    If you don’t get it fixed Gary has a sled for him to borrow 😂😂 just kidding Gary.
    Can’t wait to see what trailer you bought.

      That's a great suggestion. lol.
      I can't wait until the trailer comes in. I was 3 weeks ago yesterday that I ordered it so it should be any day now! Thanks for watching Tom.

    I have tore down multiple skidoo 800s, Id definatley split cases and have the crank and bearings checked. Also have bearings repacked with isoflex and do crank seals. I mean doing it now is better then during prime riding season. Also id get aftermarket dual ring pistons they are much better then single ring and reasonabley priced. I know this is not your call but id highly recommend it.

    • @Paisteboy
      @Paisteboy  3 года назад

      We'll look into the case splitting but Mark already ordered the pistons and rings so I'm sure we'll be proceeding with the single ring pistons.

    Love the "working on sleds" vids just as much as the riding videos. Good times when the boys get together to do sled work.

      For sure! We should be back in the garage on Saturday and hopefully have it in working order. Thanks for watching Eric.

    My 06 600 SDI has that same oil leak. I believe the seal between the cylinders is shot that also lubs the water pump bearings from the gravity fed tube from the oil tank. Mag side cylinder fills up with oil if you don't use the sled for a couple weeks. My engine needs a complete rebuild to fix those crank seals. 11500 miles on the engine so not too bad.

    Revs are known for the y pipe to come loose. I know it was the other side. But they have been known to blow due to leaning out in on one side. My rev limiter did that just without the cylinder popping yet. Lol

    • @Paisteboy
      @Paisteboy  3 года назад +1

      Yeah. That's what I was thinking too so I'm hoping that's all it was and can prove that with a good leak down test. We should be working on it again Saturday. Thanks for watching Dave.

    Those two carbs have the plastic adjusting mixture screw with the spring on them. Turn in until it starts to grab or tighten then back out a 1 1/2 turn. Not scientific for sure. Your bro saved that motor by shutting it down I bet. I can’t wait to ride.

    • @Paisteboy
      @Paisteboy  3 года назад

      Yeah. We'll dial them in when we finish it up. I'm actually really surprised that the damage wasn't worse. I can't wait to ride either. If there is snow, the trails open in Old Forge on December 7th and I'll be there! Otherwise trails locally don't open until after Christmas. Thanks for watching Craig.

    JUKE DUDE 🚬 glad to see ya when the PTO side burns down its possible that bearing is junk so at that point new crank But split the case to be shure or it will burn again trust me my friend was a grass drag racer and he used to burn down from PTO bearing failure caused by leaking seal after a new crank seals and bearing he was up and running I remember his main race sledd was a Mach Z I even asked Him check runout on the shaft

    • @Paisteboy
      @Paisteboy  3 года назад +1

      Yes. The funny thing is that the oil was heavier on the mag side. Not sure if that necessarily means anything but I guess we'll find out. I'll pass this on to Mark and see what he wants to do. Thanks for watching sheddski.

    • @Paisteboy

      lol. The real fix is a newer Doo with an e-tec. You also see that we have no issues with the rest of out sleds which are all Doos.
      Although if someone gives us a screaming deal on a newer cat he might go for it.

    Hi paiste, I know u guys don’t really ride at night, how ever if you’re looking for an upgrade for your sled and even Gary and shags, u guys should try out beam tech led headlights, they look a lot better and are way brighter than stock. And they’re 40$ on Amazon. Completely plug and play and the install on my gen 4 was probably 5 minutes. Throughout the skidoo groups and forums they’re the most recommended. Just thought I’d pitch the suggestion!

    The scoring looks to be result of the leak on the Y pipe. Was there similar scoring on the the intake side? If not this points to a air leak by the exhaust port which will cause a "hot spot"
    If the scoring is all the way around the piston, this points to a general lean condition, which is caused by a jetting issue or another air leak either from the intake boots or the crank seal.

Just remove the drive clutch and then remove the seal retainer plate. Ebay has seal and grease kits for a good price. Love the channel! Thanks....Jimmy

    02:06 nice heater Zuke! Nice different take on the rebuild project. I need that light. You’re right about the oil from the leaky Y pipe. The rev 800s are notorious for loose Ys . 90 psi is done... I would rebuild anything less than 110. Listen to Parker he knows

    • @Paisteboy
      @Paisteboy  3 года назад +1

      Right on. When it died on the trail last season and I had to tow him it was probably just way overloaded with un-burnt oil and struggling to run on 1 cylinder. Yes the 90 psi is toast for sure. It sounds better than zero but really isn't. Hopefully we'll be finishing it up this weekend.
      Had a blast Monday night btw. Please tell Rich & Bobby for me.

    How hard was it to get that engine out? I need to replace my primary oil seal so the engine needs to be pulled. While I'm at it, I'll put isoflex in the bearings if they are still ok. My compression is 137 each, but I may wind up doing that too this spring since I'm in there. Really pissed that seal is gone but that's what happens with a 15 year old sled I suppose.

    • @Paisteboy
      @Paisteboy  3 года назад

      To be honest Craig, it's kind of a pain. You have to remove the Y pipe, the rave valves, the airbox, the carbs, the primary clutch and the reed valves before you can pull the motor. Oh, and the starter motor if you have electric start. Be patient and do it when you have plenty of time. Good luck!

  • @0739John

    To me it looks like its running way to rich. To much wash on the pistons and carbon buildup. To much gas will wash the oil out the exhaust an cause piston failure. Worn slides an needles in the carbs will do this. Or incorrect jetting. Great job on the videos!

    • @Paisteboy
      @Paisteboy  3 года назад

      Thanks for sharing. I will mention this to Mark and take it into consideration. We should be finishing it up this weekend. Were just waiting for the isoflex grease for the crank bearing to come in. Should be he Friday.

    How many times has he rebuilt this sled?

    • @Paisteboy
      @Paisteboy  3 года назад

      This is actually the first rebuild on this motor. The other issues with this sled weren't the motor. Last year when we pulled the motor it was to extract the broken bolts from for the starter motor. He also had coil issues but fixed that in Old Forge in my trailer. It does seam like he has all the problems though. Thanks for watching Benny.
