wow,,just found this James. What beautiful conditions for a solo camp in a sensational part of the sea kayaking world. Really appreciated the effort required to give the impression of a second person recording your adventure. Tragic about the beers, but sure there was a happy sneaky seal out there. Something special about a solo overnighter. Well done.....Peter
Cheers Pam, yes the different noises were fantastic. I wish I had better audio for everyone to hear, but the audio in the GoPros just made it. Glad you liked it!
Will be up there again in May 2024 and if weather and tide is favourable I would like to do the same route, both sides of the sound are really beautiful. Thanks for posting it.
We were looking at paddling around kerrera this weekend but instead opted for the Appin area and castle stalker. Hopefully conditions are as forecast and we can take in the islands around the area. Great video.
James, that was fantastic. Bravo! I’m still grinning at the “stunnin’” scenery-what a magical place, well captured by your nicely framed footage. I know where I’m going when I get back to Scotland! Cheers
Great video James. I'm a bit curious about the phone like thing at the beginning. I noticed a lot of walkers have GPS/satellite "phones", but this one looks to me being a marine VHF ? radio? Firstly because it has a longer aerial, secondly the display shows "16" which to my knowledge is the calling channel on marine VHF. Many years ago my first job as en engineer was designing the handset for a marine yacht radio.
Hey Karl, I’m glad you liked the video. The device on my BA is a VHF radio. Its waterproof and floats. I had it set at channel 16, the emergency channel. It’s one of my things I have, should I need it, to get emergency help. I have other devices and emergency planning arrangements - just in case. Invariably I’ve never needed to use any of these but the day I don’t take them or fail to plan properly will be the day I need it. Glad you liked it. Cheers James
@@JamesFleming888 Thanks James. It all makes good sense - better safe than sorry is always the best measure. BTW: Did you have to get a certificate for using the VHF radio? When I worked at Shipmate (the company), we had to get a certificate even though we were just designing the electronics for the radio. I still have it, but I've never used it since. Afterwards I moved into mobile phones for a number of years before I was made redundant. Anyway I'm now retired and just waiting to go over to Scotland again soon. I'll give the circular walk on Kerrera a serious consideration when I visit that area.
Thank you for the invite James. I will eargerly join the channel.

I'm thinking Scotland and the nearby islands are the worlds most beautiful kayaking locations. Great video James, shame about your beers.
Thanks for watching it.... West coast Scotland, as you say, the best sea kayaking in the world...probably. Stunning islands.
