    Heyy and thank you for watching. I realized after editing this that I directed the video toward college students when speaking about classes.. my bad . That happened because those are the people, I mainly get questions from but this video ANYONE looking into starting a career in EMS I hope it helped!!
    I filmed this video some time ago.. and a lot has changed since then I hope you all have been staying safe.
    In the state of NY if you are trained by and work for a volunteer EMS service you are edible to take the EMT course for free.
    I’ve been working as an EMS provider for Five Quad Volunteer Ambulance Service at my University for 2 years now working with EMTs paramedics and I just wanted to share my opinions and experience with yall. My bad for all the cuts I was talking for a longggg time

    I think it's incredible that with just a few months training they let you work on an emergency ambulance. In most of Australia only paramedics can work on them, and generally it's 3 years at university to get a Bachelor of Paramedicine, then if you gain employment, it's 12 months as an intern. We had a fellow who moved here from the US and got hired. He'd claimed to be a paramedic and had credentials to prove it. We found out while he was on his internship that in the US he was only trained to EMT level, had fake credentials and couldn't pass competency on a lot of skills and exams. Rather than sack him, he was offered a position on a non-emergency patient transport ambulance.

      I know a lot of campuses like community colleges only need about a 2.0 gpa or do a tsi test for their campus but the give you a free study guide. It’s relatively easy as long as you look over for about 20 mins a day then most offer the EMT course and my local college the course is only 1 semester long which is like 2 1/2 months with meeting only Monday and Wednesday

      Don’t let the thought of failure scare you away we all fail once or several times in life but we all get back up again. failure is part of succeeding. What’s the difference between an emt and a paramedic?

    • @xiaraflores2498
      @xiaraflores2498 4 года назад +5

      Emts provide basic medical care etc such as trauma vitals while paramedics are basically mini doctors capable of more intensive procedures

    • @preciousoriakhi
      @preciousoriakhi  4 года назад +3

      yes! the difference is in the their levels of education. paramedics can do ALOT more and it can take up to 18 to 24 months to become a paramedic depending on the program. both however transport people and give emergency care
