George is watching so intently. He loves Carl very much. He respects his great talent.
Not many people is capable to imitate Les Paul guitar style that shows how good Carl Perkins is
The dislikes are people who are jealous they’ll never be able to play like that
"I'll try to do it simple." Carl Perkins 1985
What a lovely grandpa... (sarcasm) How he just said that? "I'll play it kinda simple" AND THEN HE PLAYS SOMETHING ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE... I hated him for this... but I love him.
He knew what hed do. He was just showing that hes a master.
It takes a lot of practice and years of experience to play that song.
That was the happiest I have ever seen George Harrison being..... Carl was his instant loving mentor.
I agree, the love and admiration between them was so obvious RIP boys ❤❤❤
@@purpleplump6650 Play in peace!
Not surprised, not surprised at all, that is some beautiful guitar playing played by beautiful grandpa Perkins.
Starting at 1 minute Carl hits absolute perfection!!!
Have watched this over and over, the love and admiration between Carl and George is so obvious. Wish I could have been there. Well done boys x❤❤❤
A great example of the guitar styles that influenced the Beatles the most. They played the country style guitar of Perkins and Scotty Moore. You can hear it all over their early records.
In I Will Paul played in the style a bit.
@@mckinleylowman6412 i dont hear it in there
@@ZDKzap Theres a little solo in the song played in Travis picking
@@mckinleylowman6412 ah, i see what you mean now. true.
Two really amazing and underrated guitarists right there.
Wooohoooo ... The maestro and his greatest fan.
Yes Carl always was a fan of George.
Carl’s son Stan said his dad had to practically relearn how to play the guitar with his left hand, with basically only three fingers, after the tendon in his pinky was severed after an accident when his hand went into an old metal fan and was severely injured. All the more impressive!!
I always loved that song! Pure clean fingerpicking that Carl was noted for and I wish I play like that!
Carl Harrison. Dreams come true.
Ive seen Carl play this song for yrs this the best version Ive seen him play .
i miss these guys.
Whoever disliked this, doesn't deserve ears.....
Que Maravilloso tocaba La Guitarra ese Señoron, mis respetos
Amazing how there was only 11 years between them and yet George looks like a small boy worshiping his music idol
Awesome! Thank you for sharing, God bless you!
¡Qué hermosura, por Dios!

Just to correct an error in the title: this was not recorded at the Capitol Theatre, NJ. It's from "Carl Perkins and Friends - a Rockabilly Session" - a one-hour TV special recorded in London UK, at Limehouse studios. I saw it (and taped it off air: I still have my original VHS copy) when it was first broadcast.
Return on artists of great talent 🎼🎸🎼😛 🎼🎸🎼
I’ll play it kinda simple. 😂😂😂
titanic1972 lol Been watching this clip for months and just realized how funny that is.
titanic1972 🤣🤣🤣
im playing along on my epiphone Les Paul custom right now, shred it Carl.......
George was thinking: "That is better than all the guitar ive had recorded with the Beatles".
Sensational
Also that Peavey guitar was in the Rock and Roll hall of fame when it 1st opened I was standing 3 ft away from it .
Does anyone know if there is a transcription or sheet music on how to play this song the way Carl Perkins plays it? I'd be willing to shell out! I just love his travis picking style
wahwoo!
There are countless fingerpickers, countless virtuosos, but there is only one Carl Perkins. They could be faster or more tricky, but they cannot be better. And yes, the hairstyle is also an issue.
0:36 that is all coming from one guitar. 😯
Everytime I see this clip I get angry because it states it is at the Capitol Theater, but it isn't. It;s not even in the USA. The Studio was Limehouse Studios London.
In 1985 Carl Perkins meant very little to Americans except as a guy who had one hit record "Blue Suede Shoe".
In the U.K. he was always revered as a rock legend where these superstars first became interested in rock 'n' roll, and many took up playing guitar because of him.
Now you want to bask in his limelight & say it was filmed it the USA. Well it WASN'T, as I said it was in the UK at Limehouse studios. Now alter the heading to read the correct location if you've got the balls to be honest in your life for once.
Good as Les Paul.
Carl starts out by saying he will play it simple, and 99.9% of the world’s guitarists couldn’t play what Carl considers simple.
If he thinks that’s simple, what the hell did he consider complicated!?
Hahaha, agree. Really nice playing
George Harrison's finest performance
Wow. He was just about as good as Jerry Reed. Nice
Such a sloppy title. MV gets a quick dislike from me. Carl Perkins deserves better than the incompetents writing these video titles.
Poor George, he can't keep up or even join in when Chet Atkin's style is concerned!
