I think the key to keeping goats warm is to keep their rumens going with plenty of hay, kibble and water. And I always deworm them every fall so they have enough time to grow thier undercoats in. If they have a large parasite load that will interrupt the winter coat growth.
We test our goats every year and so far we haven't had to treat for worms, but that is really good information. They are tough little animals and I am in awe of their resilience . Merry Christmas

Chickens are also super hardy. I don't use warming bulbs anymore for my chickens or goats. Only if a baby goat is born during the winter will I separate mama and baby and put in a heat bulb. I have a baby due now. I'm praying it doesn't come during this arctic blast.

These last couple of days have been tough and I am looking forward to the warm blast coming in a few days...it's crazy here.
