P2122 P2127 Code Fix - 350z Throttle Not Working

  • My 350z throttle quit working, it just went dead while sitting at a traffic light. I scanned for codes by the roadside and found P2122 P2127. I suspected the 350Z TPS (Nissan 350Z throttle position sensor) was bad, but it wasn't nor was I too far off from the problem. More faulty rubber bump stops! Time to just replace them all with more permanent solutions!

    Been a little while since I did a 350Z tech video of any kind.... but hey, it seems to break more than the VWs do these days. This 15 year old car vs 50 year old cars.... What's your feelings on that?

    • @martinharris5017
      @martinharris5017 3 года назад +1

      I reckon very few of these newer cars will be around in 50 years time. They are nice to drive and reliable for a few years, but tricky to diagnose and repair (except for The Duckman maybe!). Then again, my eldest son (age 14) is as passionate about cars like your 350Z as I am about VWs, and is learning how to maintain and modify them, so maybe a whole new generation will treat these Imports with the same care we oldies do with our classics?
      As for EVs...nah.

    • @100Jeanluc
      @100Jeanluc 3 года назад +4

      With so much tech these days, there is so much more to go wrong. I think that is why older cars are becoming more popular. Less to go wrong, easier to repair/diagnose, and in most cases cheaper too. Only problem is availability of spare parts.

    • @martinharris5017
      @martinharris5017 3 года назад +1

      @@100Jeanluc Spare parts may be an issue with some older cars, but certainly not classic VWs: The aftermarket VW parts business seems to be thriving and at least here in New Zealand, is growing. The value of older VWs is also rising they are now quite an investment.

    • @100Jeanluc
      @100Jeanluc 3 года назад +2

      @@martinharris5017 very true, but there are other vehicles besides vw's. Too many to have spares for, but that's the way it is.

      Ensure the new rubber stop is indeed high enough to prevent the pedal from extending beyond its effective range.... that small amount is ridiculous, but enough to affect operation. In other words, try taping a penny over the rubber bumper. Do this when the car is off, of course. Then try and start it, see if that fixes the problem. Maybe you need a bigger stopper.

      You did not say what method of throttle body cleaning that you decided to do, but if you tamper with the throttle body you have to resync/calibrate it. There is a process to do this, make sure it's still plugged in properly, then hit up Google and search for the process of how to do that. Some kind of turn the key on and step on the gas pedal for 10 seconds turn it back off and pump it 32 times while standing on you head kinda thing. I hope that gets it for you!
