We know that there are people in church that are not true followers of Christ. I believe scripture refers to them as tares among wheat. But apostasy refers to those who were a part of the church that leave it. That causes a conundrum in my mind. If that is referring to people that never put their faith in Christ, how can they be called a part of the body?
Based on that plus all the warnings to believers to be alert and to remain in the faith it would seem that a believer can walk away from the faith. We are secure in our salvation in that no one can take it from us but we still have the freedom to walk away
I'm praying for the prodigals that have left the Father to come home 🙏❤️

The apostasy has been running rampant. Especially more so since we are closer to the end of all things. Every denomination preaches false doctrine not to mention the other religions out there like Islam. Gods elect have been given ears to hear Gods truth. God will confirm his elect to the imagine(likeness) of Christ by putting us through fire to burn out self or what is called sin. I’m 50 yrs old and just now learning what a real relationship with Jesus looks like. I “prayed the prayer” in my 20’s and it was very profound but I absolutely didn’t know what to do after and I wish someone had seen how lost I was because I didn’t know that I had no idea what I was doing and I needed guidance. There was no internet back then so it’s nice to read my bible and watch you tube. I’ve tried to restart so many times and this time feels very different I’ve never been able to read and understand the Bible and I’m actually understanding everything I’m reading. I repent everyday and ask God for his forgiveness of my sins and I’m so grateful for Jesus Christ who died for me. I still have A LOT of questions but I ask God for discernment. It’s not going to happen over night and I know that but I’m so eager to learn and be able to quote scripture as I don’t know any by memory right now. I don’t even know how to pray but I do the best I can. I love Him so much and I know He sees my heart. I hope y’all have a blessed day ❤

It was the same for me after I accepted Christ when I was young. I started to rebel against my parents and God until I was in my early 40's. After going through a long depression, the only person that would talk to me is a pastor. After that day, I truly gave my life to Christ. I never knew that Jesus waited for me for all those years, even through my rebellion. The best thing you can do, is get planted in a really good bible teaching church. Take your bible and read along with the pastor out of your own bible. Pray for discernment before the sermon, and let the Holy Spirit take control. Oh, and to help with understanding the bible better, get a study bible. When I read one of the books, (ie - Matthew), I will read it first for the story, then I read it again for the lessons, then read it several times after for key things throughout the book. This will help you a lot. Stay strong and keep fighting the good fight. I will keep you in my prayer. God Bless

Hi Stacey, that is a remarkable change that has begun in your life, when you wrote of not having anyone to assist you at the start of your walk with Christ, is such a sad thing and grieves my heart so much, and the truth is that this has become so normal, yet its not the gospel Jesus taught, he said to make disciples, even RUclips cannot make disciples, this is the call of the church, and for this reason Paul spoke about the five fold ministry, the Apostles, Prophet's, Pastor's, Teacher's, and Evangelists, have been put in the church for the perfecting of the saints, many are accountable for what was not done with those God has brought into the church. I can relate with your words, as from the time of being born again, God has since then done a work in my life in such a way, that now I have the honour and privilege to disciple others, and the result has been so rewarding.... And it seems that by what you have said, that God has sovereignly moved on your life, which is so amazing!!

You need to ask where did the bible come from and prior to its existence how did the first Christians practice their faith. I remember a Baptist Pastor asking another Pastor on how to interpret a certain passage. They both differed. So they consulted a senior Pastor , who told them that they were both wrong and he was the one who was right , which they didnt agree. This prompted the1st Pastor to search on who has the authority to interpret the Bible inerrantly. Also, a client of mind who has a short hair was visited by a neighbor who has a waist long hair. Each of them said that their Pastor told them on what the Bible says about haircut. Theyre both Pentecostals with different Pastor. One Pastor said to cut women hair . The other said never to cut women’s hair. They both based it on a Bible passage, according to them.

Thank you for sharing this scripture. I have been pastoring for over 40 years. I have witnessed people coming to Jesus in true repentance. Their life was radically changed by the spirit of God. It saddens my heart to say that some of these born again saints, after years of serving God returned to their previous life. If you look at the way they live now there is not a trace of Jesus Christ in their life. When you are saved you don’t lose your free will. As you chose to accept Christ as your Lord and Savior. Later on in the journey you can choose to opt out. You never lose your free will. The misguided teaching that offers reassurance of salvation to church members who willfully, deliberately, and continually sin is false

    • @MaximumDan
      @MaximumDan 7 месяцев назад

This scripture once again is misinterpreted because of what the vast majority of us have been taught to believe by false teachers. The verse explicitly states that those who overcome are clothed in white; he will NOT blot their name out of the book of life.
“He who overcomes shall be clothed in white garments, and I will not blot out his name from the Book of Life; but I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels.”
      ‭‭Revelation‬ ‭3‬:‭5‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
Now the “Overcomer” is not the best performing Christian nor is it the one who strives until the end. The overcomer is DEFINED here:
“For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world-our faith. Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?”
      ‭‭I John‬ ‭5‬:‭4‬-‭5‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
If you read the whole of 1 John 4 it sets the underlying understanding of what it means to overcome. It’s so simple that we miss it. The overcomer is the one who believes in the finished work of Christ. That is why we are exhorted to understand the love of God that now lives within us by way of the Holy Spirit. Perfect love casts out all fear. He who is in you is GREATER than he who is in the world.
This is all eternal security. What is actually meant to be a comforting verse of assurance to the believer has been twisted into something else.
      I hope this helps

It seems like my comment was deleted. But I will share it once again. The Bible makes it clear in this very verse you shared that "The Overcomers name will NOT be blotted out of the book of life".
Who is he who overcomes the world? He who believes that Jesus is the son of God. If you are born again you are an overcomer and your name will NOT be blotted out. You overcame not in the flesh but by the blood of the lamb.
“Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves Him who begot also loves him who is begotten of Him. By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and keep His commandments. For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome. For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world-our faith. Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?”
      ‭‭I John‬ ‭5‬:‭1‬-‭5‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
“He who overcomes shall be clothed in white garments, and I will not blot out his name from the Book of Life; but I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels.”
      ‭‭Revelation‬ ‭3‬:‭5‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
“You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.”

Scripture talks about both - 'The Tares and the Wheat' (Math. 13:24), as an example of those who never 'believed' but appeared as though they had (in farming wheat, a tare is almost indistinguishable from a wheat shaft. Only at harvest time do they really show themselves).
But, in the 'Parable of the Sower', only the first group didn't receive the word. The rest all received it, even with joy, and began to show some growth. The 'rocky' and 'thorn' soil never continued (abided) to the point of producing fruit (symbolic of falling away).
Those apostates he mentioned were likely all 'believers' in their past but fell away like those two soil types. Were the 10 virgins not all believers awaiting the Lord's return? Yet only 5 made it! That they were all believers is not challenged in the parable. It was their failure to continue in devotion to the things of Jesus that is reflected in their demise.
A 'Tare' never truly believed, so how can they 'fall away'? They never had something that they could fall away from. Only a true believer can fall away. They indeed have something that they can fall away from.

You're right, Nowhere in the bible does it say we should pray for Jesus to come into our hearts. Being saved through faith, and accepting what Jesus did for us on the cross. There is nothing you can do to earn, or win your salvation. John 1:12 says "Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God." Praying, or Baptism will not get you in Heaven. Now, The Bible does say that we are to pray continually to God. This is how we communicate with Him, and that
baptism is the way we show the world that we do accept Christ, so to pray to God for his mercy, and to show us his grace, in my opinion is a great way to start a relationship with the one true God.
Remember what Paul tells us in Romans 14:1-4 "Now accept the one who is weak in faith, but not for the purpose of passing judgment on his opinions. One person has faith that he may eat all things, but he who is weak eats vegetables only. The one who eats is not to regard with contempt the one who does not eat, and the one who does not eat is not to judge the one who eats, for God has accepted him. Who are you to judge the [a]servant of another? To his own [b]master he stands or falls; and he will stand, for the Lord is able to make him stand."
If someone believes that if they say a prayer, and are true in heart, then they will be saved, and we shouldn't criticize them for it. They probably didn't know how to get to God before that time in their life.
Romans 10:9-10 "If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. "

@@austinp1998 the opposite is true. How godless it is to think "once saved always saved". Cause God never forces us to follow him, and so it is not God, but it is alone you and me who decide we go to heaven or not. It is the same with our decision for Jesus: we alone decide to want that, not God. God offers this decision and we, you and me, we decide. Other wise all people in this word would reach the kingdom of heaven. But only maybe 5 % do. Why? Cause its not God who force us, to go there. If God does all, than all would go to heaven. Every child sees, that this cannot be true. God gave us a free will, and it is ours, and ours alone, who decide where we will go.
The other side is, that no one ever can say: I got saved cause I did so good things in my life, cause I decided to follow Jesus, ........Cause God can show you for one good deed you do 1000 sins you also committed. So at the end, it is grace if you reach the heaven. So nobody ever can be proud of how "good" he was. But this two sides are the sides of the truth, and it is totally wrong to take only the right or the left side as true. Both sides are true.

So you say some colorful statement but don't take us to Bible verses to back up your huge claim. What is the huge difference, Bible scholar, between Salvation and having Jesus as Lord? I won't get a response because your claim isn't supported by what CHRISTIANS get their faith from, that is the Bible.
JOHN chapter 17:3 says, "This is eternal life (salvation), that they may know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent".
Now we read Jesus telling us to KNOW the one True God and Jesus is salvation. You may say one leads to the other but you do a word search on KNOW used in that verse and it isn't an intellectual knowledge but a relational knowledge of being one with the Father and Son. How can you be one and Jesus says in Bible the evidence of that is me bring Lord of your life. Just as Jesus was submitted to His Father on earth and did whatever He said Jesus in turn says if your one with me and Father (saved) you) u will no longer speak or do without leading. You can't say your saved and go on with life saying He doesn't need to be Lord. This was never taught by Jesus.

Glad you're speaking about this because there's a pretty intractible heresy going around ("free grace" theology) that's teaching people that they not only don't have to foresake their sins, but that doing so constitutes a "work" and violates God's promise of the gift of salvation being "free". I'm happy to see that there are still Godly folks teaching righteousness in this crooked world.

    • @WilsonGasmido
      @WilsonGasmido 7 месяцев назад

These godly folks teaching righteousness is mentioned in
      2 Corinthians 11:13-15
'For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.
And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.
Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.'
read Jonah 3:10 God views "turning from sin" a work
'And God saw their WORKS, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did it not.'

    • @Cinnjerm24
      @Cinnjerm24 7 месяцев назад +2

@WilsonGasmido There's actually a lot to unpack here, but I want to start with this idea of "works" first. You say that turning from sin is a "work", yet do you know what else is a "work"? Sin is a work. You might recall God's word says that:
"Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy,d drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God." - Galatians 5:19-21
What I mean is that every action you take is in service to someone: either God or Satan. When we sin, this is a service to the devil. God's word says that:
"Whoever makes a practice of sinning is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil." - 1 John 3:8
"And you were dead in the trespasses and sins in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience." - Ephesians 2:1-2
"By this it is evident who are the children of God, and who are the children of the devil: whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is the one who does not love his brother." - 1 John 3:10
Now when you're a worker, a worker earns a wage and Paul writes to us that:
"The wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." - Romans 6:23
      Moreover Paul also writes that:
"If you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live." - Romans 8:13
"What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound? By no means! How can we who died to sin still live in it?" - Romans 6:1-2
"Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, to make you obey its passions. Do not present your members to sin as instruments for unrighteousness, but present yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life, and your members to God as instruments for righteousness." - Romans 6:12-13
      Jesus said that:
"No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other." - Matthew 6:24
      and also that:
"Everyone who practices sin is a slave to sin." - John 8:34
      While Paul similarly states that:
"Do you not know that if you present yourselves to anyone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin, which leads to death, or of obedience, which leads to righteousness? But thanks be to God, that you who were once slaves of sin have become obedient from the heart to the standard of teaching to which you were committed, and, having been set free from sin, have become slaves of righteousness." - Romans 6:16-18
You quoted 2 Corinthians 11:13-15 implying that these 2 teachers of righteousness are agents of the enemy, when in actual fact its those who encourage our brothers and sister to remain in a life of bondage to sin that are the "tares amongst the wheat". The book of Jude records that:
"For certain men have crept in among you unnoticed-ungodly ones who were designated long ago for condemnation. They turn the grace of our God into a license for immorality, and they deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ." - Jude 1:4
And again Paul similarly writes that:
"But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing upon themselves swift destruction. And many will follow their sensuality, and because of them the way of truth will be blasphemed. And in their greed they will exploit you with false words. Their condemnation from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep." - 2 Peter 2:1-3
"The time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions." - 2 Timothy 4:3
God's purpose in sending His Son Jesus wasn't only to save His people from the penalty of sin, but also to free us from its power as well. You might recall Jesus said that God had sent Him to "proclaim liberty to the captives" (Luke 4:18). He's speaking of freeing men [women] from the slavery of sin and (by His Spirit) empowering/guiding us to live righteous lives that please Him.
It's true that we are "saved by grace through faith" and that "this is not of ourselves, but a gift from God" (Ephesians 2:8), but if you literally just keep reading God's word also says that:
"We are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance as our way of life." - Ephesians 2:10
So in this way, our good works alone cannot save us, but when we are saved (that is when we have surrendered our lives to follow Jesus and turn from our wicked ways and receive His Spirit), his Spirit changes our hearts to align our desires with the Father's will for our lives (which never includes sin). The reason the good works that we now walk in we can take no credit for is because it is God working within us, "to will and to work for His good pleasure" [Philippians 2:13] (and not a labor of our own human effort).
      Lastly, Jesus said:
"If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me." - Matthew 16:24
So "present your body as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship," (Romans 12:1) and "put to death therefore what is earthly in you." (Colossians 3:5).

Do not present your members to sin as instruments for unrighteousness, but present yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life, and your members to God as instruments for righteousness. "What then? Are we to sin because we are not under law but under grace? By no means! Do you not know that if you present yourselves to anyone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin, which leads to death, or of obedience, which leads to righteousness? But thanks be to God, that you who were once slaves of sin have become obedient from the heart to the standard of teaching to which you were committed, and, having been set free from sin, have become slaves of righteousness." - Romans 6:15-18
"Whoever makes a practice of sinning is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil. No one born of God makes a practice of sinning, for God’s seed abides in him; and he cannot keep on sinning, because he has been born of God. By this it is evident who are the children of God, and who are the children of the devil: whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is the one who does not love his brother." - 1 John 3:8-10

That is the unforgivable sin, to be born again and filled with the goodness and presence of the Holy Spirit and then to say I hate you and don’t want you anymore. Sin doesn’t make you lose your salvation. As long as you believe, nothing can take you from His hand, but your free will choice to walk away most definitely can.

In the name of Jesus just quit with that unscriptural nonsense! Why? Because for one, if folks listen to it you’ll incur judgement unless you repent for misleading them! Yes, that’s what I said so please read it again and let it soak in. Repent for your careless words of man that fall to the ground. Surely you’ve read John 3:16 but have you bothered to read to the end of the chapter? Who is God’s enemy if it isn’t the one His wrath remains on for not obeying His Son? (Before receiving Christ) the Bible says we were “children of wrath.” Outside of Christ we were in the kingdom of darkness and who was our king then? It sure wasn’t the Lord! So if it wasn’t do you think He was our friend then?! No, we were absolutely enemies because of the original sin we are born with. Thanks be to God, though, that because of His great love, mercy and grace, His children have been redeemed. We’re bought by the blood of Jesus who saved us out of that old dark kingdom and has brought us into His marvelous kingdom of light! We worship the King of Kings! His grace is amazing and only now in Christ do we have the privilege of being friends with Him. So be humble and ask for godly sorrow to genuinely repent before God. And quit thinking you can speak for Him! We already have His word and it’s sufficient. Know this. His mercy is great and His grace is amazing! But neither will He share with His enemies who refuse to bow the knee and kiss the Son! Jesus is Lord! 🙏

You’re referencing a works based salvation. There is nothing you can do to keep yourself saved, only God can do that by the indwelling power of the Holy Spirit when we are born again. We are then sealed until the day of redemption. People can be quite mean when they don’t truly understand the gospel. They’ll always wonder where they stand with the Lord because they can’t ever do enough. Our good deeds are like filthy rags. It’s only when we rest in the finished work of Jesus that we will have full assurance of our salvation. It’s eternal.

      @@ChristineTX Hello Christine,
Continuing to place one's faith in God is not a work.
The following two bible passages prove that it is not.
      Firstly Romans 5:2 ESV
Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
The verse above shows that instead of our faith being a result of receiving God's grace - we only access God's grace THROUGH faith. This continues during the Christian life - while God's grace helps to keep us in the faith - it is also true that we will need to exercise faith (which is not a work) to remain covered by God's grace.
The verses below show the same - that instead of our continuing to have faith being the result of receiving God's grace - it's the opposite - our continuing to be covered by God's grace depends on our doing something which isn't a work - namely placing our faith in God.
      Ephesians 2:8-9 ESV
For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9not a result of works, so that no one may boast.

      @ChristineTX So what about:
"For if you live according to the flesh you will die, but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live." - Romans 8:13
""I say this because some ungodly people have wormed their way into your churches, saying that God’s marvelous grace allows us to live immoral lives. The condemnation of such people was recorded long ago, for they have denied our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ." - Jude 1
"He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness." - 1 Peter 2:24
"Live as people who are free, not using your freedom as a cover-up for evil, but living as servants of God." - 1 Peter 2:16
"Beloved, I urge you as sojourners and exiles to abstain from the passions of the flesh, which wage war against your soul. Keep your conduct among the Gentiles honorable, so that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day of visitation." - 1 Peter 2:11-12
"Therefore, preparing your minds for action, and being sober-minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. As obedient children, do not be conformed to the passions of your former ignorance, but as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, since it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.” - 1 Peter 1:13-16
"Since therefore Christ suffered in the flesh, arm yourselves with the same way of thinking, for whoever has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin, so as to live for the rest of the time in the flesh no longer for human passions but for the will of God. For the time that is past suffices for doing what the Gentiles want to do, living in sensuality, passions, drunkenness, orgies, drinking parties, and lawless idolatry. With respect to this they are surprised when you do not join them in the same flood of debauchery, and they malign you; but they will give account to him who is ready to judge the living and the dead. For this is why the gospel was preached even to those who are dead, that though judged in the flesh the way people are, they might live in the spirit the way God does." - 1 Peter 4:1-6
"No one born of God makes a practice of sinning, for God’s seed abides in him; and he cannot keep on sinning, because he has been born of God. By this it is evident who are the children of God, and who are the children of the devil: whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is the one who does not love his brother." - 1 John 3:9-10
"But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh." - Galatians 5:16
"For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age, waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works." - Titus 2:11-14
"And you were dead in the trespasses and sins in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience- among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind." - Ephesians 2:1-3
"Therefore put away all filthiness and rampant wickedness and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls." - James 1:21
"Abstain from every form of evil." - 1 Thessalonians 5:22
"Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap. For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life." - Galatians 6:8
"Jesus answered them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who practices sin is a slave to sin." - John 8:34
"Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, to make you obey its passions. Do not present your members to sin as instruments for unrighteousness, but present yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life, and your members to God as instruments for righteousness. For sin will have no dominion over you, since you are not under law but under grace." - Romans 6:12-14
"The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity, and debauchery; idolatry and sorcery; hatred, discord, jealousy, and rage; rivalries, divisions, factions, and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God." - Galatians 5:19-21
"You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God dwells in you. Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him." - Romans 8:9
"And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires." - Galatians 5:24
"So you also must consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus." - Romans 6:11
"Put to death therefore what is earthly in you: sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry." - Colossians 3:5
"To put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness." - Ephesians 4:22-24
"We know that our old self was crucified with him in order that the body of sin might be brought to nothing, so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin." - Romans 6:6

This whole notion of the great falling away hangs on that one verse in 2 Thessalonians 2:3, and the interpretation of that verse all hangs on the interpretation of that Greek word apostasia which can be interpreted 2 ways: as a spiritual departure or a physical departure. Given the end-time context of this chapter, some commentators such as Dr Andy Woods have theorised that the apostasia actually refers to the rapture, which is a physical departure from the earth by the church which will happen at some point during the end times. Unfortunately, the word apostasia has now been transliterated into the English language with a meaning of spiritual departure attached to it, ever since the King James Version translators interpreted it that way, so most people just assume apostasy is a falling away from the faith, and have no idea that it could also refer to the rapture.

If a person accepted Jesus as their personal savior, or walked an aisle, or made a decision, or exercised their will to allow God to save them, then they were never actually saved to begin with, and the question is moot.

I always get sick of that response sir. My Baptist dad use to say that. That if they fall away they were not saved in the first place. You might as well say : If you commit a sin or give into temptation you were never saved in the first place. God never takes over people's free wills. The devil would never tempt, attack, and wreck Christians lives if he thought he was powerless to do so. Jesus said He that endures unto the end shall be saved. Paul taught: we were saved, we are being saved, and we shall be saved. Robert Shank was a Baptist pastor who understood and wrote a book on it called "Life In The Son". Every epistle Paul wrote he let you know salvation was conditional upon you staying in the faith. I could write a whole book on the scriptures there are showing you have to abide, and continue, and remain, and keep the faith, etc. to stay saved so to speak. You still have a choice after you get saved to continue and grow and keep the faith and die to self and fear the Lord. Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. Why teach Christians to fear the Lord if it doesn't matter for their salvation. The Bible is full of ifs. And paul the so called grace preacher was non compromising and full of ifs. If you continue in the faith.

That being said, I don’t perceive that this gave a real clear answer to… if someone exemplifies a life that surrenders to an honors God, but even has seasons or struggles (as David did) … can someone who is saved, lose their salvation?

At that time I will tell the harvesters: First collect the weeds and tie them in bundles to be burned; then gather the wheat and bring it into my barn.’”
Only God knows the heart. I think it's important for us to discuss this, to seek clarity, to examine ourselves, and to spur each other on in the faith.
We need to know and teach the Truth and if we see brothers and sisters stumbling, to encourage them. But ultimately God knows what's in our heart.
And a heart indifferent to, or worse that still loves sin, is far from Him.

Completely understand where you're at, as I once struggled with many of these same questions until I did some deep study and sought the Lord for answers. He faithfully revealed through the bible and directly to my heart and mind the full extent of the gospel and what salvation really means for us as believers. I found a lot of that missing from this clip & it’s concerning. When we are made alive (born again) by the Holy Spirit, there is no sin left unforgiven that would cause the Holy Spirit to depart and the bible says that we are sealed until the day of redemption. We can’t be “unborn,” and believers need to know this crucial aspect of salvation. If true transformation has taken place, you’ll never “walk away” because you know you belong to Christ. There is no alternative. Despite our wrong thoughts, actions, dark moments in life, doubts, struggles, etc., the Holy Spirit will never depart from someone who has been made into a new creation by their repentance from dead works to belief in the saving power of the Lord Jesus through His death and resurrection. This is why the bible says we can have confidence and assurance in our salvation, it's the most incredible gift ever.

This is the best answer yet! Plenty of scripture has been taken out of context on this subject. Do yourself a favor and listen to FAR BETTER bible teachers than John B. Most bible scholars will tell you that you CAN NOT lose your salvation. Get a good teacher that will walk you through the scriptures. You will find them in almost every denomination. Chuck Missler, John MacArthur (I am not a Calvinist and John is, but he has excellent teaching on OSAS, Robert Morris, Andrew Farley, Paul Washer, Voddie Baucham, David Jeremiah, and literally thousands more. All different doctrines but they all agree you cannot lose your salvation and they do a 1000 times better job with scripture than JB. Almost no true bible teachers agree with John Bevere he is kind of considered a legalist. @@ChristineTX

You folks really have to clarify some things. Once you except Jesus and that you are a sinner, doesn't mean you are going to be this perfect little angel that everybody loves because they feel Jesus flowing through you! Every Christian struggles with sin, so please, those who are now worried from listening to this, whether you saved or not that......stop. The mere fact that you are worried about it tells me your heart is in the right place. May God bless your journey of sanctification!!

I guess my question is what does falling away look like? I know in the past few months my desire for church has really diminished for a variety of reasons, not the church has a body, but the church as a building. my desire for Jesus has actually intensified my prayer life has gotten more fervent. My Bible reading has gotten stronger and my desire to be in the word is also gotten stronger. I hope I’m not being too judge here, but the church and itself in my eyes has turned into too much entertainment, and two theatrical, just my way of seeing it not saying I’m right I’m just saying

"CAN YOU BE SURE OF YOUR SALVATION?"
    Written by Marty Breeden
I'm going to share my years of study....and my heart on a very controversial Biblical subject!!
My friends, I grew up in a Pentecostal church, and we got "saved" at least 3 times every week!😅
Seriously though, as I grew older I really grappled with this concept.
So I decided to push aside all of my pre-conceived notions, and to prayerfully research this very serious topic on my own.
Honestly...I was surprised at the final conclusion that I arrived at, after years of study and prayer.
I submit this, my findings for your consideration, written by me, please keep an open mind:
We cannot earn our salvation, in any way.
We bring nothing to the table but a broken and contrite heart.
    IT IS A GIFT!
Yes, one that we must accept willingly and of our own choosing.
We can accept it or reject it, it's our "free will" to do either.
If we CANNOT EARN our salvation, and we can't, then how can we ever stay "good enough" to keep it?
    We CAN'T!
Salvation is a gift!! Salvation is called "The gift of God" over 20 times in the New Testament. The Bible tells us that the gifts and callings of God are "without repentence", (Romans 11:29) Meaning they are IRREVOCABLE!
God does not "gift us" with eternal life on the "maintenance plan".
It is all grace forever and Jesus said ALL that the Father has given me, I will not LOSE one of them!
Jesus said in John 6:39: He is the "Good Shepherd",and no good shepherd loses a single sheep.
Jesus said "ALL that the Father has given me, I LOSE NONE!"
Now admittedly there is a HUGE difference between those who are truly converted and those who are falsely converted.
I have studied this issue for MANY years and am convinced of the eternal security of the true believer!!
Another point would be this, Jesus told Nicodemas ; "That which is born of flesh is flesh, that which is born of Spirit is Spirit" (John 3:6)
When you have a child born "of your flesh" there is nothing that child can EVER do to NOT BE YOUR CHILD!
It's absolutely impossible to ever undue that which has been done in the flesh!
That child may disappoint, disobey, walk away, but regardless that child was born of you and nothing can change that, ...NOTHING!
Now, Jesus point is the same concerning that which is "Born of the Spirit".
A truly born again child of God may wander, fall, fail and admittedly "conditionally " be a mess, HOWEVER, "POSITIONALLY" they are secure and "SEALED" as an envelope that can only be opened by Father God! (Ephesians 4:30).
My daughters will FOREVER be my daughters, and I will FOREVER be their Father regardless of what they do...OR do not do!
Can a child ever be "Un-born"?
    NO!
The same spiritual dynamic applies here as well. A comparison to the physical.
Some erroneously use Revelation 3:5 to prove that a born again believer can have their names removed from the "Book of Life", but a correct interpretation clearly shows that Jesus said that He would NEVER blot a true believer from the"Book of Life"!
    Read:
"The one who conquers will be clothed thus in white garments, and I will never blot his name out of the book of life.
I will confess his name before my Father and before his angels."
My friends if "Good works" cannot attain our salvation, then our "Good works" cannot MAINTAIN our salvation!
Conversely, neither can "bad works" lose it either. However, I do believe there to be a COLOSSAL difference between those who profess to be "Born again".. and are Christian in name ONLY!
As compared to those who are truly "Born Again" and truly saved and display the fruits of the Holy Spirit in their lives.
Remember, Jesus said in Matthew 7:22-23:
" Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity!"
Notice Jesus said I NEVER KNEW YOU!
Not "Well, I knew you BUT then,.. you did this, or that, or failed or were fallen, He said I NEVER KNEW you! The truly redeemed are "Sealed unto the day of redemption".
If we suppose that we are given the GIFT of salvation but we have to do SOMETHING/ANYTHING in order to keep it, then we are professing and confessing our very own selves as "Co-redeemers" with Christ!
Because you are implying your salvation is based on you doing or not doing something and this is simply NOT BIBLICAL!
Anyone who thinks however, that this is a license to live in sin and live like hell and the devil is deceived and the truth of Gods Spirit does not dwell within them and I believe Biblically NEVER did have a true encounter with the Living Christ!

What about the thief on the cross?? Did he have time to show people he changed?? NO. Overtime as a Christian your old desires will slowly change by the daily renewing of your mind. But your spirit is PERFECTED the day you make Jesus your Lord & Savior.PERIOD!!
Your are claiming your works of not being selfish is what is making you saved.

I had been "saved" since 8 years old , when I started believing in Christ. BUT, I finally asked Jesus into my heart in 2007...before that I definitely gave an in road for Satan to enter because of some of my choices. I feel I'm "branded" and am in the Lambs book of Life. I think there's a big difference between believing and asking God in your heart.

Oh so many people i grew up with said these exact same words, many still do. But there are thousands that now have either deconstructed or converted to other religions, yet said exactly what you said. So, were they not really branded and they only thought they were OR are they branded and Jesus is simply waiting on them to come back which is another way of saying “they lost their salvation” even if only “temporally”? If the later this is what we call mortal sin…

I’m not sure why it seem like most of the time I’ve heard this questioned asked why pastors won’t answer this question. The
Bible is clear in several scriptures but I’ll just list this one where Jesus is speaking Rev 3:5.

When you are in a relationship with The Trinity, after being born again, it is IMPOSSIBLE to eat earthly food again and live. A table is set in the midst of your enemies and you are eating of Him they do not know. If you have had a revelation of who Jesus is, you belong to God.

The best way to learn Christianity is through a traditional church like Catholic or Lutheran. I learned about Jesus and God as an old fashion garden variety, lukewarm Lutheran back in the 50's and 60's. It gave me a moral compass as a child and balance. I had a simple faith in God and no struggles spiritually whatsoever.
Later on, I became a Christian fundamentalist and that is what really opened my eyes up to things. I began to realize that the fundamentalist God is not the God I knew as a child.
Bringing up a child the fanatical fundamentalist way can be mental and spiritually abusive and gives a child a total false world view and can turn one into a judgmental, ignorant little robot slave.
