What was your take on Elizabeth's expression when he kissed her hand? I felt that she was surprised she didn't feel more emotion from it...but then when she fanned herself outside the door, I didn't know what to think.
@@alicepahler7610 she was very surprised- considering they’re dating I’d expect a sweet smile, which didn’t happen. But overall they did feel attraction to each other and that’s why she fanned herself. I don’t think it means too much though, seeing as how they didn’t ever have that conversation they sat down for
I loved loved loved the scene..Elizabeth knew Lucas was hurting..bringing comfort to Lucas was a way to showed she cares..Lucas wants Elizabeth to be comfortable around him..he doesn’t want to pressure her ....he adores and loves her and so appreciative of her coming to see him..to me it shows the closeness they can share together..Elizabeth was moved by Lucas respect for her ..what a man..love our couple together..I don’t feel it was forced and awkward ..it was an intimate moment for both of them which was treated with respect♥️♥️❤️
You said that beautifully. I am team Nathan but I do appreciate Lucas. Though I don’t agree that there’s no awkwardness- please note I never said “forced”. Leaving immediately for the door and only turning then to not say anything does show it’s awkward! But who said awkward is bad? It’s just what happens in life. And Elizabeth being tense and a bit uncertain is not about Lucas - she’s being tense with everyone these days. She just has to process a lot in order to be able to move into a more intimate space with the next love of her life. Doesn’t matter who- she needs to process anyway
The problem with Lucas is he is a dominater. He assumes too much... like giving her book to his mother to look over... to offer to speak to Nathan... E is very strong, and doesn't like that... she didn't like it either with Rosemary.
@@darant2249 I don't think so- Team Lucas has also beeen saying that Nathan is pushy and I actually think neither of the guys is. I believe giving her book to his mother was an honest mistake- Elizabeth has had quite a few of those herself. What I find worse is how he insulted her after she didn't tell him about his parents- that was low of Lucas. And I just don't like how L&E fight, or rather not fight because Lucas doesn't really stay and talk about things lol
@@thelittlescenes1185 actually i was put off team Lucas in season 7 because I thought it was pushy of Lucas when Elizabeth had repeatedly declined to go on a date to then do a forced "if this were a date" date! and then paying for tickets to go to a book reading was also pushy because it is hard for someone to refuse something when someone has invested their time or money to get it for you. and then there was the ms. he sent to his mother which created a connection that would make it uncomfortable for Elizabeth if she did end up with Nathan rather than Lucas then there was the trying to meddle in her business with Nathan to supposedly just find out what had happened and then there was him telling Elizabeth that he would sort things out with Nathan when she didn't ask him to and was evidently displeased by and then there was just last night him telling Nathan to stop pressuring Elizabeth wich evidently annoyed Elizabeth but fortunately for us it spurred her on to go and talk to Nathan and tell him that she didn't blame him and it looks like in the preview for next week that she is beginning to open up to Nathan again so I was glad for him sticking his nose in things the last episode. but this is coming from a used to be team lucas fan I actually like his bad boy mystery air in season 6 but I found it flat when all he seemed to be doing in the storylines of season 7 was being a gentlemanly courter with grand gestures and not much interesting backstory or subplots other than romantic interest (or not interesting at all)

I though the whole no date date was really unfair and dishonest, then the book publishing, then insulting Elizabeth after she didn’t tell him his parents are separated...that’s too much. I’ve been team Nathan from the start but it’s interesting to hear that you weren’t and yet didn’t like how they have changed his character. If he were a good bad boy that’d be a much better story to tell. Now he’s just rich and nice.
That was a very intimate moment. Especially when Lucas kissed her hand. It has been awhile since she has had a man court her, yet alone kiss her hand. Hence, her fanning herself with the first sheet she found. Lucas must know she is still grieving. Or else he wouldn’t tell her he is patiently waiting. He must know Jack is still in her memories. He did look down at her hand for a while.
Food for thought: She wants to get close to Lucas but keeps him at arms length. She wants to keep Nathan at arms length but keeps getting close to him. When Nathan sat next to her she didn't tense up like she did with Lucas. She feels comfortable with Nathan, even though he is not the emotionally safe choice. Nathan represents everything that took Jack from her, and yet she finds herself drawn to him.
Love that! Your comments always make me think. Agree, he’s definitely not the safe choice in regards to heartbreak and loss. And yet he has a way of making her feel safe- I don’t know how to put it but with Nathan it’s not only that SHE trusts him, it’s that her soul trusts him too. To me they seem to be soul mates

@@jamesdaniels8007 yesss exactly and that fact is why there’s a triangle. If her heart wanted Lucas, there would be no triangle because there’s no obstacle: he does everything perfectly.
Thought about it. Concluded she can be more comfortable with Nathan now because she put him in the friends department. In contrast her opening her heart to love again puts her out of her comfort zone. Therefore she has not always been comfortable around Lucas.
I think that Nathan and Elizabeth have a much deeper and meaningful relationship. She has been on quite a number of 'dates' with Lucas yet still their conversation seems strained and very formal.
Everything, from both, seems forced. Neither are truly comfortable; Lucas because he knows Elizabeth just isn’t there with him, and Elizabeth because her connection with Nathan is deeper. She’s trying way too hard.
I think the handholding scene was meant for her to see Nathan differently once the blindfold was taken off. Since episode 4 when she said she is no longer seeing Nathan because she cannot give him what he wants - she has avoided him and if she confronts him, sometimes she accuses or criticizes him because she doesn't "see" him. She did choose Nathan while blindfolded because her heart did not her eyes that's why she said Lucas's name as a question. She hoped it was Lucas, but it wasn't. These are things she's going to think about once her heart is fully opened.
I feel that she's definitely attracted to Lucas, but I feel like there is something missing,a deeper connection. Attraction only goes so far... I also feel like Lucas is aware that she shares a deeper connection with Nathan. But, I feel like there is definitely attraction shared between Lucas and Elizabeth it's just a deeper connection that seems to be missing,if that makes sense?
I agree I think she attraction to Lucas. I even like Lucas. I wish would open up his life to Elizabeth. Elizabeth to open her life to him. Dating someone is more than Romance it's about opening up to that person. Elizabeth is still holding on to Jack. She is grief. Nathan and Lucas know this. This isn't about team Nathan or Team Lucas it's about Elizabeth journey.
I’m TL so admittedly I’m biased, but I’d say that the deeper connection that’s felt with Nathan is related to their shared connection with Jack. It’s rooted in deep pain for both E and N which is why it feels so real. Now that E knows the truth about J and N, I’m expecting that to resolve a bit. I’ll agree that Lucas and Elizabeth will go deeper now that she’s made a decision. I believe that he’s held back out of respect for her desire to move slowly. We’ll see more intimacy/vulnerability for them in S9.
Well yes, she shared Jack with Nathan but the serge isn’t reason enough for that...the longer you think about it the more ridiculous it gets- she didn’t have to process the whole Jack stuff with Nathan if she wasn’t going to be with him...it doesn’t make sense. She already grieved him in season 5 and they said they would move on from that. If she was going to be with Lucas they’d have to make the storyline with her seeing Jack in Lucas (with all the romance), get what I mean? Because if her love for Lucas is a lifetime love it would automatically remind her of her love for Jack....... But the way they told the story it made us expect Nathan as endgame because they actually overcame real struggles. Lucas and Elizabeth only overcame “Nathan” which is ridiculous. At least that’s the way Team Nathan sees it which is apparently over 60% or the fan base. I also don’t get why Lucas and Elizabeth wouldn’t share deep moments.. I mean he was constantly pushing her to show him physical affection so why is emotional intimacy so unthinkable. Why didn’t they open up to each other in the office scene, why didn’t he tell her about Christopher and Henry, why did he immediately lean in instead of actually talking to her...I don’t know, I don’t want you to personally feel attacked by my comment cause that’s not my intention. I’m just trying to convey how little sense this ending made to us on Team Nathan :((

I'm definitely out of the box. A woman whose hand a man kisses passionately (hand that squeezes and strokes at least 4 or 5 times her own and she 's unable to recognize) usually has two reactions. She feels a pleasant sensation and somehow demonstrates it, with small gestures or small smiles maybe hidden, or she doesn't feel what she hoped she would feel, and I read this scene in the latter way, a bell ringing. I'd like to compare the three hand-kisses that I remember, Jack, Bill, Lucas. Then it's possible that E will continue to push the relationship with Lucas and maybe eventually they will be able to show that you can force yourself to forget one love (for no reason), and over time replace it with another. We take into account that the opportunities offered to the two suitors (L / N) they are totally different and enormously biased in Lucas' favor.
Exactly- a smile would’ve made sense but she was too much in her head and less in her heart. That’s why I think it’s gonna be Nathan ...she hasn’t given him a chance. It’s all in Lucas favor
Honestly I’m on team Lucas but these scene analysis are so interesting. And I also feel like Elizabeth will end up choosing Nathan and I’m okay with that as long as she’s happy.
Yeah! Think at the end of the day, we have to give E the chance to choose with her heart ❤, and be happy! Its a journey in her life she had to go through, in life there are times like this too... so really it has to be her happiness .(secretly hope its Mountie 😉)
My feeling is Elizabeth is trying to move on with her love life, but seeing the wedding ring from Jack, she still missing Jack. Perhaps she's lonely... I doubt that Lucas is the answer...
Did she fan herself because of relief? Or because she got herself into a state of attraction and wasn't expecting it? Or was it the act of his kissing her hand reminded her of jack and that memory floated into her head?
I think the fanning herself + the rounded mouth exhale point to her doing so because of the “heat” she felt. It got a little hot in there, especially after Lucas kissed her hand.
I wish I had the answer to that one. When he kissed her hand, my initial impression was that she was surprised that she didn't feel more from it...so relief would make sense. Maybe that is just wishful thinking on my part though because I want her attraction to be with Nathan and only Nathan'
Maybe all of the above in some small way playing a part in her attraction to Lucas and his hand-holding gentle kiss, his gazes and his soft-spoken words to her ??? The fanning outside his office was so appropo that she was feeling all that just happened inside as actions do speak louder than words sometimes !!!! Loved this scene !!!
Wouldn't it be nice to be able to replay scenes from your own life and analyze them like this...where you could see exactly how you and the other person reacted, not just rely on your own memory, which is always tainted by your hopes and wishes.
In my observation, the interaction of Elizabeth and Lucas is very formal and seems forced. I don't doubt they are attracted to one other, but it is just superficial. Unlike Elizaberh and Nathan which seems to be deeper and heartfelt. #KINDNESS
@@maryioannides2122 Here is a thought. Why would you have to go pn a dated to know your feelings for a person are deeper and heartfelt? Elizabeth and Nathan have had so many conversations and interactions in the past 2 seasons to know that they have deep feelings for one another. #KINDNESS
First let me say I’m team Nathan however lucas is a charming handsome man. We all see he has romance down to a science and truly cares for E. Watching this scene you can see there is an attraction between them however it’s superficial at least right now. Because there haven’t been any real deep discussions which I think are essential. She has never spoken of her time with Jack or anything other than book stuff. I think he is overall a good man just not the right one for her. I actually think this is another time that E is trying to force something with Lucas she isn’t ready for. She is trying to do this I believe because she truly wants to believe she can find true love and happiness with someone other than Nathan. She won’t be ready until she removes her rings which will signify she is ready to leave Jack in her past. I honestly think serious conversations need to happen between E and both men individually. She either needs to tell Nathan she doesn’t love him which I don’t think she can or let Lucas know that she isn’t all in and end romance. Whether she is admitting it or not she is still floating between them. As for her fanning herself I think most if not all of us ladies would. I honestly think she was surprised that he only kissed her hand. But Grateful at same time. But as I said Lucas has been trying to treat her honorably and knows she is not in a good place. But after last episode and reflecting back I think he will maybe distance from her a little for self preservation.
Well put Sherri! What I notice is how tense they both appear to be! When Nathan sat by her outside the office, it wasn’t steamy or romantic, but they seem to be more at ease talking! Elizabeth and Lucas seem to be interested, but everything is stiff and formal!
Agree she needs to have some real conversations with both men- the church one was a first step for her and Lucas. And yes! She may have been forcing herself into doing something there that she wasn’t ready to do- we can’t say for sure, but it would make sense that Lucas felt that and that’s why he didn’t take it further
@@kathymcinturf2610 I agree her sitting with Nathan was less stiff. Still, what stuck with me from that scene was Nathan offering Elizabeth a blanket, she said no and he put it over her anyway. That‘s exactly what I do not like with E/N, what kind of a message does that send? Although I admit that Elizabeth did not seem to mind that much, for me this is a red flag. Elizabeth is more formal with Lucas but that is changing. When he was at her house and they talked about Nathan, the way they stood was much more casual than it used to be. There can be many reasons, I choose to believe that they use this.shift to show E/L growing closer to each other because they were somewhat restricted in their means of showing affection due to the pandemic.
Did you watch my analysis video on that? Nathan saw that she was shivering and he knew she was saying no because of their strained friendship- it was intuitive and that’s why he wasn’t off. It’s not only that she didn’t mind it- she said “I’m fine” but she accepted the blanket and put it around herself. He didn’t force it on her. He waited several times for her to actually say “No” and not just “I’m fine”. I don’t think you should let someone starve or freeze just because they are too proud to admit that they need help or care- that’s why I don’t agree with you labeling that as a red flag. Other than that, I agree there’s a shift especially with the church scene last ep. I’m exciting to see what will happen today!
I think you are very biased against Lucas in your analysis. I see this whole situation as proof they very much connect physically (in my opinion in other ways too). He moves toward Elizabeth to kiss her, but recalls the car scene ("Not yet!") and does the honorable thing: gently reminds her to leave. I think she looks out of breath as she also wanted to kiss him. Hence the turning around in the door, hesitating if she should leave. Lucas basically shot himself in the foot by putting her on a pedestal and so if she stayed, it wouldn't have been ladylike. 😅 Let's not forget: it might be rural Canada some 100 years ago, but young people were young people back then as well, they had human desires too. Elizabeth is a widow, not a virgin, she hasn't been physical with a man in years. That kiss on the hand was or at least can be a prelude to more. I cannot blame her for being stiff as she got up and walked out. 😁
After rewatching it I actually don’t think he was leaning in to kiss her anymore. Slowing it down looked like he was leaning in WHILE he had already started saying that he wants her to leave. And I think that’s because of the ring on her finger. And that makes me like him more. I’m sorry that you feel I’m biased against Lucas- I still see that there is no natural flow in their moments together, there’s a lot of anxiety with Elizabeth (she has this with Nathan too) and they don’t YET feel completely at ease with one another. The part where she turned around was rather awkward (what’s so bad about that? All her scenes with Nathan have awkwardness too!) and I did actually say that she felt attracted to him- she was the one who started looking down at his mouth, not him. So I’m not disagreeing there. But see the infirmary scene and this same moment of attraction has also happened with Nathan (several times) - so it’s not just with Lucas and right now I’d say Nathan is definitely one up on Lucas in regards of highly emotional and open/vulnerable conversation. You don’t have to agree, but I definitely see a difference there.

What I appreciate is that you are open-minded and consider other opinions. You provide a platform for discussion rather than making a contest of who cries loudest TN or TL. This is not about who loves her more. This is ultimately about who Elizabeth loves unconditionally. Who her heart sings for. Last week we saw her grieving. She holds her ring and she keeps it on. Is she ready. We shall see before the season ends.
Dana says- I love these analysis videos and, though I am Team Nathan all the way, I think that Elizabeth is physically attracted to Lucas (and Nathan). Her fanning herself showed that Elizabeth was feeling the "heat" from his hand kiss. It doesn't worry me because I know that just because a person feels attraction and heat from someone, that doesn't mean they are in love with that person. Even with Lucas's charms, and his care for Elizabeth, the heart wants what the heart wants, and though she has been running from Nathan due to her fears, I have faith that she will figure things out and follow her TRUE heart's desire.
I'm team Nathan but this scene was a bit confusing to me. Is this indeed a strong attraction or something else? Because while she has encouraged Lucas to pursue her she has at times kept him at an arm's length. The Elizabeth from previous seasons wouldn't encourage someone to this degree without intending something. So if she doesn't choose Lucas I will be interested to see how the writers explain scenes/behaviour like this.
Fleeing is the right word. Her head says Lucas is the logical solution he and he "won't die" which is preposterous...Seems to recoil when he kissed her hand.
I just feel they are both too formal with each other and not just awkward, by now they should have had a conversation about their relationship and her life etc. They have had many dinners, overnight trip and dinner, flowers, picnics, horseback riding, the works. They should not be talking to each other like if they are at 1st base, Nathan has said more to her in 2 encounters than Lucas has said in 2 seasons, I personally think that Hallmark stretched this out for the ratings and failed in really giving us substance in this part of the show. They have just tugged on the romantic strings of their audience and milked it until it is now silly. Carson and Faith, real issue that is worth our attention, Rosemary and Lee issues of childlessness. They tug at my heart, this triangle has lost its essence for me. Ready to pack my bags and go with Carson.
That last sentence made me laugh! I feel you. They did drag the triangle out, oh well- it’s too late to change that. But I really hope they make it worth our time in the end!

I so wish Lee & Rosemary could have a little baby... or twins would be hysterical.. boy/girl... they could grow up with LJ and she could marry LJ...I picture E sitting and looking over in the field, the land Jack bought for them. Remembering she & Jack riding there, kissing, making plans Jack bought to build a home and raise their family. Then E would give the land Jack & Little Rose as their wedding gift. I think it would be a Great Way to end the series.
@gail price, I like that idea very much, R n Lee having their own kids and growing up close with LJ...never triangles again not fair also that Lucas and Elizabeth gets negative criticism for their roles (and stuff that puts fans against each other!) HM writers and BBird shd try listening to their millions of Hearties ...as this is the most watched tv series right now...
That argument only works i the Lucas crap had HELPED ratings and it did not, so they only hurt themselves. Good thing they're finally correcting that mistake.

I've been listening to interviews and have the biggest smile on my face! You are all amazing and I have enjoyed this season sooo much! Definitely a highlight of my year! I uhm love Elizabeth and Lucas and wish Nathan the best! I loved how Chris humbly thanked the fans! That was heart felt! We didn't get to see much of Elizabeth and Lucas tonight...episode 9...but I have faith and we'll be seeing more if them soon!
Remember there are those you are attracted to and those you marry. L is charming. But E is deep..family n making a difference is most important to her. L has never pays attention to LJ. Might say hi. Then takes all her attention. Don't think a good dad for LJ
Yes, remember that Elizabeth thinks she has made her decision to not be with Nathan- she is of course going to try to move forward with Lucas...but slowly realizing that it’s not quite that easy. The heart doesn’t stop talking/“sabotaging” until you listen to it!
Who wouldn't get hot and flustered sitting by Chris McNally, much less holding hands with him?! But the truth is, he's not THE ONE. Lucas is a good guy. He obviously senses that. He may very well be a better friend to Elizabeth than she realizes. It's Nathan. It's always been Nathan.
I don't why but got the feeling they both playing a game! They never had a conversation heart to heart. Lucas has to much secrets. He is probably in love but he seems taken at his own game. Don't forget that he is a gambler. I think Elizabeth gets lost in this relationship.
Please, please tell me what secrets are you talking about! I see them talking very openly about things, even his business. She told him she wants to share things with him, she openly walks with him hand in hand. Waltzes into his office very clearly marked "PRIVATE", where she is welcome. Yes, there are things, like the Christopher thing he held back, but that was nothing that concerns her. He was safeguarding his business from Henry, who in all honesty not trustworthy, so cannot blame Lucas for checking on him.
Yes, so far we on,y know about Christopher- and I don’t think the gambling means he is a bad man. I agree that they are having a hard time speaking soul to soul- they were supposed to sit and talk but they never had the talk...that’s generally not a good sign
@@majagara I just re watch the episod when Lucas bought the saloon. Bill looked for informations in New Orleans about Lucas... He was unknown, where did he got all the money he had? Who was the lady with whom he was speaking on the phone just when he arrived in HV. Lots of little things which make him mysterious about who he is really. He can be kind with Elisabeth but shows some impatience, jealousy when it comes to Nathan. He is not as confident as that about the feelings of E. I've not saw them share so much things. It's always superficial... Anyway we saw what we want 😊😊
@@thelittlescenes1185: I don't think they need to touch on the subject of quantum physics to know if they are compatible. 😉 I met my husband online, for months we spoke hours daily. About everything. Small things that happened that day, books, music, languages, etc. Likes, dislikes. We haven't touched on deeper subjects until our first actual meeting, when we realised we are not only friends, but want more. We were not young, so shortly after the first kiss we talked family plans and so on. Not before that. Until than it was banter. Just like Lucas and Elizabeth. At ease with each other. I feel that between and Elizabeth there is a spark, but also a stack of dynamite. They have to tip-toe around or there is a fight about something. She did have the easy banter kind of love with Jack. It suited her, it was warm and fuzzy. I did want Nathan to make a move earlier, but then hot the feeling that he missed his chance and should have let Elizabeth be happy with Lucas at that point. I think Rosemary is right: right now he's just causing unnecessary pain to them.
@@majagara I dont think lucas has secrets but I do think he guards his heart like he plays cards. If he reads the situation that there's a good chance, he'll take a risk. But since he's having a hard time reading Elizabeth, he's holding his cards "heart or secret sorrows and joys" close to his chest waiting for a sign from Elizabeth. In the episode where she walks in his private office and wants to talk: the first time she is turned away because of business and they talk on the street about Allie and rejection, they say they'll talk at dinner. After Christopher's accusation, you see Lucas hurt by it and Elizabeth trying to make him feel better. She wants to talk but he deflects it into something physically and tells her to leave - that was a missed opportunity for them both to deepen their relationship.
On an interview with Erin she talked about how patient Lucas was during the triangle... " Even when she didn't want him to be". I expect she was talking about the office scene. So if she looked uncomfortable I think it was because she realized that if Lucas had not stopped the kiss she would have kissed him.
Thank you for doing this!! I'm Team Nathan 110%, but I've always seen that there is an attraction to Lucas. It does appear to be more superficial, though. Lucas does everything right. What girl wouldn't be attracted?? But she only opens her heart up to Nathan, thus, a deeper connection with him. Can't wait to see how things play out!! 👏👏
Thanks Kerri! There’s a reason why hallmark labeled the scene “steamy” lol. Can’t deny the attraction. But also can’t deny she had it with Nathan too (Christmas scene, infirmary, open serge saloon). And more...can’t wait for today❤️
This is such a sweet moment from Lucas. And as physically intimate and as high as the attraction may be... they still haven't had intimate talks like Nathan and Elizabeth. Emotional intimacy is lacking. Nathan and Elizabeth have had so much emotional intimacy from talks of Allie and Baby Jack, now grown Jack, to losing someone you love, to talking about Nathan's father, to Elizabeth's grief losing Jack, to how Allie will view Nathan, Elizabeth prods Nathan for more information. She never prods Lucas. Even when Lucas is clearly hiding how he feels, or hiding situations, she never demands him tell her anything.
And anytime there's a conversation that should be deep and meaningful, they automatically go, "Let's wait for dinner," and then both back out. If this was Nathan, she'd be demanding to know why Chris was accusing Lucas of certain situations. She'd demand he tell her how he's feeling. She'd do it in public if she had to...
Maybe that is because she is more confident that Lucas will tell her the important stuff in his own good time? And when was Lucas clearly hiding how he feels? It‘s all there if Elizabeth wants to see it. Not saying the words is not hiding how he feels. E/L talked about her dreams (writing), his dreams (finding his soulmate and settling down with a family), how what they are doing affects other people, Lucas‘ concerns about Henry and the oil company and how he ended up with a business he has got no clue about, his troubles to understand how his parents could separate,. These are also intimate topics they would not share with just anyone, and only because they may display their emotions differently, it doesn’t mean they are not there. Out of interest because I cannot remember such a scene: When did Elizabeth talk to Nathan about her grief? Or do you refer to the recent scene outside the infirmary? Because if I remember that one correctly it was basically asking Nathan one question and getting one very short answer.
Here's what I've always thought. There's that moment in which she says thank you for your patience and he kisses her hand. And she looks away almost as if to say "why didn't that work?" All the signs were there. elizabeth really was showing Lucas she was open and he didn't even try.... It felt awkward and while she was fanning herself I wonder if it's less from desire and more from flustered frustration. DONT GET ME WRONG. I hope she ends up with Nathan. I think there is a chemistry between them that is off the charts when they are actually interacting. my heart is sad will be just sad for Lucas too. Over all I do think Lucas is a wonderful man worthy of a woman's love and affection.
I am very certain that the fanning was used for comedy and is in relation to the attraction, no frustration there. But I agree! Nathan & Elizabeth are already more in a relationship without dating than Lucas and E, who are dating.
I think the fanning could also be from a bit of embarrassment. Clearly, Elizabeth put herself out there and Lucas told her to leave...in the most respectful, gentlemanly way possible, but still. Maybe it was just her being like “shouldn’t have done that”?

For some reason I always find this scene inappropriate. Not sure why. Hadn't Lucas had an argument with Henry's son in front of everybody right before this scene? He blamed Lucas for his dad's health issues or something like that. I can't recall it exactly. So this scene happened after that, I feel that Lucas was still upset about that, and it was a bad moment for this little heated situation between them. Maybe that's why Elizabeth acted weirdly because with her heart she wanted to have an intimate moment with Lucas but she sensed at the same time that the energy was not right for this. I felt lots of contradiction and disharmony about this scene. Anybody else felt the same?
I think she is trying to force a "closeness" with Lucas because she knows he is disappointed by her responses to Nathan's I love you. But, try as she may, it does not come off very natural, and it didn't fool him.

I think it’s funny how each of the teams feel or see something different from the scene and actors. It will be nice to finally see how the writes portrayed and try to look back and see where they were coming from.

She made a choice not to be with Nathan - but not the choice to be with Lucas and she specifically said so to Rosemary. But dating Lucas isn’t the final choice, she obviously has yet to face her feelings for Nathan and tell him “I won’t” instead of “I can’t”.
I got really excited at the beginning of this scene because E said she wanted to talk and I thought here is the chance for the blow to be softened if she picks Lucas. They are finally going to have a meaningful conversation about their feelings and then...Lucas doesn't want to kiss her before she is ready and tells her she should go. Argh! As much as I appreciate his gentlemanly behavior why couldn't he just TALK to her for a while. I think Lucas is a great guy but until I feel like he can have an important conversation with Elizabeth I will struggle with the pairing.

What was your take on Elizabeth's expression when he kissed her hand? I felt that she was surprised she didn't feel more emotion from it...but then when she fanned herself outside the door, I didn't know what to think.

But overall they did feel attraction to each other and that’s why she fanned herself. I don’t think it means too much though, seeing as how they didn’t ever have that conversation they sat down for

I loved loved loved the scene..Elizabeth knew Lucas was hurting..bringing comfort to Lucas was a way to showed she cares..Lucas wants Elizabeth to be comfortable around him..he doesn’t want to pressure her ....he adores and loves her and so appreciative of her coming to see him..to me it shows the closeness they can share together..Elizabeth was moved by Lucas respect for her ..what a man..love our couple together..I don’t feel it was forced and awkward ..it was an intimate moment for both of them which was treated with respect♥️♥️❤️
You said that beautifully. I am team Nathan but I do appreciate Lucas. Though I don’t agree that there’s no awkwardness- please note I never said “forced”. Leaving immediately for the door and only turning then to not say anything does show it’s awkward! But who said awkward is bad? It’s just what happens in life.
And Elizabeth being tense and a bit uncertain is not about Lucas - she’s being tense with everyone these days. She just has to process a lot in order to be able to move into a more intimate space with the next love of her life. Doesn’t matter who- she needs to process anyway
The problem with Lucas is he is a dominater. He assumes too much... like giving her book to his mother to look over... to offer to speak to Nathan... E is very strong, and doesn't like that... she didn't like it either with Rosemary.

I believe giving her book to his mother was an honest mistake- Elizabeth has had quite a few of those herself.
What I find worse is how he insulted her after she didn't tell him about his parents- that was low of Lucas. And I just don't like how L&E fight, or rather not fight because Lucas doesn't really stay and talk about things lol
@@thelittlescenes1185 actually i was put off team Lucas in season 7 because I thought it was pushy of Lucas when Elizabeth had repeatedly declined to go on a date to then do a forced "if this were a date" date! and then paying for tickets to go to a book reading was also pushy because it is hard for someone to refuse something when someone has invested their time or money to get it for you. and then there was the ms. he sent to his mother which created a connection that would make it uncomfortable for Elizabeth if she did end up with Nathan rather than Lucas then there was the trying to meddle in her business with Nathan to supposedly just find out what had happened and then there was him telling Elizabeth that he would sort things out with Nathan when she didn't ask him to and was evidently displeased by and then there was just last night him telling Nathan to stop pressuring Elizabeth wich evidently annoyed Elizabeth but fortunately for us it spurred her on to go and talk to Nathan and tell him that she didn't blame him and it looks like in the preview for next week that she is beginning to open up to Nathan again so I was glad for him sticking his nose in things the last episode. but this is coming from a used to be team lucas fan I actually like his bad boy mystery air in season 6 but I found it flat when all he seemed to be doing in the storylines of season 7 was being a gentlemanly courter with grand gestures and not much interesting backstory or subplots other than romantic interest (or not interesting at all)

I’ve been team Nathan from the start but it’s interesting to hear that you weren’t and yet didn’t like how they have changed his character. If he were a good bad boy that’d be a much better story to tell. Now he’s just rich and nice.
That was a very intimate moment. Especially when Lucas kissed her hand. It has been awhile since she has had a man court her, yet alone kiss her hand. Hence, her fanning herself with the first sheet she found. Lucas must know she is still grieving. Or else he wouldn’t tell her he is patiently waiting. He must know Jack is still in her memories. He did look down at her hand for a while.
Food for thought: She wants to get close to Lucas but keeps him at arms length. She wants to keep Nathan at arms length but keeps getting close to him. When Nathan sat next to her she didn't tense up like she did with Lucas. She feels comfortable with Nathan, even though he is not the emotionally safe choice. Nathan represents everything that took Jack from her, and yet she finds herself drawn to him.

Thought about it. Concluded she can be more comfortable with Nathan now because she put him in the friends department. In contrast her opening her heart to love again puts her out of her comfort zone. Therefore she has not always been comfortable around Lucas.
I think that Nathan and Elizabeth have a much deeper and meaningful relationship. She has been on quite a number of 'dates' with Lucas yet still their conversation seems strained and very formal.

I think the handholding scene was meant for her to see Nathan differently once the blindfold was taken off. Since episode 4 when she said she is no longer seeing Nathan because she cannot give him what he wants - she has avoided him and if she confronts him, sometimes she accuses or criticizes him because she doesn't "see" him. She did choose Nathan while blindfolded because her heart did not her eyes that's why she said Lucas's name as a question. She hoped it was Lucas, but it wasn't. These are things she's going to think about once her heart is fully opened.

I’m TL so admittedly I’m biased, but I’d say that the deeper connection that’s felt with Nathan is related to their shared connection with Jack. It’s rooted in deep pain for both E and N which is why it feels so real. Now that E knows the truth about J and N, I’m expecting that to resolve a bit. I’ll agree that Lucas and Elizabeth will go deeper now that she’s made a decision. I believe that he’s held back out of respect for her desire to move slowly. We’ll see more intimacy/vulnerability for them in S9.
Well yes, she shared Jack with Nathan but the serge isn’t reason enough for that...the longer you think about it the more ridiculous it gets- she didn’t have to process the whole Jack stuff with Nathan if she wasn’t going to be with him...it doesn’t make sense. She already grieved him in season 5 and they said they would move on from that. If she was going to be with Lucas they’d have to make the storyline with her seeing Jack in Lucas (with all the romance), get what I mean? Because if her love for Lucas is a lifetime love it would automatically remind her of her love for Jack.......
But the way they told the story it made us expect Nathan as endgame because they actually overcame real struggles. Lucas and Elizabeth only overcame “Nathan” which is ridiculous. At least that’s the way Team Nathan sees it which is apparently over 60% or the fan base.
I also don’t get why Lucas and Elizabeth wouldn’t share deep moments.. I mean he was constantly pushing her to show him physical affection so why is emotional intimacy so unthinkable. Why didn’t they open up to each other in the office scene, why didn’t he tell her about Christopher and Henry, why did he immediately lean in instead of actually talking to her...I don’t know, I don’t want you to personally feel attacked by my comment cause that’s not my intention. I’m just trying to convey how little sense this ending made to us on Team Nathan :((

I'm definitely out of the box. A woman whose hand a man kisses passionately (hand that squeezes and strokes at least 4 or 5 times her own and she 's unable to recognize) usually has two reactions. She feels a pleasant sensation and somehow demonstrates it, with small gestures or small smiles maybe hidden, or she doesn't feel what she hoped she would feel, and I read this scene in the latter way, a bell ringing. I'd like to compare the three hand-kisses that I remember, Jack, Bill, Lucas. Then it's possible that E will continue to push the relationship with Lucas and maybe eventually they will be able to show that you can force yourself to forget one love (for no reason), and over time replace it with another.
We take into account that the opportunities offered to the two suitors (L / N) they are totally different and enormously biased in Lucas' favor.

I think the fanning herself + the rounded mouth exhale point to her doing so because of the “heat” she felt. It got a little hot in there, especially after Lucas kissed her hand.
I wish I had the answer to that one. When he kissed her hand, my initial impression was that she was surprised that she didn't feel more from it...so relief would make sense. Maybe that is just wishful thinking on my part though because I want her attraction to be with Nathan and only Nathan'

In my observation, the interaction of Elizabeth and Lucas is very formal and seems forced. I don't doubt they are attracted to one other, but it is just superficial. Unlike Elizaberh and Nathan which seems to be deeper and heartfelt. #KINDNESS

First let me say I’m team Nathan however lucas is a charming handsome man. We all see he has romance down to a science and truly cares for E. Watching this scene you can see there is an attraction between them however it’s superficial at least right now. Because there haven’t been any real deep discussions which I think are essential. She has never spoken of her time with Jack or anything other than book stuff. I think he is overall a good man just not the right one for her. I actually think this is another time that E is trying to force something with Lucas she isn’t ready for. She is trying to do this I believe because she truly wants to believe she can find true love and happiness with someone other than Nathan. She won’t be ready until she removes her rings which will signify she is ready to leave Jack in her past. I honestly think serious conversations need to happen between E and both men individually. She either needs to tell Nathan she doesn’t love him which I don’t think she can or let Lucas know that she isn’t all in and end romance. Whether she is admitting it or not she is still floating between them. As for her fanning herself I think most if not all of us ladies would. I honestly think she was surprised that he only kissed her hand. But Grateful at same time. But as I said Lucas has been trying to treat her honorably and knows she is not in a good place. But after last episode and reflecting back I think he will maybe distance from her a little for self preservation.
Well put Sherri! What I notice is how tense they both appear to be! When Nathan sat by her outside the office, it wasn’t steamy or romantic, but they seem to be more at ease talking! Elizabeth and Lucas seem to be interested, but everything is stiff and formal!
Agree she needs to have some real conversations with both men- the church one was a first step for her and Lucas. And yes! She may have been forcing herself into doing something there that she wasn’t ready to do- we can’t say for sure, but it would make sense that Lucas felt that and that’s why he didn’t take it further

@@kathymcinturf2610 I agree her sitting with Nathan was less stiff. Still, what stuck with me from that scene was Nathan offering Elizabeth a blanket, she said no and he put it over her anyway. That‘s exactly what I do not like with E/N, what kind of a message does that send? Although I admit that Elizabeth did not seem to mind that much, for me this is a red flag.
Elizabeth is more formal with Lucas but that is changing. When he was at her house and they talked about Nathan, the way they stood was much more casual than it used to be. There can be many reasons, I choose to believe that they use this.shift to show E/L growing closer to each other because they were somewhat restricted in their means of showing affection due to the pandemic.
Did you watch my analysis video on that? Nathan saw that she was shivering and he knew she was saying no because of their strained friendship- it was intuitive and that’s why he wasn’t off. It’s not only that she didn’t mind it- she said “I’m fine” but she accepted the blanket and put it around herself. He didn’t force it on her. He waited several times for her to actually say “No” and not just “I’m fine”.
I don’t think you should let someone starve or freeze just because they are too proud to admit that they need help or care- that’s why I don’t agree with you labeling that as a red flag.
Other than that, I agree there’s a shift especially with the church scene last ep. I’m exciting to see what will happen today!
I think you are very biased against Lucas in your analysis. I see this whole situation as proof they very much connect physically (in my opinion in other ways too). He moves toward Elizabeth to kiss her, but recalls the car scene ("Not yet!") and does the honorable thing: gently reminds her to leave. I think she looks out of breath as she also wanted to kiss him. Hence the turning around in the door, hesitating if she should leave. Lucas basically shot himself in the foot by putting her on a pedestal and so if she stayed, it wouldn't have been ladylike. 😅 Let's not forget: it might be rural Canada some 100 years ago, but young people were young people back then as well, they had human desires too. Elizabeth is a widow, not a virgin, she hasn't been physical with a man in years. That kiss on the hand was or at least can be a prelude to more. I cannot blame her for being stiff as she got up and walked out. 😁
After rewatching it I actually don’t think he was leaning in to kiss her anymore. Slowing it down looked like he was leaning in WHILE he had already started saying that he wants her to leave. And I think that’s because of the ring on her finger. And that makes me like him more.
I’m sorry that you feel I’m biased against Lucas- I still see that there is no natural flow in their moments together, there’s a lot of anxiety with Elizabeth (she has this with Nathan too) and they don’t YET feel completely at ease with one another. The part where she turned around was rather awkward (what’s so bad about that? All her scenes with Nathan have awkwardness too!) and I did actually say that she felt attracted to him- she was the one who started looking down at his mouth, not him. So I’m not disagreeing there.
But see the infirmary scene and this same moment of attraction has also happened with Nathan (several times) - so it’s not just with Lucas and right now I’d say Nathan is definitely one up on Lucas in regards of highly emotional and open/vulnerable conversation. You don’t have to agree, but I definitely see a difference there.

Dana says- I love these analysis videos and, though I am Team Nathan all the way, I think that Elizabeth is physically attracted to Lucas (and Nathan). Her fanning herself showed that Elizabeth was feeling the "heat" from his hand kiss. It doesn't worry me because I know that just because a person feels attraction and heat from someone, that doesn't mean they are in love with that person. Even with Lucas's charms, and his care for Elizabeth, the heart wants what the heart wants, and though she has been running from Nathan due to her fears, I have faith that she will figure things out and follow her TRUE heart's desire.

I'm team Nathan but this scene was a bit confusing to me. Is this indeed a strong attraction or something else? Because while she has encouraged Lucas to pursue her she has at times kept him at an arm's length. The Elizabeth from previous seasons wouldn't encourage someone to this degree without intending something. So if she doesn't choose Lucas I will be interested to see how the writers explain scenes/behaviour like this.

I just feel they are both too formal with each other and not just awkward, by now they should have had a conversation about their relationship and her life etc. They have had many dinners, overnight trip and dinner, flowers, picnics, horseback riding, the works. They should not be talking to each other like if they are at 1st base, Nathan has said more to her in 2 encounters than Lucas has said in 2 seasons, I personally think that Hallmark stretched this out for the ratings and failed in really giving us substance in this part of the show. They have just tugged on the romantic strings of their audience and milked it until it is now silly. Carson and Faith, real issue that is worth our attention, Rosemary and Lee issues of childlessness. They tug at my heart, this triangle has lost its essence for me. Ready to pack my bags and go with Carson.
That last sentence made me laugh! I feel you. They did drag the triangle out, oh well- it’s too late to change that. But I really hope they make it worth our time in the end!
Gail Price..... I so wish Lee & Rosemary could have a little baby... or twins would be hysterical.. boy/girl... they could grow up with LJ and she could marry LJ...I picture E sitting and looking over in the field, the land Jack bought for them. Remembering she & Jack riding there, kissing, making plans Jack bought to build a home and raise their family. Then E would give the land Jack & Little Rose as their wedding gift. I think it would be a Great Way to end the series.
@gail price, I like that idea very much, R n Lee having their own kids and growing up close with LJ...never triangles again not fair also that Lucas and Elizabeth gets negative criticism for their roles (and stuff that puts fans against each other!) HM writers and BBird shd try listening to their millions of Hearties ...as this is the most watched tv series right now...
That argument only works i the Lucas crap had HELPED ratings and it did not, so they only hurt themselves. Good thing they're finally correcting that mistake.

I've been listening to interviews and have the biggest smile on my face! You are all amazing and I have enjoyed this season sooo much! Definitely a highlight of my year! I uhm love Elizabeth and Lucas and wish Nathan the best! I loved how Chris humbly thanked the fans! That was heart felt! We didn't get to see much of Elizabeth and Lucas tonight...episode 9...but I have faith and we'll be seeing more if them soon!

Yes, remember that Elizabeth thinks she has made her decision to not be with Nathan- she is of course going to try to move forward with Lucas...but slowly realizing that it’s not quite that easy. The heart doesn’t stop talking/“sabotaging” until you listen to it!
Please do the one where Elizabeth first meets Nathan.
Who wouldn't get hot and flustered sitting by Chris McNally, much less holding hands with him?! But the truth is, he's not THE ONE. Lucas is a good guy. He obviously senses that. He may very well be a better friend to Elizabeth than she realizes. It's Nathan. It's always been Nathan.

I don't why but got the feeling they both playing a game! They never had a conversation heart to heart. Lucas has to much secrets. He is probably in love but he seems taken at his own game. Don't forget that he is a gambler. I think Elizabeth gets lost in this relationship.
Please, please tell me what secrets are you talking about! I see them talking very openly about things, even his business. She told him she wants to share things with him, she openly walks with him hand in hand. Waltzes into his office very clearly marked "PRIVATE", where she is welcome. Yes, there are things, like the Christopher thing he held back, but that was nothing that concerns her. He was safeguarding his business from Henry, who in all honesty not trustworthy, so cannot blame Lucas for checking on him.
Yes, so far we on,y know about Christopher- and I don’t think the gambling means he is a bad man.
I agree that they are having a hard time speaking soul to soul- they were supposed to sit and talk but they never had the talk...that’s generally not a good sign
@@majagara I just re watch the episod when Lucas bought the saloon. Bill looked for informations in New Orleans about Lucas... He was unknown, where did he got all the money he had? Who was the lady with whom he was speaking on the phone just when he arrived in HV. Lots of little things which make him mysterious about who he is really.
He can be kind with Elisabeth but shows some impatience, jealousy when it comes to Nathan. He is not as confident as that about the feelings of E.
I've not saw them share so much things. It's always superficial...

@@thelittlescenes1185: I don't think they need to touch on the subject of quantum physics to know if they are compatible. 😉 I met my husband online, for months we spoke hours daily. About everything. Small things that happened that day, books, music, languages, etc. Likes, dislikes. We haven't touched on deeper subjects until our first actual meeting, when we realised we are not only friends, but want more. We were not young, so shortly after the first kiss we talked family plans and so on. Not before that. Until than it was banter. Just like Lucas and Elizabeth. At ease with each other. I feel that between and Elizabeth there is a spark, but also a stack of dynamite. They have to tip-toe around or there is a fight about something. She did have the easy banter kind of love with Jack. It suited her, it was warm and fuzzy. I did want Nathan to make a move earlier, but then hot the feeling that he missed his chance and should have let Elizabeth be happy with Lucas at that point. I think Rosemary is right: right now he's just causing unnecessary pain to them.
@@majagara I dont think lucas has secrets but I do think he guards his heart like he plays cards. If he reads the situation that there's a good chance, he'll take a risk. But since he's having a hard time reading Elizabeth, he's holding his cards "heart or secret sorrows and joys" close to his chest waiting for a sign from Elizabeth. In the episode where she walks in his private office and wants to talk: the first time she is turned away because of business and they talk on the street about Allie and rejection, they say they'll talk at dinner. After Christopher's accusation, you see Lucas hurt by it and Elizabeth trying to make him feel better. She wants to talk but he deflects it into something physically and tells her to leave - that was a missed opportunity for them both to deepen their relationship.
On an interview with Erin she talked about how patient Lucas was during the triangle... " Even when she didn't want him to be". I expect she was talking about the office scene. So if she looked uncomfortable I think it was because she realized that if Lucas had not stopped the kiss she would have kissed him.
She may be dating Lucas but she is not certain about taking it to the next level.
Thank you for doing this!! I'm Team Nathan 110%, but I've always seen that there is an attraction to Lucas. It does appear to be more superficial, though. Lucas does everything right. What girl wouldn't be attracted?? But she only opens her heart up to Nathan, thus, a deeper connection with him. Can't wait to see how things play out!! 👏👏

This is such a sweet moment from Lucas. And as physically intimate and as high as the attraction may be... they still haven't had intimate talks like Nathan and Elizabeth. Emotional intimacy is lacking. Nathan and Elizabeth have had so much emotional intimacy from talks of Allie and Baby Jack, now grown Jack, to losing someone you love, to talking about Nathan's father, to Elizabeth's grief losing Jack, to how Allie will view Nathan, Elizabeth prods Nathan for more information. She never prods Lucas. Even when Lucas is clearly hiding how he feels, or hiding situations, she never demands him tell her anything.
And anytime there's a conversation that should be deep and meaningful, they automatically go, "Let's wait for dinner," and then both back out. If this was Nathan, she'd be demanding to know why Chris was accusing Lucas of certain situations. She'd demand he tell her how he's feeling. She'd do it in public if she had to...

E/L talked about her dreams (writing), his dreams (finding his soulmate and settling down with a family), how what they are doing affects other people, Lucas‘ concerns about Henry and the oil company and how he ended up with a business he has got no clue about, his troubles to understand how his parents could separate,. These are also intimate topics they would not share with just anyone, and only because they may display their emotions differently, it doesn’t mean they are not there.
Out of interest because I cannot remember such a scene: When did Elizabeth talk to Nathan about her grief? Or do you refer to the recent scene outside the infirmary? Because if I remember that one correctly it was basically asking Nathan one question and getting one very short answer.
Lucas is a great guy but not the one for Elizabeth. She’s in love with Nathan. I hope Lucas finds a great girl that he deserves!

Here's what I've always thought. There's that moment in which she says thank you for your patience and he kisses her hand. And she looks away almost as if to say "why didn't that work?"
All the signs were there. elizabeth really was showing Lucas she was open and he didn't even try.... It felt awkward and while she was fanning herself I wonder if it's less from desire and more from flustered frustration.
DONT GET ME WRONG. I hope she ends up with Nathan. I think there is a chemistry between them that is off the charts when they are actually interacting. my heart is sad will be just sad for Lucas too. Over all I do think Lucas is a wonderful man worthy of a woman's love and affection.
I am very certain that the fanning was used for comedy and is in relation to the attraction, no frustration there.
But I agree! Nathan & Elizabeth are already more in a relationship without dating than Lucas and E, who are dating.
I think the fanning could also be from a bit of embarrassment. Clearly, Elizabeth put herself out there and Lucas told her to leave...in the most respectful, gentlemanly way possible, but still. Maybe it was just her being like “shouldn’t have done that”?

For some reason I always find this scene inappropriate. Not sure why.
Hadn't Lucas had an argument with Henry's son in front of everybody right before this scene? He blamed Lucas for his dad's health issues or something like that. I can't recall it exactly.
So this scene happened after that, I feel that Lucas was still upset about that, and it was a bad moment for this little heated situation between them.
Maybe that's why Elizabeth acted weirdly because with her heart she wanted to have an intimate moment with Lucas but she sensed at the same time that the energy was not right for this. I felt lots of contradiction and disharmony about this scene. Anybody else felt the same?
I think she is trying to force a "closeness" with Lucas because she knows he is disappointed by her responses to Nathan's I love you. But, try as she may, it does not come off very natural, and it didn't fool him.

I think it’s funny how each of the teams feel or see something different from the scene and actors. It will be nice to finally see how the writes portrayed and try to look back and see where they were coming from.

She made a choice not to be with Nathan - but not the choice to be with Lucas and she specifically said so to Rosemary. But dating Lucas isn’t the final choice, she obviously has yet to face her feelings for Nathan and tell him “I won’t” instead of “I can’t”.

I got really excited at the beginning of this scene because E said she wanted to talk and I thought here is the chance for the blow to be softened if she picks Lucas. They are finally going to have a meaningful conversation about their feelings and then...Lucas doesn't want to kiss her before she is ready and tells her she should go. Argh! As much as I appreciate his gentlemanly behavior why couldn't he just TALK to her for a while. I think Lucas is a great guy but until I feel like he can have an important conversation with Elizabeth I will struggle with the pairing.
