I think a lot of people have forgotten about this amazing movie. Everyone involved in this film did an absolutely incredible job.

Hi Emma, if you like Jean Reno there is a comedy/fantasy you might enjoy, it`s called (The Visitors (1993) - Les visiteurs). After I watched Leon, I looked for more of his work & amongst other`s, found this great comedy film. Nobody has reacted to it as far as I am aware.
I'm French and this movie is so good, the world needs to know about it
I guess Mathilda never finished Bonny and Clyde or Thelma and Louise
Omg a classic flick! One of Gary Oldman's best performances. .ive seen the European version as well. Leon kept it professional he was a father figure to Matilda. Thanks Emma 🎉🎉🇨🇦

-“Le Grand Bleu” (“The Big Blu" a 1988 Luc Besson film with Jean-Marc Barr, Rosanna Arquette, and Jean Reno again → integral version ⇾ so much better than the short and with hilarious scenes between Jean Reno and Jean-Marc Barr that not appear in the short version)
-“37.2 Le matin” (Betty Blue ⇾ American title ⇾ Film by Jean-Jacques Beinex, available on Prime ⇾1986 Oscar Best Film in Foreign Language). Again, the integral version is so much better than the short version to understand the movie.
-“Diva” (1981), another Film by Jean-Jacques Beinex. If you like classical music (opera), you’ll be served!
- “Jeux d'enfants” (Children’s Games, 2003) Film by Yann Samuell with Guillaume Canet, Marion Cotillard.

The Big Blue too
This is the first Gary Oldman movie I ever saw, and it opened a huge library of movies I'd never seen. I believe 100% he is the greatest actor alive.
When I saw this in theaters, I jumped out of my seat when Leon says "this is from Matilda" epic action film 1 liner

I would like to suggest two very underrated movies that get ignored. R.I.P.D. and Tomorrowland.
Thats One of my alltime favourite Movies. All Three acting absolutely perfect reno, portman und Oldman. Brillant movie. The end Credit Song is Shape of my Heart from Sting. Bring me to tears.
Jean Reno was also great, together with Robert DeNiro, in the movie Ronin. Well worth a watch!

If you are interested in another movie with JEan Reno and of Luc Besson (as producer this time) watch Wasabi, its one of the less known of his movies.
Gary Oldman is electric in this film and Natalie Portman- wow!

Yes my favorite flick. The line “everrrry onnnne” yelled by Gary Oldman was just a prank to make the director laugh. 😅Gary Oldman also played a scary Dracula maybe you could eventually react to.

In the uncut version Leons and Mathildas relation gets a bit more "creepy". As I remember it, a scene at a resturant implies Leon has more than a fatherly/big brother feelings for Mathilda...
Besides that, it is a perfect movie. Different... masterly acting, and Oldmans best performance in my openion.

Great reaction Emma like always. Natalie Portman's performance while waiting for Leon to open the door is freaking amazing. Her fear cast shadows. The Director’s Cut is more disturbing on the relationship level, but it also clarifies things. She comes on more strongly, even asking him to be her “first.” Leon responds by telling her that he was in love only once and that the father of his girlfriend killed her when he found out they were going to elope. So Leon killed the dad, moved to NY, and became an assassin. Leon says this woman was the only one and, because of that, he wouldn’t be a good lover. Portman chills out a little after that. So…more disturbing.
But it also fleshes out their relationship. They aren’t lovers, but they do love each. Not romantically, but as literally the only people they have in their lives to love. So the lines of what kind of love gets blurred a bit, even if he never, ever crosses a sexual line with her. And a fun-fact, Gary Oldman improvise almost all of his lines on this movie, including the famous "Eeeevvryyyonnneeee". Keep up the good work.
There is another good film with Jean Reno that you can react to [WASABI] very good film almost in the same genre as this.
This is a great movie. I guess my favorite part is when Matilda starts laughing in the restaurant and can't stop. There aren't any other movies like this, except maybe Gran Torino.
I hope she kept the $10,000 as well.

After watching it, I fell in love with Natalie Portman... Calm down - I was 12 years old then too.
And now I think that this woman has the most beautiful smile on the planet.
The film's one saving grace is that Mathilda's little brother was killed off screen, in addition to the stellar acting of all involved.

If you want to dig about Besson, he made a previous movie with Reno playing few scenes as a "cleaner", it's named Nikita (I think the title was La Femme Nikita for the north american market). It's grim, violent, raw, cold, definitively not a family friendly movie, but it's quite effective.

I really enjoy this movie. Gary Oldman, Jean Reno, and Natalie Portman all give wonderful performances. The storytelling is fantastic. The character arcs of Matilda and Leon are fun to watch.
You are the only person I can think of that thought of Leon as fragile. That is wonderful.

My late wife and I had a love of Luc Besson films. We even named our son Luc.
Besson has quite a few films that folks haven't had the opportunity or desire to watch. But the man is a master cinematographer.
As for Besson's interest in hitmen, you should definitely check out the predecessor to this film, La Femme Nikita. It even inspired Joss Whedon, as well as a 90s TV series of the same name.

Love that guy! Also in, LA femme Nikita, the first mission impossible, and Ronin! The DEA agent is Gary Oldman. Should have won an Oscar! The drug dealer in True Romance, the police captain in Batman trilogy, and weird guy in fifth element! This is a Luc Besson movie. All should be watched! He did fifth element, transporter and taken series, big blue, Lucy,, Jupiter rising, and others. Her first role. She answered a massive cattle call for this part, and got it!
This movie came about from La Femme Nikkita. He was a bit character in that movie. And I think Jean Reno comes to Luc One day and says to him, what was Leon's life, like? Then this happened!

For another great Luc Besson film watch the original Nikita with Anne Parillaud in the title role. Jean Reno makes an appearance as 'The Cleaner'.
Luke Besson was a second husband of Milla Jovovic. Her husband now is director Paul Anderson. And their daughter Ever Gabo Anderson is as young Natasha Romanoff in Black Widow movie.

You should also watch another Luc Besson Classic named "Nikita". It's a great movie and Jean Reno as the "cleaner" has a small part in it. Besson was so impressed with Reno that he wanted to have a whole movie about that character which resulted in "Leon the Professsional". A hidden classic by Luc Besson is "The Big Blue" (European version) with Jean Reno once again playing an Italian. But this time the larger than life free diving world champion Enzo Molinari who is competing against his childhood friend over the title of world champion and a woman.

One of my favorite films ever! It was so well filmed and produced, and didn't need all the CGI and other stuff in films today. This made me a Luc Besson fan. If you want to see more of his films, watch "Lockout" with Guy Pearce and Maggie Grace. It's a fun thrill ride. Awesome reaction Miss Emma!❤❤
