nah he was right about fire force though --i enjoyed the first two episodes but then the third episode was a total train wreck. my friends who keep up with the show told me it doesn't get much better so for being a generic exposition-heavy lightning fast pacing shounen, it's pretty skippable
Same, the way they skipped past in one episode what could have been a multiple episode tournament arc was way too quick pacing for me. The thing that killed it for me was the way they treated the nun character. She's worshipping in some courtyard in some sort of silk robe that shows off half her chest, then when protag walks past (as anyone could do, it's an open courtyard) she gets embarrassed, pulls the robe to cover herself and wraps a coat around herself before leaving. If this is just how worship is done, why is she embarrassed? If it's an embarrassing thing, why do it in a courtyard where anyone can just walk past? Then really not long after this there's tonal whiplash as we go from framing her as something to be ogled at (which the character seems uncomfortable about, already kinda icky) to her suddenly being a complex character with a traumatic childhood, but then they go right back to her being sexualised against her will when most of her clothes get burned off.
Not from scratch, they get the potassium nitrate from "earlier". I ain't no chemistrician, but I'm pretty sure that if you know enough to get potassium nitrate you probably already know how black powder works
I've watched 7 episodes of that garbage ass anime because people keep hyping it up and I don't understand what these guys are talking about. there isn't anything I find redeeming about it. The story is extremely predictable, the only thing you can't predict is what will save the MC's life. The science isn't anything impressive either so it's not like you are learning anything cool it's just badly written characters walking around a badly written story
While it's not unreasonable for someone to make an argument that a show is good and explain why the show is good (something that you obviously didn't bother doing, thus making your comment worse than useless), it's also not unreasonable for someone to be turned off from watching a show within one episode, half an episode, or even just the OP. Why? Because, that was the series putting its best foot forward and failing to impress.
I feel like he's woefully unprepared for what happens with I'd even fight the world for my cutesy loli daughter. Needless to say I stopped reading as soon as I learned one major spoiler which just made me go "WHY JAPAN WHY"
@@ArlanKels Then you should have kept going. It doesn't go nearly as bad as you assume it does. She is legal, there is a ten year difference between them, and they are not blood related. At no point is the situation you are envisioning come to past. You would have stopped your reading much sooner had you been picking up on Latina's feelings to dale in Book 2.
@@nhagan001 I was enjoying the series for how it was a Father with an adoptive daughter. It had a nice feel to it, and I looked forward to how the girl grew up and learned from her adoptive father. Not a "I wish the seven year old girl would marry me because I like it that way".
@@ArlanKels You mean you were going to ignore the reality of her situation? I mean, I can lay out the facts all day, but at the end of the conversation, YOU are the one implying INCEST where there is none. She is a Devil. She will outlive Dale, everyone in that city, and probably go on to outlive the children's children of her city. A girl that was abandoned, is going to to have to live for a hundred, or two hundred, or even seven hundred years alone. And you are faulting said girl for falling in love with the one person she deemed worthy of her trust and affection when she needed these things the most? Again, here is what I stated "She is legal, there is a ten year difference between them, and they are not blood related. At no point is the situation you are envisioning come to past." So what you want is the Book Series to end when Dale dies. That way you can deny the facts: Latina would be alone. Latina would have no one to trust or love. She would be a branded criminal with no Dale to protect her. Keep in mind she RAN AWAY from a village where she was exiled for being a criminal as a child. People tend to find and execute criminals.

@@nhagan001 I don't think that's needed, but I'd agree that this REAAAAALY isn't his thing and given that most of these shows are by now SIX episodes in, posting recommendations based on ONE episode is asking for trouble. He really should do what he does well, and that is dig into one thing or one show, rather than this scatterfire approach that isn't really that informative (half a season in) and you'll trigger a lot of people. As I said, if he wanted to make a video on exactly why some of my favorite anime this season is trash and therefore so am I, I'll be all for it. I'll disagree in the comments, but I'm fine with discussion. Drive by put downs on the other hand arne't as fun.

Skipping Dr. Stoned is SUCH a bad decision, you can't even imagine. Also, this entire video is evidence in support of the good ol' 3 episode test for most anime.
I don't like typical shounen. I continued on this show even after it didn't appeal me that much after episode one. Does it gets better? Sure. By far? Nah, it still has some of the problems, that it showed on episode one. Will I continue? Not sure... probably, but I wouldn't recommend this show to anyone who doesn't like shounens by default.
@@nowydexter13 The only reason i'm still watching Dr. Stone is Senkuu. I literally could not care for any other character(at least for now). Also the girls look weird as hell, their eyes are so far apart it creeps me out lol
I don't think anybody who disliked ep 1 of Dr.Stone is going to like the rest of the show so far. If you want to start pointing out flaws and annoyances in it, there are plenty. Particularly senku fake chuckling, making a pose, and smuggly putting the people around him down. That shit gets grating fast. Particularly because i used to be like that, and i hate to be reminded of it.
@@haldir108 The issue here isn't whether you liked or disliked it. Anyone can like or dislike anything. The problem is giving it a score and telling an audience "Skip it" based on subjective impressions. And one episode is not enough to make objective judgements about the whole show. You yourself only pointed out character quirks from Senku. You see them as flaws. I see them as what makes his character interesting to follow. But I wouldn't use my preferences as a basis for scoring the show. In short, I don't mind EXP sempai disliking the show or telling others he disliked it. I do however think he shouldn't then tell others to skip it based on one episode. And don't worry, we've all been there. We have had our cringy, insufferable phases.
@@Ragnell141 There is nothing that can be objectively good. FMA brotherhood? Subjectively good to the overwhelmingly majority of people, but even though I, and anybody i encounter think it's good, it is not objectively good. Art isn't measurable, so invoking objectivity is utterly pointless. The closest you can get to """objective""" truth is a consensus. Consensus of course being a large gathering of subjective opinions that are more or less in line with one another. The purpose of this video is merely to share EXP's subjective opinions. If you know and understand EXP's taste, then the video is probably useful to you, even if your taste is 100% opposite his, since you can compensate for that when making judgement yourself. EXP doesn't need to specify "I recommend you watch it/test it/skip it, since that is always implied. For example, you say you enjoy senku's character, while i find some of his mannerisms annoying. I don't think either of those opinions are more right than the other. Therefore, if we need to make a value judgement of the series, we can only say "my subjective judgement is X", as it is impossible to say which opinion is right. As for judging a show quickly, based on only one episode, or even less; i think that's perfectly reasonable. A show will show it's hand at how good it is at writing characters, handling exposition, making good use of art and directing, and establish it's tone within the first episode, or sometimes, even within the first 10 seconds. If you can't tell if a show will be a 3/10, a 6/10, or a 9/10 for you within 5 minutes, then you're not really paying attention. As for giving recommendations based on a single episode, i don't think there is anything dishonest about saying "i saw 1 episode, and did't like it, and i can't recommend it".
@@nhagan001 Depends on your life situation, honestly. Until quite recently, i had maybe 5 hours a week i could reasonably spend on hobbies. 20 minutes wasted is a lot more palatable than an hour wasted on a show that isn't to your liking.

Agreed on Cop Craft. It feels like they just forget about their actions after every 2 episodes. coroner gets attacked by a vampire? forget it. police chief was corrupt? replace him. your car was destroyed last episode? ok that we can easily replace. I expect them to forget about the first friend our Little Knight just made come next episode too!
You know, I would write a long comment about how El-Melloi II Case Files is actually the best anime this season and possibly of this entire year, but then he said that he hadn't seen fate and everything suddenly made sense And to answer the question, Rail Zepplin is a train and not an Airship. And no, we don't know why it's called that either.
Yeah, I generally like El-Melloi because Waver is my favorite character in the Fate Series, but it's easily the worst possible introduction to the Fate franchise, it basically requires you to have at least watched Fate/Zero, Grand Order, and Apocrypha to know all the characters.
Isn't the name Rail Zeppelin given since it's a "train" that is flying through the underworld, so, in a sense, it's flying...felt like it was established in the latest episode.
It's rail Zeppelin because the Vampires say so. XD Anywho, yeah, already knowing the characters from their respective alternate timelines is pretty great, but at least it isn't loaded down with being another Holy Grail War. *shrug* I like those as much as the next guy, but it's nice to have something different from TypeMoon.
Inquisitor Thomas I certainly wouldn't say that you need to have played GO or watched Apocrypha, I haven't played GO at all and I could still follow everything that's going on. But Fate/Zero is pretty much necessary in order to understand El-Melloi Case Files, as well as some extra basic knowledge of how the general Nasuverse works
I dont really care what your opinion of any given anime is (I mean as demonstrated by your review of Dr. Stone, you're clearly wrong), but your writing style and narration and editing style is what Im here to enjoy
Your video always manages to show perfectly why just the first episode of an anime is not enough to judge them, as you both misjudge Dr. Stone and Demon Girl Next Door, as well as Granbelm. Your first impressions for all of them don't at all match what the shows actually are. That's the nature of this video I suppose, but oh well.
@@CeramicWeasel I mean if he's not into shounen or historical science or both, that could drain a lot of the appeal. It's a pretty specific niche to fill.
@@InquisitorThomas The first minutes a person spends with a show are where the hook is supposed to be. If this anime failed to put them there that is a problem with the construction of the anime not with watching only the first episode. An opening is where a creator's best foot should be forward. If their best fails to impress there is no reason to assume it will get better and there is no reason to continue watching. The fact this shows first episode failed alone is enough that you shouldn't watch it.
Please Explanation Point, for the love of all that is loly. Stop using premiere. Oh, dude, you have NO IDEA what you’re missing with Dr. Stone. It’s based off of an incredibly popular Shonen Jump manga, and it’s actually pretty fantastic.
I mean i can see why if someone didn't like shounen then they wouldn't like fire force. It's pretty tropey and it's really obvious all the budget went into the action cause non fight scenes look dull as hell. Also the plot is exposition heavy. That being said it looka fucking amazing, and just that should be enough to make you want to watch it.
The pacing was pretty amateur but even I thought it was good the first 2 episodes. Then I got impatient and read ahead and now I won't touch it with a ten foot stick. For the artist that made Soul Eater, Fire Force is ridiculously poorly executed, has terrible pacing and has a character whose entire shtick is being so "unlucky" that she sexually assaults people while getting angry at them for touching her when she forces her butt down their throat.
I love it, but I can see some major problems that could turn others off. It seems to me that they wanted to push 3 seasons of anime into one, without cutting anything, because the plot seems either super rushed, or just really badly explained. Exposition is almost always directly told, the shounen tropes are super obvious, but I still dig it
Honestly fire force can be good if you never watched a shonen before i guess. Even though the universe is damn stupid it can be watched for the fight scenes at least. Example of terrible universe rules : we know 8th division is some kind of police of polices, so someone in government must want to investigate other divisions. But then you just go on pvp fight between divisions of firemen, with the general of one division being a crazy sadistic, the 8th just come on her division and attack them without any proof that their comrade ( who came of her own will ) would be there ... that kind of stupid universe really turns me off
I really wish you could just disable it as a viewer. It just leads to disappointments. My solution so far has been to unsubscribe from pretty much all channels that use it.
I'll jump on the "continue Dr. Stone" bandwagon. Highly recommend, up to the next few episodes, know that it makes some huge changes in direction starting around episode 7. Focusing more on rebuilding civilization as fast as humanly possible.
Couldn't get into it after watching 3 episodes because it gave me super cringe vibes when Obnoxious Wikipedia Protagonist decided that the solution to "Ubermensch wants to murder every adult" is "Let's revive guns, a great invention that will have no ill effects on the future whatsoever." So... does it because plausibly nuanced at some point or does the writing remain ridiculously contrived all the way? Also, does Woman Character get some agency at some point? Because where I left off she seemed like her only skill was getting amazed at what the dudes were doing and that's a huge pet peeve for me.
You should atleast give Machikado Mazoku another try. The premise drew me in at first but I stayed for the cute character interactions. And despite what you said about stretching the premise, it seems like there is going to be an actual serious plot soon judging from the latest episodes
While I enjoyed it, this video to me is the perfect example for the Madoka rule (in a lot of cases). Would be interesting if you made a video about which shows you actually watched.
Highly agree. The 1 episode formula just doesnt work. 10x less ibteresting and cant shake the feeling of ignorance toward the show before remembering he hasnt even watched the full epusode of some of these.
9:05 I would just like to point out that Senku doesn't have E=MC^2 on his shirt just cause, he actually wrote it on there with his own blood because he realized for him to have the energy to be conscious for 3,700 year, the petrification would have to use matter to supply him with enough energy to think for all those years, hence E=MC^2, or rather Energy=Mass x The Speed of Light ^2
Yeah, the moment she was told to call the main character's father, "dad" in the last episode, instead of "grandpa" I was like, "Wait, what? ..... NO. No, please, no!" 😱 And now you've confirmed my fears. Definitely not interested in this one anymore... 😞
El-Melloi II Case Files is a Sequel to Fate:Zero, as it stars one of the main characters from that fate iteration; much of Waver's(the main guy) motivation comes directly from the events of Fate/Zero. Its also a prequel to Fate Stay Night, although thats less important. The series is more of a magical detective type story for much of whats shown so far. In terms of your other recommendations, I agree with a lot of them, but as others have said, Doctor Stone is very much a watch this season. The main character comes off as an edgy asshole for a bit, but like most good characters, he has depth which makes his attitude a lot more understandable and likeable as the show goes on. Im on the fence about fire force myself, having caught up to it recently. When its good, its good. When its bad, its really, really bad. I audibly groaned when an accidental grope scene happened, and even the characters themselves are aware that this particular character is prone to such things happening frequently. Its definitely one of those shows that you watch for the underlining mystery rather than the characters(although I do like most of the main characters). Okaa-san online is super fun in a sort of trashy way. Like it definitely seems aware of the tropes of the isekai genre, and goes out of its way to subvert them, or use them creatively. Such as the game literally being a power fantasy made for Moms instead of teenage boys. Or how they were in such a rush to get the game out of an alpha state that most of the npc's dont even have detailed models. But then theres trashy fanservice scenes with the mom, which was expected. Its a good drunk watch I guess.
The milf isekai is pure trash. Sure, it's funny and entertaining in a guilty pleasure way when it's making fun of isekai tropes but quickly descends into utter dogshit when it makes use of those tropes. Like the episode with the tsunderes mom.
Dr Stone is accurately described as: Primitive Technology the shounen anime and one of the characters is a so over the top good guy idealist that he ends up being pretty bad (way to hell, good intentions and stuff) I like it a lot.
Since everyone is piling on with Dr Stone, I'll do the opposite: It's a standard isekai with even less plot than normal, and uniquely has tons of super summarized real science (that part can go either way tbh - it's to its credit imo, but it's rammed through super fast so it's kinda awkward all the time). It's a show that makes you want to feel like you've gotten smarter by watching it (an achievement, to be sure!), but you clearly didn't, and then you realize that all that science-ish time could have instead been spent on character development or any kind of plot that lasts more than one episode. And then the next episode is the same thing again. As is the next. And the manga implies this will continue for the foreseeable future. Skip.
Dr. Stone is one of, if not, the best Shonen ongoing right now, especially the manga which has a great artist with a distinct art style. I highly recommend giving it a few more episodes.
@@paaperman Eh? Do people hate Mother's Basement? Someone dissed me before when I said I watched it but didn't explain why, what's the deal? Is it widely considered to be bad but I somehow don't know this?

His scripts seem as extemporaneously mishandled as nux taku's but without any of the personality to carry the videos through. hi. amidst the very scathing comments id like to thank you for recommending o maidens, it’s seriously underrated and did wonders to my weak, weak heart.
So... Dr. Stone I would say is worth a test. I can definitely say that its something that you have to have a certain itch for, learning how something works and watching the progress to get there. It's good if you want that itch scratched, but not for much else. The character writing is not the best. Fire Force is a shonen. And that's about it. I like it, cause the animation is lovely and the OP is fire (GET IT!!!). But other than that, it has all of the shonen strengths as well as the faults and it's good for something you turn your brain off to. It's no bad, but you can skip it and wont be missing out on the next naruto or anything
At the risk of sounding redundant, yes Fire Force is worth giving more of a chance based on some of the world building and animation that even the next few episodes have to offer. All Dr. Stone manga/anime fans are screaming at you because the story quickly becomes very engaging and stays that way until the end of time (or at least it's still that way for now).
Dr. Stone gets rly gud with time! You need to sit in with a bid of expectation of edge and things not making sense, but if you go with it it gets really fun! Personally can recommend
I still don’t understand the idea behind these videos: they come out in the middle of the season, so half the episodes are already out, but you only watch one and say „who knows how it goes from here“. If it were super early in the season and only judge the show on the 2 Episodes that are out, ok. If you would watch more than the first 10 minutes and would talk about what you liked and disliked when the season is (almost) over, ok. But this format just doesn’t make sense to me, especially because I like your more analytical videos and this is just 30 minutes wasted.
He doesn’t really have the resources to release it sooner or include more episodes. It’s still pretty good for finding things mid season you skipped at the start but may be worth a revisit.
I wouldn't even call Machikado Mazoku SoL since it pretty much has a plot and so far it hasn't really had much if any filler you might find in such shows. Which is frankly stunning for something that started out as a 4-koma manga. It's a magical girl show but mostly focuses on one girl becoming a better person (by "trying" to go splatterhouse on an MG :D).
@@bistakal6841 True true. I'm not saying it will be dramatic or anything, but there IS a plot and things aren't reset after each episode so far. This could easily (and probably eventually will be) become an episodic show. Introduce a new problem downtown. Have the ancestor provide a new crisis management costume, consult with Momo, fail until you succeed by accident. Rinse repeat. But it's not that yet.
I'll say this. You are right that Doctor stone starts really really slow. It gets better. The characters get better too. It's surprisingly, an edutainment series disguised as an isekai.
For anyone complaining about his format, keep this in mind: Before scirpting, editing or anything like that, he has to watch 26 episodes. That's a full 2 seasons of an anime. Complaining that he didn't give stuff like Dr. Stone more than one episode to impress him is ridiculous, because he'd have to watch 52 or 78 episodes to properly judge things, which for one video is utterly ridiculous. Also keep in mind that for each show he has to script, record and edit, each of which could take hours per show, and he has to drop the video before the end of the season. He has 90 days to do this, and because of the long nature of these videos, he often has other stuff come up while watching. The point is that he only watches one episode because he only has time for one episode.
The fact that Dr Stone was put on skip kinda shows why you cannot make a judgement on the first episode. Honestly it makes sense that the better shows have less engaging first episodes, because the first episode needs to establish and set up so many things before it can go on to be actual entertainment
18:40 After finishing Dumbbell, that was literally the worst advise ever. The show got my fat arse interested into actually doing stuff with my body so it archieved a lot more than any other anime this season ever could.
I get why Explanation Point said skip Dr. Stone based on the first episode. It sets up the plot of the show, but not the actual conflict, which doesn’t come until episode 2. But after that, the show gets more interesting, and I’d recommend it to someone on the fence about watching it.
I think I speak for everyone here when I say, "You are wrong on just about every point, and the pure fury I feel at your poor taste has caused me to literally ignite and burn my house down."
So the show you are wrong about is Dr. Stone. If you like the RUclips channel Primative Technology, it's that but shonen. The characters develop nicely as the show progresses, and the seemingly superfluous "E=mc^2" on Senku's collar is explained (and it's a good-ass explanation)
...Dont skip Dr. Stone, its one of the best plot-driven 'isekai' without being an isekai. And instead of pulling out BS overpowered abilities they literally go step by step to show and make every tool that becomes used. ... And you can literally follow a recipe to make at home- but you probably shouldnt be making weapons at home. Despite it being about SCIENCE~ ive never gotten stuck like feeling this was a nerdy lecture.
I will say the pacing seems slow for a first episode... maybe give this a 3 episode look or just read from the manga. Manga pacing is so much better and you can binge :D
As someone who watched 8 episodes that are out now i feel him. The only interesting characters are senku and the Jojo guy. There is some Fun use of science but Suspension of disbelief tends to be clouded when you introduce a guy that punches a lion to death. And for a series that tries to Stay rooted in science and logic thats Not a good thing. I feel like it gets overhyped because its shonen jump... you know the maker of some of Animes greatests. The plot is unique, but it just gets kinds dragged down by its small cast of which Two are interesting and two are just your average boy cant spit it out to girl that clearly likes him which is just SOOOO overused. Also (I forgot his Name so i Call him Jojo) Jojo didnt had much Time to actually develop as a villain so his turn and sudden personal attachment to senku felt rather shallow. I think ill Finish up the season but i dont think ill be able to keep engaged unless something After episode 8 just amazes me somehow. I mean there is a random tribe girl so there is Hope for some more interesting characters to fill the cast and Take away some of its weakpoints.
Idk about Dr. Stone, but yeah, Fire Force looks the part, but the story (or more specifically, the pacing) is baaaaaaad. I was so interested In the premise that I even tried the manga out, but it suffers from the exact same pacing issue, but the visuals are less appealing too. The only plus of the manga is the extra content, but aside from that... I can only imagine watching it for the bomb animation
This video is a great example of why the three episode rule is so important. Many of these shows first episodes were completely different from the rest of the series. It just sounds kinda arrogant to completely trash a show after 20 min.
Skipping Dr. Stone only makes sense if you judge the show by its first episode/chapter since lets face it, the entire fandom pretty much agrees that the first arc with Senku, Taiju, Tsukasa (who isn't even in ep1) and Yuzuriha is the weakest. its a series with a slow start but does not disappoint if you stick with it. It's worth testing knowing it's a hype Shounen Jump title which was not mentioned so I'm assuming that's why it got a skip rating. I tested Fire Force and.... it didn't grip me. Considering I couldn't get into Soul Eater either, it might just be that I'm not a fan of how the writer characterizes their... characters. It happens. I might pick it up later but... naaaah. I also dropped Sacred Beasts after testing because I didn't care about the girl when she [REDACTED FOR SPOILERS] in ep3. Or was it ep4?
Skip Dr. Stone? That one clearly needs at least a 2 or 3 episode watch before coming to any conclusions. It's quite fascinating and you learn a lot of sciency things.
Dr stone is great, may not ever end up wowing you but it's unique enough to get to at least episode 6-7 which is when the real fun starts. It's a long form shounen show so you can expect arcs with growth and consequences that expand and expound over time. Writing is really Goofy and not self serious at all. But please don't skip it.
With TeamFourStar's Anime FMK gone, I am overjoyed you made this video. Thanks a bunch for the suggestions and putting in the time to look at all this stuff.
Personally, I found Dr. Stone enjoyable. The main thrust of the plot is pretty obvious, but it executes it in an interesting way, and I find the interactions between the characters rather unique and refreshing. Give it the proper three episodes and see if you still hate it.
Actually, rail zeppelin is a working idea. Imagine, say not necessarily zeppelin, but a ballon with a cabin for people, and a rail in the sky that guides zeppelin which can be propelled with speed much bigger than usual zeppelin speed. You can use it to traverse some really hilly or mountain terrain where making a railroad would be really expensive. It was never realised in the world for a reason, but it is not actually as nonsencical as you make it sound. Basically, rail zappelin uses one rail on the certain altitude to guide it's way so that it can be propelled much faster. Again, it is not as nonsencical as it sounds, it is actually an interesting idea, and I swear I can make some schematics that will make it plausible to make in the real world. And I would like to see some fantasy steampunk universe that implements them.
Of the ones I'm watching that you listed, since I'm caught up on the ones I'm watching Astra - Watch. It's a slow burn that builds off the interpersonal relationships that get built up throughout the show. The most recent episode included a HUGE twist reveal (that you'll see coming if you put some thought in it) that may or may not explain why the plot is what it is. Dr. Stone - Totes worth it. The guy writing the Manga makes a point of /knowing his shit/ which is why Senku tends to go on for too long, sometimes. That said, very early in the manga's life, they found out that Senku, Taiju, and Yuzuriha weren't going to be able to carry the series as the protags, so they shifted gears and introduced a whole village that had not been stoned (which does get explained later; said explanation bothers me as it doesn't seem to work, but whatever I've moved past it sense the series also has a guy who one-punched a lion). ANYWAYS, long story short, as soon as Senku gets to the village and the far better characters there, the show improves vastly, because it starts actually giving him goals that have to do with more than just basic survival and people to play off of who are actually interesting. Fire Force - I am Shounen trash, so of course I'm watching and enjoying the riding here. It's not going to go for anything super deep from a storytelling perspective, but the powers will be fun, as evidenced by the guy who literally carries a tuba around to convert fire into ice. Not even kidding. Beyond that, it's one of the two most gorgeous Shounen shows on right now (Demon Slayer is the other, and it's UFOTable so of course it's pretty), and the characters are mostly fun, regardless of how trope-y they may be. Demon lord dad - Yeah.... apparently by the end of the Light Novels, it's him getting with the "daughter" so.... eeeee..... Rail Zeppelin - Sooooo good. Partly because I have a boner for anything that lets me get to see more of Waver Velvet. Add that to them having A - explained the Rail Zeppelin, B - Yeah, they had that OVA back in January, and C - gone FULL Murder on the Orient Express as of two weeks ago. Abandoned Sacred Beasts - Look, it's doing Fairy Gone but better, and however dumb it gets, I'm happy to keep watching it, since I like the characters, mainly Schaal. Vinland Saga - I saw one or two episodes of this, but MAN I'm all down for it. I'll need to binge it as soon as I'm able to have the time to do it.
I was really enjoying If It's For My Daughter: the Manga, but people who read the light novels apparently say it goes down the Usagi Drop route which is... incredibly disappointing
Give Dr. Stone a chance, Fire Force is cool and Dumbbells actually has some good information for being very heavy with fan service. There are very few good shows that make you want to keep watching them after the 1st episode, but a lot of times it takes more than that. While you can consider it a waste of time, sometimes we have to watch the setup before we can witness all those glorious domino's fall.
Machikado has more going for it than just a slice of life with gimmicky premise. It's deals with themes of loneliness, depression, and friendship wrapped up in cute characters and a touching story. Probably the most underrated series of the season next to Granbelm. REALLY funny summary of series though.
Did this man just really skip Dr.Stone? it's not amazing, but holy shit a total SKIP??!?! Edit: He also gave Fire Force a skip. Yup, this is a certified bruh moment.
I am actually really weird, because I dropped Dr. Stone midway the third episode and also dropped Fire Force. First is too unrealistic for a series whose main appeal is science and stuff and a generic shonen besides. Usually I can forgive unrealism in universe if it is made up by the realism of characters. Dr. Stone got neither so really upsetting. And the second is so generic shonen I slept through the first episode. Except the flame scenes. And opening. What I can't forgive you is skipping Dumbbell, which stole my heart after it introduced Russian character, Russian jokes and all in an episode about chin-ups. I was watching thinking to myself, gym's good nd all, but you can't beat _turnichki_ and op, next episode, they introduce them WITH a Russian character. Priceless. I laughed out loud. My personal bias aside, I feel like your personal bias against physical exercise stole from you an amazing educament show, and motivating besides.

Screaming incomming
As someone who reads the manga, it very much gets way better after the PoV switches to Senku.
+ He puts the mom isekai on test, that was pure garbage.
nah he was right about fire force though --i enjoyed the first two episodes but then the third episode was a total train wreck. my friends who keep up with the show told me it doesn't get much better so for being a generic exposition-heavy lightning fast pacing shounen, it's pretty skippable
To be fair fire force is bad.
I'd say Dr. Stone deserves a watch solely because they were brave enough to broadcast a gunpowder recipe to the Japanese audience.

I love you man, but your score on Dr. Stone is evidence for why you shouldn't judge a whole show by the first episode alone.
@@haldir108 Three episodes is not too much to ask for.
@@nhagan001 Depends on your life situation, honestly. Until quite recently, i had maybe 5 hours a week i could reasonably spend on hobbies. 20 minutes wasted is a lot more palatable than an hour wasted on a show that isn't to your liking.

You know, I would write a long comment about how El-Melloi II Case Files is actually the best anime this season and possibly of this entire year, but then he said that he hadn't seen fate and everything suddenly made sense
And to answer the question, Rail Zepplin is a train and not an Airship.

XD
Anywho, yeah, already knowing the characters from their respective alternate timelines is pretty great, but at least it isn't loaded down with being another Holy Grail War. *shrug* I like those as much as the next guy, but it's nice to have something different from TypeMoon.
Inquisitor Thomas I certainly wouldn't say that you need to have played GO or watched Apocrypha, I haven't played GO at all and I could still follow everything that's going on. Your video always manages to show perfectly why just the first episode of an anime is not enough to judge them, as you both misjudge Dr. Stone and Demon Girl Next Door, as well as Granbelm. Your first impressions for all of them don't at all match what the shows actually are.

You must be 12 then
I love it, but I can see some major problems that could turn others off.

As somebody who watched a video by super eyepatch wolf once, i can tell you that apparently Dr. Stone does indeed get much better later on.
Dr Stone is accurately described as:
Primitive Technology the shounen anime and one of the characters is a so over the top good guy idealist that he ends up being pretty bad (way to hell, good intentions and stuff)
I like it a lot.
Serial Experiments Lain is a battle royale?! I might actually watch it now.
Since everyone is piling on with Dr Stone, I'll do the opposite:
It's a standard isekai with even less plot than normal, and uniquely has tons of super summarized real science (that part can go either way tbh - it's to its credit imo, but it's rammed through super fast so it's kinda awkward all the time).
I love that you have basically the diametrically opposite opinion of Gigguk.
you right. ex-point is more technical in editting too i love it, where gigguk is all loud performance. at least they aren't Mother's basement.
Yeah but lets be honest. I blame the 1 episode formula for the video but his opinions are in stark contrast with most of the people in the comments rn
And that's one reason I will continue to love to follow both of them :P.
@@paaperman Eh? Do people hate Mother's Basement? Someone dissed me before when I said I watched it but didn't explain why, what's the deal? Is it widely considered to be bad but I somehow don't know this?
@@lmbusiness5300 he made great videos at the start with "whats in an op" his best video by far is the one about shigatsu wa kimi no uso. The thing is once he got popular he ditched his quality and became a generic reviewer/commentator of anime and anime related medium. His scripts seem as extemporaneously mishandled as nux taku's but without any of the personality to carry the videos through. Many of his videos also can be straight up wrong with little research done with them, at least within the recent year or two, and probably worst of all, he makes political side comments and disses all the time. He shares's far left ideology, and that's not bad, it's just no one wants to hear about how much you hate capitalism and love your bi-sexual girlfriend... we want to hear about anime.
I'm taking note that I can fuse question marks and exclamation points. I won't confirm nor deny that I will use them for nefarious purposes.
Freeman's Freedom the interabang truly is great.
‽‽‽
You are so insanely wrong about Dr. Stone.
I think he was 10 billion percent correct when he guessed the plots main conflict after the first episode
Maybe for everyone else.
@@twopercentgaming4630 What a coincidence! I also guessed the plot AFTER I READ THE SUMMARY ON LIVECHART!
@@nhagan001 I don't even know what live chart is
hi. amidst the very scathing comments id like to thank you for recommending o maidens, it’s seriously underrated and did wonders to my weak, weak heart.
So...
Really cool to see another of these. The last one was very fun and one can’t ever get enough of the patent pending explanation point snark
Machikado mazoku is a really good Slice of Life.
And symphogear XV is best anime of the year (if Miku dies, it goes lower)
I wouldn't even call Machikado Mazoku SoL since it pretty much has a plot and so far it hasn't really had much if any filler you might find in such shows. Which is frankly stunning for something that started out as a 4-koma manga.
It's a magical girl show but mostly focuses on one girl becoming a better person (by "trying" to go splatterhouse on an MG :D).
@@bingo784 i hope so, cuz if that happen IT would left me with a broken hart.
@@Blazo_Djurovic for me it's a really good feel good anime, not the super drama, and Yuko is Just fucking adorable
*"I literally watched the wrong show because I was paying so little attention"*
This is an apt summation of the rigor behind most of the takes
''Professional Entertainer''
For anyone complaining about his format, keep this in mind:
Before scirpting, editing or anything like that, he has to watch 26 episodes.
I feel like we’re slowly watching your decent into madness and it’s great 😂
The fact that Dr Stone was put on skip kinda shows why you cannot make a judgement on the first episode.
I fully disagree with about 80% of what you said, like
You're absolutely wrong about Dr. Stone
Dr. Stone gets really good throughout the episodes. You seriously should watch the first 3.
That sponsorship ad was glorious, I applaud you sir
So, Yeah... Dr. Stone should probably go on the Test list; but I recommend waiting so you can binge it because the week to week is painful.
Here's your watch/test/skip guide for this video: skip it. Watch Dr. Stone or Fire Force instead!
8:41 Episode 7 begins the good part.
yikes. almost all of the shows i liked are on your drop list ad your watch and test list is basicly ma drop list... i guess that happend
1:24 to skip the ad in the beginning
Of the ones I'm watching that you listed, since I'm caught up on the ones I'm watching
Astra - Watch.
Dr Stone gets so much better as it goes along it's kinda sad to think of how many people are gonna drop it because of the mediocre early episodes
Dr. Stone should be way higher up and Fire Force should be a bit higher up (it's a decent shounen with a fair bit of sakuga).
"Star Trek Voyager Happens" I admit, I lol'd.
Skips Danberu, Fire Force, and Dr. Stone
We'll it's been nice being subbed to you
A fellow fan of Machikado and Granbelm I like you :3
I vouch for this.
I need a clip of just the ensemble stars section, I couldn't stop laughing well past that and had to go back for the next one.
I love these types of videos!! I missed your fast-paced banter its so good
Did this man just really skip Dr.Stone? it's not amazing, but holy shit a total SKIP??!?!
16:12 . I was pleasantly surprised to hear a golden time lover instead of some OP I didn’t even know.
