She wrote this song for the movie “She’s Having a Baby.” The song fades in after a woman delivers a baby, crashes, and her husband is sent to the waiting room. Everything about this song-fragility, starkness, the rushes and halts and echoes. She walks right into that hollow panic and takes with her anyone who listens. Brings me to tears every time. She’s a genius.
An amazing woman! How amazing? Watch the video titled “Moments of Pleasure” which is certainly one of the finest songs ever written ! She also show cases the talent of Michael Kamen in his most beautiful orchestral arrangement!
Great reaction Mister. Kate is simply one amazing artist. I’m not sure what to suggest as it looks like you are quite familiar with her discography. Lots of love ❤
Such great editing in this video. It appears his wife is alright at the end with the nurse smiling, but the closing of the piano case makes you wonder. Such a melancholy vibe Kate creates.
Hi and thanks for a really enjoyable reaction video to one the all time great songs by one of the all time great singers/song writers/ producers. "This Woman's Work" was originally written for the John Hughes movie "She's Having a Baby' to match some footage that had already been filmed, in which the hero of the movie is confronted by the possible death of his wife and unborn baby, and realizes that he has to finally grow up. Hughes had sent his Music Director, Tarquin Gotch to liaise with Kate Bush in order to get her to do the song. Gotch would later say that when Hughes finally heard the song for the first time he just said, 'Oh my God, that's brilliant' and wanted to extend the scene in order to use the entire song. The official video for the song replaces the father/wife/baby scenario to a more general, life threatening crisis for the woman. The video itself was directed by Kate Bush herself who also wrote the song, played it, and did all the vocals on it. For me personally, this is one of Kate Bush's most effective videos ("Army Dreamers" is also very effective - and is very current today, having undergone a significant rise in Spotify streams over recent weeks, rising from a few thousand per day to around 1/2 a million per day in the last few weeks), and to me, "This Woman's Work" really is a perfect combination of song, vocal and video. Thanks again. I really enjoyed this very much
This was a wonderful and clear explanation. Thank you very much Tommy for that. Her artistry is incredible. Writing, singing and producing everything so it matches her vision is really something else. And she does it well. I didn't watch the said movie but I kind of assumed what the story was according to the title, so I was pretty close with my guess. And Army Dreamers had such enticing lyrics that people can understand and feel instantly upon hearing. Thank you very much for watching and commenting!
Kate is a fabulous singer from England, but you must listen to more of that country's best. Phil Collins and Peter Gabriel should be at the top of your list.
Kate Bush is an incredible singer of the 80er. There are very few singers that can do justice to this song. This is Sam Ryder and Maxwell. I wish Gabriel Henrique did this song.

I always think the same! Is it case closed like all is ok or like a coffin lid?

As great as he is, I don't see Gabriel doing this so tenderly, you know what I mean?
Try listening to the song all the way through before interrupting it with inane drivel
It's a reaction...
Try watching the original music video rather than this one then.
