I am a french citizen . I was born not far from Evreux in1941. My parents are buried in Evreux . I am master Mariner of sea-going. Now pensioned and living in Marseilles. After leaving the Merchant Navy, i worked as organist in church (cassis and carnoux en provence) to accompany messes, Chorales, solists during 20years. I have never heard directly this organ but I Know that it has been designed and constructed by Pascal Quoirin ( one of the best organ maker ) .
Regarding Jonathan Scott . I can say that he is an excellent organist , he has recently inaugured the giant organ of Taipeh ( ex Formose) and everybody appreciate all what he plays : also all he speacks about. Thanks to Jonathan and all those who contribute to promote Jonthan , organists and organ music .
French organ builders from Langhedul, Dom Bédos, and Pére Isnard to Lété and Cavaillé-Coll have been famous for their wonderful reed stops, and Msr. Quoirin partakes of this grand tradition. Magnifique!

Truly, an exciting modern French tracker in glorious acoustics; needless to say, Jonathan is THE concert virtuoso. His selection of compositions are extremely noteworthy and the playing has both virtuosity as well as sensitivity for the musical line and the total understanding for the Art of the musical phrase. Grand flair for the dramatic here! Tom is indeed not only a brilliant piano virtuoso but also a brilliant and imaginative photographer!
I think I've found the best performance of the Grand Choeur Dialogue I've ever heard. Astounding stuff...
Very glad to find you this evening, because of your art of playing religious music on such organ gives to me the same emotion as I was hearing angels from heaven. This is wonderful. Thank you so much.
Ok
I live in NZ too, an expatriate Anglo-Scot, who really misses the architectural wonders of my old home. A few years ago I walked from Canterbury to Iona, and visited Canterbury, Rochester, St Paul's, Southwark cathedrals, Westminster Abbey, King College Chapel, Ely, Peterborough, Lincoln cathedrals (the latter city my birthplace), Beverly Minster, York Cathedral, old abbeys including Whitby, Durham, Newcastle cathedrals, Holy Island, Edinburgh, Glasgow cathedrals and finally Iona Abbey. In many heard great organ music and some choirs. New Zealand is a beautiful place, but, as you'd understand, it doesn't come with this inheritance, but you bring for free us living here some of the most beautiful places in the UK and the Continent, with the most wonderful music ever composed, which you have totally mastered with your incredible musicianship. The Hebrides Overture was truly magnificent, a stunning arrangement which sounded totally at home in this beautiful church, blazing out from this glorious instrument. I would echo the sentiment of Janice, thank you and your brother Tom, for your generosity, it shines out.
Your transcriptions are absolutely awesome Jonathan. I think all the original orchestral composers would approve of them
I think it’s amazing when Jonathan says ‘Thanks very much for watching’ when all the pleasure is ours, sitting in our armchairs, greedily drinking in their wonderful talents.
C'est la première fois que j'entends ce grand organiste américain (comme son frère au piano) jouer un orgue français ! Bravo !
British organist
This organ is looking very special, and sounds powerful & wow, wonderful performance // again today Oct 15/2024: seeing and hearing this again, I'm stunned by the powerfull intro. What a great organ, and you can hear the large space of the cathedral, impressed again! and Handels Largo... wonderfull too
To the 4 people who disliked this: get a better taste in music, this was phenomenal!
Disliking a video causes the RUclips algorithm to assume that the video is more interesting, and it will, therefore, recommend it more. So, they were actually doing the Jonathan and the video a favor.
Some people go through their whole lives disliking everything

When you open the stops it makes a cool sound love this and all your videos
Seen that Cathedral many times on my way through France with my Lorry ,Often wondered how it looked inside.
This sounds much like a Cavaille-Coll-especially with the Vierne! Bravo!
I’ve often wondered how well the Mendelssohn would translate onto the organ… beautiful!
I've heard the Carillon de Westminster Op. 54, No.6 played loads of times! But your interpretation and registration is second to none! You make everything sound so fresh and vibrant! I can only as ever give you :- ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Handel had the unique ability to make most of his compositions suitable for successful performance as organ solos
il suono dell'organo suonato da questo bravo organista..eccheggia nella vasta cattedrale in onore di Dio....
A magnificent piece of music. I played it after Mass this morning.
I am a life-long musician and recently discovered the Scott Brothers to my great delight. They are presenting a broad, varied, and gorgeous repertoire in magnificent settings. Their output is prodigious and so well-done. Bravo from the USA!
Beautiful, wonderful! I love listening to your explanations about the composers and their works. The video is wonderful! Thank you both for everything!
Great work of music here, thanks for bringing this to life.
I listen to your playing
Sometimes 2 hours or more most days. So beautiful and calming.
Your technique is wonderful. I enjoy that
you play a great variety of composers
from various countries and times.
Spectacular Performance
What a glorious sound.
I wonder if anyone on here can help me with a project. I have been watching these concerts since the start of the corona crisis and found them wonderful. I think that the Scott brothers are unique in their ability to convey their love of music to a wide audience and the way in which they have done this during the corona crisis has been both generous and innovative.
I would like to nominate them for a UK honour for services to music. I have looked at the process for doing this and I need to have 2 supporting letters from people who know the nominees personally. I don’t have the pleasure of knowing them but, as a UK citizen living in Sweden, there is nothing to stop me nominating them and writing the justification for the nomination.
So, if you know Johnathan and Tom personally, and can help me with a supporting letter, please leave a message on here and we can find a way of communicating directly. I am not a huge fan of the honours system myself, but if it exists, we might as well try and ensure that some honours go to people other than Boris’s mates.
Henderson Greenwood excellent idea, they have been a saviour for many. I enjoyed the concerts and then found the back catalogue.
I am sure you can make this happen, the brothers certainly deserve any award for services to music , very unique 👍🎼🎼
Might want to try Georgia Mann (@MannGeorgia on Twitter) of BBC3 who hosted Jonathan's Proms concert and was properly impressed, and @MyShHolmes (Twitter) who's a huge fan of the boys, had attended many of their concerts, and seems to know them and their family. With you in spirit from the U.S. (where my own project is finding someone to invite them over to this side of the Atlantic!)
@@jacquesbensimon6509 Thanks a lot Jacques. Those are two very encouraging leads that I will follow up. Good luck with your own project as well.
@@jacquesbensimon6509 A wonderful idea Jacques. If it goes forward, may I suggest that the brothers perform at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart in Newark, New Jersey. It is the largest Gothic Cathedral in North America and so often overlooked for a concert of this nature. The acoustics in this cathedral are amazing.
What great joy you bring during these bleak days!! I am so grateful to you both. You are more precious than I can put into words.
‼️‼️‼️ ABSOLUTELY ‼️‼️‼️
‼️‼️‼️ OUTSTANDING‼️‼️
FELICITATIONS JONATHAN SCOTT!!!
👏Bravo to the world's best 1-person orchestra! With one word: incredible! Music, space , organ, videography... Merci beacoup Jonathan and of course Tom!
There is no sound more epic than this!!! It's totally AWESOME!!!
to all the handel's haters, he was considered the best composer in the world BY MOZART
BeAùtifull music i love it
As a wee tot I was the perfect height to be amazed how my mother’s shoes flew over the pedals. Thanks for the memories and stunning musical treats. You guys are a global treasure.
Absolutely a wonder performance. Thank you Jonathan and Tom for continuing to bring us these videos of great organs, great music, great playing, and great video and audio production quality.
I hope you tour florida someday I want to go to your concert
We are on holiday and adore listening to Johnathon Scott. I am a huge convert to organ recitals since hearing his beautiful music
That's good to read. He is a superlative ambassador for the organ. Kindest regards, Peter A
I normally do not like organ music and would not endure a concert unless I was there in person, but this organist does such a wonderful job of explaining and teaching the history of the music, I stayed tuned. And whoever editted the video, bravo for masterfully capturing the playing of such a complex instrument along with views of the church itself. What a treat.
Lee Abe it is his brother Tom who does all the camera work and editing, Tom also is a pianist of renown himself. Go into their catalogue and se them play together in churches and concert halls worldwide to see the HUGE talents that they both are.
@@samrodian919 how sweet it is when brothers work together in unity!
Jonathon, thank you for sharing your loving gift of organ music. This is a treasure to me and I appreciate you!

The opinion of an American amateur at music, I found this recording of Mr. Scott's concert last evening in Evruex to be a thrilling musical experience. The organ and organ playing were simply magnificent, and the video accompaniment of the cathedral's interior and exterior was beautifully presented. Thank you Jonathan Scott as well as Evreux Cathedral and it new organ for a truly rousing and exciting Sunday morning of music listening. My sincere appreciation of your artistry. Bravo.
My favorite organists!!
Mine too.
Maravilhoso . Maria
Thank you Tom and Jonathan for this wonferful online concert from Notre Dame d'Evreux, Normandy, France
It was great, a bit too short, it was so beautiful, thanks also for the great images, the feet of Jonathan are like the one of the swan, moving with speed, when at the surface the organist is very calm.
Thank you again, a great evening concert
... and to go with the magnificent music from Jonathan, more magnificent camera work from Tom. Well done again, both of you.
Another unique concert Jonathan and Tom , the Cathedral , organ and music are perfect for the grandeur of the evening 👍🎼🎼
The Gigout was perhaps the best interpretation of this popular piece. Amazing concert played on a very interesting and thrilling instrument- thank you Jonathan and Tom.
like so many, I have thoroughly enjoyed these series of "lockdown" concerts by Jonathan on a variety of organs along with Tom's photography and editing, and indeed when he joins his brother playing the piano. What marvelously talented musicians they are and I, for one, am grateful they have worked so hard during these difficult times to bring "live" music to the world. I do not play any instruments, but do sing in a choral society and have my father to thank for my love of music, and have inherited his interest in the pipe organ - hence my admiration for the Scott Brothers. Very much looking forward to being in the audiance for one of their concerts again when we can. . .
Majestic and beautiful
You brighten up my Saturday evening big time! My deepest gratitude and respect for you both Jonathan and Tom! A hundred stars not only for the music but also for the sound quality and brilliant videography! God bless you for sharing so much joy with us.

Hello Jonathan. Bravo. Your Concert at Evreux last Friday was wonderful !
Christophe (Evreux)
Das ist Musik mit großer Kraft und starken Bildern . Sie geben diese Energie weiter ,als wenn etwas freigesetzt wird , das man nicht kannte !Danke
Just had to listen and see the beautiful church inside and outside again ! We were lucky to be in Normandy in 2017 and so enjoyed our trip , brought back wonderful memories, such a blessing in these difficult times .💕🙏👵🏼👍
Beautiful!!!
Oh my God . Jonathan Scott you and this Organ are amazing.
Bravo, très réussi! Instrument magnifique et interprète à la hauteur!
Please, please come to Lexington, KY. There are so many wonderful organs which I'd love to hear you play. Christ Church Cathedral (brilliant Festival Trumpet), The Singletary Center, Centenary Methodist Church (spectacular Tuba), Maxwell St. Presbyterian Church (tuned in Baroque style); home of Dr. Schulyer Robinson. Granted, I am biased (as a student of Dr. Robinson), however, I think you'd have a lot of fun here. I'd absolutely love to watch you play!
Splendid - you get 5 stars from me mate!
I had heard of Pascal Quoirin but had not heard one of his instruments. I never have heard such elegant reeds.
To anyone who disliked - you have no soul.
Listening in New Zealand. Am enjoying your music so much. Have listened to a lot of your concerts. Thank you very much for your musicianship and generosity in sharing.
Amen!
Another wonderful concert Jonathan. Thank you so much. We need these concerts on CD so we can enjoy again and again.
What a beautiful concert. You are a master. The organ is a jewel. The music very well chosen , everything was perfect. PERFECT. Thank you brothers, from Brazil .
Love the Carillon de Westminster - well played indeed!
Absolutely magnificent performance of the Vierne 👏🏻
Jonathan Scott, you and your crew are the best. I've never heard such life breathed into Handel's Largo. Your comments are always brief and to the point--and the camera work is splendid. What a blessing you are to this planet. Thanks for posting the organ's specs. I'm surprised the pedal doesn't have a few more reed stops.
Wow!!! Wonderful organ, wonderful accoustics, wonderful performance and wonderful recording. Thanks so much.
Thank you very much! Greetings from Germany.
The coolest brothers ever!
Absolutely insane!! Gives me goosebumps!! ❤🎶🥰
A beautiful program. I always love when you play with Tom. You are both so blessed!!! Bellmore, NY USA
Brilliant organ and fantastic playing; a very enjoyable concert of great music.
I was hooked from the first note. Amazing music, magnificent instrument. Thank you!
Have set the reminder. Hebrides is my favourite piece of music 🙂. Hope you enjoy it as much as we will. Take care and stay safe
I enjoyed this video so so much! I'd never heard of Evreux before so it was a thrilling eye-opener for me in so many ways. An amazingly light and beautiful cathedral with wonderful stained glass. The rose window in the transept is stunning, like lace. Just the brilliant filming of the interior and exterior of the building would have made this programme worth watching in itself. But the plentiful icing on the cake is Johnathan's choice of works and his stunning technique and his friendly presentation between the pieces. I loved his transcription of the Mendelssohn Hebrides overture and I think by choice I'd put his transcription on a par with if not above the orchestral version! His flying feet in some of the pieces shows an amazing and wholly accurate pedal technique of which I as a real fumbler am I incredibly envious!! The sound of the organ is so wonderfully traditional French and good that it is tracker with the brilliant Barker system. I once played some of the Widor Toccata for a friend's wedding on an English 3 manual tracker instrument and had to have physiotherapy after on by hands and wrists!!
I notice some negative comments on the organ case but to me it's unashamed modern design is brilliant and complements the way the eye is drawn upwards by the height of the splendid nave and choir. Thank you all who produced this exciting video and now when I feel I can safely return to my beloved France Evreux will be a MUST to visit. Pity I won't be able to arrange Johnathan there to show me this magnificent organ to complete the visit!!
Bravo!!! 👏👏👏👏
Wow! Love the reeds on that organ! 😊 a great concert as always!
Brilliant looking forward to lighting up next Saturday evening. You brothers are keeping us sane!
Wonderful!
Thanks for this interesting video!
What a fantastic modern French instrument.
What a beautiful cathedral, your photography certainly does justice, Tom. It is now on my bucket list to visit, hopefully.
I loved this evening's music from this amazing organ. Your rendition of the Hebrides Overture, Jonathan, was wonderful. Having studied this piece for my music O level I know it well, and the themes were all there. Haven't been able to get to Staffa yet, also on my bucket list. So thank you for this evening, safe travels and stay safe and God bless you both.
Amazing reeds from the Quoirin organ! Very indicative of Cavaille Colls sound.
Another brilliant concert by Jonathan Scott. Thank you!
You did Eugene Gigout proud w/Grand Choer Dialogue.❤
Great performance and pieces. I really enjoyed the explanation before each one, thank you sir!
Thanks, both of you, for the beautiful music and video. Just outstanding. So glad to be able to see and hear this. 👏👏👏👏👏❤️
Best wishes for a successful completion of your project Mr Greenwood. If anyone is deserving of an award for promoting music during this very strange time I can think of no one better than the Scott Brothers. Would love to buy a pint for these two to say thank you.
Craig, thanks for your very supportive comment.
Magnifique interprétation, orgue magnifique à Evreux et cathédrale Notre-Dame merci de la Belgique
Amazing! Brilliant! Thanks to you and Tom for all of these wonderful programs. Beautiful and tasteful photos of the Cathedral. Arrangements are superb Jonathan! Really appreciate your work!
bella la musica e le vetrate di cotesta cattedrale...
An appreciative listener for several years. Thank you for everything and for the link to offer support. Gladly!
Jonathan Scott, the organist of this beautiful concerto, doesn't be afraid to play the organ pipes with stops, full deep bass, to use the acoustics of the place and the "reverberation". Only one more organist was not afraid to do so: Marie-Claire Alain. Look, people. Do anyone think that if Bach or Beethoven were living today they will not use the Biggest Organ on Earth or the Wanamaker Organ, on Macy's, or the biggest one on Earth (the one being restored in Atlantic City) with very power playing??? From the last 20 years or maybe 30 years, organists are afraid to use all the power the Organ Pipes can provide, because lots of critics find that they have to use the old organ Bach played; the orchestras have to use the original instruments of the Ancient Era or Epoch... Look, it's fun to hear the old instruments of the epoch of Bach or Beethoven or Vivaldi, but for the last 80 years we have new instruments with more acoustics and power than before. We could have the option to buy both (music recorded on old instruments and music recorded with the most modern ones). And there's very, very, very hard to find the second option. Maybe because the critics don't have good receivers or good tower speakers (speakers with a minimum of 20Hz or 30Hz) to play organ music or big orchestras. Who hear music using computer, cellulars (cellphones), very small speakers or to ones who use only headphones... they don't know anything about how the music can be heard LIVE in a Cathedral or big Churches. They don't have any idea of acoustics, but they love to criticize the so-called reverberation. Reverberation exists in all Cathedral or big Churches (to invite us to enter the place, and maybe to call God to hear the music with us). Organ Pipes were used to call people far way to the church, and maybe God...
Bravo!! With the stamping, whistling and cheering that SHOULD have been part of the ending of the concert.
