it's insane that interns don't get (at all) compensated. Like WTF. How in the world should excellent students from unindustrialized countries apply?
Get a sponsorship or loan. Its unfortunate but its a competitive program so i suppose thats how they reduce the number of applications.
@@shenaerobinson3822 I can, but I am a white guy from Germany. Good luck however if you are a talented young student from Ghana.
@@moritzklug1858 well you can always do an internship locally. There are un organizations in every country, volunteer or apply there first.
The international ones are competitive enough that they dont need to cater to the interns because people will apply anyway.
I am from Germany too and have lived twice in the US, exchange student and internship in a company. Not Everyone in life is like a typical German, my house, my car..., some people invest their money rather in education and working experience abroad, I know most Germans can not understand.
@@simoneweisenburger2956 I dont think in those terms. And again. Yes, western's can afford to do internships like this. Yes we can get student loans etc. But again, the UN should not only be for "rich" countries. It is the UNITED Nations and not the EU or the US. If you live in Lesotho, good luck getting a student loan so that you can do an UN-Internship somewhere (locally or in the US)

To stand a chance of getting an internship do you need to speak an additional language aside from English is it even worth applying if you don’t?

Hi AnnaMae! I found your video very educational. I have one question. I've applied to 4 internship positions at the UN so far and all of them are still pending after 4 months. I wanted to know how long they took to reply to you. And, do they inform someone if they are not accepted or do they just leave it at "application acknowledged"? Thank you again!

@@unemploymentdiaries3391 it depends. If they need an intern immediately, they get back to you in a month. Otherwise, it is usually 3-5 months. Lot of waiting time

Is UN Internships only available in America ? And can a Bsc or BTech student can have UN Internship?
There are internships available at UN sites around the world! If you use their job search page you can filter it by location.

No in UN mostly interns didn't get payment during their internship period.
