Thanks Steve its like you read my mind I was going to do brakes on my buddies Freewheeler tomorrow, and I wasnt exactly sure what I was getting into, but you answered all the questions I had,Thank you so much for your channel,as you know your videos have gotten me out of a few jams, thanks and keep them coming it keeps me and my buddies knees in the breeze,Lol
Steve, I appreciate the great detail you go in to explaining everything. I have always said if you’re gonna do it, do it right. The point where you pointed out on the master cyclinder needed to move smooth caught my attention. I dont have a Trike but it is good information to put in the memory bank. I’m not getting younger. I can see a Trike in my future.
I appreciate you checking them out..lots of good info on these videos that can translate over to the 2 wheelers..and I feel ya age thing..lol...im sure it wont be long for me either
Excellent video Bro but I don't know if YT has done something but the audio from about 9:32 till around 12:33 has been striped out right at the time you are about to remove the rear pads and greasing the pins. Keep up the work!!
Thank you and yes I know the issue..its weird that my microphone, during that part went to mono mode so depending on what you are watching it on you wont have audio for that time...if you are watching it on a phone I assume it wont work but on the PC with 2 speakers it works. very strange
Steve, do you have a video showing how to adjust a cable clutch? I’ve watched all of your videos, but didn’t see one. I don’t know if it something you would want to do. But an interesting idea for us weekend mechanics. LOL
Hey ryan...Ill see about getting one shot. I just put cables on the cholo build this week and was so clinched for time I didnt get to do a video on it and while i was adjusting the clutch and cables I knew I should have shot that video...Ill try to get one done asap.
As always, great vid Steve! Don’t own a trike but always learn som’n from ur vids whether applicable to my bike or not. One question… I noticed u removed the master cylinder covers for this job but did not when u did the touring model brakes in the that video… is there a reason it’s different or u just showing it can be done either way? Really diggin the new look on this trike! 😎🤙🏼
Hey Bam...yeah so generally I dont remove the covers but the service manual says too...The only time I take them off is if I cannot get the pistons pushed back in all the way. I figured I better do it by the book since they are 3 piston calipers. But to be real...99.9% of the time those covers stay on with no issues.
GREAT ViDEO! Thanks. I recently changed my front pads on 2018 Tri-glide as you suggested. Went well thanks. However now my brakes SQUEAL! When coming to a stop. Either the rear foot pedal or the RH lever will cause this awful noise. Seems louder on the front though. Any suggestions to remedy this. I used HD stock pads from HD Dealer. Thanks for any suggestion. Again great detailed video! Well done.
thats honestly pretty typical of braks on harleys ...the best thing you can do is get in a parking lot, get her up to about 30 and hit the brakes the best you can without locking it op and do that several times...that heats the pads up and helps kind of break them in to the rotors. You can also add a tad of copper grease to the pack of the pads...it takes very little and smear it on and put your pads back on...this will act like an isolator to reduce vibration and noise.
In reference to the front and rear brakes is the design that much different from the brakes on a 2021 Tri Glide ultra? I know this was a Freewheeler 2018.
the front is not but the rear is slightly different on the way they mount and the e brake...here is a free service manual supplement for a 21 trike model from my google drive ..please download it and keep it..check out section 2.9 drive.google.com/file/d/1XgdaHew-FRfPYy3GBy6nXW86cApczi47/view?usp=drive_link this supplement covers everything different on the trike that isnt basically the front of the bike which is the touring model..here is the link to the 21 touring model...the trike sup will reference the touring model manual so you need both. drive.google.com/file/d/1m--eYpigkO-VNhBJfGZ5a6qMQdeeh1lz/view?usp=drive_link I hope this helps!
The e cable is attached differently but you can see the bolts and what need to come off...If I get a newer trike in here I will shoot another video on that style
Hey Steve love your vids brother but I need to tell you this my son ordered advanblack painted fairing . The fairing came 3 weeks late ok no problem but no directions on how to install ,missing half the hardware some brackets are wrong it’s a total nightmare. He had to go to Home Depot to try to get what he needed unbelievable. I have been a subscriber since the early days . I will never order anything ever again from advanblack I’m going to send them an E mail and I will tell every other you tuber what our experience was . I know this is off the subject but very frustrated and I hope know one else goes through this not for the money he paid
Sorry you had a bad experience with it..what fairing is it, the ST fairing? .Did you try emailing or calling them before doing all of that to get the proper hardware?
@@sikbaggers it’s the low rider S and it’s my sons bike I don’t know if he E mailed them or tried to call . He is on a time constraint leaving on a bike trip next week so I don’t thing he had the time to wait getting the fairing late also didn’t help the situation . I couldn’t help him much because I had to leave . Hopefully he will be able to complete the install today. Thank you for the response it was very frustrating I’ll let you know how it turns out
@@sikbaggers Hey good morning Steve just wanted to give you an update on the fairing for the low rider S my son purchased from Advanblack . We did get the hardware that was missing as I said from Lowe’s and it worked out remember we are on a time constraint he did contact Advanblack and they are shipping out anything that was missing and apologized for there error . We didn’t receive the items yet but again at this time there is no rush. I personally wanted to thank you for getting back to me and trying to help . I also want to thank Advanblack for doing the right thing . I said I would never buy another thing or tell anyone else to buy anything from Advanblack . We were very frustrated and it all worked out in the end . Advanblack is aces in my book and stood by there Custermer. Thanks again.
