This wonderful woman is speaking saxophone jazz gospel. Learn what she is saying here, put in the time and whether you play professional or for hobby you will be in love with your instrument and the liberty her lesson will give. Great jazz musicians had the liberty to improvise they way they did because this concept was burned into their brains. Excellent excellent lesson in the video. I applaud you.
Thanks Vladimir :)
LOVELY CONTEMPLATING, JAZZ LASS... 😉🎷🎼🎺 Thank you for your INSPIRING films and tips/lessons 👍🏻
It's very refreshing to see women in the jazz environnement, thanks a lot for your advice !
Great inspiring tip... Your teachings anf advices are worth listening to and simultaneously to follow them.
Definitely agree about the resistance to learning, not just in music. These days the only obvious objective of school is to learn enough to be able to fill out an application for some dead end job that won't require any further study.
Great video very helpful thanks
Donna doctors don't have that many diplomas. hehehe. Just kidding. Love your enthusiam and channel.
Yes! Thank you!
Btw - In A Mellow Tone and In The Mood are both in Ab concert. Plus the bridges on a lot of standards modulate to remote keys at times.
Great advice. Just wondering if like the book “ Patterns for Jazz” by Jerry Coker?
Sorry, I just watched again. I hope to get through the whole book this year!
So, practically, do you ever play in C#, or always convert to Db? And do you ever think in Gb or just convert to F#, Cb or B?
Or do you learn to think in both equivalent keys depending on the context?
It depends on the context, but it is important, especially on alto, to know the enharmonics because we are usually playing in lots of sharps...
Great video 👍
Thanks so much Keyan!
GREAT
Would you recommend learning one key thoroughly before moving on to another, or working on all twelve keys simultaneously?
I tend to do both....if it's patterns - all 12 keys. If it's a tune and I need to learn it in different keys, then I focus on 1 at a time
Hi :) I have proposition :>
could You make video/videos about Harmonic Major cdefg a-flat b
and his modes?
You could tell something about diatonic chords
possibilities and limitations offered by this set of sound in improvisation
a few exercises etc what You say?
Material like that is best learned in a course or with a teacher to give you guidance
iIf you jam with a rock band you'll be playing in tenor sax B and F sharp all night - perhaps the occasional D if you're lucky.
Not necessarily - depends on the level of the jam. I play in pro jams and we are in all keys
Of course.
Well, play all the scales.
Yes, but there's a lot more to it then that :)

I'll buy you a drink...if you tell me something about the Coltrane Changes!!
I don't drink...
Played with too many guitar players, and every single one I've met likes to use those odd keys.
Because they want to use keys from the open strings (E A D G B)
Trust a guitar player to want to play in E 😂
LOL!
