    This was an amazing how to step by step!! Much better than others who don’t state the socket size or pointing out the obstacles you come across!! Awesome job!! I hope mine isn’t the alternator it might be the battery terminals!!

    Just did this myself, never done one before. I set aside a few hours for the job, took about as long, it took a minute to get the old alternator out for some reason. Didn't take anything to slide the new one in. Only thing I was worried about was the belt tension but it came out fine.

    Awesome video. I found taking out the battery and plastic plate the battery sits on gives you more room to work with in front. Also dropping that track bar behing the frame lets you take out the alternator from the back of the frame without having to move the cooler. Just a thought. Less hoses to mess with. I made the mistake of swapping positions of the 2 hoses on top. One was the high pressure hose for the transmission fluid. Yeah. That was a fun cleanup.

      I meant in front of the frame. Just give more room. Not necessary but I like having more room. Lol

      For some reason these vehicles go through alternators all the time. This was my mother in laws in the video and they just had to have it replaced again about a month ago. But unfortunately they moved out of state so I wasn’t able to replace it for them again but since I posted this video it only lasted a couple years.

    Wow excellent video quality, lighting is excellent, but most important the stability and pointing is better than any other channel I have seen in years of using RUclips for repairs - very impressive had to subscribe. PS excellent attention to detail to not break brittle parts. Thanks am likely to need to do this soon, my battery voltage, I think, is too low 12.19 to about 12.6v when at idle and accelerated to 2000 RPM keeps going up and down at any fixed RPM, unfortunately it has left us with a dead battery twice in one and a half months, second time was with a new battery - but still not sure if it was not a stuck relay but it has to be a high current one as it was only off about an hour and then did the click click and the whole thing went dead which it does if the bat voltage is too low. Can’t get it to do this when I am monitoring things.

    Do you know what the bolt torque specs are?and will this process be the same for a 2018 Armada?

    • @BLUECOLLARGARAGE
      @BLUECOLLARGARAGE  2 года назад

      Sorry I do not have the torque specs. I didn’t use one because it was just to hard to get a torque wrench in some of those areas. Yes it should be the same or get similar for a 2018 Armada.

    • @federalistpatriot

      I can't get the alternator out of the 2018. There is a control arm in front that makes it impossible to pull out from the front. Any ideas? I tried pulling it out the back but the brake line is in the way. This video otherwise has been a God send. Great work!

      @jamaalbush1658 2 года назад +1

      @@federalistpatriot so if I can remember correctly it’s bolts the are screwed into a bracket. Just those bolts that hold the bar in place are the ones to remove, once the are removed it will flip down. You don’t have to remove the whole bar

    Thanks for the video, we just had both the battery and the alternator changed and within a week I think the new alternator is already gone bad.
    The lights are dimming and the voltage indicator on the dash is below the Midway point and fluctuating back and forth.

      Any idea if it was the IPDM limiting the alternator output? I plan on clipping my pin 33 on the IPDM to sever the connection which should bring voltage to a constant 14v

    Jam up job brother. The shops around here want 1500-1800$ not counting the cost of that high dollar alternator. Luckily it wasn't my alternator just a bad break pedal switch.
