Old Japan Railway Construction Public Corporation ( "JRCC" 鉄建公団 Tekken-kodan ) built this hi-spec railway line for freight trains since 1976. But the demand of freight train's market was decreased, and this plan of construction was revised and shrunk by JRCC with huge debt can not be repaid. Central Japan Railway ("JR Central") has been succeeded this line, and a subsidiary of JR Central ( Tokai Transport Service Company "TKJ" ) has operated only passenger service on this line since 1991.
