same here, lol! I didn't figure it out until my friend asked me what the heck I was doing when I started building a new house block by block on his game. Mind blown. 😅
Having 1000+ hours in Valheim, mostly building, I always thought the availability of more building pieces in that game would make my building more rewarding but I am almost overwhelmed by the amount of building items available in Enshrouded from the very beginning. Also, I am finding it hard to construct a smaller scale structures without just using the individual blocks and as relayed in this video, snapping in janky as F. Coming from a game I knew inside/out to being completely clueless, knowing that for any task I complete, there was probably a much faster and easier way to do it has been frustrating at times but all that being said, I am enjoying my Enshrouded experience! Thanks for taking the time to create this guide for us.
Near queens tomb across from entrance is a small mountain with an amazing flat spot to build and then below the mountain down the road from queen tombs entrance is a flat plains area to build as well somewhat center of the map great location
I genuinely wish Valheim made use of an "AI" NPC mechanic they way enshrouded does. It would make that game infinitely more fun as a solo player and also give more life to your builds/settlements.
I see you didn't mention or make use of 2 button combos when building. 1 you can hold Q and scroll the mouse wheel to move the placements in and out from you and 2 same with R and mouse wheel to rotate to different degrees..
I thought I was going to hate the base building, as when you first start all you get to use is the little blocks. Of course that all changes once you get your first NPC in base.
yeah.. so I just started this game, and the fact that everything is so similar yet so different to valheilm is really annoying. We have to build with a hammer .. but the building mechanics are wildly different. I'm at the place I put my first flame thing. And while trying to build I constantly end up terraforming and removing pieces of the ground. But I'm not sure how to reverse or fill them in. And if me terraforming the ground creates needless performance issues. (like in valheilm I heard if you even the ground too much every press counts as a block/item but I didn't notice too much performance issues in my giant base in that game. This game is more demanding though so I'm trying to save all my performance for buildings)
Does anyone know how to zoom in/out with a controller when I am building without going to the settings menu? It's Z on the keyboard. Can I even do it with a controller?
No, not at the moment. Other than continuing to raise your comfort there is no real reason to improve your base at this time other than for your own satisfaction. Im sure they will change it at some point though and your base will be attacked.
I very highly doubt your base will ever get attacked. It’s a key feature that your flame shrine disallows monster spawns within the building grid. With the building being the way it is, I don’t see them ever changing this design.

Thumbs down. Stop with the fast forward speed. Patient is a virtue, learn it! I wish i could give it more than one thumbs down!

I build foundations for aesthetic reasons. I am not treating this game as a new Valheim, it's new Portal Knights.
Just use the "regret button" to regret the block you accidentally remove, which is Y bitton (keybpard

😂😂😂 I've had these moments they hurt bad
Lol I did the same exact thing and then spent like an hour taking it all back down afterwards
hahahahaha omg, wish I saw your face there

Some of the best building I've used since Minecraft. It's excellent. Moon bases on the top of mountains are awesome too!
Fast travel + no encumbrance = builder's dream.
+ no hunger thirst meter = one of the best survival games I've played.
Wow. Incredibly artistic. I wish my brain/imagination would build this way. I always try but it comes out blocky. Fantastic village.

Enshrouded looks great, will definitely check it out some day when the survival itch hits me again.

“If you’re getting tired too early performing tasks, get more rest”. Just thought that was kind of funny

It's because he's an idiot 🤷♂️

I can’t tell what you placed at the top of your chimney, it looks good. Slowing the video down it looks like a tar shingle? Is that correct?
While I am still not a fan of the style, I had underestimated the system's flexibility.
Finally a game that refund material so you don’t gotta do it all over again or horde it up just to ruin it
Coughs* Valheim

I can't wait to try this game... just looking for some free time lol
Same
Is there a sandbox building mode? I'd really only have interest in building, all I ever did in ARK too lol
I need it on PS5 ... hopefully soon.
Laughs in pc

Can you build a tavern?
You can

I did trap sheep inside my walls, but they disappear when you log off.

You can also take over existing buildings in the world, some of which are pretty cool and large in size.

@danielramin6734 could do a 7 days to die type raid. Remember the bridge was getting attacked every night till they blew it up in the lore
